I run a cubietruck with armbian jessie/legacy-kernel. I used it as a owncloud- and tvheadend-server. For the tvheadend-server i use 2 DVB-S2-USB-devices (TeVii S660 USB). I had problems woith one of them and want to replace one of them with a Technotrend TT-connect S2-4600. I could not compile the needed driver, so I tried to use the vanilla-kernel, because the newer kernel has support for this DVB-card. I could use the Technotrend-device with vanilla. But both devices stutters when displaying or recording a stream. Is this a known problem? When switching back to legacy, the old Tevii-device runs smooth again, but there is no support for Technotrend. What can I d…

  4. Hi Igor and all, after running armbian on my A20 lime2 for a long time, I decided to switch to armbian on my A10 lime, too (from jessie with a eewiki-based self-compiled kernel). So far it works as perfect as the A20, but there are two small and funny things with the Armbian_5.00_Lime-a10_Debian_jessie_3.4.110.zip image I used: After login the nice armbian banner stated that my A10 lime is a cubieboard . I have a cubieboard, too. So I double checked... The problem is located in /etc/init.d/armhwinfo, There all "sun4i" boards are simply "Cubieboard". I had to adapt the LED check which is used to detect Lime and Lime2 a bit and added the Lime A10. I ch…

Hi, I try to play with Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y on Orange Pi Zero and need for my idea sf funktion (SPI) and i2c in u-boot terminal. I've build mainline U-Boot but the files in /boot directory from armbian looks so "strange". There is any description how to replace the files or make changes. Thanks for help. P.S. 7. There appears to be a problem or incompatibility with the new 2018.05 u-boot configuration and/or implementation and the Armbian sunxi-next startup scripts (both in the current master branch). The "fdt" command processing doesn't appear to properly expand local environment variables before trying to execute them (?). 12. Hi, I built a fresh Armbian Image from scratch (using Armbian build system). After that I used Etcher to burn .img file to SD card. Everything works great, but U-Boot shows, that there is no environment. I used saveenv and fixed a problem. Then I installed Armbian into internal memory (eMMC), same message about environment, I tried fix it same way, using saveenv, but I get only an error message and infinite loop. Screenshot attached. I noticed a change in u-boot and the newer Armbian releases have Ethernet-Support in u-boot. So my basic idea is to not just copy the kernel files but also update u-boot via dd command. I suppose there are at least 3 regions in the image: 1. the partition table which I don't want to change. 2. the u-boot configuration which I'd like to keep. 3. the u-boot runtime. So for #2 and #3 I'll need an image file. I'm trying to set-up a build environment f…

  36. Hello. For some reason, UART1 does not work for transmission, only for reception. The transmitter pin itself is definitely working, I checked by switching this pin to output mode, and then switching it to a high/low logical level, everything works properly, the level on the Pin changes. How I check the UART itself: I installed picocom, shorted the TX and RX pins, and I’m trying to see what I’m sending. For UART2 this method works as it should, but UART1 only works for reception. I realized this when I opened the TX and RX, and was able to receive incoming data sent through the USB-UART converter.

Hi folks, I'd like to build a simple rs485 interface onto an A20-OLinuxino-Micro board. Therefore I was looking into utilizing one of the UARTs (6 or 7) on EXT1 or EXT2, add an external driver chip to it and 'fork' the according kernel module to implement support for switching send/receive with the RTS line. While that seemed to be an easy approach, I already got stuck with the basics. :-( dmesg shows me [ 2.822776] printk: console [ttyS0] disabled [ 2.842962] 1c28000.serial: ttyS0 at MMIO 0x1c28000 (irq = 53, base_baud = 1500000) is a U6_16550A [ 2.843045] printk: console [ttyS0] enabled [ 2.866650] 1c29800.serial: t…

Hello, I have problems with the armbian distributions on my orange pi zero 3 because I can't even use chatgpt to activate the sound card on the expansion board that comes as an accessory for the orange pi zero 3. I'm referring to the board that has two USB outputs and an audio jack port that I think is also a video port, but I can't get sound out of that port, only sound comes out of the HDMI port. It's a real mystery since there's no problem with the other distributions, but with armbian I can't get that audio output port to work. If you can help me please, I've tried a number of things and I can't get it to work.

  85. Let's say I'm deploying hundreds of warehoused devices employing an H5-based Orange Pi Zero Plus, and I need a reliable distinct identifier for each. In another application we're using the MAC address, but that seems not to be EEPROM-ed on the OPiZ+. So, okay, SOC Unique ID has been mentioned elsewhere (MAC generation on the OPiZ+), but where is it available? cat /proc/cpuinfo does not include "Serial". lshw has a "serial" but I'm not sure that's reliable (I've got a Beaglebone that doesn't show one - and it says /proc/cpuinfo Serial: 00000000). So what's a good low-cost (i.e. not by launching Perl scripts) way to obtain the unique CPU identifie…

Since the CT (the A20 one, not the CT+) has been moved to CSC status, I've build a 22.04/jammy minimal image for my CT, and I figured I might as well share it with you. The only changes to "pure" armbian are some power management debug options in the kernel. https://github.com/IGNNE/cubietruck-armbian-unofficial/releases/tag/22.04-2022-09-09 SHA256 of zip file: 9d0028a9f5c6258a739f52f447bf4400d20fec52358f5006ae8a26b602acdfc0

  89. Hi, I updated my image for BananPi from v5.00 (Wheezy) to the latest one (v5.16). Everything works fine, but if I run "apt-get upgrade" I get the message that the package "linux-whezzy-root-bananapi" is reserved (will not be installed). hardware-info says 6 packages to update, but I can't... Is this correct? Do I need this package to be on the latest version? What to do? Thanks. Steffen

  93. Morning all, First post here - just got my oPi PC 1.2 with the AllWinner HW chip set up yesterday... Running Jessie headless 5.10, updated to latest (afair, 5.112?). Used the Wget command to try and upgrade the kernal, the blue dos-like UI came up, it checked a few things, then fell down to command prompt, with "Error - unsupported HW". Any thoughts or fixes for this? THX

  95. Hey guys, I was wondering why the Browsers doesnt support H/W Acceleration, now i found out its because the Mali Driver is outdated. I installed also Chromium and forced it to use the GPU, well at least it trys but i got a bunch of errors. Is there a way to add a new Driver? Tried also to compile it myself but i was never that deep into linux and never had to compile drivers, here are the sources: http://malideveloper.arm.com/resources/drivers/open-source-mali-utgard-gpu-linux-kernel-drivers/ I think the current Kernel uses a horrible outdated r3p0 Version and a new one is r7p0, at least r4p0 is needed which should work with Chromium and finally add H/W Accelerat…

Hi, Since recent I have an issue that my Orangepi doesn't start anymore. My microSD is fine (did a full diskcheck using badblocks on ubuntu), en I can access all the files without issues. However, it doesn't want to boot. Every time I try to boot it (Orangepi pc), it gives the first black screen until starting kernel, and then gets stuck on the blinking underscore. For information: I have an Orangepi PC and Armbian 5.32 with mainline kernel. Now, this happened after I did an apt-get upgrade (incl. kernel upgrade) from 5.30 to 5.32, and then didn't reboot, but my orangepi had a short power interruption. After this it didn't want to start…
