  1. Hi, I'm new to the Armbian/Alt PI scene, coming from a RPI Zero W. I'm needing to interact with my PI using a CH340G (is it compatible) USB to TTL dongle. I've also trjed a CH351A device, put it into UART mode. Unfortunately, I get nothing from the PI. Despite using the primary RX/TX pins. I've also tried enabling all of the UART pins using armbian-config, and using another set of pins - to no avail. Please view my setup below. I've run out of ideas of where I'm going wrong. I've tried these images: Armbian_5.90_Nanopineo2_Debian_buster_next_4.19.57 Armbian_5.90_Orangepione_Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.57 Refer…

  2. Hi, who knows how to fix the problem of the displaced screen on the right? This is how Armbian appears with the latest build https://dl.armbian.com/orangepi3/nightly/Armbian_5.90.190705_Orangepi3_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_5.1.15.7z and this is how it appears to me with an old build with kernel 5.0.7, so it's not the monitor's fault Regards

  3. I encountered a very strange boot behavior on OrangePI Plus 2E. When I boot from SD card with the desktop Armbian image, I'm having just an input of some color on HDMI (photo attached). No U-boot output on screen, but considering UART output both U-boot and system boot with no errors (log file is attached). Boot with the server Armbian image goes just fine, except no U-boot output on screen (only on UART) and screen resolution is 1280x720, while native resolution for the display is 1920x1080. Until recently everything worked just fine with both desktop and mainline images, and U-boot giving proper output on screen in 10920x1080 resolution. What I tried so far: …

  7. Can the Audio port on the Orange Pi Win Plus A64 also output video (like TV output)? It seems like most of the orange Pi boards with an audio jack can do this and the CubieTruck (which is an A20 board) can do the same as well. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks!

  9. Hello, I have an an orange Pi plus 2+. I had installed armbian ubuntu 18.04.2 on it. I used it only on wired network, and I experienced that the downloading speed is perfect, but the uploading speed is very slow. So at the network synchronous, the upload is same fast as download. On the same wiring and with another device I have not noticed this phenomenon before. Do you know what can be the reason of this? Speedtest:

  32. Good afternoon, please help configure the rotation of the logs. I am completely new to this system, unfortunately, I can not find a normal instruction on how to configure rotatilog. My problem is that the logs are full, and my necessary scripts stop working. If I constantly clear the logs manually, then the scripts work fine. I tried to configure the rotation in accordance with the instructions, it only works before the reboot, after the reboot, everything I fixed with the rotation changes the paths to /var/log.hdd/. Please help me make sure that all logs do not exceed 1m. and constantly spinning. I apologize in advance if not fully expressed his thought.

  48. Hello, I had a telecommunication technician logged onto my router + later that night a power outage. Now my pi (not sure before or after or related to anything), now the lights go on the pi (both + the one on the network), I can see it on the router with an IP but that is it. I can't logon to it on that IP with Putty nor can I ping it from the console on the PC. I tried now 3-4 of the builds (older ones, one official one and so on) with the flash card, but always the same. I don't have an USB to TTL converter to try that route. Is there anything else I can do? There is no way to do a hard reset, right?

The system will not run. I can not give you memory numbers because I covered it with sticking the heat sink. The first version is a model bought in 2016. The second version is the this year's model. The situation is similar to that of Nano pi T3 +

I have used it mainly as OMV sever with sata drive but now I migrate to a x86 install and this board will be wiped as I would like to use at as vpn server etc. What are my alternatives? I know that still are a lot of A20 boards that have armbian support. Which of them I can use and what probably won't work?

With this version of software the board works fine, but apparently the wifi cannot reconnect after a disconnection (error: association request to the driver failed) The only workaround I found is to manually bring down the wifi interface and then back up; then the reconnect is almost immediate. I tried to disable the NetworkManager and now I'm using /etc/network/interfaces file to handle the connections but the problem still persists. I checked the issue with another R1 board and so I can exclude that the boa…

After debugging w/ HDMI monitor, I found ssh_host_ecdsa_key, ssh_host_ed25519_key and ssh_host_rsa_key are preloaded to the Orange Pi PC2 image, which prevented SSH from working. Even if it doesn't prevent working of SSHD, it's also a severe security hole -- that means all Armbian installation with the same image will uses the same host key and they're vulnerable to MITM attack. I think these files should be purged when generating image, and regenerated when first powerup. It's what AOSC OS images do.

