hello , I have Opi lite 2 I want to use it as low load server with minimal power consumption (min temp) I edited /etc/default/cpufrequtils like that min_speed=120000 max_speed=480000 governor=ondemand but it works on 888mhz constantly with load and without load (image 2) Ps: I have also OPi PC+ and edit of cpufrequtils works ok on it (image 1) what am I do wrong, or maybe armbian-config monitor doesn't work properly ? I'm willing to dusto off my H3-based Orange PI+ 2, because of all the great work that has being done recently on kernel 4.20, 5.0, 5.1 etc to support both H3 and Mali 400/450. However, for some reason, it seems that my board (even though it's officially supported) hasn't been updated past 4.19 kernel, so all the cool things are missing. On the other hand there are some WIP/no-yet-supported Orange Pi boards that DO support 5.1 kernel, so I'm a little bit confused. Is there any roadmap for newer kernels on H3 boards?

On the Orange Pi Zero Plus the pwm1 port is available on the header instead of pwm0. Ik have tried to create a custom overlay but it does create a pwm device but it is not working. pwm1 is on PA6 I have created a folder: overlay-user in /boot In this folder I created a sun50i-h5-pwm1.dts file with the following content: /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun50i-h5"; fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __overlay__ { pwm1_pin: pwm1 { pins = "PA6"; function = "pwm1"; }…

Hi guys, I am new here. I bought a NanoPi Neo (H3). I am new to Armbian, but not new to Debian. The NanoHat OLED works fine with UbuntuCore 16.04 and kernel 4.14. Tried installing Armbian_23.11.1_Nanopineoplus2_jammy_current_6.1.63.img and it is super slow during first boot process regardless of SD type. Localization craps out with "Failed to set time zone: Transport endpoint is not connected". I boot with wired Ethernet and when I get to a prompt I can ping outside locations. apt update produces "Hash Sum mismatch" Anyways, doing my part testing legacy boards, hahahaha

Is Video Decoding Hardware acceleration, CEC control and HDMI Audio Pass Through working on the OrangePiZero3 device? Thanks to its gigabit ethernet it would be the perfect replacement for my cheap amlogic Box which does only 4K25P due to hardware limitations..... Thanks for your input regarding this topic! Hello all, Where can I find the latest (and greatest?) version or Armbian. I think it is at the moment v5.24 . I looked at http://www.armbian.com/download/ and http://image.armbian.com/ . But no luck...? Is there another location? Or do I need to build from source? Thanks!

Hi, I would like to share an issue concerning the OPI Zero 2+ with the camera module. I was not able to work with it and I got usual error : [ISP] isp platform_id = 5! So far I was used to the Grub (and lilo) boot manager(s) but the Armbian 5.31 Bananapi Debian jessie next 4.11.5 image does some things differently. I have found the file /boot/armbianEnv.txt but none of the websites I found described what I should do with it. I tried to copy it to /etc but the changes did not take effect. I would like to remove the logo and have verbose boot messages. Could somebody help me to get there, please?

Hi there, my BananaPi won't boot after a (maybe failed) apt-get update. Is there anything i could try to make it work again? While apt-get upgrade was running, I saw (iirc) in the log that the kernel directory (?) isn't empty (?). This message stayed there for quite a long time but the update process ended without any error messages. Thank you.

Well, the title is self explanatory. I am trying the new stable release for the Orange PI win from armbian (thank you guys!) but when booting for the first time in headless mode via SSH through Ethernet cable it gets stuck at "Enter new UNIX password". I put the new password and nothing happens. If I unplug the cable to force the SSH server to close the connection and then I plug it back again, the password is kept the old one (default 1234) and the problem repeats. After some tests I finally got to change the password, but it gets stuck after, or even before sometimes if I reboot. It seems that the SSH tunnel is simply not stable. I should mention that the configura…

Just a quick question due to having just updated and rebooted my Cubietruck.... I was running 5.38 mainline Stretch, but I see that armbian-firmware 5.45 was installed over 5.38... so shouldn't the welcome screen now be saying "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.45" instead of "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38" still? Or is that package not the one that determines the Armbian 'version'? Maybe a better question would be what would update /etc/armbian-release ? The update process was otherwise smooth and doesn't seem to have rise to any nasty surprises . I also look forward to trying out the pineH64 image since I see that has just made a big jump, as well as th…

I recently picked up an Orange Pi Zero 3 and have been trying to figure out how to get the i2c pins working on the GPIO. The pinout shows pins 2 and 3 (229 and 228 according to the orange pi version of wiringPi) being used to i2c-3. The downloadable images seem to be hodge-podge with the orange-pi-os version based on arch linux. But their instructions appears to be based on earlier orange pi models that had an Orange Pi OS based on armbian which included a 'orangepi-config' command similar to raspi-config. There is no orangepi-config in the arch-based Opi-OS. A third party image from leeboby includes a current buster version of Raspbian but while it contains raspi-co…

