Hi all. I'm new, so don't hit too hard. I'm interested in how the NAS Dock for NanoPi Neo2 is defined in the system. I want to install OpenWRT, because I need a NanoPi based router. Armbian seems to me too complicated for such tasks. If you put OpenWRT on NEO2, then NAS Dock is not detected in the system. At that time Armbian determines, I can easily open the HDD or connect devices to the dock's USB port. Please tell me. Which module or driver is responsible for the dock to be defined in the system? The Openwrt forum has not yet been able to help me, so I'm writing here. Help as you can. Скрытый текст Привет всем. Я новичо…

Hi there, I am new here, and new to Armbian I have a Orange Pi Plus2 and I am trying to make a project to present Spotify as an iPod over USB, so that it can be used in vehicles / docks that support iPod connectivity via USB Some of this work has already been done here on the iPod USB gadget driver side https://github.com/oandrew/ipod-gadget Using the standard premade armbian builds I cannot compile the source code as the headers are missing. Therefore I compiled Armbian from source using INSTALL-HEADERS=yes, mainline Jessie. As there is no option for the Orange Pi Plus2 board, I used the Orange Pi plus config instead. …

Hi, I am new to the Armbian. I have build the kernel for BananaPi M2+ using the instruction specified in Armbian document for Building with Vagrant. I could see the output file "linux-image-sun8i-5.59.armhf.deb" in the "output/debs" folder. Know I don't know how to download or install this file on the SD card which is running on my bananaPi M2+. Bascically I need guidance on how to transfer my kernel build image from my windows PC to the SD card which I will be using to test the Bananapi M2+ board. Any help or documents will be highly appreciated.

I have a variety of boards - an OrangePiPlus, a hummingboard, a RaspberryPi, a RaspberryPi2 that I can test - as well as a bunch of other boards that are not supported. I am an embedded linux developer so I have reasonable competence with building kernels, writing drivers, scripting .... I would be interested in helping with testing and fixing things atleast with those boards that I have available to me. But I could use some clues. Is there a developers guide to Armbian ? Something that lays out how the build process works ? Or does one just jump in ? As an example it does not appear that install-nand-state is working for either the legacy or vanila…

I've been having a rather odd issue with an entirely pink screen upon cold boot. I tried with Raspbian and it didn't occur there. This has actually prevented me from using the device at all now. When I first set it up, I was able to Ctrl C the setup stuff and type in reboot. When it rebooted, I was able to use it again. However, last night the Wifi completely died. I tried everything to revive it but it kept asking for the password repeatedly. Tried different networks, no luck. Figured power cycling might help. Bad idea. Now I can't SSH in to type in reboot, and I'm now permanently stuck on a pink screen. Doesn't matter if …

Hello everyone, I am using Orange Pi Zero LTS 512MB (H3 Cpu) hardware. As an image; I am using "Armbian 22.08 Jammy Kernel 5.15.y, Updated: Sep 24,202". The MAC address changes every time the Wi-Fi is turned on. I tried several different images. I tried a few simple fixes posted on the forums, but only managed to fix it for ethernet. But it was not successful for Wi-Fi. I need an image or solution that does not change the MAC address. Is there anyone who can help with this?

Hello, My project for Orange Pi Lite will be used in a car. To make the installation easy for everyone I would like to supply it from car lighter socket. Of course, this solution is not perfect (frequent insert/pull the plug by the user, current decays etc.). I mean problems with switching off without shutdown. I also mean how uSD will stand it. For now, I thing to attach an 18650 cell with booster/charger which will work as a "buffer" to keep current when the lighter socket is off. But I am afraid that it can keep power only for 1-2 hour. Is there a possibility to check the power level of the connected cell and shut down the system when the power is low? P…

After setting up my static IP address, I can't SSH or Ping to the board anymore. The board shows up on my router list of connected devices, and the Pi Hole works normally. I flashed a new SD card and went step by step to see what was causing the problem. I resize the filesystem, update and upgrade the system, then I set up the static IP, so this happens. I tried both by /etc/netwkork/interfaces and by nmtui. This is what my /etc/network/interfaces file looks like: auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet static address 192.168.25.160 netmask 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.25.1

I have perfectly equal Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H3 boards in their original case - booting from eMMC. Hi Igor, while playing with your Armbian and kernel to squeeze even more juice from my cubietruck, i would ask you if you think it would be possible to add to your kernel and u-boot build the support for KVM. Here one experiment with KVM: https://rwmj.wordpress.com/2013/12/13/kvm-working-on-the-cubietruck/ Then, partially related with this, it would be nice to have the watchdog enabled to fight the occasional low level hang that happens sometimes (all freezed with 4 led on).

