  1. Hi guys, I've been busting my head for days now trying to find a way how to permanently change MAC address on my ehternet on Opi Win Plus boards but nothing yielded positive outcome. The reason I need to permanently change MAC address is because I'll be running 6 of these boards on the same network and since all of them have identical MAC it's impossible for my router to manage them properly. I'm running Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.107_server with legacy kernel. I've tried changing the /etc/network/interfaces file by adding hwaddress ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx , changing from static to dhcp and doing all sorts of combinations in hopes that so…

  2. Hello, There are two physical USB port on the pi zero+ board : one is USB 2.0 host and the the second one is USB 2.0 OTG through a micro USB connector. As I power the card through the expansion pin I would like to turn the micro USB to a regular mode to connect a DVB dongle. With Armbian 5.38 and Kernel 4.14.14 (and also nightly build) I've done the following modification - in armbian-config enable usbhost0 - modify the /boot/dtb/allwiner/sun50i-h5-orangepi-zero-plus.dtb => decompile the file with dtc => edit the dts file and change the line dr_mode = "peripheral" to "host" => recompile the file and reb…

  3. Hi, I'm using Orange Pi 2E+ with 3.4 Multimedia kernel (intend on using Kodi) I have a DVI monitor I want to use, and a crappy HDMI > DVI adapter which for some reason doesn't let computers know that the DVI monitor is connected to their HDMI port Confirmed on 2 different computers. The adapter probably lacks the hotplug-detect pin because computers don't know there's a screen connected, but the screen will show an image if I force my laptop to send a video signal out it's HDMI port using xrandr. Is there a way (using .fex files or whatever) to make the kernel assume that there's a monitor with 1920x1080 resolution on the Orange Pi 2E's HDMI port? …

I just noticed there isn't a i2s/i2s0 overlay for the mainline kernel series: Linux orangepipcplus 4.14.78-sunxi #412 SMP Fri Oct 26 11:37:04 CEST 2018 armv7l GNU/Linux https://github.com/armbian/sunxi-DT-overlays/tree/master/sun8i-h3 Is it a simple matter of just adding some text files for DT? Or was i2s intentionally left out because or some conflict for example? (I had good luck with legacy on Banana Pi Pro a long time ago with fex, so I'm guessing it's a unintended omission?)

  9. Just for information, I have tested ADS7846 touchscreen on new 4.19.y Bionic Orangepi one. What I did to get it work: 1. Upgrade dtc to version 1.4.7. By default it was dtc version 1.4.5 and I have get errors while trying to do " armbian-add-overlay sun8i-h3-spi-ads7846.dts" 2. There is missing driver in kernel by default, so I have installed ubuntu bionic 18.04.1 LTS on PC. After that use this guide https://docs.armbian.com/Developer-Guide_Build-Preparation/ Switch on ADS7846 module, then install new compiled package linux-image-next-sunxi_5.74_armhf.deb on OrangePi-one.

Hi Igor, while trying to reproduce/fixing my boot problem, I stumbled across some weird things regarding your new update script. I've put a complete new image on sd-card only (Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_trusty_4.2.3) which works fine, boots and reboots. Then I've tried to use your update script which I called via: wget -q -O - http://upgrade.armbian.com | bash with the letter O and a blank between the minus and http, is this correct? First strange thing I noticed is, that it starts but doesn't run through completely. It ends with this output: Don't think that this should be the normal behaviour!? I Installed the Armbian system who is dedicated for my OPI version: http://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ with instruction, formatted SD card with format size adjustment option ON. But when I want to boot it there is only still green light (steady all time). OPI not giving any boot information on screen. This issue is not caused by SD card becasue I tried two (which one is recommended): Kingston 32GB (class 10) and Samsung EVO+ 32GB. Has anyone had similar experience or have any idea how to solve this?

  18. Hi there, I pulled the latest changes from github and created a fresh Debian Jessie Armbian Image for my BananaPi M2+. Specifically, I run: BOARD=bananapim2plus BOARD_NAME="Banana Pi M2+" VERSION=5.21 LINUXFAMILY=sun8i BRANCH=default ARCH=arm Through a lot of debugging and googeling, I found that the latest armbian Image uses a different BCM driver (https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/issues/484). I want to use an ESP-12F to add wireless to my NanoPi Neo, but I don't think the Neo has broken out all the connections I'd need. Hackaday desctibes how to interface a Raspberry Pi B+ to an ESP-12F (https://hackaday.io/project/8678/instructions), but the Neo seems to lack some of the required pins. I like this idea since I've liked the performance and ability of every esp8266 system I've used. Their wifi network is solid, and they're low cost. Is this a lost cause or is it possible? Or perhaps this is a dumb idea? I'm not sure how well it'll perform vs a usb wifi modules, but the idea has captured my imagination.

