Hello, i have a old Banana Pi M2 with the current Armbian in use. I use the green LED with Heartbeat Signal. Today i try to connect with putty but after Username and PW nothing happen. Samba Service work normal. Then i have look at the Banana and the green LED was lightning constant and no heartbeat blinking. Maybe the trouble was because in a few meters distance sawed with a circular saw. Has perhaps caused interference or power fluctuations. No idea and maybe just coincidence. I have been using Armbian for only two days. Previously, the manufacturers ran Distribution for two years. I have Google and found out t…

Hi. I am having this issue with Orange PI PC. If it boots up when the TV it connects to over HDMI is off, I am getting blank pink screen. I guess it is because it chooses different video output when TV isn't detected. Raspbian forums suggest disabling "HDMI hotplug" by editing /boot/config.txt , but Armbian hasn't got this file. Please share your suggestions as this TV is on the wall in my kid's school at 2m height - and if it reboots due to short power failure, it needs a ladder to get fixed. Please help me before school year starts

Good morning all. I was trying to power up my nanopi M1 through the VDD_5V and GND pins shown in GPIO.jpg image and/or the power pins on the debug GPIO pins, the schematics of the board power electronics are attached too on page 7 and 8, may by I'm wrong but what I see on those schematics is that all the power switchs and DC/DC converters can be powered through those pins but when I do that using a USB cable cutted on the micro USB side and prepared with the right terminals to fit the pins -with a 5V USB charger- then the tension drops aproximatelly to 4.60-4.67 DCV, the board starts by lighting dimly the power LED (as normally) but when the power LED lights strongly also…

Hi, we are trying to make our Orange PI zero with custom shield working with an MCP2518FD on board with SN65HVD23 tranceiver. Greetings all. I am having no success getting access to gpio pins in NR using opi-gpio. I am trying to re-build a system that I messed up due to an update. The update broke access to the 1-wire host adapter I had running on I2C. I have searched and read a lot trying to find a solution but I am not making enough sense of the solutions I read to even know if they apply or if I am applying them correctly. Very frustrating because I had this working once but that was a number of versions ago for both armbian and NR. Also, the gpio pins were working even after the I2c update. In the process of 'fixing' that I started over with current armbian: mil…

Hi, I've just downloaded the July 12th image with the 3.4.108 kernel from http://www.igorpecovnik.com/2013/12/24/cubietruck-debian-wheezy-sd-card-image/. After booting from SD card i can't seem to reach ssh on this machine. I can ping it though ping times vary between 1 and 220ms. I tried to boot several times but nothing changes. With the 4.x kernel i was able to boot and ssh into. Any idea?

TKaiser. If you install the Desktop version of Armbian 5.10 then the following list of codecs (containing h.265 with 8 bit but not 10 bit!) is available for HW accelerated decoding: http://linux-sunxi.o...ed_codec_matrix Is 8 Bit versus 10 Bit a limitation. Can the Orange Pi PC with Armbian 1.10 decode all HEVC 8 or 10 bit encoding to 8 bit decoding, or can it ONLY do 8bit encoded to 8 bit decoding? Seasalt

Hi All, Just wanted to share a good story using armbian. I have used in the past 1-wire probes for temperature, and the process included decompiling, editing and recompiling dtb for my Banana Pi M1, which was not easy at all. Every firmware update deleted by changes and had to redo de recompilation. With latest kernels and armbian version, the process is now extremely easy, just edit: /boot/armbianEnv.txt Adding this lines: overlays=w1-gpio param_w1_pin=PI3 # desired pin(7th pin (GCLK) or number 4 on first column where number 1 is +3V) param_w1_pin_int_pullup=1 # internal pullup-resistor: 1=on, 0=off …

The Volumio team is currently investigating whether our sopine64 based motivo board (https://volumio.org/epic-journey-called-volumio-motivo/) could boot from usb using SPI flash. I'm aware of the sunxi SPI developments in u-boot and mainline kernel, and that we theoretically should be able to flash the SPI-NOR chip with the correct u-boot version using FEL mode. I also read that armbian has been prepared for booting from usb (as @martinayotte mentioned in other places). My question is, did anyone actually do anything in this direction, is there something I could help testing with? I know how to compile u-boot as I've done this with armbian's u-boot ver…

Banana pi M1 armbian 5.14 installed on SDcard and HDD This is not PSU error, since other distros are running smoothly. This is not SDcard error, since I dded this SDcard to another and tested it.