Hi, this is my first post, my apologies, I could not find a matching topic category for this PCduino3 nano question/issue (no built-in wifi, I use a Roccar wifi dongle) I have successfully built the image using the armbian configuration script (bookworm current), the board boots and runs teslausb, however, I am unable to install the driver for my wifi dongle. The error when starting the install-driver.sh script is "your kernel headers are not properly installed". I tried apt install linux-headers-current-sunxi and kernel-headers-armmp, they install successfully but I still get the same error about the kernet headers not being properly installed. Th…

Hello Guys, The main reason I bought my orange pi One is to create custom softwares on it(mostly on Linux distro). I checked google and can't really decide which is the best programming language, which have a nice IDE, able to handle GPIO-s and other periferials like SPI, COM...etc, able to create a fair looking UI. Can someone suggest me some ideas? Programming language does not really matter. Any ideas are welcome Regards, G.

Hi, I a couple of days ago, I picked up the Mainline 4.9.7 Jessie image. It ran flawlessly untill last night when I installed samba/minidlna and mounted my hdds (3 usb hdds on a powered USB3 hub and 1 sata 3.5in hdd). When the minidlna was updating its library and keeping cpu usage up and while I was doing some network traffic the CT froze. I thought this was a physical network issue and I bonded the wlan0 and eth0 so that wlan0 acts as backup when eth0 is down. Usually I log on with ssh and keep this headless, but I remembered that I had the tv connected to the hdmi. I attached a pic (sorry for the quality) of the error message. It seems som…

Hi friends, I have read a lot document about booting orange pi zero over usb flash. I flashed latest mainline u-boot to orange pi's SPI Flash. I can boot the system via the usb port which is next to the ethernet. Can I boot the system via the usb ports USB2 and USB3 that the h2+ has and the expansion card that can use it?. I can not see these USB's through u-boot terminal. thanks.

Hi, I just realized that my Orange Pi Zero running Armbian now shows a completely wrong temperature reading using cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp This has not been the case until I updated to Armbian 5.38 by apt upgrade some days ago. Before that the reading was plausible. Not sure which exact version I was running before. I have a cpu temp monitoring script running and just realized that it now gets garbage. At the moment I get a reading of -12°C when outside temp is about 0°C (the OrangePi is in a water proof box outside on my roof). Not a serious problem, but seems to be a bug, so would be nice if it could be addressed :-) . …

I’m running ARMBIAN 5.38 stable on a Banana Pro and having the board go unresponsive regularly – meaning I can't login via SSH (getting a "port 22: Host is down" error) and applications stop running. I’ve used the Banana Pro board with an external 4TB harddrive via eSATA as a media/backup server with a similar software set up for several years (running regular updates). Occasionally it would go non-responsive, but I’d generally be able to run it for weeks without a restart. The need for a restart became more frequent until now it won't run for more than 12 hours without trying to log in via ssh and seeing “port 22: Host is down” and the programs like plex and …

Hi all! I have Orange Pi Zero with armbian kernel 4.14. i'm not sure about the topic name, but to me seems like that. I've managed to make spi tft work flawlessly on my zero. But after i've continued with touchscreen module, i've got problems. After X is started, i can confirm touch is working, because when i touch the display, mouse pointer moves. But in the strange way, very laggy (more than a second to respond), but is works only for ~10 secs, then display stops to redraw. And it is not because of bad contacts! Because i've soldered everything together. And it also freezes if i don't touch it. The system is still working tho,…

Hi guys, I just started using the new Armbian release on my cubietruck and Banana Pi boards and encountered the following problem. On the Cubieboard the wired interface first did not receive any IP address at all. I than tried as alternative to connect the wireless interface through the armbian-config tool. Which did work fine. However the wired interface is now receiving the same IP address like the wireless one. Currently the only way to resolve this issue is by going again through armbian config tool. I am also experiencing the symptoms on my banana pi board except that it does not have any wireless interface. Which th…

Hi, I am trying to write my own kernel module/drive for the NanoPi air, running a self-compiled version of armbian 5.83. Actually I only added the PREEMTION option to get real-time behavior when reading/writing from IO pins. I started using the "hello world" template from here. To get the module compiled I had to build the headers for my kernel as well using the option INSTALL_HEADERS in the armbian-build config file. The build debian-package called "linux-headers-next-sunxi_5.83_armhf.deb" was copied and installed on the NanoPi. OK, so now compiling (on the NanoPi - so no cross-compilation) works like a charm: > make make -C /lib/modules/4.…

Hi there, I want to migrate system on OPi PC+ from 32GB uSD card to 16GB card. System is small enough to fit on 16GB, but too large for 8GB eMMC (amazingly fast according dd). How to do it? My idea is: - copy (raw, using dd) first 8192 sectors from 32GB to 16GB, - then remove partition (32GB) and recreate it with 16GB size, format using same EXT filesystem, - copy (on another computer, or "simple" Armbian installed on eMMC) partition contents using rsync. Will it work? Will there be no issue with different UUID of new partition?

