Hello, I have a cubieboard A10 connected to a SSD drive (transcend) trough the sata port. I use it as a headless server to run transmission, nfs and barracudadrive. The board runs from a sandisk 16gb µSD card, the data is on the SSD (with dynamic links). I use the standard legacy armbian image without DE. The SSD is powered by the board and the board is powered with a 2A 5V power supply, comming from a sony psp. If I measure the powerconsumption at the wallsocket, I measure 6W in idle and it goes up to 10W in use (so just enough for the power supply). Because there is a specialist here in powerconsumption (tkaiser), I wonder if it isn't possible to make …

  2. Hello, I've flashed my SD card with Armbian_5.41_Orangepiwin_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.107_desktop and after booting the system everything works like a charm except my sound which I've tried to get through the 3.5mm jack. I've done upgrade && update but that doesn't seem to help. I've tried several headphones and speakers and none of them worked. On top of that I've tried flashing this image file on one other microSD card and I've tried running it on another Opi Win Plus board since I have several of them lying around my house. Regarding my power supply, it's 5V 3A which I've read is the appropriate one. I'm fairly ne…

Hi all, first of all, I'm new to this forum even if I've been using Armbian on my Olimex Lime2 since lot of time and I find it a great project; thanks and keep up the good work! Now: I would like to use the Lime2 SPI #2 on pins "b" in master mode to communicate with a single slave device. What I did was: 1) downloaded Armbian v5.31 (latest available release at the time I write) 2) following the guide at https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Allwinner_overlays/ I modified /boot/armbianEnv.txt to contain: verbosity=1 logo=disabled console=both disp_mode=1920x1080p60 overlay_prefix=sun7i-a20 rootdev=UUID=8cf9ed72-8225-4db8-a3a2-a242d648d…

  6. I am operating a headless data acquisition system with Orange Pi Zero Plus2. In the readings I collect among others data from a discrete separate 18B20 sensor and record the H3 CPU temperature. The 18B20 reading comes from the w1 kernel routine, the CPU temp is provided by armbian OS. With the new OS 5.8.16 I see a strange effect: reading .... the external sensor at /sys/bus/w1/devices/<sensID>/temperature and the CPU temperature at /etc/armbianmonitor/datasources/@soctemp it gives the same reading correct to a 1/100 degree. Even when the system runs low power - this cannot be true. I have no idea how these results can be mixed in t…

  8. I own an orange pi PC PLUS for about a year and when I got it, I tested it and it worked fine when it booted up from the internal MMC, then I tried to make a server and I think I messed up something with the LAMP I was trying to make so I stashed the PI to play with it later. Now when I turn on the PI, it only loops and never loads the OS, so I downloaded Focal and buster from this link and burned them to an SD and it also loops in this screen, https://imgur.com/WzikUoo what could be wrong? my idea is to reinstall the OS to the internal MMC so I can then install home assistant. thanks in advanced.

Hello, My name is GNUser and as the name implies, I use GNU system For privacy and security reasons (though also some philosophical ones) I decided to run only free software on my machines. For example my laptop has Trisquel installed which is a FSF approved distro. I also use Debian a lot, with the main repository only available (other repositories might contain or suggest non-free software). My question is this: the images of armbian available here, I understand they are built on top of debian, but which kernel are they using? The kernel that Debian usually provides (for x86/64) is a debblobed kernel, with no proprietary pieces. Is that the case with these ima…

Hi folks, I'd like to build a simple rs485 interface onto an A20-OLinuxino-Micro board. Therefore I was looking into utilizing one of the UARTs (6 or 7) on EXT1 or EXT2, add an external driver chip to it and 'fork' the according kernel module to implement support for switching send/receive with the RTS line. While that seemed to be an easy approach, I already got stuck with the basics. :-( dmesg shows me [ 2.822776] printk: console [ttyS0] disabled [ 2.842962] 1c28000.serial: ttyS0 at MMIO 0x1c28000 (irq = 53, base_baud = 1500000) is a U6_16550A [ 2.843045] printk: console [ttyS0] enabled [ 2.866650] 1c29800.serial: t…

  49. Hello guys, I've been trying for the past month to get USB OTG and I2C to work on a NanoPI NEO AIR running Armbian, without any success. For OTG what I've tried was adding the following to "sun8i-h3-nanopi-neo-air.dts": &usb_otg { dr_mode = "otg"; status = "okay"; }; I have also enabled OTG and I2C in the kernel config menu, but for I2C I couldn't find what to put inside the DTS file. Can someone give me pointers on how to solve this, please? Yes, I am a very inexperienced developer when it comes to embedded systems and have very poor understanding of how to properly configure a device tree source file. Any help wo…

  51. Hi Guys, I installed armbian on an SD Card and the installed it to the eMMC. Which all worked fine. After a bit of tinkering, it would no longer boot (no ssh access) and when I insert the original sd card now it wont boot from that either. I think I read that the it won't boot from the sd card if there is a valid boot record on the eMMC, so what can I do now? Thanks

I know that the ILI9341 lcd are supported natively by armbian... But, now that i have received the lcd ordered some time ago: http://www.ebay.com/itm/311058563993 I'm trying to guess how i'm supposed to wire it to the cubietruck headers. Which are the pin numbers originally assigned to work with this lcd? Which are the correct options to load fbtft? I have digged around a little bit, but i can't find any working example.

