Hello, I have owned the Orange Pi PC for quite a while now, but I have been unable to solve a problem. The problem is that I can never quite manage to get the GPU drivers to work perfectly. They will often crash when using certain software like Chromium. Here is what I have tried doing so far: - Build and install the helper modules (libdri2,libump) - Installing the sunxi-mali driver - Building the video driver (xf86-video-fbturbo) - Build glshim -- Doing the following does not seem to have an effect on glxgears -- - Update arm-linux-gnueabihf configuration <-- Doing this breaks certain applications and gam…

I'm trying to get a HDMI LCD touchscreen working. The pinout is compatible with Orange PI PC except the SPI CS pin is on pin 26 (WPI 11) instead of pin 24 (WPI 10). Is there an easy way to move the SPI CS pin to another GPIO pin? Also, I'm not sure how to properly configure the pen down interrupt pin for pin 22 (WPI 6) So far, I've got the following working: Image: Orangepipc_2.0.8_debian_buster_desktop_linux5.4.65.7z Touchscreen: 3.5 Inch HD HDMI USB LCD Touch Screen 3.5" Display Module 480×320 1920x1080 for Raspberry Pi 3rd 4th Generation 4B/3B+/3B/2B orangepiEnv.txt: overlays=spi-add-cs1 spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 para…

Hi all, I upgraded my jessie 5.05 desktop version for Orange Pi PC via "apt-get upgrade" to 5.10 without any issues. Now I noticed that the green status LED blinks twice every ~0.5s after first reboot. Can anyone figure out the meaning of this?? Thanks in advance.

I am using Orange PI PC for running a Deluge (torrents) and FTP server. I have noticed that when Deluge is downloading something, the RAM is getting filled up. At some point the kswapd0 kicks in and start using 100% of one CPU core. This is going on until I manually release the memory, eather with reboot or with "echo 1 > /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches". Here you can see kswapd0 with "top": However, the kswapd0 is not visible on htop, but it shows one core at 100%. The memory usage is 111 MB. But "free -m" command shows that 865 MB of memory is used.

Hi, I installed Armbian image 20.8.1-focal-5.8.5 to Orange Pi PC. I am experiencing issues with playing sounds (tested with playing .wav files). Upon starting playback first 1-2 seconds are omitted and then sound plays as it should. I didn't notice this issue on Xenial (3.4.113). Issue is identical to the ones reported in following threads: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12059-orange-pi-lite-missing-first-second-of-the-audio-output/ https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12059-orange-pi-lite-missing-first-second-of-the-audio-output/ Has anyone managed to solve it? Thanks

Hi Yesterday I've upgraded armbian kernel from 20.11.3 to 20.11.6 version in the available updates with apt update. Once PiPC restarted no wifi connection was found. The wifi dongle is a TP-LINK TL-WN725N and is found with lsusb: Bus 004 Device 002: ID 0bda:8179 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL8188EUS 802.11n Wireless Network Adapter It was working with previous kernels but with 20.11.6 kernel is not listed in ifconfig so I've rolled back to 20.11.3 kernel Any hints or solucions ?? Thanks

The old 0.14.0 version doesn't work well with subtitles, ending up with subtitles drawing on top of each others, when the text is moving fast. Is there any build I could download and install? Or some other workaround? Edit: Kodi draws the subtitles correctly, but it has pretty awful screen tearing. Using black bloxes instead of just some outline on the subtitles does work, but it's not an acceptable fix to me. So, it would be great it was possible to use whatever kodi uses to draw the subtitles, but then use mpv to draw the video.

Hello folks, I'm having trouble booting to Armbian. The green LED turns on, and the LAN lights work, but outputting to HDMI always ends in no signal. I have tried: - Using official Orange Pi operating systems, they work, but are unstable. - Using f3 to check if my SD card is corrupted/fake. Returns working. - Using different power bricks, will still turn on leds, but not output to HDMI - Using different Armbian kernels, no success Any ideas lads?

