How enable UART1 (pin 8 and pin 10) or UART2 (pin 11 and pin 13) I re-read a lot of documentation but did not find a solution, everyone writes abstractly. There is a concrete decision how to include it for orange pi (zero or one) and armbian. Correctly I understand that UART1 is ttyS1 and UART2 is ttyS2?????? p.s. Help, I'm ready to even pay for help ) uname -a Linux orangepizero 4.11.5-sun8i #11 SMP Fri Jun 23 20:03:23 CEST 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux

Hello! Today installed a test build armbian in my OPi Zero2+ H5. And I can't figure out how to enable HDMI. Connect UART and everything works fine and configured. But when connected to HDMI, nothing happens. The display blinks a couple of times on and off. How can I solve this problem?

I'm trying to use the kernel-driver (1) for a DHT11 (or DHT22) humidity sensor with my NanoPi NEO. I'm already got this sensors working with some little C example-programs in userspace. I figured out that I need to apply a Device Tree overlay because the driver (dht11.c) needs to know the gpio-pin where the sensor is connected to. So - I don't know how to write such a file from scratch - I customised a existing overlay file - "sun8i-h3-pps-gpio.dts" (2) - only the lines "pins" (PG6) & "compatible with" (dht11) & "gpios" (&pio 6 6 1) /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-h3"; fragment@0 { …

Hi I have NanoPi-M1 board. It has two type of Ubuntu-Core as you can see here(https://www.mediafire.com/folder/3q2911p1qp33p/NanoPi-M1Board#dc73df73c6dk6) with kernels (3.4.39 amd 4.11.2). But when I try modinfo fbtft It says there is no file or directory like this! But I think it should be exist in kernels with version above 4.10. By the way, I need this kernel support to running my LCD! Are there any Armbian version like Ubunto core with this module support on kernel? Or can I add this support to yhose Ubuntu files in above link? how?

Hello, will there be a dedicated Armbian version for NanoPi Duo? I have tried Armbian_5.33.171013_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.5.img, which worked on the Duo. Mosquitto, Node-RED and WiringOR could be installed without problems. One thing doesnt work until now is WLAN, which is not recognized by nmcli dev. Would be fine to get a validated Duo version. Hi Armbians, I'm running two identical Cubietrucks with Armbian Jessie systems in headless (very lean) mode without any X-Windows or the like. Both boot from 16GB SD-Cards. Now one of them, which had encountered a number of power failures, suddenly ran out of space on the SD-Card (100% usage of / ), while the other CT only shows 22%. I ran across this phenomenon, when the system failed to carry out an apt-get update at one point and important services Samba were no longer started. I then searched the root filesystem for culprits but there was nothing suspicious ... So I thought there might be a partial "destruction" of the fil…

Hi. I'm using Cubietruck, and installed Ubuntu server(mainline) on it. Suddenly, I can't write to disk(SD card). Actually, yes I can. I could create, edit, or even delete files, but all the changes are gone after the Cubietruck is rebooted. The deleted files are back, and created files are gone. What should I check? My SD card is Samsung Evo 16GB, and I'm running Cubietruck for more than 2 years. I have never encountered this weird situation.

I've been away from armbian for a few months and came back to build a new project with my orange pi one but the nightly/recent mainlines builds seem to have stopped. I need a mainline kernel, and can grab one that's a few months old, but I wanted to be sure they haven't been moved. I'm not complaining! Just asking. With the number of boards available with armbian there has to be a lot of overhead doing nightly builds with few users, so it's not too surprising to see a change. I looked thru the sticky notes, but could not find a relevant post. Thanks!

Hi, I try without success to attach the a.m. adapter to my NanoPi Neo. OS is Armbian_5.25_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 I did two trials in order to install the driver: 1. Download the Edimax driver und run the install.sh script. Result: Error in the processing of the make file. 2. Followed an comprehensive advice from the net. Result: Error in kernel generation. Question: Has somebody got this device running on the Neo? And how you have performed this? Please consider, I am just a Linux user, but (unfortenately) no expert. Any hints are very welcome. Thanks, Walter

Hello! I recently bought a generic Waveshare 800x480 HDMI (B) USB Touchscreen (rev 3.0), and I'm having problems to make it work properly on Armbian. After a long research, I ended up realizing it's a common problem, and yet I haven't been able to find a solution. It seems there was a patch somewhere, but that link is not available anymore. I'm using the Armbian Desktop 5.31 , running on an Orange Pi One. I've already set it up using h3disp -m 800x480 -d, and tried everything but it won't work. Vertical resolution seems to be right, but horizontal only fits around 3/4 of screen and it's noisy (the same problem everyone seems to have). I have tried this with my P…

