  1. I just updated two Orange Pi One boards and rebooted them to get to the new kernel only to have them boot loop. I know, development, not supported. I'm not asking for a solution, I'm just alerting people to the situation so they can avoid messing up their boxes. Console log attached if you're curious. orangepione.txt

I'm trying to use armbian on orange pi one, and it does not start. Previously I used the armbian, however I needed to format the card, now I am putting the same version of armbian 5.25 server and desktop does not work, I tried version 5.35 and tbm does not start, the non-image card does not light any led. However, when using both debian xfce and ubuntu xfce for orange pi one of orangepi.org, the board called displayed video and is working.

  5. I have tested the orange pi one xenial. When I say test it is not benchmark tests. I do not know what the numbers say anyway. I open several common programs and watch what htop says. If I run an mp4 file on a media player, libre office and file manager it runs well and htop says about 300mb. It is a 10usd computer and I do not expect it to equal a x86 desktop. If I open firefox, firefox crashes before starting. Because of not enough ram? If I open chromium or midori ram usage goes to 100%. Cpu does not. You cannot really browse sites very well. Youtube videos is the same. Is it becuase 512mb ram is not enough? On my gnulinux x86 n…

  6. This may be one of those questions that should be considered dumb, but I'll risk your flames and ask regardless. Is the Orange Pi ONE GPIO Pin layout the same as the Raspberry Pi? I haven't found much specific to GPIO on the Orange Pi One, but I did see someone who said they were flipped 180 from the RPI. Before I attach a project and risk frying project and./or board, could you point me to a reference that specifies the layout of the GPIO pins on the Orange Pi ONE? And, like I said, I'm really sorry if this is the dumbest thing you've had to read all day. I have searched, but could not find much specific to the ONE.

  7. Hello ! I'm a proud owner of a Opi One which is supposed to be my media server and torrent server. I downloaded and installed Armbian, set it up, everything works great, but the only problem is video playing. I tried to run multiple videos and multiple formats (.mkv, .mp4) but the player remains black. If I go on youtube, the video plays but it's very laggy (like 10fps). What should I do ? Thank you ! Guess here is my answer, too: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1129-h265/

Hello, I am trying to get my Orange Pi One working with my ili9488 LCD screen. I followed a few "how-to's" , This one in particular There is a comment there that mentions how to do it on the Orange Pi. Also this post here. I must be missing something, because when I did all the actions listed in every "How To" I found; all I get is a black screen with a white bar down the side. Does anyone know of a comprehensive how-to on getting this screen to work?

I had some issues with the bCNC program and decided to uninstall the OS and restart from new. 17. I've been away from armbian for a few months and came back to build a new project with my orange pi one but the nightly/recent mainlines builds seem to have stopped. I need a mainline kernel, and can grab one that's a few months old, but I wanted to be sure they haven't been moved. I'm not complaining! Just asking. With the number of boards available with armbian there has to be a lot of overhead doing nightly builds with few users, so it's not too surprising to see a change. I looked thru the sticky notes, but could not find a relevant post. Thanks!

Also, g_ether, g_mass_storage, g_multi, g_ptinter and g_serial modules are available. So, what should I do and maybe anyone can provide me an example how to send a keystroke to my pc? Thanks.

  24. I have several OpiOne Plus boards. They differ by the date of manufacture (let's say 1st batch and 2nd batch) 1st batch: Works with kernel 5.10.x but does not boot kernel 5.15.x. Red light is on, power meter shows very little consumption, ethernet does not go up. Switching to last available 5.10.x kernel resolves the situation. 2nd batch: Successfully work with both 5.10.x and work with 5.15.x. Green light is on, power meter shows adequate consumption, board works. I'm pretty sure, that no more "new" opi one plus will appear at Xunlong shop and this issue won't be fixed in visible future. 25. Greetings! It's not a influential or serious bug. I couldn't control the LEDs on Orange Pi One Plus by the command setleds, So I navigated to /sys/class/leds, and there are two items: orangepi:green:status@ and orangepi:red:power@. I tried to do echo 255 > brightness respectively and found that: orangepi:green:status@ controls the RED LED, while orangepi:red:power@ controls the GREEN LED. Please tell me if it's a minor bug or an intentional setting, thank you.

