  1. I just recently obtained a new Cubietruck A20 and I downloaded the latest armbian bionic, formatted my micro SD card and put the downloaded image on it (with Etcher). The board boots and everything is good .... until I get to the root prompt. The board doesnt boot to the desktop gui at all. Has anyone else experienced this? What steps am I missing? Can someone guide me to the proper armbian install for the Cubietruck a20? I am using an HDMI monitor with it. Thanks.

  3. Hello everyone, I'm trying to set up a system as musicjukebox supporting -MPD -USB Audio -WlanAP -7"Display With the Raspbian Image of banana-pi(dot)org with Kernel 3.3 lcd works but usb-sound not. With kernel 4.2 it is the other way around. The support is very bad in my opinion, so I'm looking somewhere else. Is armbian able to satisfy my needs? Or do I have to do much compiling/programming, which would be all new to me as a linux beginner... Regards Andre

  4. First of all I have to mention, that my knowledge of linux is very small. I started with raspberry about two years ago and switched to cubietruck. First I didn't use Igor's image, because I wanted to have a graphical front end. After getting used to putty and ftp I swithed to Igor's image - it was very convenient, small and fast. So I also bought a banana, when Igor published an image for it, and a cubox i Pro. All of those images worked out-of-the-box - it was a pleasure to work with it, especially for a noob. In the meanwhile I switched to RasPi2 for a while, but yesterday I wanted to start again with the other ones. So I downloaded the latest images. But big s…

The second boot a kernel panic occurs. See http://pastebin.com/47t45ujr Is this a known problem? Regards

  10. Hi, I'm trying to install Armbian 5.20 vanilla kernel to eMMC on my Opi PC+. After nand-sata-install finishes I shutdown the Opi PC+ and power it back on. At least, I enable the power, I don't see anything happening in minicom on my pc. Only when powering it with a microsd in the slot (with armbian) will the uboot show in minicom on my pc. Doing a nand-sata-install with 5.14 legacy worked. What am I doing wrong (especially seeing nothing after a reboot with my ttl-to-usb connected is a bit strange for this noob)?

  12. Hi everyone, I'm facing a problem with logrotate on my OrangePi Zero with Armbian Focal mainline. Basically I have a process that is always running with a `tee` command that outputs the stdout to a log file in the /var/log/ directory. My logrotate configuration file looks like the following: /var/log/smartbit/gocpp.log { rotate 10 daily compress missingok notifempty copytruncate dateext } It's all working correctly except the copytruncate part: logs are daily rotated and gzipped but the gocpp.log is not truncated to 0 bytes, so it gets bigger and bigger. Normally when you have installed a XFCE-Desktop image for the Pinebook A64 you could set the display brigthness with the following pkexec command to a readable higher level - like I did in the past (possible brightness values are 1-10 - on startup this is only set to 2): pkexec /usr/sbin/xfpm-power-backlight-helper --set-brightness 8 read-out command for the current value: pkexec /usr/sbin/xfpm-power-backlight-helper --get-brightness but on standard CLI-install pkexec and xfpm-power-backlight-helper are missing, so to use this command-line (in /etc/rc.local) you have to install these 2 packages: sudo apt install xfce4-powe…

  17. Hi everybody, I work on my Orange Pi Plus 2 since a few days now. I've installed Armbian with linux Kernel 3.4 (Debian Jessie) on eMMC. One of my main objectives is to bond the WiFi and the Ethernet interfaces in one interface called bond0 (I've seen many examples on how to do this on the Internet). My configuration seems to be good (it's based on the default interfaces.bonding file, just changed it with my WiFi parameters). When I restart networking service, none of my interfaces get up. I've tried to update/upgrade my stystem, reinstall ifenslave. I've also checked module list with lsmod, it returns a lot of names, but not "bonding" module. …

  24. Hi, I just realized that my Orange Pi Zero running Armbian now shows a completely wrong temperature reading using cat /sys/class/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp This has not been the case until I updated to Armbian 5.38 by apt upgrade some days ago. Before that the reading was plausible. Not sure which exact version I was running before. I have a cpu temp monitoring script running and just realized that it now gets garbage. At the moment I get a reading of -12°C when outside temp is about 0°C (the OrangePi is in a water proof box outside on my roof). Not a serious problem, but seems to be a bug, so would be nice if it could be addressed :-) . …