Hello, I know one should't ask or complain here regarding the dev kernel branch, but maybe somebody of you stumbled upon this and knows where to point me: I successfully build and used the "dev" kernel several times for the BananaPi (Allwinner A20 Soc) and it works just fine. The patch regarding the axp209 sysfs interface can simply be taken over from the from the "next" kernel branch and you get a working temperture reading from the axp209 pmu. I still haven't managed to get the internal soc's temperature sensor working in dev kernel, though. I know it has something to do with the touchscreen driver but couldn't find out what exactly is required to make it…

Hello and hi everyone. So I've got a Cubietruck with the NAND replaced by TSD eMMC. The TSD behaves like an SD card, and previously tested to run OK using Cubieez-TSD. However, I need to run Node.JS on the Truck, and the Cubieez Debian Wheezy Node.JS support stops at v6 (now we're at NodeJS v8). Ubuntu Xenial will still have NodeJS v8 support, so it's good excuse to change to a new OS. I'm using this image to successfully flash my SD card: Armbian_5.31_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. First time booting the CT from SD, I got the usual prompt, then the desktop loaded. First problem: The screen is misaligned. https:…

Hi, Need to have a point to point ethernet network without any router or dhcp server in between two OPiPC running legacy and Ubuntu desktop. Currently, when I connect a ethernet cable between them, they get valid IPs (IPv4LL) after 5 minutes so that might be the dhcp timeout today (300sec?). Tried to see where this value is in order to get it lower, so to have faster their valid IPs and start working, but could not find it in Armbian, any hints on where to look for that timeout value?

Is there currently a known problem with some of the Repos used by H3 Armbian Mainline (OrangePi Plus 2). For the last few days, when I run apt update, I get timeout messages on some repos. The repos that are consistently timing out are: http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial InRelease http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial-updates InRelease http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial-updates/main armhf Packages Additionally, this Repo sometimes times out, and sometimes succeeds, but takes a long time: https://deb.nodesource.com/node_6.x xenial InRelease Please let me know if you require more info. I have downloaded Ubuntu desktop – legacy kernel on https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc-plus/ and installed it on class 10 SD card with Etcher ( Armbian_5.30_Orangepipcplus_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop.img). I'm using 3A 5V power …

i'm trying to make suspend on lid close work. i saw in this thread that some people are aware that there's a problem. i'd prefer to achieve this from within xfce4-power-manager. here's the thing: 1. using the normal xfce desktop * for "when laptop lid is closed", only 'lock screen' and 'switch off diplay' are available * "System sleep mode" is completely grayed out, as well as security 'lock screen when system is going to sleep' * the 'Ask' option is available only for "Buttons". Choosing it, then choosing "Suspend" from the dialog, causes the ui to hang (desktop darkened), but after a minute i can 'escape' …

I was wondering if I could have automount feature for every UFD or USB Hard Drives to the /media folder. As i've investigated it, it would only mount if I get to click its icon on the desktop. I'm running bananapi as my headless file/media/print server. I shared the /media folder to the network through samba and was kept wondering why I'm unable to access every flash and hard drive I'm connecting to my bananapi as it does in my Raspberry Pi (when I share its /media folder in samba). Is there anything that I could do instead of adding it to fstab and manually restarting or manually mounting it every time I connect a media to my Banana Pi server? …

It boots to a login prompt, but after a few seconds the whole system locks up. Does anyone have any idea what coudl cause this?

Hello, I am experimenting with canbus board mcp2515. I managed to get it recognized and probably working with OPI one , with nightly 5.32 release, by following steps in this tread https://forum.armbian.com/index.php?/topic/3588-can-bus-support-orange-pi-zero/&page=2 But at the moment I was unable to get this done with 5.2 stable version. As I understood there is only possibility to use DTO only on nightly versions, correct? Or I could get this done also on 5.2 desktop version? Ether way, maybe there is a way to install desktop environment on 5.32 nightly? (I tried a lot of GUI - xfce4, lxde, ubuntu and so on, and noone w…

Hello, I'm using the last Kernel (4.13.3) and U-boot (2017-09). I noticed that the device does not reboot each time we ask for it. It sometime get stuck and I have to start it manually, this is really annoying for my needs. I figure it out that the Device Tree from 4.13.3 introduce some improvement on AXP209 and power management. I tried Device Tree file from 4.11.x and everything seems fine. Does any body noticed it ? Thanks