Hello! Sorry, I can't speak english well! A year ago, I buy my Orange Pi PC, and download last image of Armbian, and it work's well. But yesterday, I update my system through apt-get, and notice that there be some kernel packages. There was packages, with "sunxi" or "sunx7" in his names, don't remember well. After this, my Pi stop to working. No SSH, no image from HDMI too. I download new images from https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ try both Bionic and Stretch. But both of them don't work. There was an old image, Xenial with kernel 3.4. It works well, but my wifi adapter doesn't work with this kernel. But this adapter, worked with …

Hi all, I was just wondering if you had experience with the performance on the H3 allwinner CPU performance based on the cpu temperature ? I'm trying to tweak my fan to only cool down the CPU once it gets close to peak cpu temperature levels, before performance starts to degrade. According to the Allwinner H3 datasheet the maximum ambient operating temperature is 70° (see page 612) http://dl.linux-sunxi.org/H3/Allwinner_H3_Datasheet_V1.0.pdf Do you think I can let the cpu go up to 70 before cooling it down or should I start sooner (i.e 65° / 67°) to keep my pi at top performance ?

Hi guys, I've just downloaded Jessie image with legacy kernel for my Orange PI PC device (Armbian_5.04_Orangepih3_Debian_jessie_3.4.110). At first boot it has stated something about forced password renewal policy and has rebooted the device. After the reboot during login process it has asked me for a new password and then has showed "authentication token manipulation error" message. Now I cannot login because password renewal process ends with the error. By the way yesterday I built my custom armbian image for the same configuration and today I have the same issue with it too. Could you please help me?

But how to start the desktop ? I can only see the black screen with prompt command. If I reboot it , after all [ok] ...... I read Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS orangepipcplus tty1 login ...... Did I do some mistakes?

Hi all, I recently purchased an orange pi after developing on the raspberry pi (just for convenience). I got it mainly because the integrated memory could be a real asset both because SD are faulty when making lots of memory accesses and emmc can provide a nice layer of code protection when giving the board to somebody else. I set-up everything without issue and I used the nand-sata-install to move everything to emmc...it worked like a charm. I then placed all my proprietary code on emmc and executed without issues. Problem is, I can obviously still insert an SD card and then mount the emmc and access my code since the SD is booted before the emmc.…

I am trying to control a relay board on OPI PC plus - armbian. I have used "orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3" module in python before to control leds, buttons and an 16x2 LCD. This is the relay. To control the Relay module i connected VCC to 5V, GND to ground and IN to PIN 35 (Which is PA10 on my board). and used the code below to open or close the relay just to test but no luck. The code does not return any errors, it runs and finishes but no activity on relay. Both leds (Red and Green) on relay are on when connected. Any help would be appriciated.

Hi, I have a orange pi pc plus, and i want to use a PN532 NFC module with Uart. At first, i need to enable uart and i have found this docs : https://docs.armbian.com/Hardware_Allwinner/ , but i think i miss something. My kernel version is 4.9.0, so i follow Vanilla kernel (Device Tree) explanations. What i understand is i need to modify "sun8i-h3-orangepi-pc-plus.dtb" in /boot/dtb. I try to do it, but i surely do something wrong, because my pi didn't boot anymore, so i flash the sd card. Before remaking any modification i prefer to be certain, do i really need to modify this files? And in particular this lines? /*Part of the files (Uart0 and Uart1)…

Hello, I am new to orange PIs and got a "OPi PC plus" a few weeks ago. After some research I found out, that armbian ist the best OS for me In the past I tried with effort to set up a 3G / Lan / WIFI Router with USB / Samba share to have mobile network and files. It works like a charm, outer that I can not get more than 72.2 mbps to my wifi clients. Today I had many time to search and first result is, that the neighbor scan will reduce to 20MHz channels because of detected overlapping APs. With a patched version of hostapd you should be able to set 40MHz channels by overriding the scan. Infos here: https://www.brunsware.de/blog/gentoo/hostapd-40…

I have an Orange Pi PC Plus (Armbian Bullseye CLI) that I'm using as a NUT server connecting to a Cyberpower UPS. Every 30 minutes the driver stops working and upon further investigation, this looks to be a USB connection issue. Is there some power-saving mode that would cause this or any other known issue? Thanks!