Hi all, I have no luck to get wifi work on NanoPi M1 with the usb dongle RLT8188CUS. I have followed the tutorial "OPI ONE wireless success" to config. But, I don't see any "wlan0" or wifi device at all with the usb dongle plugged in. "nmtui" does not detect any wifi device as well. It appears to me that, although armbian recognizes the usb dongle, armbian does not treat it as a wlan0 device. I very appreciate if anyone can give me some suggestions to diagnose and fix I am using armbian-jessie-server, kernel 3.4.113, jessie 5.23. Hello, I've recently purchased an Orange Pi Zero and have Armbian 5.25 (Linux version 3.4.113-sun8i). I was struggling to make SPH0645 I2S microphone to work with H3 mainline kernel (4.14.87), on NanoPi Neo Core. After weeks of distress, I finally made it work! Maybe some will find it useful. Here's what I did: 1- In file sound/soc/sunxi/sun4i-i2s.c, change the following line { SUN8I_I2S_RX_CHAN_SEL_REG, 0x00000000 } to { SUN8I_I2S_RX_CHAN_SEL_REG, 0x00001000 } You may have to download the linux-source package for your kernel version, or you can build your own kernel. It's weird that in legacy kernel, this register was assigned 0x00001000 by default (and the mic worked easily on that kernel). Not sure why it's changed. I'm not …

Because today I did get my Black-Friday NanoPi Neo2 LTS 1GB I swapped my old Neo2 against this new 1Gb LTS-version. After assembling the new LTS to the fresh heatsink I did a testdrive and all went fine (network etc). So I did try to put the faceplate back on the case but it doenst fit. At the time when I did buy the case there was also a faceplate for the normal H3 Neo delivered. So for the new LTS Neo2 I had to use the faceplate for the H3-Neo, because the new LTS Neo2 has the USB-Port aligned like the H3-Neo . The old Neo2 has his USB-Port (on the main Neo2-PCB) a bit shifted against the Network-port. Also the new LTS …

It is possible to drag backlight control slider to far left position and this completely dims the screen's backlight. This might cause a lot of trouble, if backlight levels get saved by systemd service, as it will persist across reboots and will require you to shine a flashlight on a screen to actually see something and turn backlight back on.

I'm running an OrangePi One. Having installed Armbian a while ago and gone through all the updates, I was wondering if there is any way to determine what equivalent release my installations are at. I noticed that 5.20 is out and some folks are talking about 5.21. I'm running Jessie. Also, for me to use a more recent version of Debian, I'm guessing I would have to build the image myself? Is that due to shortcomings in the 4.x kernels on the H3 platform? I've done some digging and it seems like many (most) things are working right on the 4.x kernels? Thank you James

Hi everyone. I heard Armbian was the to-go distribution for the Nanopi NEO Air. I've got a bunch of these boards where I'd like to use the built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability in a small form factor for a project. I don't need video or audio or other functionality. I see a legacy kernel "stable build" and a mainline kernel "experimental" build. For the experimental build it lists the following known problems: No Mali drivers No hardware accelerated video decoding schedutil CPU governor may cause clicks and pops on audio output – change(d) to ondemand to work around this issue This sounds fine with me. I need no video, and…

Hi gang. I am having a consistent problem changing the board over boot from the SD with the system on any kind of USB attached drive. The drive I want to put it on is a 1t ssb, which otherwise formats fine, over and over again, burns images on it fine (though rpi doesn't like how much power it grabs). But I duplicated the problem with a formatted SD card in a reader in the USB port as well. The same error message appeared. Now I have to say that I have read this post here: to see if there was anything unique to the H3 to accomplish this, but Igor said there to just follow the simple directions at Getting Started, which though dated, still work close…

Hi. I'm trying to boot my Cubietruck with Armbian_20.05.1_Cubietruck_focal_current_5.4.43_desktop image, but it can not complete boot process. It is able to connect to wired network, I'm able to ping it, but SSH never becomes up and desktop environment is not started. Previous 20.02buster and bionic images worked fine. Is it some known issue?

