Hello, actually i have "Bananian" with the kernel "3.4.113-bananian", and I would like to switch to the Armbian mainline kernel! My problem / question is how does it work with the GPIO in the mainline kernel? I use these commands under the legacy kernel... (I use the modified WiringPI from LeMaker) echo "17" > /sys/class/gpio/export echo "out" > /sys/class/gpio/gpio17/direction echo "1" > /sys/class/gpio17/value But these unfortunately no longer work under the mainline kernel! I don't understand how i calculate now the right GPIO Pin. (http://linux-sunxi.org/GPIO#Accessing_the_GPIO_pins_through_sysfs_with_mainline_k…

Hi. I'd want to set a custom MAC address to my cb2. I set the static mac address in u-boot environment variable ethaddr. If i print the environment (with "printenv command" i find it right there but when the system starts and i go through ifconfig i can see eth0 has a different MAC. Any suggestion on how to get MAC from u-boot? I'm on Armbian 5.20 legacy kernel. Thank you

Hi, I am totally new to Linux, but already managed to run OMV on my Banana Pi M1+ with Plex and other services I wanted on Armbian. Now I tried to run Kodi, so it could serve me both as NAS and HTPC. Firstly, I have installed xorg, then lightdm and set it up for autologin, which is working correctly. Then, I have installed Kodi 16 from git, but only gray box appears and then vanishes and screen stays black. My first impression was it is lacking GL drivers, so I have followed this tutorial: https://forum.armbian.com/index. ... pi-orangepi-pc-etc/, tested and everything seemed to be ok. I installed Emilia Pinball to check additionally - it renders correctly. Still, when …

Hi, I was wondering if anyone was having issues with the ethernet port using the legacy kernel ? It does seem to kind of work ... it will get DHCP from the router and configure the routing tables etc but after that it goes wonky. When I do a ping test from the router I get "50/50 transmitted, 15/50 received, 70% loss". A ping test from the opi-win to the router gets a similar result. If I try a ping/ssh from a PC connected to the router I get a 95% packet loss Everything else seems to work fine ... HDMI, USB, WiFi (AP/STA modes) which is really, really nice. Thanks TB

Hello! I'm using Armbian Stretch for 1080P Pinebook A64. I've installed Armbian Stretch about 2 months ago, when it was still "Unsupported" and in-development. Now, however, it's supported. Currently, I'm on Armbian Stretch 5.60 and dev branch. I would like to update to 5.69 and next branch. However, from armbian-config, I'm only able to go from stable to nightly build (5.68, but still dev branch). Moreover, I can't select next kernel from Other menu. Is there a way to switch branches (barring re-flashing from latest image)?

Good day! I've had the Nanopi Neo2 v1.0 for sometime now, used for mostly for NAS solution. the v1.0 is the one being carried by my supplier here. Hi there, 2 days ago I did apt update + apt upgrade on my OPi3, everything fine. Yesterday I did a system reboot (as suggested "kernel changed"), then Eth port went dead. No even ARP works (ARPING). Have tried: - ifconfig shows correct values, - ethtool shows 1Gbps FDX connection, also same on router (OpenWRT TL-WR1043ND w 18.06 software), - changed eth cable, - on other OPi connected to same switch / router (also went dead) depowering device helped, but not on OPi3, - ARP shows MAC/IP not resolved, - WiFi (configured as AP) looks working. - also changed port on router and did power cycle device, nothing helps. - on r…

Hi! I have ARMBIAN 5.31 on my Banana Pi m1 and need some help. Early I used wheezy and mount webdav disk with davfs2 in fstab, but after I installed jessie fstab dont mount any davfs2 disk. Besides I have another problem: I use davfs2 to backup some video and photos to cloud storage throw webdav, and I have mistakes on large files (files much bigger then free space in /var/cache). Davfs2 send files in cache folder first (/var/cache/davfs2 by default) and then to webdav disk, so I have to use another disk with enough free space (sda1 in my case). When I was on wheezy I just point cache dir to sda in dafs2.config (cache_dir option) and all be OK, but i…

Hi every body, Tanks igor for your great job with your linux versions for cubietruck. I installed jessie with kernel 3.4. I'm trying to make a media server with minidlna. Cubietruck is connected to the router with ethernet when i'm at home and minidlna stream fine. I sucessfully installed hostapd with your interfaces.hostapd file. Ethernet plugged, i can connect to wlan0 and access to minidlna. My problem is when ethernet is unplugged and i reboot the cubietruck. I cannot access to minidlna via wlan0. I set network_interface=br0 in minidlna configuration. Do i need to manually configure dhcp or something like that?

