  1. Hi, I just joined up so I'm an extreme newbie here. I'm running the legacy trusty version of Armbian just downloaded. The HDMI display and USB ports are working fine. The Cubieboard2 is showing up in the network. I need to get the SPI interface going to talk to a microcontroller -- an STM32F303. I've enabled the particular SPI port I need in the cubieboard2.fex file (derived from the stock cubieboard2.bin file) and created the cubieboard2.bin file in /boot/bin after backing up the original. After that change, I rebooted. I got the /dev/spidev0.0 to show up. What do the parameters in the spi_board section mean? Is that documented somewhere? Thanks, Chri…

  2. I’m running ARMBIAN 5.38 stable on a Banana Pro and having the board go unresponsive regularly – meaning I can't login via SSH (getting a "port 22: Host is down" error) and applications stop running. I’ve used the Banana Pro board with an external 4TB harddrive via eSATA as a media/backup server with a similar software set up for several years (running regular updates). Occasionally it would go non-responsive, but I’d generally be able to run it for weeks without a restart. The need for a restart became more frequent until now it won't run for more than 12 hours without trying to log in via ssh and seeing “port 22: Host is down” and the programs like plex and …

I want to use an Android phone in USB tether mode to give its 4g connection to an interface on the opi zero then use a network bridge to join the 4g connection to the lan port, also the opi zero is gonna run a small section of code on the USB interface that changes the TTL of all packets through the interface. 10. I received my new Orange Pi Plus 2e and tried to set it up. I already got an Orange Pi PC2 running so it's not really something new to me. I used the latest Armbian images (desktop and server), flashed them to my SD card (with Etcher) and plugged it into the Pi. The green LED lights up and the device seems to be working. To this point it's the same as on my PC2. But after ~1min the red LED starts flashing twice over and over and nothing seems to be working. I get no signal over the HDMI out and the LED keeps flashing. I flashed the SD card three times to make sure it's not a flashing error. I tried the desktop image twice and the server image once. 17. I ordered OPI PC+ as a testing device for a potential battery/solar powered project (using OPI Lite/One later on) and while testing the built-in WiFi on OPI PC+, it seems it's not possible to power it off once enabled, or perhaps I'm doing something wrong. With wlan0 enabled, the idle current is roughly 310 mA, but after powering off, it drops to about 100 mA and stays that way until disconnected from DC. Attempting to do sudo ifconfig wlan0 down does not seem to change anything (wireless goes down, but the idle cu…

I messed with the script.bin, using http://linux-sunxi.org/Fex_Guide as a guide, but it didn't work I'm using a 64GB Samsung Class 10 card, but I've also tried other cards and it didn't work It works when using HDMI though Here's my script.bin (I'm pasting only the relevant part) I'm running the lastest version of armbian (5.20) What should I do now?

  49. Hi everyone, I have an armbian 5.38 headless system on an orange pi zero2plus board. Attached to this board there's the expansion usb board with a wifi dongle and another board connected to twi interface of the gpio header. I power supply the board from the same header with a 5V 5A power supply, I verified and I have no holes on 5V and 3.3V voltage. The external usb dongle is configured as AP with nmcli, the internal wifi board is configured as w-station and is hooked to my home network. On this system is running a python-flask-uwsgi "daemon" that I'm developing. Well, randomly my system hangs, I can't connect to my flask web page, I can't connec…

I believe the hardware is not at fault because it works correctly using the Friendl…

  51. Hi, I am using A20 Micro Olinuxino card. I have problems with legacy built (Ubuntu 3.4.110). I also tried the other built Vanilla (Ubuntu 4.4.1). The second one is successfully booted. However the first one, although I have tried several SD cards, did not continue after loading the kernel. The monitor shows a noisy image and stop working. I couldn't connect to it with SSH either. So the problem is not only with the HDMI connection or Xorg. Somehow kernel stops booting. The reason I want to use the older kernel is because it has NAND Flash support and video HW acceleration support (as stated in armbian.com). Please point me to right direction. Regards.

  52. I'm powering a small PCB via the OTG port on my OPI PC Plus, however sometimes I need to be able to reboot the device. It is possible to cut power to the OTG port momentarily to force a reboot? I've seen mention of PL2 GPIO, but it is unclear to me how this should be setup. I've also looked at uhubctl, but that didn't work. Thoughts?

