Hello, I have a fully working customized Armbian on OrangePi PC Plus. There are two partitions, one for the rootfs, second mounted as /home I want to convert the root partition to squashfs, and use the squashfs file to boot from. I already converted the root partition to squashfs file, I can mount squashfs file, and the contents are correct. I even tried to mount it via fstab and it works. I searched everywhere, obviosly not enough, but I cannot find a way to boot directly from the squashfs file. The idea is to have only squashfs file and rw partition for /home Please, can somebody help me, or point me to the right instructions ?

Hi there. First time posting. I already installed the latest version of the desktop version for my M1 and I was gratefully surprised how an old device is still working thanks to the armbian community. Thanks all of you. I am on a retro project trying to make my M1 working on an old crt TV through the pal/ntsc video output. New compiled kernel doesn’t seem to have the necessary driver/module. Any workarounds/ideas to achieve that? thanks

See build log https://paste.armbian.de/lesoquheja The kernel works, but installing the .deb failed because my extlinux script could not copy: /usr/lib/linux-image-6.18.1-edge-sunxi/overlay/sun8i-h3-analog-codec.dtbo The whole overlay folder does not exist. It does exist for 6.12.58-current-sunxi and last time I compiled kernel for the nanopineo was 6.16.8, the overlays were created. I remember it was also once the case with edge kernel for other SBC ( .deb package from the Armbian beta repo). That time own local build did create overlays. I am not sure where to look or what could be wrong.

The latest mainline u-boot + lamobo R1 patch does not appear to work when you try dhcp or ping on a Lamobo R1 (also known as Banana Pi R1) board. I wonder if the u-boot code needs to be modified to take care of the specifics of the GMAC/switch chip on a Lamobo R1 board. The defconfig for Lamobo R1 is the same as that for Banana Pi. Please shed some light to this issue. Thanks a lot. JLu

I have a Banana PI M1+ with latest Armbian Jessie with 3.4.109 kernel. The dmesg contains many rows like this ones ... hi, I made a program on Orange pi minus (kernel 3.X)using wpa_supplicant for wifi direct. That worked fine (basically). But i have been asked to do it on Orange pi plus with Kernel 4.9. The wifi works when i using nmtui, but when i made a iw list i couldn't find my material and i am not able to configure P2P. I think the problem is the kernel version and not the Hardware because my card with kernel 3.X works on orange pi pc plus. So i am a bit lost, what can i do ? My guest is to modify the realtek module ? I am not sure if i am on the right direction... Thanks, Ps: Sorry for my english.

Hi, I read the docs but could not find out what to download to get a headless server. Getting Started says: "mainline: headless server, light desktop operations" In mainline there are 2 downloads for server (Debian, Ubuntu) and one for desktop (Ubuntu). I do not need a desktop, thus I do not want to waste space, RAM and CPU on anything related to it. May I ask, what to download or if there is no headless version what to do to remove the desktop-features alltogether? Thank you very much. Stephan

Hi all and thanks for the great work done. I'm trying to install armbian on the eMMC of my NanoPi M1 Plus, the system boot from SD and I create the user then I start the nand-sata-install command. In the "choose an option" I have only "1 Boot from eMMC - system on eMMC" and then I choose ext4. The process complete and I launch the "dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/mmcblk0 bs=1024 seek=8 count=1" command directly after. The system does not boot anymore with and without the SD inserted. On serial console, in both cases, I get: U-Boot SPL 2017.05-armbian (Jun 13 2017 - 15:14:45) DRAM: 1024 MiB Trying to boot from MMC2 MMC Device 1 not found spl…

Hello! I have problems with Banana Pi and for today - updated all packages, and I can't connect via SSH nor FTP to my Pi. I have not changed anything, but there is automatic script which dist-upgrades the whole system, it is running once a day. Till 12.34pm CET everything was working fine - from logs, even I think till past 4pm I have connected via SSH to Pi, but then after kernel upgrade (seen note after logon) and reboot I can't access Pi in any way. I've tried to see logs: connect SD card to laptop with Linux to check if there is any problem, but didn't found nothing special. I've also tried to attach HDMI monitor but no signal. Seem…

Hi All, Can you please help me how can I set up OV5647 camera with Orange Pi One? Where can I find driver for it? Hi, I'm using several Orange Pi Zero boards. At any given time, when I run "reboot now", I can no longer access the OPI via ssh. Is there any corruption of ssh files? Thank you for your help