I own an orange pi PC PLUS for about a year and when I got it, I tested it and it worked fine when it booted up from the internal MMC, then I tried to make a server and I think I messed up something with the LAMP I was trying to make so I stashed the PI to play with it later. Now when I turn on the PI, it only loops and never loads the OS, so I downloaded Focal and buster from this link and burned them to an SD and it also loops in this screen, https://imgur.com/WzikUoo what could be wrong? my idea is to reinstall the OS to the internal MMC so I can then install home assistant. thanks in advanced.

I have an Orange Pi PC Plus running the mainline Debian Stretch desktop version of Armbian, but lately I've been using it headless. When I'm logged in over ssh and shutdown it down using "sudo shutdown -h now", the ssh connection drops and the board's LED flashes then shuts off, giving every indication the board is off. However, power consumption doubles (increasing from ~1.2W to ~2.4 W)! The problem persists as long as the board is powered, so I presume the board is hung and never fully shutdown. Any thoughts as to what could be causing the board to hang when shutting down?
-
As you known OrangePi PC PLUS with armbian (e.g. Armbian 22.05 Jammy) can't be fully off. (But Xunlong's Ubuntu 16 can be off ok) I suggest change status of board from green "Supported" to yellow "SUITABLE FOR TESTING (WIP)".

Hi, I have some issues regarding the Orange Pi becoming non responsive and only accessible. When I look at the log, i just see an sudden stop of writing to the logfile. And this line: [mmc]: sdc2 set ios: clk 50000000Hz bm PP pm ON vdd 3.3V width 8 timing UHS-DDR50 dt B Is the mmc failing? I currently have 80 orange pi's installed. 20 of them have this issue. I want to know something about the physical connection in the integrated CVBS video output. I use a jack of 3.5 mm of 4 pins. Hi all, first of all, I really like the dev-tools! I successfully developed my own Image (incl. patches etc.) and it's running great. But now I want to "burn" it to the Orange Pi's emmc directly, without using nand-sata-install ... it's necessary, because the target-image does not allow shell- and/or ssh-access (for purpose). So I flashed a "normal" armbian-image to my sd-card, copied my own image-file to the card, booted the card and wanted to 'dd' my image to /dev/mmcblk1. Everything went fine till now ... after rebooting w/o the sd-card plugged in, the loader hangs in a loop (Rebooting within 10 seconds) :/ I looked into the nand-sata-install-sc…

Hi all. I'm running armbian in all my orangepi boards since I've them and the distro is great and we'll developed. (thanks!) I run them with telephone chargers (htc and Samsung) 2/1.5A directly connected to the board via a 30cm cable. I don't know what's the status of data pins (d+ d-) but I think they are left open by the cable. They are used for sdr use running dump1090 all the time. In the aim of reducing the heat I've disabled two cores (only recently) out of four and installed a copper heatsink on the cpu. The problem is that from time to time I found my boards unresponsive from ethernet and serial port, so completely stuck. Only a reboot works. Do you h…

Hello, my orange pi pc has recently started to have reduced speeds. Where I used to get the full 100Mbit on lan, I now get around 30Mbit, be it sftp, samba, http. Speed flanctuates a bit but stays around the 30MBit so no big differences. I am able to write with consistent speeds of over 10MB/s on the microsd so that can't be the problem (using dd) and full ~30MB/s on the attached sata disk. uname -a Linux orangepipc 3.4.113-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Thu Feb 23 19:55:00 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux Any ideas what I can check?

I got Armbian (Jessie desktop) working on Orange PI PC. I did "sudo apt-get update" and then "sudo apt-get upgrade" and everything was ok until it said "Compiling headers (please wait)." It has now been on this step for a very, very long time. Is it stuck or does this take a ridiculously long time to complete? Should I shut it down and start over or keep waiting? The green light is staying on steady.