  25. Hi all, I've been struggling with the issue in the topic for a few days now. Actually the ideal solution would be a read-only root file system (with a writable overlayfs on top), so that I can just turn the power off, without risking any SD-card/filesystem corruption. There seems to be an easy solution for that according to this page: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Advanced-Features/ section "How to freeze your filesystem?". But the package "overlayroot" that is mentioned there does not seem to be available for Debian (Armbian Stretch). A quick attempt to adopt the overlayfs-startup scripts to Debian failed, because Debian is using systemd and the…

    Hello everyone. I just got an Orange Pi Plus 2e, which I intend to use a as a personal cloud server. I understand that, in this board, Legacy Kernel is much better than Mainline for desktop usage (video accel, TV out, etc.), but I am not so clear about which one is better for a server. May main concerns are: Ethernet and Wifi speed and reliabililty (ethernet will conect to Internet, and Wifi to home devices as an AP) I/O speed for the USB attached HD Security Any advice about which Kernel to choose? Thanks!

Moreover - I do not know how to do it. Thanks.

I found another forum post that says root is disabled via SSH by default. When I try to connect locally, I get no video from HDMI so I don't know what it's loading up to. 50. Very grateful to armbian to provide such a good image! Armbian has released many images that have been packaged with OMV。 I am follow this link for a long time:http://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/NumpU8/ I'm happy to see more and more mirrors available。 I used one of the images named OMV_3_0_72_Orangepiplus2e_3.4.113.7z and it works good,Special thanks to tkaiser! There is another model(Orangepiplus2) that is better suited for NAS Because it has a sata interface https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2/ Can Armbian provide OMV images of the above motherboards? At last, sorry for my poor English.

    I recently created some new images using the most recent armbian scripts. For some reason my Jessie image is not coming up (see my other thread regarding network not coming up), but I did managed to get a wheezy image up and running on my BananaPi using latest / next. The problem I am having is the partition size is extremely small (about 500-600MB) and does not appear to be resize to fully utilize the SD card. It's been a long while since I created an image, but I vaguely remember the image resizing to maximize the SD card space. I basically had to manually resize the image by deleting and recreating the partition. Is there some way to specify the image size …

  56. I realize there have been a few topics on this, but it seems to me that this was considered fixed. When using 5.23 with a 4.8 kernel, the MAC address was stable. After upgrading to 5.25, the MAC address was still the same as before. However after an outage, the two boards running 5.25 came up with a new MAC address (two boards still running 5.23 came up with the same MAC address). Then the MAC address seems to change every boot. The problem is that the FiOS router (an ActionTec) I have remembers both the machine name and the MAC address (it nicely creates a DNS entry). If the same name appears with a different MAC address, it ignores the name from DHCP and cre…

I put some relevant data, from now on thanks. root@orangepizero:~# /usr/sbin/hostapd /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf Configuration file: /etc/hostapd/hostapd.conf nl80211: Could not configure driver mode nl80211: deinit ifname=wlan0 disabled_11b_rates=0 nl80211 driver initialization failed. wlan0: interface state UNINITIALIZED->DISABLED wlan0: AP-DISABLED …

  97. Hi, I am a newbie to Armbian so I apologize if this is a stupid question. I am running Armbian legacy. I think I have successfully programmed a GPIO shutdown button for the Orange Pi Zero by cobbling together information from this and the Orange Pi forum. My script goes like this, in file hw_shutdown.py: #!/usr/bin/env python import os import sys import subprocess if not os.getegid() == 0: sys.exit('Script must be run as root') from time import sleep from subprocess import * from pyA20.gpio import gpio from pyA20.gpio import connector from pyA20.gpio import port button_shutdown = port.PA2 #PIN 20 """Init gpio module""" gpio.in…

  98. Hi, I trying to use UART 1 & UART 2 at OPi Zero 2 Plus with no success with armbian stable and ubuntu server. I test all combinations, of fex settings, turn off everything except required uarts, set uart_type = 2 and etc, and it did not connect. UART0 and UART3 works fine, but I need cts-rts lines from uart2 for hi speed (it's uart_type = 4, but I would like to start regular uart first). tested with picocom, ft232 & pl2303 I use 8 & 10 pins for uart 1 and 11&13 for uart2 as described at http://linux-sunxi.org/Orange_Pi_Zero Is it correct pins? Thanks

  100. I downloaded the armbian focal image for NanoPi NEO/Core board, and it works great. (Specifically, Armbian_20.11.10_Nanopineo_focal_current_5.10.4.img, so it's a few months old.) I'd like to start creating my own image, and I'm all setup to do that, but what I'd love to do is start from the .config file(s) used to create the image I'm using. That way I have a known base configuration from which to start modding. Are those available anywhere to download? Thanks!