My newly received Orange PI Plus 2 gets stuck in a reboot loop, if I try to boot headless (no USB, no HDMI; UART is connected to see boot messages). Is such a problem known here? I have the same issue with some other linux images from other distributions, but hope to find some experience here. In detail: Power supply: Regulated Power Supply set to approx 5.2V (max 2A, built-in analog amperemeter shows max 1.4A during boot). No cables connected except power supply and UART I tried various SD-Cards (8GB or 64GB SDHC) --> The Orange PI Plus 2 boots till USB initialization and then reboots (sometimes it freezes). …

I'm testing the nightly image: Armbian_5.32.170704_Nanopineo2_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.8.img I've soldered 2x female A USB ports to the NanoPi Neo2 as per the pinout http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/index.php/NanoPi_NEO2#Diagram.2C_Layout_and_Dimension When I plugged in wifi dongles or USB flash drives, their light comes on, but I get nothing on lsusb and dmesg. Hi everyone, Sorry if this is a case of me missing something completely obvious but I'm a total beginner and am stuck. I got my first Orange Pi PC the other day and, after a few update issues was advised to put Armbian on it which I've done. My plan was to connect it to my bedroom TV to let me work on coursera courses with wireless mouse & Bluetooth keyboard out of the way of the kids. I've got a generic 802.11N USB wifi adapter which I plugged in to the Pi, but it doesn't show up in my network list. Also, when I plug in a Bluetooth adapter and open the settings it doesn't find any Bluetooth devices at all during search. There's usually an led inside the a…

TL;DR: The small H2+/H3 boards unlike their bigger siblings are all prone to overheating due to smaller PCB size (on the larger boards the PCB's groundplane acts somewhat as a large heatsink dissipating heat away from the SoC). Due to mainline kernel settings not being optimized currently all these boards are slower under constant load compared to legacy kernel. This should change but won't unless someone is looking into it and spends some time on this. Two areas that deal with this overheating tendency or are somewhat related are thermal protection / throttling: use the thermal sensor(s) inside the SoC to downclock various engines if specific tre…

No matter what I do, when I use an Armbian image built with compile.sh I get a blank orange screen on the OPi Plus 2. The downloadable pre-built image from Armbian for the board works fine. Wanting to debug this, I have an Adafruit UART serial cable adapter, known functioning and working. If I attach this to the UART pins on the small header near the power socket I get no output (and I have swapped RX and TX to no avail). How does one enable this UART? Am I using a wrong approach? I have console=both in armbianEnv.txt.

Hi all, I've been trying to install ft6x drivers on a nanopi neo air, which has armbian with legacy kernel, but it seems there is no support for ft6x capacitive touch panels. There is a code from Focaltech here, which is ft6x06 driver code. I added the code to kernel and compiled it, but the problem is: what should I do with fex file? Or is it right to do this? (I was not surprised that it didn't work). Can I change the current ft5x code to make ft6x works? There is also a support for ft6x family on mainline kernel. Is there any hope to adopt that code? Thanks.

I notice there is a 16mb spi flash on the bottom of my orange pi zero. I read it is possible to boot off it. Has anyone done it, and is it useful? Is it possible to run without the sd card? I am interested in locking the sdcard to read only for reliability during power loss, and storing application configuration data to the spi flash if possible. Can it be mounted with a filesystem, or is it better to use a ramdisk and store it periodically to flash?

After finally compiling the github 8188cu-fixed, blacklisting the old driver, I'm left with an interface name starting with lx and continuing with the mac address. I really need it to just say wlan1, so that I can use this sd-image for multiple orangepi-lite boards. Each usb wifi stick I plug in comes up with a different MAC address, hence the interface name changes accordingly. Example: One stick may have a MAC address 00-b6-56-0a-34-b2, and the interface ends up being called lx00b6560a34b2 I've had a look at the leading Ubuntu Xenial solutions, so far none of them work, mainly they use a grub based solution. Hope someone can help.

Hello, my opi+2 sometimes dies after long running times and becomes so hot that I cannot touch it. When I looked to logs, I saw kernel panic errors like, you know, tons of meanless numbers. I can provide any information you want. It's been few hours since I started it but here are logs. http://sprunge.us/jJSK Probably it had had 0.05 15 min load before it died. I couldn't see the message I saw before, probably they got removed from the system after few minutes. I'll send you newer logs after I get accurate errors again. This may take a week, or few days.

Hello. I remodel my Philips TV 32PFL4258T in a media center. The motherboard burned to the TV. There is no point in buying a new one. He had not worked very well before that. I installed universal scaler Z.VST.3463.A1. I bought myself Orange Pi One and installed Arbian 5.30. I think then, when viewing the memory, it eats much more and faster. Kodi also works. If you do not watch movies and programs nimble. As soon as you turn on the film everything is badly hangi…