I have been using this orangepi for several years now. Today SSH stopped working (it would hang indefinitely after password prompt) so I decided to restart it by removing and re-plugging the psu cable. After that it never appeared on the network again. 1) the board lights up: green / orange light on ethernet, and one green light on MB that turns on for ~25sec then turns off for ~10sec 2) I connected it to two switches with multiple cables, none of them show the ethernet port as active (no light on the switch port) Obviously due to 2) it doesn't appear on the router 3) microsd mounts fine on my pc, did a backup and flashed a clean image to no avail, wil…

As I observed, green lights on boards -> USB DAC wakes up -> it takes a little while till red light -> USB DAC goes into power save mode with light blinking -> red lights up -> USB DAC wakes up again -> after booting, USB DAC is recognized by alsa but cannot play music through USB DAC e.g. mplayer2 shows "Could not open/initialize audio device -> no sound." The only work around that I know is to plug in USB DAC after power up the board, i.e. power on OPi PC first -> plug in USB DA…

Hi everyone, Sorry if this is a case of me missing something completely obvious but I'm a total beginner and am stuck. I got my first Orange Pi PC the other day and, after a few update issues was advised to put Armbian on it which I've done. My plan was to connect it to my bedroom TV to let me work on coursera courses with wireless mouse & Bluetooth keyboard out of the way of the kids. I've got a generic 802.11N USB wifi adapter which I plugged in to the Pi, but it doesn't show up in my network list. Also, when I plug in a Bluetooth adapter and open the settings it doesn't find any Bluetooth devices at all during search. There's usually an led inside the a…

I've just started using armbian yesterday and one of the first things that i'm trying to do is use my cheap USB wireless module. The chipset is the RTL8188, but the armbian originally recognised and loaded the RTL8192eu driver. When trying to connect with 8192 driver it always returned "Bad Password". Changing the /etc/modules-load.d/modules.conf to 8188cus initially seemed to work, but on the validation stage itsimply freezed and automatically rebooted, repeating it for as many times as i tried. I've also test with others like 8192eu/8192cus/8188eu/8188cu and all of then either returned no wireless network found or freeze and reboot. Is there any way to solve th…

I've been happily running orangepipc with armbian (buster, 4.19.62-sunxi) as an openvpn gateway for my home devices for some time. Here are some details: I have a remote openvpn server the pi runs an openvpn client and connects to the server the pi has ipv4 packets forwarding enabled my wifi router provides the pi's ip as the default gateway via dhcp So when I connect to wifi with my phone, all phone traffic will be routed through the remote openvpn server without need to install the openvpn client on the phone itself. With this setup the pi can easily saturate my 30mbit cable connection when downloading torrents for e…

So first I'm new using armbian on Opi PC. I'm trying using my Opi like a mediaserver on my TV. I install Kodi and everything is ok. I'm now trying to fix some Audio problem. When I watch e video on Youtube, some of them have e perfect sound, some of them have a lot of interferences, so mutch that I can't hear anymore anything of the video. I already configure asound.conf with the card I'm using, i tried already using only HDMI for video and audio or to separate HDMI only for video and 3.5 jack for audio. Both solutions are giving me the same problem. I install every codec I found, also the vlc complete with the browser-plugin, but no way. I t…

Dear Armbian team, I am using debian stretch with orange pi PC ( Linux orangepipc 4.19.38-sunxi #5.83 SMP Fri May 3 23:33:25 CEST 2019 armv7l GNU/Linux ). At the moment by default when I press the power button, it shutdowns the orangepi pc, and I have to plug off/on the power supply to reboot the device. I would like to modify this behavior, to program custom actions when the button is pressed. If possible it would be nice to be able to distinguish between short press and long press. I tried without success to follow the manual instructions, and add the custom overlay gpio-button.dts. Also tried the acpi package approach without a…

I just discovered that /usr/bin/su in my Armbian: v26.2.1 for Orange Pi PC running Armbian Linux 6.12.58-current-sunxi is a x86_64 binary: $ ls -l /usr/bin/su -rwsr-xr-x 1 root root 50800 Mar 6 13:10 /usr/bin/su $ file /usr/bin/su /usr/bin/su: setuid ELF 64-bit LSB executable, x86-64, version 1 (SYSV), statically linked, no section header I installed the rust version, su-rs, but I thought it would be useful to warn about this. I checked /usr/bin and /usr/sbin and this is the only x86-64 executable.