Hi all, I'm working with a BPI-P2 board. I installed the last Armbian version for BPI-M2 as the two boards are basically the same except the RJ45 connector and the eMMC. I installed it on an SD card, and everythig worked perfectly. Now I need to put the OS on the eMMC and then completely remove the SD card, but I'm struggling. The default Armbian for BPI-M2 is not intended to support eMMC, so I'm not surprised that with this version the eMMC dosn't show up. So I tried to modify the dtb and enable the eMMC nodes, and then reboot. Here the changes I made: mmc@1c10000 { reg = < 0x1c10…

Hello everybody, I would like to know what needs to be done to make this work. I simply copied over the sources of the r3p2 mali module into the 3.4.113 Armbian kernel source and the module wos built without error. Then I recompiled libump, libmali and fbturbu. But when I tried to put the gpu to work I got an error message: eglgetdisplay() returned no display. Since there was nothing helpful in the logs I coudn't investigate further where the problem lies. Has anybody had success with the newer mali drivers? Any hints are very welcome...THANKS! Paul

Here is my situation : 1) I saw that the only two available command line for Bluetooth on Armbian are bluetoothctl and bluetoothd 2) I saw in the file /etc/default/bluetooth that the bluetooth will automatically start at boot through the variable "BLUETOOTH_ENABLED=1" 3) I controlled the Bluetooth is well started by using the command line "syst…

I downloaded Ubuntu server from here https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2e/ and then burned it using Etcher to my SD card. I never loaded/installed any OS on my Orange Pi Plus2E before. Without SD card it permanently shows only Allwinner H3 logo on screen, so it seems no OS installed there. Red led is permanently on (not blinking) and nothing elase is happen. After I insert the SD card with the burned image I immediately get green LED on (not blinking), red LED is off. The monitor screen is permanently black and nothing else happens. When I connected USB/UART converter I saw the following in the logs: U-Boot SPL 2017.05-armbian (Jun 13 …

Hello, First of all, I did check/tried anything i could find on similar issues, for similar SBCs Main issue: only 2/4 USB ports are powered, but they don't recognize any device (keyboard, mouse, memory stick), although, if i plug in an USB hub, it lights up. I also tried an Android and and an Ubuntu LXDE, same problem. What bothers me is that mouse and keyboard worked with the original Android that came pre-installed on the board. Config: - Orange Pi plus 2E (the one with 4 USB ports) + heat sink + HDMI to VGA converter Power source: I tried 4 so far, currently using a PSU of 5.15 V and 4 Amps, through the DC input, jack ba…

Hello I have an issue with my HDMI display. Some of the desktop is out of screen. This is about 3% or 15px all around the screen. Changing resolution from 1080p down to 720p and down to 800x600 doesn't fix the borders. Armbian-config allows me to edit the booting environment. Atleast these lines won't work: disable_overscan=0 .... this can also be 1 with no effect overscan_x=-30 overscan_y=-30 .... these can also be positive with no effect also overscan_top, overscan_bottom, overscan_left and overscan_right don't work Only line that changes something is the one with resolution: disp_mode=800x600p60 I don't have zoom on this display or I have l…

Hi all, I've been struggling with the issue in the topic for a few days now. Actually the ideal solution would be a read-only root file system (with a writable overlayfs on top), so that I can just turn the power off, without risking any SD-card/filesystem corruption. There seems to be an easy solution for that according to this page: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/ section "How to freeze your filesystem?". But the package "overlayroot" that is mentioned there does not seem to be available for Debian (Armbian Stretch). A quick attempt to adopt the overlayfs-startup scripts to Debian failed, because Debian is using systemd and the…

