  3. Started by Giunti,

Hi Armbians, I'm running two identical Cubietrucks with Armbian Jessie systems in headless (very lean) mode without any X-Windows or the like. Both boot from 16GB SD-Cards. Now one of them, which had encountered a number of power failures, suddenly ran out of space on the SD-Card (100% usage of / ), while the other CT only shows 22%. I ran across this phenomenon, when the system failed to carry out an apt-get update at one point and important services Samba were no longer started. I then searched the root filesystem for culprits but there was nothing suspicious ... So I thought there might be a partial "destruction" of the fil…

  4. It took me some time to figure how to make it work, so I decided to save it for some poor soul who would need it in future. (I am a Windows guy so this stuff is a bit alien for me). I bought <$2 WiFi dongle for my new Orange PI PC from here: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/7899695282.html?orderId=76846564349160 I am running latest "ARMBIAN jessie 3.4.112-sun8i". The chip was detected by the OS but didn't work: lsusb gave me this: Bus 004 Device 002: ID 148f:7601 Ralink Technology, Corp. I tried several solutions: installing "firmware-ralink" package, compiling various sources and getting "loboris kernel" using code from this git: https://github.co…

  5. I've been away from armbian for a few months and came back to build a new project with my orange pi one but the nightly/recent mainlines builds seem to have stopped. I need a mainline kernel, and can grab one that's a few months old, but I wanted to be sure they haven't been moved. I'm not complaining! Just asking. With the number of boards available with armbian there has to be a lot of overhead doing nightly builds with few users, so it's not too surprising to see a change. I looked thru the sticky notes, but could not find a relevant post. Thanks!

  6. Hi. I'm using Cubietruck, and installed Ubuntu server(mainline) on it. Suddenly, I can't write to disk(SD card). Actually, yes I can. I could create, edit, or even delete files, but all the changes are gone after the Cubietruck is rebooted. The deleted files are back, and created files are gone. What should I check? My SD card is Samsung Evo 16GB, and I'm running Cubietruck for more than 2 years. I have never encountered this weird situation.

Hi all, first of all, I'm new to this forum even if I've been using Armbian on my Olimex Lime2 since lot of time and I find it a great project; thanks and keep up the good work! Now: I would like to use the Lime2 SPI #2 on pins "b" in master mode to communicate with a single slave device. What I did was: 1) downloaded Armbian v5.31 (latest available release at the time I write) 2) following the guide at https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Allwinner_overlays/ I modified /boot/armbianEnv.txt to contain: verbosity=1 logo=disabled console=both disp_mode=1920x1080p60 overlay_prefix=sun7i-a20 rootdev=UUID=8cf9ed72-8225-4db8-a3a2-a242d648d…

  10. The documentation on the Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 is somewhat scarce. I couldn't find information on the GPIO map for the 26-pin header anywhere, but I manually mapped it. I did this with an LED on each successive pin and testing through the /sys/class/gpio driver until I found the one to control it. This caused a bunch of resets and eventually corrupted my sd card, but I got the info Each of the numbers below is the GPIO number used for /sys/class/gpio. For example, 110 means gpio110. The list is by pin number from 1 to 26. A value of -1 means unavailable (as far as I could discover): -1, -1, 12, -1 (pin 1,2,3,4) 11,-1,6,0 (pin 5,6,7,8) -1…

On the 3.4 kernel, video out worked fine. Can someone please point me to a working set of instructions for accomplishing this?

  19. Is there currently a known problem with some of the Repos used by H3 Armbian Mainline (OrangePi Plus 2). For the last few days, when I run apt update, I get timeout messages on some repos. The repos that are consistently timing out are: http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial InRelease http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial-updates InRelease http://ports.ubuntu.com xenial-updates/main armhf Packages Additionally, this Repo sometimes times out, and sometimes succeeds, but takes a long time: https://deb.nodesource.com/node_6.x xenial InRelease Please let me know if you require more info. Many thanks, Roy Gilby

  20. I have an issue with armbian installed oPI PC+. I have it in a case with a cooling fan installed and connected to 2 GPIO pins. Any suggestions, I haven't tried starting without the cooling fan yet.