Hello, I am trying to communicate with a mcp2515 breakout (8Mhz oscillator) on an Orange Pi Pc+ I have modified the breakout following info on Raspberry Pi: HowTo/Quickstart MCP2515 to keep logic level @3v I have two other nodes composed by two Arduinos, with same (not modified) breakout, one that transmits the other receives. I have successfully tested the first breakout (used on OPi) with an Arduino (powered by 3.3v and 5v on TJA1050). It lets me think that hardware is OK. Hi all together, on a Raspberry Pi 3b and 3b+ as well as on a Odroid-C2 I know how to switch off the blinking LEDs s or Power LEDs. Does anybody know how I can switch off or dim that extremely bright red power LED from the OrangePi3? I tried a script snippet like this: echo none > /sys/class/leds/orangepi\:red:\power/trigger But it wont work. Has anybody a helpful hint for an unpatient contemporary? Thanks for help :o)

Hi everyone, I connected my board with my PC via serial USB. Then I opened a serial with minicom and tried to test it out. I can send the strings from my board to PC without any problems but when I write something on the PC it sends garbage to my board. But, if I connect the TX, RX like: TX->TX RX->RX instead of TX->RX, RX->TX it sends normal from the PC and garbage from the board. I checked my baud rates but everything seems legit. I tried both 9600, 115200 bit rates, I also tried the both voltages (5V, 3.3V) What do you think could cause this problem? I saw this thread but seems like ther…

I believe that ethernet adaptor is not working properly because there's only one led blinking and its unable to receive ip address. I have tried to configure it with yaml files and manually with networkd and with static ip. I also tried to run dhcp on that interface and it received random ip outside of my network. Had no luck with network-manager either, it threw an error "ip configuration could not be reserved" With desktop image ethernet worked with no problem. So maybe there's a driver issue?

Hello I have a BPi-R1 with Igor's 3.2 image (http://www.igorpecovnik.com/2014/09/07/banana-pi-debian-sd-image/) that runs as a router (with pppoe) and nginx/php5/mysql config for my wife's blog and also with ez-ipupdate for dynamic dns I have a nasty issue... once every 2 or 3 days, my board freezes for no aparent reason It does this even if root is on SD card (only sd card connected) or HDD (I have a modified mSATA adapter to get power from 3,3V SATA power connector... I removed the 3,3V regulator and added a thick wire from the 3,3V provided by the board through the SATA connector) Also I moved from this configuration: to this fan gpio controlled (witch was ver…

Hi guys, I'm a bit lost with this one. I want to setup a way of basically reinstalling a NanoPi Neo over the network. My thought process is: 1. Boot from NFS. 2. In the boot process have a script that runs the nand-sata-install.sh (or modified version of). 3. Reboot with new OS from USB. Now, I'm sure I can get this working, the bit that I am having trouble working out is how the bootloader will know if we should be loading from NFS or USB. Can UBoot grab this from the network? Ideally this will also be done without SSH access. I know this is a complicated problem but any guidance in the right direction will be really appreciated. Thanks!

I got my OPi PC2 last week and flashed the latest armbian server version. Every time I enter "reboot" on SSH to reboot the system, or plug in the power cable. The system can not boot up with a great probability. My power source is the charger for SAMSUNG smartphone. The specification indicates it can provide 5V/2A current. With the UART, I found the uboot process was stuck after the statement "INFO: BL3-1: Next image address: 0x4a000000, SPSR: 0x3c9". The LED is OFF in that moment. After plugging out/in the power cable multiple times, the system can be boot up successfully finally and works very well. I'…

Well it took me longer than i hoped but i have managed to forward port icenowys code for TVE on the H2+/H3 to mainline armbian. It seems to work totally fine, with a few caveats. First: Sample images of it in action -> https://imgur.com/a/vXQEM Second: the patch itself -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/tree/v0.0.11 Third a prebuilt image for Orange Pi Zero: -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/releases/tag/v0.0.11 Howto: just put the patch into userpatches for the sunxi-next kernel, and build. it should apply cleanly. Its for H2+/H3. I have only tried it on a orange pi zero, but it should work on all H2+/H3 boards. …

it appears the pins on the esp8266 12e are also on the orange pi one. Can I connect the pins to an armbian orange pi one and then test the esp8266 12e? I want to test if wifi works. Is required software present in armbian? Or should I get an usb adapter https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1pm33XifrK1RjSspbq6A4pFXaf.jpg?width=1000&height=1000&hash=2000 and utilize a x86 gnulinux computer? It says the esp8266 12e supports i2c. Does the orange pi one have i2c pins, such that I can test the wifi of the esp8266 12e from an i2c connection on the armbian orange pi one? Is required software present in armbian? Thanks.