Old post below, here is what I found out thanks to some help from linux-sunxi IRC, I think this is a bug in the ondemand governor When using ASIX AX88772B USB to ethernet adapter and the cpu-governor is on ondemand, transfer speed is very slow. If governor is set to conservative or performance (yes that's right) speed is ok, 50 Mbit at least. So the problem has nothing to do with cpu speed as such (it's working @ steady 480Mhz and @ steady 1200Mhz) for now I'll stick with conservative as I don't want my board to burn up, but It would be nice if someone could take a look at that ondemand governor. I want to use an ESP-12F to add wireless to my NanoPi Neo, but I don't think the Neo has broken out all the connections I'd need. Hackaday desctibes how to interface a Raspberry Pi B+ to an ESP-12F (https://hackaday.io/project/8678/instructions), but the Neo seems to lack some of the required pins. I like this idea since I've liked the performance and ability of every esp8266 system I've used. Their wifi network is solid, and they're low cost. Is this a lost cause or is it possible? Or perhaps this is a dumb idea? I'm not sure how well it'll perform vs a usb wifi modules, but the idea has captured my imagination.

Like most people that have consumer ipv6 service, I have NATted ipv4 + global ipv6. I'm trying to get my v4 to be a static address and my v6 to be slaac with privext 2. I have tried the image for Buster from the Download page for OrangePi PC Plus, and also built new images from current Git repo. In all cases the device bootloops when it tries to start the kernel. The image from the OrangePi website works ok. This looks like a similar issue as experienced recently with CubieTruck and BananaPi A20 boards (https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-749) which was fixed with a workaround (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/2963) Is it possibly the same / similar underlying problem?

Hi, I bought about a year ago an orange pi plus. Just a few weeks ago, i tryed the new distro's I love to have debian on the board. And like your distro verry much. I have 2 problems: 1) If i download the file for orangepiplus, the board does nothing. No leds go on, no grafics on screen, nothing I also tryed at home compiling it myself. The result is the same nothing. My Orange Pi Plus has an H3 processor - it is one of the first OrangePi Plus boards. (Is this an error in your piplus distro - just because loborus for piplus works) 2) If i download the orangepih3 file, the board will startup. I can not run sata-nand, because i get an error - abo…

Hello! I've downloaded the current images for BananaPi M1 offered in the site, as "Community Maintained" builds, but none of them is capable of producing video output from HDMI nor composite video. Both the Ubuntu jammy and Debian12 versions lose the video output as soon as the kernel starts to load, after the u-boot screen. I tried the desktop and server images, without any luck. With the older 5.x kernel, the ubuntu-jammy image that I've downloaded before loads fine. I know it's an old board, but it still gives me some amusement time tinkering with it and playing retro games. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Thanks!

Hello, I have the LIME2 board from Olimex (A20 SoC). I tried writing the image Armbian_5.20_Lime2_Debian_jessie_4.7.3_desktop to an SD card with dd. However, nothing happens when I plug in power (except that a red light near the barrel jack connector turns on). I tried pressing some of the switches (reset, power) but they didn't do anything either. This is the second LIME2 board I have received that just won't turn on. I have also tried with the images recommended by Olimex, to no avail. Is there something special that needs to be done that I'm missing?