My Orange Pi One Plus H6 installed different Armbian image 5.3.9 the system works well, but there is no sound via HDMI, in the pulseaudio tab of the configuration menu it says "there are no cards available for configuration". 31. Started by aliles,

I'm trying to get the Orange Pi One Plus' OTG port to function in "otg" or "peripheral" mode. I've modified the device tree configuration to change the "dr_mode" from "host" to "peripheral". This works as long as the Orange Pi One Plus and the device are separated by a hub. If directly connected via an OTG cable/adapter the device instead charges from the Orange Pi One Plus. I assume this would be due to the OTG port acting as a power source rather than a power sink. However, after experimenting I've been unable to find a device tree configuration change the role of the vbus. Does anybody have any advice?

Hi , my op one board is installed latest armbian but i couldnt see serail ports The default serial port /dev/ttyS0, used for (bootstrap) debugging and the serial console, is located at J11 - refer to the picture and instructions below. The Raspberry's "original" serial port on GPIO 14 and 15 (CON3, pins 8 and 10) can usually be accessed as /dev/ttyS2 on the Orange Pi Plus. J12 also provides another serial port on pins 4 (RX) and 6 (TX), which should map to /dev/ttyS3. only i see /dev/ttyS0 and /dev/ttyGS0--GS4 how can i fix this issue ?

I am using my Orange Pi Ones for SETI@Home, I also use Raspberry Pis for the same purpose. I've noticed since, around, Armbian 5.20 that SETI@Home(BOINC) won't stay running for any more than 6-12 hours. It's being sniped by Out of Memory. I've tried a few things, posted on the subreddit, but here is the short list: Logged Memory ---> Can dip below 100MB during usage but not often Enabled Swap/Increase Swappiness---> 0 to 10 (I don't care about SD Card life) Adjusted BOINC/SETI to use 75% memory None of the above seems to have helped. The LEDs on the ethernet port blink briefly during boot, but once booted they are off, and the board does not have an IP address. Via serial console I undid the change I made prior to the fateful reboot (adding 'overlays=uart1' to '/boot/armbianEnv.txt') and rebooted again, but to no avail. Having searched for the issue, I also confirmed that my power supply is sufficient; running 'stress -c 2 -m 2', and measuring across pins 2 (5V) and 6 (GND) of the 40-pin header, I get 5.05V. As I don't have a network connection, I did not run 'sudo armbianmonitor -u', but I gathered the following …

I thought I had this mastered but I cannot get the OPI to boot. I downloaded the current legacy image trusty, use 7zip to unzip it and then use a image writer to write the image to the SD formatted sd card. Am I missing something here? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk

  52. I've tried both revisions (Bionic and Stretch) for this board located at: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ Both have the same issue. When I boot from sd card, run armbian-config, and attempt to transfer armbian OS to emmc I get an error 'no target'. I know that there is indeed built 8GB flash, because when I pull the sdcard, and power the board it boots into the pre-configured android OS. Here is a picture I took of the board: https://photos.app.goo.gl/5ELPTTnPbZXAybhe9 Any advise would be helpful. Thank You.