Hello Armbian team, I must start by thanking you for the effort you put into Armbian and making it possible for us to get the best of our boards. Your work is appreciated! Hello! Brand new user here to the NanoPi Neo and even the forum. I'm planning to use a NanoPi Neo as hardware "interactor", the main idea is to connect a NanoPi Neo to a smartphone (Android or iOS), power the board from the USB cable and work in Host Mode to interact with de smartphone with libimobiledevice or adb. OTG does not support charging + data at the same time without a "special" OTG adapter. What I want to do is power the NanoPi by using the smartphone and even interact with it in host mode, like a regular computer will do, in simple terms, using a single cable, but getting power from it. Is this possible using NanoPi microUSB+OT…

Hey Guys, IM finally trying to make use of my OPi0 and Im planning on creating a daughterboard/hat/shield similar to the expansion board they sell, but with only the bits i need. One thing i'm wondering is if its possible to feed the power (5v) via the pins on the expansion board and not using the OTG input. Im trying to keep it as clean as possible and dont want to have the OTG connection for power. Is the regulator only on the OTG? Last I checked, my power supply gives out a steady 5.3v feed @5amps (driving some power hungry pixels). In regards to sound. I wanted to use an LMA386 amp on my custom daughter board to boost the output for a 4 ohm speaker i'…

Hi Did a fresh install of Armbian_5.38_Orangepiplus_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.img on a Orange Pi Plus. Efter reboot, I did a apt-get update and apt-get upgrade, then rebooted... For some reason, wlna0 is no longer listed. I can do a "ifconfig wlan0 up", which brings up the interface - but so far I have had no success in configuring the wlan0 interface, neither by armbian-config nor nmtui I have even tried to edit /etc/network/interfaces and add: allow-hotplug wlan0 auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet dhcp wpa-ssid "RG47C" wpa-psk "Secret!!!" but I am still not able to get it up and running. Hello All, I have configured OrangePiR1 as router. There are three network interfaces, two as wired and one wifi(hotspot). eth0 serve for access to internet(via ppp/adsl) and eth1+Wlan0 for internal network. Interfaces eth1 and wlan0 are in bridge br0. Problem is, that interface eth1 sometimes loses connection/link(cable and switch were checked ). Next nonstandard behavior of eth1 is, that only yellow led control is blinking, while green led control is not alight. Network interfaces were configured via file /etc/network/interfaces. However, when I checked network manager nmcli, I saw, that some connections are configured there too (there can …

hallo, for bananapim2 i can build jammy legacy and current, cli and xfce, on my pc-ubuntu-jammy. I just coppy bananapim2.eos to bananapim2.conf, removed box86 files while my pc-ubuntu-jammy seems have problems with build-script to download addition softaware from some git or ppa. Hi Igor, hi all, I use a BPi M1 and today I tested Igor's debian wheezy 4.1.2 image. It works really great. Thanks a lot. As mentioned in the FAQ I had a look at /etc/init.d/cpufrequtils. As written there it is possible to change the frequencies. The possible values are stored in "scaling_available_frequencies". The default value for "max_speed" in Igor's image is "max_speed=1010000". But this value ist not available inside "scaling_available_frequencies". "cpufreq-info -m" tells the current policy: frequency shoukd be within 480-960 MHz. 960 MHz is the maximum value in "scaling_available_frequencies". Normally BPi is able to run at 1008 MHz. How can I change…

With every upgrade I struggle with a "changed to default" login welcome message and have to do my modifications again. Therefore I would like to explain my changes and hope you can integrate them in the default version...: Your welcome message prints the $BOARD_NAME as ASCII art. Probably you have dozens of boards and can distinguish them in this way. So after login-in you directly see which board it is. I have only one type of "boards" (Cubietruck) and distinguish them by their hostname. So I have to replace "$BOARD_NAME" with "$(hostname -s)" in /etc/update-motd.d/10-header to identify my boards. What do you think about a change in that direction?