I've been struggling for a while to get raspberry pi HAT type LCD to working. I've been working with loboris images before until recently that I've heard that armbian has cooked a new image for orangepi with newer kernel. In the description of images it is clearly indicated that the image works with small screen lcds which it seems to be true because there is no error when I want to load a notro module and it successfully loads. I've put lcd configurations in /etc/modules but I was not successful. this is the parameters I use in /etc/modules fbtft_device name=flexfb gpios=dc:22,reset:27 speed=48000000 flexfb width=320 height=240 buswidth=8 init=-1,0xCB,0x39,0x2C,0x00…

Hello. I am new to Armbian. My Banana PI M2 (already a disappointment, bad purchase on my part) is up and running but will not reboot all the way. It shuts down but does not restart again. Any ideas how to go about troubleshooting and fixing this? It is a deal breaker for what I planned to be a headless system. It needs to be restartable without physically pulling the plug to do so.

Hi you all, I have flashed a good, tested and reliable 32GB SD card with the last build for Orange PI Win (armbian 5.38) and when first updating, it stucks in "waiting for headers" for too long. I have read that this is caused in Linux systems because one installs third party software whose repos take long to answer, but since here it is a first and fresh update, with nothing but armbian inside, I ask myself if it is normal or there is a problem with the servers at this moment. Only apt-get update ca take up to 1h 30 min, so it is really an annoying issue. Is anyone out there experiencing the same problem (and hopefully with a solution) ?? Thank you guys!…

Hello I'm investigating update from wheezy to trusty on my OrangePI (A20) based home media server. I'm using custom kernel 3.4.110 with SATA multiplier support. System is on HDD. I had few remarks and issues (part of them were solved but some are not): - Video acceleration was not working out of the box on trusty desktop image but it was solved it by installing "Desktop-extras for Jessie-desktop (sunxi)" - it looks it could be added as default for trusty. But mvp package can't be installed due to depedencies to libs which I did not found in ubuntu reps?! - compositing if OFF in xfce but when I moving windows on the desktop, CPU load is becoming 100% till I stop movi…

Hello fellow Armbianers! I'm using Orange Pi zero. My only complaint is the 30s boot time. Looking at the log files, seems like it only takes 5 seconds to boot once the kernel is loaded. The majority of this 30s is spent in uboot somewhere? Does anyone know how to speed up this boot process? I'm always just booting from SD card, don't need USB boot/network boot, console, or any of that. Thanks!

Dear all, I copied Armbian 4.5 (on cubietruck with kernel 4.3.3) from SD to SSD using the script "nand-sata-install.sh". The resulting system with /boot from SD and rootfs on SSD works fine. However, the "Welcome to Armbian" message generated upon login contains the error message "df: cannot access ‘/dev/sda1’: over-mounted by another device" (see below). It seems to be related to mounting /boot from SD. Hello, Im using a Orange Pi Zero, running nginx with Nextcloud. Im noticing 99.99% usage on the IO reported by iotop, but disk read and disk write show 0%. Even a refresh on the homepage bumps it up to the top of the IO list. As far as I am informed... isn't kswapd0 supposed to deal with swap memory and go wild when I am about to run out of RAM? I have disabled (hopefully), my swap partition, but I am still getting this. I have commented out the swap line in fstab... htop reports 0KB SWAP. It doesn't seem that I am running out of memory. About 50% of it appears to be free all the time. I am really new to dev boards and such, but this didn't appea…

Hello, I am very sorry that I have to leave the Armbian flock, but the Dietpi-Distro is so much better. It simply boots off the SD-Card on my NanoPi NeoCore and the darned Ethernet simply works; also the DTB overlay files work, so the additional I2C and UART hardware works in Dietpi. And the kernel is 6.x too ! However, the NanoPi Neocore is shipped with an outdated Armbian (using Kernel 4.x) on EMMC. What I now want is to replace the prepared EMMC Armbian distro with whatever is on my SD-Card, but this task is more difficult than I tought. What I would need is to simply copy the whole SD-Card to EMMC, but the recommended "dd if='sdcard...' of='emmc...'...." co…

Hi Armbians, I'm running two identical Cubietrucks with Armbian Jessie systems in headless (very lean) mode without any X-Windows or the like. Both boot from 16GB SD-Cards. Now one of them, which had encountered a number of power failures, suddenly ran out of space on the SD-Card (100% usage of / ), while the other CT only shows 22%. I ran across this phenomenon, when the system failed to carry out an apt-get update at one point and important services Samba were no longer started. I then searched the root filesystem for culprits but there was nothing suspicious ... So I thought there might be a partial "destruction" of the fil…