On the 20.08.2 Buster release (Kernel 5.8.6) the headphone jack is not currently working. HDMI audio seems to be supported. aplay -L returns only the HDMI audio interface. Hello, I recently purchased a Banana Pi M2, and downloaded the latest desktop image to my SanDisk 32gb MicroSD card. Everything boots-up. However, the only interface that seems to be able to get onto the internet properly is wlan0 (Wireless). Ethernet, regardless of DHCP (registers properly) or Static does not seem to route properly. For example, I am not able to ping or SSH the device from another PC, and the Pi (itself) cannot ping/access any local IPv4 address as well. Internet access fails, and points to DNS not working properly (even though servers are specified). Tried many different methods, including taking management/control away from "NetworkManager", but …

Well, I have this old M1 lying around. I found use for it. However HDMI output seems to be broken and I have composite video USB dongle at my hand and it boots... but I can not do anything with it. Auto configuration tools - as handy and nice those are - are not for this. Thanks.

I could not compile the needed driver, so I tried to use the vanilla-kernel, because the newer kernel has support for this DVB-card. I could use the Technotrend-device with vanilla. But both devices stutters when displaying or recording a stream. Is this a known problem? When switching back to legacy, the old Tevii-device runs smooth again, but there is no support for Technotrend. What can I d…

Hi all, I've come upon a weird thing and I wanted to verify that I don't so something wrong. I've build a custom kernel module which is a PWM led device with an SPI interface. If I use the spidev, then everything works fine and I'm able to control the led. But when I'm using a custom device-tree and load the module then when I'm calling the `spi_write()` function then I'm getting an error (-22). The external device is actually an arduino nano that implements an I2C IIO light measurement device, using a dual light dependent resistor. Also I'm using the SPI channel to drive a led using PWM. It's very straight-forward a…

the entry in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq (maybe the path is wrong, I haven't the machine and I'm going by memory) is readable only by root so it is not usable to a normal user to display the current frequency of the processor, There is a way to change this behaviour? My distribution is for Olimex-A20-Micro with legacy kernel 5.14 if i don't go wrong. TIA and regards

Hello, I'm using Armbian 5.20 on my Orange Pi. Everything is working as it should except for the subtitles in MPV. I already upgraded to a newer version of MPV VDPAU which makes no difference so i went back to the orignal MPV and VDPAU. The problem is that at intermittent times the subtiles display over each other. It seems that the first subtitle which should have been gone according to the srt is still being displayed under the newly displayed subtitle. Have anyone encountered this problen and is there a solution to this problem?

Last year I tried the 5.30 and was not happy, as the PI did not give signal to HDMI, when monitor was plugged in while booting. After booting, plug in HDMI cable, picture was on monitor. Now tried the newer Armbian_5.38 on a 2nd Orange PI PC, and I get NO picture / signal on HDMI. Nothing. Have also changed to several resolutions, but no image on monitor or beamer. I have also tried the "DVI adapter option" in the "armbian config". What is wrong with it? I have 2 PI PCs. Same problem on the other PI (now there runs a PI HOLE, as I was not able to get a picture without un-pluging the HDMI cable, so I switched over to a Banana PI M1 for…

Hi all. Strange thing happens. I've tried to run a fresh installation of the 4.4.3 kernel version of armbian 5.04. The first boot takes forever (I gave up after 2 hours; a few times). It started and hung up at updating packages. Every try; tried about 10 times. If I switched to 5.04 with kernel 3.4.110 - the first boot takes about 1minute and cubietruck rebooted once, so everything worked perfectly. Any idea what could happened? Some extra info: If I logged in during this "updating packages" period, the normal process of creating a new user worked as normal. After that I could restart the cubietruck normally. So my question: Do I get some problems if I …

Is there any way to get a video player to display subtitles on an H3 board? I've tried VLC and SMPlayer, but neither are able to do so (the problem seems to be that the video output is overlayed *over* the system display rather than mixed with it on a per-pixel basis, so while the subtitles are being displayed by the player, they simply aren't visible). Is there any adjustment/update/other player I can use to fix this problem? Orange Pi Plus 2 I have armbian 5.05 installed, so not sure if there are any updates that might help?