  53. Hi, I installed 'Armbian_5.00_Bananapim2_Ubuntu_trusty_4.4.1_desktop' image recently, because I had some problems with sinovoip images (strange hugh? ). One of the problems was the gigabit ethernet slowness, but it seems with the armbian OS is still the same. I get around 30Mbit/sec only on iperf tests. I have tested my network connections & router and I can get much more speed through other computers, but the banana shows this slow mark. The gigabit ethernet connection was one of the reasons tu buy the banana, but I don't know if I am doing something wrong, if I have a bad unit, etc... I have found some internet benchmarks but all of them are based on the…

  75. Hello. Is there a way of resetting the USB subsystem in Armbian for Orange Pi Zero? I don't want to unplug and plug a USB device or reboot the system just to reset the plugged USB devices. The above is doable on a PC running Ubuntu with something like this: $: cd /sys/bus/pci/drivers/ehci_hcd $: ls 0000:00:14.0 bind module new_id remove_id uevent unbind $: echo -n "0000:00:14.0" > unbind $: echo -n "0000:00:14.0" > bind Wondering if something similar (I don't really care if the solution is not similar) is doable on Armbian for OPIZ. Hello, I am trying to get my Orange Pi One working with my ili9488 LCD screen. I followed a few "how-to's" , This one in particular There is a comment there that mentions how to do it on the Orange Pi. Also this post here. I must be missing something, because when I did all the actions listed in every "How To" I found; all I get is a black screen with a white bar down the side. Does anyone know of a comprehensive how-to on getting this screen to work?

  92. I want to use an OPI zero (armbian 5.31) to log data from a smart meter to influxdb. Everything works, but after 5 hrs i cant ssh into the pi - also, no data is written to the db. The pi has heatsinks and the temperature is around 53°C. Now i tried it without the logging and after 5 hrs, the pi was again not reachable (i dont know, if it crashed or only the connection went down). Last try was with a pi lite which showed the same behavior. What could be the problem?

I haven't had any luck getting the ov5640 camera module working with the nanopi air. I have compiled the latest dev version of bionic and enabled the ov5640 as a module in menuconfig. I currently cannot get it showing up under /dev/video* Any ideas?

Hello, i have some troubles with analog out of my Orange Pi PC. I thought i have the right cable which is assembled similar to this way: or more like this: But i almost break my device plugin it. This what have to be right channel (red) and pin 2 in the first picture, is shorted with pin 1 to GND when plugged. This confuse me a little, because the other way have to be similar to this: So before i resolder it this way, if anyone knows the correct order of jack pins, or have the right cable and can measure it, please let me know.

  98. Hi, Just did a fresh 5.49 build, OPi PC, legacy, Ubuntu console/server. Ethernet network is not working (out of the box) It does not get an IPv4 address automatically Tried to and got it enabled via nmtui, it was showing an 'eth0' as activated and a 'Wired connection 1' as deactivated. I activated the wired connection1, it automatically removed the eth0 from the list and then it has taken an IP address. Did a reboot, though after reboot it was again not working, it did not retained settings. NMTUI show again eth0 as activated and 'wired connection' as deactivated. And no IP address is given to the b…

  99. Hi, I did a dist-upgrade on my BPi M1. Now it is running on ARMBIAN 5.73 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.7.3-sunxi When I choose a newer kernel in armbian-config after the reboot it is still running with the old kernel. When I do an apt-get upgrade it shows this error in the output: update-initramfs: failed for /boot/initrd.img-4.20.7-sunxi with 1 The BPi is booting from SSD with LVM. Thank you very much for any help. Regards, Robert

  100. Hi guys, I have been following this two sources below while trying to build my own pps ntp server with orangepi plus. I have got gpsd and pps work. However, I have ran into the problem that the chrony I got from apt-get doesn't have pps support. It will outputs "Fatal erre : refclock driver PPS is not compiled in". I have tried building chrony from source with timepps.h but that couldn't even run properly without pps source. I am stuck with the problem. I would appreciate any advice. Thanks! 1. 2. https://www.blackmagicboxes.com/?p=581