I'm a newbie and I cannot solve this issue... by typing tail -f / var/log/mail.log after some hours working the tail is not updating anymore.. to solve I have to: delete mail.log file create new mail.log file chmod a+w /var/log/mail* service syslog restart service postfix restart but again in few hours tail -f stop updating incoming events. Moreover, if I try with tail -f / var/log/syslog or tail -f / var/log/ufw.log the same result Any suggestion is highly appreciated..

Hi all, I'm not very familiar with linux scripting especially for controlling GPIO on Orange Pi. So my question is: is it possible to connect a fan to a GPIO port that is activated when temperature goes above a given value? Does anyone have a script for that or can suggest how to get it done? I have a plastic housing for the board and a fan attached to it that is constantly running. But for 95% of the time I don't have load on the pi and don't need the fan... Thanks in advance

Hi all and many thanks to armbian team - it is a great distro. I installed armbian to my orange pi pc (just pc, not pc+) and it works. TV out works too. But no one of my usb wi-fi adapters are supported by default kernel 3.4. This is why I go to "kernel" tab at page https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/and follow instructions to switch to development kernel. Also I follow instruction at "Nighty releases" tab in order to get the newest versions of software. After installing new kernel I edit symlik /boot/script.bin to point to "bin/orangepipc.bin" instead of default "bin/orangepipcplus.bin" and reboot. Orange pi boots successfully and I can log in via ssh, but tv sign…

Wpa supplicant driver crashed during boot and there is some strange message in startup log about usb. I am at work now so I cannot post it but on development version I tested this morning is that wifi dongle working and successfully connected to network. Sent from my Redmi Note 2 using Tapatalk

Hi Guys, I installed armbian on an SD Card and the installed it to the eMMC. Which all worked fine. After a bit of tinkering, it would no longer boot (no ssh access) and when I insert the original sd card now it wont boot from that either. I think I read that the it won't boot from the sd card if there is a valid boot record on the eMMC, so what can I do now? Thanks

Hello there. I've got an Orange Pi PC+ SBC running desktop Armbian Xenial 5.38 kernel 3.4.113 from its eMMC that showed up pink screen after intermittent Power Up. I was using a 5V power adaptor that became faulty and intermittently became on and off. After replacing the power adaptor and booting up my device to a HDMI monitor, I found out that it now displays nothing but pink screen! Here's what I've done to no avail: 1. Turning on the HDMI monitor before and after I turn on the machine 2. SSHing from UART0 and suing command h3disp -m 5 (or 6 or 33 or 34...). No dice 3. Booting using the same Armbian OS but from SD card. SSH shows me the hostn…

Hi, I seem to be unable to create a working image for my Orange Pi PC+ with a 4.x kernel (I want to use Docker). I had a working 4.7.3 install but a recent (this week) apt-get upgrade installed a 4.8.x kernel (and probably a u-boot) after which my Opi PC+ will not boot anymore (my home-router shows the opi for a short time but it disappears before I can do a ssh to the Opi PC+). None of the images I have or create with a 4.x kernel seem to want to work. Only the 3.4.112 images that I download will work. Since I fried my uart0 and I haven't been able to use uart1 I have not been able to debug this. So I was hoping someone has a working image with a 4.x kernel …

I've been reading on the forums on the possibility of having multiple OSes inside 1 EMMC for the Opi PC+. Armbian Jammy Desktop Now I want to make another device that has 2 OS partitions, like so: 1) Bootloader 2) 1st OS main partition, 3) 2nd OS main partition, 4) unallocated free space I'm thinking of using DD to extract the …

Recently I borrowed my Orange Pi PC2 to a friend, and he fails to set up SSH connection w/ it. After debugging w/ HDMI monitor, I found ssh_host_ecdsa_key, ssh_host_ed25519_key and ssh_host_rsa_key are preloaded to the Orange Pi PC2 image, which prevented SSH from working. Even if it doesn't prevent working of SSHD, it's also a severe security hole -- that means all Armbian installation with the same image will uses the same host key and they're vulnerable to MITM attack. I think these files should be purged when generating image, and regenerated when first powerup. It's what AOSC OS images do.