Hi! Could you please clarify, is there a way to increase default limitations for max cpu freq (H5) on Orange Pi Prime? As i understand, according to driver (cpufreq-dt): /etc/default/cpufrequtils is a bit less restrictive: Is this a driver limitation ? Or there is a way to increase cpu-freq, but it's not used by default ? ( ... and why, if it is so ?)

Hi there, I noticed there are up to date builds for Pine64 for Debian and also up to date ones for Ubuntu for the Orange Pi Win. But none for Debian and Orange Pi Win, newest ones are from November probably with legacy kernel? Is this just some kind of build script hiccup? If not, do you have an idea about a timeframe for new Debian builds? (I'd rather not use Ubuntu if it's just a few days/weeks I'd have to wait for Debian.)

Hello everybody! I would like to make a home media server with my HDD connected to Banana Pi (on SATA). I want to run Torrent client with WebUI, dlna and VPN server thereon. I`m stucked with fstab file configuration. First I tried to format my HDD`s partition to NTFS, every permission was good, but Transmission download, and FSTP file download was incredibly slow (4MB/s, but I have gigabit internet connection). Dear mainline developers, I'm writing a (mainline) SPI driver for de ads131 from TI which I would like to make use of DMA, on the orangePIzero H2, zero+ H3/H5 and nanopi NEO2+. On the 4.13.3-sunxi kernel (armbian 5.33), this works fine, the driver is automatically loaded when the associated devicetree overlay is loaded, and the DMA can be allocated. However, when I compile the same driver for newer kernels (4.14.17-sunxi, 4.14.39-sunxi, 4.14.67-sunxi armbian 5.59), the dma allocation no longer appears to work, while the SPI part of the devicetree is identical except for the phandle (checked with dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base on newest 4.14.67-sunxi kerne…

Issue found! Orange PI changed eMMC from KLM8G1GETF to KLM8G1WEPD. The difference is eMMC 5.0 vs 5.1 and maybe more. The key things is that Armbian (checked using 5.35 and the latest one) does not see this memory (fdisk -l)!! I have noticed it on OPI0 Plus 2 H3. PCB boards are the same, only memory model no. difference. Someone solved it or noticed the same? Confused 🤨

Hi everyone, Very green here. Basically I setup 1 of my orange pi a few months back with "Armbian_23.02.3_Orangepizero2_jammy_legacy_4.9.318". I recently bought another pi and wanted to set it up with a newer version. I see bookworm is now the latest. I have tried both CLI and Minimal but whenever I flash those into my micro SD the orange pi never boots up. My router doesnt see the connection, so it cant hand off an IP. I thought maybe it was a bad mini SD or a bad pi. But when I flashed the old jammy image into the same SD, the pi immediately picked up the connection, my router gave it an IP and I was able to log in as a root to the pi. I re…

Hi guys, I just installed Kodi on my Orange Pi Lite running Armbian. Everything worked very well, except for the fact that that there seemed to be no audio at all through my tv. I am a beginner, so I really don't know what to do at this point. I saw someone talking about editing the /etc/asound.conf file so it will transmit sound through the HDMI cable. However, I have no idea how to open a file in the Terminal. I would love to (at least) know how to open a file in the Terminal. Thanks in advance, TheNooter.

I booted up my OPi0 + $2 expansion board this weekend after reading through the doc on it warning about TVout problems. Used the legacy Xenial 5.25 build available. I used the USB-serial method and logged in from my PC via SSH later over WiFi. On the TV there was no desktop GUI display, just the regular login prompts CLI. Hello, I'm looking for an efficient way to update the eMMC-memory of multiple NanoPi NEO Air's (roll out a production image). Hi! Just saw a new board from FriendlyARM - NanoPi R1 (https://www.friendlyarm.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=69&product_id=248). It based on Allwinner H3, has dual Ethernet port, wi-fi and Bluetooth, USB, and onboard eMMC. Memory options are 512MB or 1GB. It comes in a case, just add power supply. Looks quite fun SBC for IoT and for micro router. I was unable to find Armbian images for this board. Could you please comment if is it possible to use images for other Allwinner H3 boards? Do you have any plans to support this board? Thank you in advance for your comments!