  22. Hi. I would like to install Armbian on Cubieboard2 with eMMC as internal storage and have faced some problems. The first challenge was to make eMMC accessible, it was solved using .fex from cubieboard sdk for this revision (also tried cubieboard2dual.fex, but without any effect). The second problem was behavior of nand-sata-install included in desktop image - it overwrite wrong root partition (external SD instead of eMMC), but it was also solved using latest version of nand-sata-install. But after installation, system isn't booting from eMMC. Since root filesystem is successfully copied to eMMC, I think there is problem with bootloader. Is there an…

  37. First sorry for starting a similar thread here and in [1]. I try to read a DS18B20, which does not work with Armbian, DietPi, and Friendlyarm's Ubuntu. This morning, my idea was to slow down the CPU - and it worked. In detail: By running some useless cpu consuming python scripts, reading the DS18B20 works fine. As soon as i stop them, reading the sensor immediately fails. So there might be some timing issues in the implementations of w1-gpio and w1-gpio-board. Are there any hints how i can get these issues fixed? Thanks! Thomas [1] http://www.friendlyarm.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=47&t=393

No suppport for the onboard devices But today a user did wrote that - with the actual stable Pine64-image ( Armbian_5.69_Pine64_Debian_stretch_next_4.19.13 ) WiFi is useable. So I flasded the Pine64-image to a MicroSDCard and did boot. Additiionally I did see with "aplay -l" the HDMI and the analog Sound-device. But ethernet…

  45. I encountered a very strange boot behavior on OrangePI Plus 2E. When I boot from SD card with the desktop Armbian image, I'm having just an input of some color on HDMI (photo attached). No U-boot output on screen, but considering UART output both U-boot and system boot with no errors (log file is attached). Boot with the server Armbian image goes just fine, except no U-boot output on screen (only on UART) and screen resolution is 1280x720, while native resolution for the display is 1920x1080. Until recently everything worked just fine with both desktop and mainline images, and U-boot giving proper output on screen in 10920x1080 resolution. What I tried so far: …

  65. Recently I borrowed my Orange Pi PC2 to a friend, and he fails to set up SSH connection w/ it. After debugging w/ HDMI monitor, I found ssh_host_ecdsa_key, ssh_host_ed25519_key and ssh_host_rsa_key are preloaded to the Orange Pi PC2 image, which prevented SSH from working. Even if it doesn't prevent working of SSHD, it's also a severe security hole -- that means all Armbian installation with the same image will uses the same host key and they're vulnerable to MITM attack. I think these files should be purged when generating image, and regenerated when first powerup. It's what AOSC OS images do.

So would rule out a wiring problem at the moment. My SoC is a Banana PI M1 ( http://www.banana-pi.org/m1.html ) The strange thing is, that 1-Wire wont come up by itself, I have to run mo…

I am trying to configure my Banana Pi M2 Zero to use UART to communicate with my 3D Printer. I used Armbian config to setup UART 3 (Pins 8 & 10). I can't seem to communicate over the port. How do I test and do I need to make other config changes? Thank you!

  90. I have tried 3 Orange Pi 3 images on my orange Pi 3 LTS. None of them will mount the root fs and continue booting. It shows btrfs, but the partition is ext4 and the armbianEnv.txt file has the correct UUID and ext4 stated. I can boot an image from the OrangePi website, so I am 99% certain it is not the power supply or sd card.

  91. I have a question, does anyone know a method to start in the Opi Lite system the I2S audio interface and in particular I mean the module: PCM5102 / PCM5102a On my old OrangePi Lite board, sound and audio in the configuration as mentioned above really work great ... but unfortunately the Armbian system that I use is no longer supported. This is the Ubuntu version (xenial) and kernel: 3.4.113-sun8i, I managed to update some programs important to me, e.g. mpd / mpc but not to the latest versions. I also have another version of OrangePI 3 LTS and I know that on this model it is rather impossible to start I2S + PCM5102 so I used a good sound card under USB and it is OK. Ho…

  92. Hello Igor and congrats for your contribution and regards to community! As the title points, is there any chance to create a Lubuntu image that will out of the box support all Pis (Banana Pi, Banana Pro, BPi-R1) with SATA, audio, networking and video acceleration? If it's too much, does anyone knows what OS is close to that requirements at least for BPi-R1? Or can we build something like this from scratch with your resources? I tried to create a new image based on LeMakers Lubuntu for Banana Pi (http://jubitoblog.blogspot.gr/2015/06/jubitos-z-operating-system-for-internet.html - http://jubitoblog.blogspot.gr/2015/02/jubitos-for-banana-pi.html) without much luck, …

    How can view kernel version?

  96. Hello, I am trying to switch from an older wheezy (lemaker) install to a newer Armbian Jessie install, (5.14 Armbian).By using the Legacy Kernel I can load ft5x drivers for the 5" PCAP Screen. So Far, everything is working normally except much faster and reliable. My Problem is that I can't read the analog voltage from my MCP3002 anymore using spidev python module. I have spidev and spi-sun7i in /etc/modules ls /dev/spi* /dev/spidev0.0 /dev/spidev0.1 dmesg | grep spi [ 1.202344] [spi-inf] Found 2 spi devices in config files [ 1.209170] [spi-inf] boards num modalias max_spd_hz bus_num cs mode [ 1.212928] [spi-inf] spi_board0 …

  97. Hello, i've got a problem with my orangepi lite. Here are a few posts about problems with connecting to wifi networks, but my device can't even find wifi networks (with iwlist wlan0 scan ). In my area are multiple access point active. The OS is armbian for OrangePi Lite Version: 5.20. iwconfig shows the chip with no errors. I have tried multiple settings in /etc/network/interfaces and /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf after posts in this forum but nothing is working ...

Following the instructions from the download page for the Lime2-eMMC we tried to apply the commands listed, but it looks that something is garbled here source is not a command AFAIK and if I use it as an apt-get option the system complaints about missing entries in sources. What is the correct way?

Hello! I wrote the legacy image to a sd card and put it into the card slot. I can see something like diagnostic message and then "starting kernel". After that there is no video output. Neither over VGA nor over HDMI. Is that wanted? I tried 3 different monitors, but no chance. I can connect via ssh after a few minutes, but using a monitor and a screen would help, when there is no network. What am I doing wrong? Greetings, Pille