I'm trying to recompile the image from source (because I want the kernel with SATA PMP support, and I got the SATA port multiplier and 3 drives ready), but failed in the last step. As the attached image, the problem should be caused by "Device or resource busy". I'm using a fresh downloaded Ubuntu 16.4 VB image and follow every instructions in github. So, how can I get rid of it? Am I missing something? Thanks.

Had a bit of a success with HDMI audio and also video acceleration on OrangePi 3. What was needed was to apply some patches from LibreELEC, namely ones from projects/Allwinner/patches/linux/ . For HDMI audio to work you need 0004-sun4i-i2s-improvements.patch , which contains support for I2S on H6. When done right you should see in dmesg: asoc-simple-card sound: i2s-hifi <-> 5091000.i2s mapping ok Also what helped was an IRC chat that Jernej had with mirko some time ago: https://irclog.whitequark.org/linux-sunxi/2018-03-14 For video acceleration you need 0005-cedrus-improvements.patch and compile Cedrus driver. 56. Hello, I am curious to hear how accurate the measurement of temperature is from the onboard sensors, particularly in my case for the Banana Pi M2+. While I do understand that the BPi M2+ suffered from poor choices for thermal management from the manufacturer both in hardware and software, I believe that thankfully Armbian has worked out the kinks on the software side, hasn't it? I am running the latest noble image, here's what I noticed. The temperature as shown by the sensors and armbianmonitor commands never really goes below 60° even on idle with ambient temperatures of around 25 to 30 degrees. My project is to make a NextcloudPlus on a Lime2 NAND version because of the following reasons : - Lime2 is Open source board, so no third party code into it - NAND version because I don't want to rely on a micro SD card, as it can be unstable for too many read/write (NextcloudPlus indexes a lot with sync). - SATA version because I would like to store data through a SATA HDD (I feel it is more stable than USB). 93. I installed Armbian onto a reliable 16GB class 10 SD card, put it into an Orange Pi 3 with a 5v 3000 mA power supply (not a phone charger) and I've bumped into this error.. ALERT! /dev/mmcblk0p1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell! The armbianmonitor -u command was not found so I had to take a photo of the computer screen. I'm not sure what is going on here and I couldn't find someone who had this error on an Orange Pi 3 before. If anyone has some advice I'd love to hear it.

  94. Hey there, I flashed the nand with phoenix tools and after that successfully installed Armbian from my sd to the nand. Somehow I have no write access on the nand. What do I need to do, to enable write access so I'm able to change config files etc. Beste regards, Eyst

  95. I've got an Orange Pi PC2, and I'm running some pretty CPU intensive tasks on it. However, I'm running into a situation where the processor is overheating and shutting down. I've got a bunch of OPiZero's, and on those I'm used to the kernel automatically throttling the CPU frequency down and/or shutting off cores in response to rising CPU temps -- but I'm not seeing that happen on the PC2 -- it just stays at max CPU speed until it overheats and shuts down. Is there a way to enable that same behavior on the PC2? (I'd rather it throttle down the CPU frequency instead of overheat...)

  96. Hello! I have Orange Pi Zero 3 I got Armbian image from this link - https://github.com/armbian/community/releases/download/24.5.0-trunk.474/Armbian_community_24.5.0-trunk.474_Orangepizero3_bookworm_current_6.6.28_minimal.img.xz Of course I've made apt update and apt upgrade And now I'm tying to install zigbee2mqtt using this guide - https://www.zigbee2mqtt.io/guide/installation/01_linux.html So, I can't list USB devices root@orangepizero3:~# ls -l /dev/ttyACM0 ls: cannot access '/dev/ttyACM0': No such file or directory root@orangepizero3:~# ls -l /dev/serial/by-id ls: cannot access '/dev/serial/by-id': No such file or directory I have …

  97. Hi, I installed on my Orange Pi Zero (not plus) armbian and using armbian-config I am trying to install Octoprint to control my 3d printer. I got an error: docker: Error response from daemon: error gathering device information while adding custom device "/dev/video0": no such file or directory I have no webcam attached and I am not planning to use it for now, Can I disable this check?

  98. I have a NanoPi Neo that's been up about 4 months and I am using it for DHCP and DNS caching (using dnsmasq). This has been working fine over SSH until after the update. Previously, I could log in, edit the dnsmasq settings, and restart the service without issue. Now, when I attempt to restart a service (not just dnsmasq, I tested a couple others), it hangs and looks like it's waiting for a password entry on the TTY. (I'm logged in over SSH and I do not have a TTY connected). ... in first SSH session, this just hangs forever until I ctrl-C: root@nanopineo:/etc# systemctl restart dnsmasq ... in second SSH session, PS shows: root 1825 783 0…

  99. Hello, Earlier on this week I decided to upgrade the kernel and the DTBs on my Armbian cluster (quite a few different boards but all of them based on Allwinner A20) from buster-next-5.92 to buster-current-20.08.2. Having successfully completed the upgrade on several other servers, I moved on to the lime2 one - which promptly failed to come back up after the reboot. Connecting the serial console shows u-boot doing its thing without issues and the kernel beginning to boot, producing normal messages - only to suddenly freeze. When exactly the freeze occurs varies, sometimes it even happens halfway through outputting a message line - but it is definitely before th…

  100. I have tested with two SDs - the same result. But vanilla works perfect! Strange is that after dd command I can't mount SDs with legacy, but vanilla I can. I've downloaded legacy twice.