Hi, I am trying to write my own kernel module/drive for the NanoPi air, running a self-compiled version of armbian 5.83. Actually I only added the PREEMTION option to get real-time behavior when reading/writing from IO pins. I started using the "hello world" template from here. The build debian-package called "linux-headers-next-sunxi_5.83_armhf.deb" was copied and installed on the NanoPi. OK, so now compiling (on the NanoPi - so no cross-compilation) works like a charm: > make make -C /lib/modules/4.…

  90. Hi, I have an Orange PI Lite on to which I'd like to install the latest Armbian release. I had Armbian Xenial installed on the Pi Lite quite some time ago for test purposes and put it to one side while I got hardware for my Pi Lite set up for its intended use. I wiped the SD card and I was ready to download, install and set up the latest Armbian Xenial on my Orange Pi Lite when I notice the sub-heading "desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y". I'm not sure if this description appeared previously but my question is does this mean that this version, i.e. "Armbian Xenial desktop legacy kernel 3.4.y", although currently supported is no longer being updated and will theref…

Hi I have strange problem with my nano pi neo core 2. The device was working a few days then suddenly I lost my ssh connection. I used serial port to communication to see what happened and I get reply below. The last line it is a Error so I should reset my device. I did it several times and the result is the same. I'm not specialist but I supposed it is something wrong with eMMC memory because if I insert SD card with armbian it starts normally. Anyone have idea what was that, what happened. My nano pi shows week light of red LED. U-Boot SPL 2018.11-armbian (Feb 08 2019 - 11:05:25 +0100) DRAM: 1024 MiB …

  96. Started by data,

In an effort to enable Bluetooth on the OrangePi (Lite2 | 3) I am stuck at enabling UART1 via overlay. According to the schematics, the AP6255 is connected via UART1 (PG6-PG9) to the H6 SoC but not defined in the dtb. Since there is a dtbo which looks promising at /boot/dtb/allwinner/overlay/sun50i-h6-uart1.dtbo I tried adding an overlay to /boot/armbianEnv.txt - manually and via armbian-config. Both did not work out. In addition, I also tried adding uart1 to the dtb, without success. What am I missing?

  97. Hello! How to enable 1-Wire Dallas? I tried this: vi /boot/armbianEnv.txt ----------------------------------------------------- overlays=w1-gpio param_w1_pin=PA10 param_w1_pin_int_pullup=1 ----------------------------------------------------- Then I saw /sys/bus/w1/devices 00-400000000000 -> ../../../devices/w1_bus_master1/00-400000000000/ 00-800000000000 -> ../../../devices/w1_bus_master1/00-800000000000/ w1_bus_master1 -> ../../../devices/w1_bus_master1/ But there was not data. 98. Hi, I have a problem with usbhost on a NanoPi Duo2 with Armbian Bionic: Linux nanopiduo2 4.19.36-sunxi #5.82 SMP Mon Apr 22 19:12:08 CEST 2019 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux Everything works fine so far except for USB hosts. None of the connected USB devices is detected. I am quite sure that the voltage supply is stable. I tried to power the board in two ways: From an USB powerbank (2A) with a short USB cable From a laboratory power supply (1.5A) directly connected to the 5V and GND power pins In both cases, the board works ablsolutely stable, no reboots, no SD card issues, even with some I2C devices and a GPS receiver connected t…

  99. I am trying to get composite video fully working on an Orange Pi Zero Plus 2. I installed the legacy kernel image, and I've been able to turn on composite out, but I just get a blank screen on boot and there is no /dev/fb0. Is there anything else I have to do to enable the framebuffer. This is the (I believe) relevant portions of the script.fex file: [boot_disp] advert_disp = 0 auto_hpd = 1 output_type = 4 hdmi_channel = 0 hdmi_mode = 4 cvbs_channel = 1 cvbs_mode = 11 output_full = 1 hdmi_mode_check = 1 [disp_init] disp_init = 1 disp_mode = 1 screen0_output_type = 3 screen0_output_mode = 5 screen1_output_type = 2 s…

  100. Hi, I am currently testing an Orange Pi 3 with your nightly distributions (for instance Armbian_5.83.190424_Orangepi3_Ubuntu_bionic_dev_5.0.9), and they work fine but have some issues. The main issue is that the ethernet link status display does not really work. When I unplug my ethernet cable, the "Link detected" is alwayes 'yes" within ethtool. As I am trying to configure my board in bonding mode with an external wifi usb adapter (because the embedded wifi is not yet supported by armbian for Orange Pi 3), my bonding is not working because the link status on eth0 is always yes. I have also checked /sys/class/net/eth0/carrier and it is always "1" e…