Since there isn't an Orange Pi Three forum I am going to post it here. Due to python requirements for PiKVM I installed the latest Jammy build. When i did the install everything looked like it worked but I could not get the remote keyboard and mouse to work with the OTG port. I tried changing the dtb but it didn't work. I was sort of disappointed with my RPi 2 VPN performance, which is about 2.5MiB/s while normal traffic can easily exceeds 5.5MiB/s. So I setup same VPN config on OPi One and run the test. The speed is impressive which is well above 5 MiB/s but it could only last about 10s before the box reboots itself. I can see one cpu core is occupied 100% by softirqd ( about 80% on RPi 2). My kernel version is 3.4.112 and StrongSwan version is 5.3.3. Don't have further information yet. When I get a chance to hook up serial console, I may collect more info.

Attention, whatever you do next is at your own risk! Fixed dts overlay file for Armbian 23.02.2 (attached). 1. Now the system can fall asleep and wake up by a timer (without an external RTC, provided that it is powered) or by pressing a button - while wifi connects itself (if there is an automatic connection) and the system continues to work as if nothing had happened without unnecessary loading. 2. As a bonus, I added an indication of reading from a flash card as a red LED (this can be turned off). 3. I also activated the host on the micro-usb connector - now you can connect something else via the otg adapter as a third USB connector. To apply t…

Hi everyone, I'm using the Orange Pi Zero 3 and would really appreciate a lightweight desktop image with just the XFCE desktop, a web browser, and basic tools (like file manager, terminal, etc.) with video acceleration. The current Armbian desktop image works, but it includes a lot of software I don’t need. I’m looking for something more minimal — just enough for light use and a faster experience. Does anyone have (or know how to build) a stripped-down XFCE image for this board? Thanks in advance!

Hi All, Armbian boots fine from SDcard but when I run nand-sata-install the script complains that it has no target. A #ls /dev/mmcblk* shows /dev/mmcblk0 and /dev/mmcblk0P1 When mounted, just to see, the mmcblk0P1 partition contains the usual linux directories, so I suppose this partition is definitely the SDcard No EMMC device is present. Could this be due to me performing, yesterday a: dd if=/mnt/ArchLinux_Minimal.img of=/dev/mmcblk1 bs=4M ? I did this because I read somewhere that booting up from SDCARD followed by a dd worked in some cases. Note I originally wanted to run Arch, but since there is apparently no support at orangepi.org, after…

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Michale Jasson

I'm running "Armbian_5.34.171121_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14.img" on an OrangePi Zero 2+ H5. Lots of testing was done with the OS installed on and running from the SDCard. At long last the board runs happily at temperatures typically up to about 40 degrees C at light to medium CPU loads, and at around 65 degrees C when the CPU is pushed to 100% utilisation. With this cooling solution, the board has been reliably running PiHole for about two months now. The 50mm fan and the big heat sink are not a very …

I run Armbian 20.02.1 stable on a zeropi which is used as a wireguard server and spotify direct client (USB to external DAC). Things run very well. Many thanks to everyone involved in keeping Armbian such a great distro! I noticed that when I turn on the ondemand governor the system becomes very unresponsive and music playback is stuttering. When I use the performance governor (even with min and max frequency both set to 480MHz) things run just fine. Most of the time 480MHz will be sufficient, but it would be nice to be able to take advantage of the ondemand governor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Unfortunatly, my sata HDD never work. I'm using a seagate 1TB SSHD. I currently using the armbian ubuntu image. At boot, the hdd spin up and stop, and ubuntu don't boot. If I remove the HDD everthing work fine. Anybody have a working hdd using the micro usb power port ? I use an ipad charger and a good one meter usb cable. Any help is greatly appreciated. If I should provide more details, please let me know Thanks agemio

Board OPi Zero 512, NEXT kernel 4.13.7, last Sunday compiled. I'm trying do start more than one Dallas 1 wire interface. My primary idea was to add second w1-gpio overlay but no success. The next one is to edit device tree for w1-gpio to add another pin, and then to edit fixup script.