Hello! The same issue was solved one year ago: Module 'nls_utf8' was missing in armbian 5.3.6 (4.13.16-sunxi64) Some time ago, the absence of a module was again discovered, without which the 'mount' with option 'iocharset=utf8' fails with error. Hi everyone, I am trying to setup a new armbian buster system on a lime2 eMMC board. Not currently using the eMMC. Wanted to have a regular armbian install on the sd card, and then an encrypted root partition on an SSD attached with SATA. I've done this before by loosely following this post If I setup a system without using dropbear to unlock the root partition and boot, and use a keyboard to enter the password to unlock it instead, that works fine. However, if I install the `dropbear-initramfs` package, copy my ssh keys to /etc/dropbear-initramfs/authorized_keys and then do `update-initramfs -u` the bootloader doesn't seem to get past the initial stages. Here …

Hello, After looking on the forum and on the internet I am turning to you. Here is my problem: armbian is currently running on an SD card and I would like to put it on the eMMC memory of my orange Pi 3 (8gb). When I run the sudo nand-sata-install script it offers me to install eMMc on my memory but tells me that the partition is too small. 8go seems largely sufficient to install armbian. You should know that this orange Pi already contains linux firmware in its internal memory. I figured this was due to the fact that maybe this version of armbian didn't support emmc memory, so I tried with the focal version, the buster version and the bionic version…

I am getting a quite loud audio spike / noise sound at the end of an audio play in python when using the following script: https://gist.github.com/bbence84/04d1935a92a4b4ab3d44bf182ea4bcc1 Wav to be played, but it does it with any other wav or mp3 file: https://easyupload.io/vbat12 It uses the speech_recognition package and the preferredsoundplayer package, but also the VLC python package shows the same when playing the audio. Hi. I'm using CubieTruck and Armbian mainline up to dated version. The CT is a headless server, so I don't connect any cable to it. However, one day the ssh server in CT did not work, I tried to connect CT to a monitor using HDMI cable. Even though I connect a cable, I could not see anything, and the monitor said 'No signal'. I want to see the screen when I connect CT with a hdmi cable, even if the cable has not been connected. (I hope you understand what I mean..) I followed thi…

Hi, I would like to know if there is a way to set the display resolution to 640x480, to use with an old CRT screen from a IBM PS/1 model 2011 that I want to revive. Hi, I thought instead of waiting for mainline kernel support for these boards, if it would be possible to use Allwinner H6 BSP 4.9.56 kernel? Hello, I am working with a Nanopi Neo Air incorporating the System on Chip Allwinner H3. I need to establish a serial communication via the SPI bus, to do this I am looking for some information related to the SPI bus. I have a NanoPi Neo Core and I'd like to analyse the SPI controller driver and why it toggles the lines the way it does. In the overlay file, all I see are mentions to 'spidev'. Where can I find out why the data lines shown below toggle the way they do? I.e. chip select goes low way before the clock line. The MISO line has a droop to GND briefly and the CLK line hangs high for a while before toggling... Thanks forum :). Yesterday, I tried to use the digital IO in my opi zero3, with the Python GPIO package from https://opi-gpio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ by Richard Hull It depends on having sysfs files in /sys/class/gpio/ My original opi zero has these files and it works, but my opi zero3 doesn’t have these files I learned that /sys/class/gpio is created if the linux kernel is configured with a specific option ON, as suggested in the documentation: https://github.com/rm-hull/OPi.GPIO https://linux-sunxi.org/GPIO Also, a developer has made a change on the opi.GPIO project to support opi zero3 https://github.com/rm-hull/OPi.GPIO…

I've noticed some other threads about Banana Pi builds not booting. I tried the 6.12v built on Jun 19 and that's when my device stopped booting. It won't even power on. I suspect the firmware update is corrupting the MicroSD card. I originally had an older build running and ran an update/upgrade and my system wouldn't boot (won't power on) after that. I purchased a new MicroSD card, and my system booted with an older build. Not realizing my MicroSD would get corrupted, I tried updating/upgrading again and I'm back to not booting. I don't have enough MicroSD cards to pinpoint the exact package. My working build is from 6.6.17, 24.5.0-trunk.58. It appear…

The problem is that there is no Line in device, my test with arecord: I have no idea on how to activate the Line in configuration. Do I need to enable it in .fex script? Or there is no hardware support? Can anyone help me? Thanks

I've just installed the Armbian 5.20 in the Banana PI M2. No boot. The message "Waiting for PHY auto negotiation to complete .....Timeout! Could not initialize PHY ethernet@01c30000" shows up over and over again and the boot freezes in sequence. Somebody knows what is going on?

A board (nanopi neo) collects some information and stores it to SD card. Users than change the SD card and open it on PC (windows). Due windows limitation, there is only one (first) partition (fat/ntfs) can be visible. Current mainline image for nanopi neo contains only one ext4 partition, so I tried to gparted it (moved first partition and made new FAT16 one), but for some reason, the image did not boot. So I'm looking for info, how to make two partitions properly.