I'm using an Olimex LIME2 board with an A20 processor (actually it's a Olimex A20-SOM, but that shouldn't matter) and trying to use PWM. I'm not sure I even want BakeBit. I'm trying to use the GPIO in my NanoPi Neo2. Specifically I want to read a digital I/O pin on/off state. And if possible I'd like to read an analog voltage from the H5's built in ADC. Now that I've looked deeper into BakeBit, it seems like the entire purpose of BakeBit is to do GPIO with an Arduino, and read the information remotely on a RbPi/NanoPi or whatever ON the Arduino's GPIO pins. If that is really what BakeBit is, then BakeBit doesn't interest me. The H5 already has GPIO and an ADC. We just need to get that working. For interest's sake, here is the progress I made with BakeBit. ADC Python example in Bakebit h…

Hi everyone. I heard Armbian was the to-go distribution for the Nanopi NEO Air. I've got a bunch of these boards where I'd like to use the built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability in a small form factor for a project. I don't need video or audio or other functionality. I see a legacy kernel "stable build" and a mainline kernel "experimental" build. For the experimental build it lists the following known problems: No Mali drivers No hardware accelerated video decoding schedutil CPU governor may cause clicks and pops on audio output – change(d) to ondemand to work around this issue This sounds fine with me. I need no video, and…

Hello everyone. I just got an Orange Pi Plus 2e, which I intend to use a as a personal cloud server. I understand that, in this board, Legacy Kernel is much better than Mainline for desktop usage (video accel, TV out, etc.), but I am not so clear about which one is better for a server. May main concerns are: Ethernet and Wifi speed and reliabililty (ethernet will conect to Internet, and Wifi to home devices as an AP) I/O speed for the USB attached HD Security Any advice about which Kernel to choose? Thanks!

I have a cubieboard2 running Armbian_4.5_Cubieboard2_Debian_jessie_4.2.3.zip and when I ran a seemingly innocent "npm search" command, the system became extremely slow. It responded to pings, but SSH commands were taking many minutes to complete. I was able to grab a screenshot of "top" while it was in this state (attached). Root is on SD, I set up a 1GB swap partition over SATA. My questions are: * Is setting up a 1GB swap partition over SATA a bad idea? * Why do all of the processes suddenly report 100% CPU when main memory runs out? * How can I prevent this in the future? * Is there any other diagnostics or tests that can help determine the root cause? Thanks…

Have not been able to confirm if it is possible for the Orange Pi Zero to act as a virtual mass storage device. I would like to be able to plug this into a device and have that device treat the Pi Zero as a USB drive, and write to the on board SD as such. I believe this requires USB on the go so that the device can be USB slave. Any input on the topic is appreciated. I know the Raspberry Pi Zero W supports this, but I think i will have better luck with the wireless having an external antenna on the Orange Pi Zero.

Lucky me received a Beelink X2 as a gift days ago. I flashed Legacy 3.4.112 to a Samsung EVO and am pretty stoked to see this display on an HDMI TV. It doesn't display to DVI but I saw reference to h3disp, so I have hope this applies. I'd like to incorporate a Traveller mode (I made that up) that can be set so the unit knows monitors are likely to change and find an automatic way for this to detect DVI. I'll also get a cheap USB soundcard and output to a monitor that has a soundbar and avoid SPDIF for a while. That's about it: play tutorials and enjoy what Armbian can do. I can't tell you how blown away I am with this neat little Beelink X2, or how much I'm in aw…

Hi guys, I bought the orange zero and then I realized how poor wifi. I had some wifi modules from old tablets at home, they are rlt8188eu. After I joined the orange, there was another problem. Wifi driver could not be initialized, because I knew that these modules can operate on orange pc out of box, I began to research the problem. Cause I am linux ZERO, it took me longer time, but I finally found soulution. Problem was in fex file for orange zero, wifi_usbc_type = it´s without parameter, after I added some parameter ( "5" from working orange pc fex), wifi work like a charm. I´m not sure if it´s purpose, or bug, so I write you....

I expect i am missing something obvious - any help gratefully accepted.