  54. For days now I have been fighting to get this thing working. No boot, No hdmi, no sound, no wireless network and so on. Armbian is anyway the best choice for this device, Supported? well yes if you have lan, true HDMI Well i got it to boot, after writing a new image to sd card. finally booted, no signal detected ( with a DVI > HDMI ), I had to hook it up to a true HDMI and modify the script.bin file to get a signal. Got it to boot all the way to the desktop. Hurray ! Plugged in a crappy wifi adapter from Ali express (realtek 8081 i think it is) and I got wifi, jippi. Next time booting no wifi, no matter what I tried. Made a new image again, with modi…

  55. Hello, I managed to run OPi as a media player using OpenELEC (works charmingly fast - much much better than on RasPi), bun on Armbian (legacy kernel - 3.4.113) something went not too good Firsty, I burn desktop Xenial image onto SD card, dropped into Orange, and everything worked fine besides sound via HDMI - even locally played MP3 files were stuttering, not mentioning Youtube in Chromium - CPU usage was in range of 30-40 percent. Sound in TV speakers were annoying- one second of music, long pause, repeated until I press stop button. So I gave up with Xenial, write a Jessie server image (also legacy kernel), installed XFCE with all recommende…

  58. Edit: Nothing was wrong with the Orange PI. I turned out to be my switch. Hi All, Firstly, Armbian is just fantastic. Secondly, this issue is highly likely to have nothing to do with Armbian, but just the cheap crap you'd expect from a cheap SBC. Essentially, after much pain and anguish having bizarre Ethernet connectivity issues with a shiny new Orange PI PC I bought a couple of days, which was: 1. When OPI was connected my network switch (which has four other devices connected to it: two Ethernet and two WiFi), none of the other devices can reliably 'ping' or SSH to the OPI... 25% to 100% packet loss. 2. When connecting the OPI physically directly to ex…

  59. I just tried my Orange Pi PC with a Samsung TV connected via the HDMI port. I'm able to log in to the desktop OK, but when screen updates happen (e.g. when I scroll around in the web browser) the display goes black momentarily, then comes back after a fraction of a second. This seems to be worse for some applications (e.g. the web browser) than others (e.g. terminal), and so far I haven't seen it while not running X. Also, playing videos (with mpv) does not cause it. I'm running this image with no customisations: http://image.armbian.com/Armbian_5.20_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.7z Any ideas how to fix this?

  60. Hi, Good people of Armbian-land! First of all, thank you all for the awesome work you've been putting into Armbian. I recently purchased an Orange Pi PC, for which I'd like to use the Ubuntu desktop image, since I need the HW acceleration features. I tried using Mainline briefly but after confirming that the performance is just not there without the Mali drivers (as suggested by the description, so no surprise there), it seems Legacy is my only viable option. Which would be fine, but the monitor I'd like to use with my setup doesn't work with legacy (it works fine in Mainline). Also a sidenote: I connected the monitor using an HDMI-VGA converter. I set th…

  61. I've experienced some issue on my OPI PC running 4.14 kernel - it disconnects eth after some hours of running. It's very annoying for me because I'm running Home Assistant automations on it and it's located in remote location (not in my home), so I have to drive 50 km to reset/reconnect it manually First I thought OPI just froze somehow (kernel panic or so). But later I've set up heartbeat trigger on red led and it's blinking, so OPI just disconnects from eth. When I unplugged cable for a minute and plugged it in back, networking was restored and I could reach via ssh. I'd like to make some workaround for now and the simplest thing seems to be write a script and pu…

Though connection was unstable (ralink) or sometimes even freezing the system (rtl812cu), I could at least see the surrounding ssids and most of the times connect. I'm a longtime user of a usb 2.0 soundcard along with a laptop with KXStudio and Guitarix. I've used this setup many times for gigging and home recording and it proved to be stable. One of the downsides is the "voluminous" laptop. I've my soundcard mounted in a small 19" flightcase with one rack still open. For some years I've been thinking of making rack mountable effectprocessor from a board to substitute the laptop. So, to start this journey I've ordered a OPi PC (along with a good quality micro SD card!), of course not a heavyweight board, but my first…

The drive I want to put it on is a 1t ssb, which otherwise formats fine, over and over again, burns images on it fine (though rpi doesn't like how much power it grabs). But I duplicated the problem with a formatted SD card in a reader in the USB port as well. The same error message appeared.