Hi, back a again for a question. Got an 7" LCD Display connected to my pcDuino with Armbian (Kernel 4.x) and it displays nearly fine on HDMI. First i altered display resolution in /boot(boot.cmd) but i still got "cutted sides" of the display... On my Raspberry with Raspbian i had to alter /boot/config.txt with the foloowing content: # Pollin 7 Zoll Display hdmi_force_hotplug=1 framebuffer_width=1024 framebuffer_height=600 framebuffer_depth=24 hdmi_group=2 hdmi_mode=87 hdmi_cvt=1024 600 60 3 0 0 0 # Pollin Display Ende Where can i do that similar with armbian, think i have to change hdmi_group and hdmi_mode like i did with the raspberry, so that the LCD …

Hi, In my OPi PC, the image "Armbian_5.20_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112" resolves .local hosts well, e.g. ` ping rpi1.local ` but the image "Armbian_5.20_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop" does not, it gives 'ping: unknown host rpi1.local', and it's quite odd, because an ` avahi-resolve -n rpi1.local ` works... uname -a Linux orangepipc 3.4.112-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Sun Oct 23 16:06:55 CEST 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux Any ideas? I have a Orange PI PC Plus that isn't booting either from sd or emmc. I had really messed up some configuration, so I erased emmc. After I erased EMMC, I started to get this boot screen. https://photos.app.goo.gl/EbJX43eSATyqTEau8 If I insert a sd card in with the latest Armbian, I get no boot screen, or activity at all. In fact, even if I format the card, and insert it into the OP+ it gets no boot activity. It is only after that I remove the card that it can then boot from usb flash. I ended up writing the latest orangepiplus image to a usb flash drive, and am able to get it to boot via a flash drive. I did backup my microsd install a …

Hi to All, Today I try to re-build Armbian (with legacy kernel 3.4 and Debian Jessie) customized by me a week ago and get into trouble to buld and boot it. I am fixing also: BOOTBRANCH=v2015.10 REVISION="5.05" At build process I see that kernel was migrated from version 3.4.110 to 3.4.111 but it builds with no problems. ARMBIAN 5.41 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.34-sunxi, Orange Pi Zero board. Very limited Debian installed, wifi doesn't work. No help, wi-fi didn't work, nothing about xradio or wifi in dmesg. I figured out that there was no drivers (modules) for wifi. Hello, I have 2 Orange Pi Zero boards, one with 256MB RAM and one with 512MB RAM. I tried running both: Armbian_5.25_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113.img and Armbian_5.24.170110_Orangepizero_Ubuntu_xenial_4.9.0.img, but the same thing happens. When I power on the OPZ, a few seconds later the Red LED starts blinking and doesn't stop... The issue is present on both boards. Any suggestions?

I want to understand the feasibility of installing Armbain on a board that is currently Tina Linux. The board has an Allwinner R528 processor and an emmc . The R528 is not a well known Allwinner processor but it is essentially a D1 with two Arm-a7 processors instead of a RISCV processor. It also is a essentially the same processor as a T113-s3 but in a different physical package. I see the mangopi-mq and the nehza have the D1, but I'm not sure it helps. I have a full dts file (3000+ lines) for this board. But what I am failing to get a grasp of is: Given that I that I have a complete dts file, what is the work flow to get Armbian…

Hello, The NanoPi Neo 2 has an H5 SoC. When I look at the Linux mainlining effort chart at Sunxi, I see that Ethernet support for the H5 only came in the 4.15 kernel. But the kernel in the Armbian downloads for the NanoPi Neo 2 only have the 4.14.y kernel. So can one expect the GbE to work, on a NanoPi Neo 2, with the current Armbian (Bionic or Stretch)? Maybe you already backport the 4.15 Ethernet-related code (for the H5) into that 4.14.y kernel?

I'm trying to build an A2DP server from either OPi Lite or Zero (whichever seems easier). As neither board has BT built-in I'm planning on using some cheap USB BT dongle. Web stores are filled with dongles, but info about their compatibility with Linux (and especially Armbian's legacy kernel) is not that readily available. Has anyone found a dongle that "just works" with OPi Lite or Zero? If yes, care to share e.g. Ali Express link or similar?

Hi, I used to run a RPi3 as a VPN and DNS-Server (PiHole) and it worked like a charm. Since the RPI3 is a bit oversized for this work I bought a NanoPi Neo 512MB and installed armbian Ubuntu 4.9.x, but I have some issues with it: - eth0 is only connected by 100/half duplex. I can set it manually to full duplex with autoneg off, but after a few secondes it falls back to 10(!) half duplex. with autoneg on it comes back to 100 half duplex (the amber led is off; cable and switch are ok) - the MAC-Adress is changing every reboot. I have to fix it manually - I can set up Pihole to use the Nanopi as a DNS-Server and it works well in the LAN, until I connect over openVP…