  21. I have two orange pi zero H2+ boards. Using kernel 3.4 they get very hot, and wlan0 also is not very stable. I upgraded to version 4.11 kernel using Armbian_5.32_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_dev_4.11.7.img. I was able to have a much cooler orangepi, and also wlan0 appears in iwconfig. Hi, I have bought Orange Pi Zero and installed Armbian Ubuntu version. Device (and OS!) works fantastic. However, I have a problem, because DNS resolving does not work until I manually edit /etc/resolv.conf file and enter: nameserver <ip_of_my_router> The problem is, I am using my Zero device in different networks, so I need to reconfigure it every time I connect it to other network. Is there any solution for this? In fact, it is quite weird, I have tried several things (when DNS resolving was not working), for instance: dig @8.8.8.8 www.slo-tech.com any and got only: ; <<>> DiG 9.10.3-P4-Ubuntu <<>> @8.8.8.8 www.sl…

Hello, I know one should't ask or complain here regarding the dev kernel branch, but maybe somebody of you stumbled upon this and knows where to point me: I successfully build and used the "dev" kernel several times for the BananaPi (Allwinner A20 Soc) and it works just fine. The patch regarding the axp209 sysfs interface can simply be taken over from the from the "next" kernel branch and you get a working temperture reading from the axp209 pmu. I'm using an Olimex LIME2 board with an A20 processor (actually it's a Olimex A20-SOM, but that shouldn't matter) and trying to use PWM. I have an older image (jessie with Kernel 3.4) where the PWM hardware can be accessed through /sys/class/pwm-sunxi/pwm*/{duty, duty_percent, period, pin, polarity, pulse, run}. Now I'm building a newer image (xenial with Vanilla kernel). It has /sys/class/pwm, but the directory is empty. Any ideas? The fex file is the same for both boards; the relevant section is: [pwm0_para] pwm_used = 1 pwm_period = 10000 pwm_duty_percent = 50 [pwm1_para] pwm_used = 1 pwm_period = 10000 pwm_duty_percent = 50

  46. Hi, Need to have a point to point ethernet network without any router or dhcp server in between two OPiPC running legacy and Ubuntu desktop. Currently, when I connect a ethernet cable between them, they get valid IPs (IPv4LL) after 5 minutes so that might be the dhcp timeout today (300sec?). Tried to see where this value is in order to get it lower, so to have faster their valid IPs and start working, but could not find it in Armbian, any hints on where to look for that timeout value?

Hello everyone. I'm experiencing some strange issue with my cubieboard and its connection to the internet. I boot it up and it works correctly, but after a day or two, I can't communicate with it using a ssh program, or vnc viewer. My other two servers that uses Linux Mint is working normally, so I think the problem is not my router. (I even swapped the Ethernet cables between my servers). If I connect a display on my cubieboard and try to ping my Windows computer, then I'm able to ssh my cubieboard using my computer. Sometimes I'm unable to connect to my cubieboard via ssh using my windows and my Android phone, but if I try using my Linux machine, I can connect with…

  92. Hello, my opi+2 sometimes dies after long running times and becomes so hot that I cannot touch it. When I looked to logs, I saw kernel panic errors like, you know, tons of meanless numbers. I can provide any information you want. It's been few hours since I started it but here are logs. http://sprunge.us/jJSK Probably it had had 0.05 15 min load before it died. I couldn't see the message I saw before, probably they got removed from the system after few minutes. I'll send you newer logs after I get accurate errors again. This may take a week, or few days.

  95. Last year I started a solar-sensing project with the Orange-Pi-Zero (256k), Armbian5.25, legacy kernel and made it work after a while. The Wifi funktion was rather poor and deteriorating, so I ordered a new OpiZero-Plus2-H3, same physical shape and connectors (I thought). Now the -P2 Armbian image 5.30 for the new board loaded perfectly, the Wifi function is really improved due to better hardware. The python part of the code works (still) perfectly. Only (most of) the gpio-functions of my project do not work any more with the new board attached. I use PA07, PA13 and PA14 for bit-bang gpio and a 1-wire sensor via the kernel. I modified the OPi-P2 fex file, shipped wit…

  98. Started by reamond,

Hi, I am trying to make the OPI Zero boot with the help of the onboard SPI with the goal to boot from an usb drive and not from the sdcard. What steps should be executed. I only managed to get the Xenial image to work with my 512Mb board... so that is what I want to use. I assume... I need to make u-boot work with the sdcard... move the whole thing to the usb drive (with the u-boot) and than populate somehow the SPI with the image of an SPL, which would get it up through the u-boot on the usb. So I would need some in depth guidance (best would be some example commands to be used), what steps and tools should be executed to make it work. Thanks in advance &amp…

Hello dear members, I have built complete mainkernel on orange pi zero. I compiled u-boot, busybox, mainline kernel, and obtained dtb file. So, my pure system is running now. But, I do not how should I continue? For example, how can use wi-fi, how can use gpio drivers and how can import some libs like wiring pi to my pure system. What is next for development? Best Regards.
