Hi, after the update from Armbian 5.23 to 5.25 on a Banana Pi M2+ board, the MAC address and CPU serial number have changed. This can be reproduced by just updating the u-boot package on Armbian 5.23: # ifconfig | grep HWaddr eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr da:c7:a0:49:24:d6 # grep Serial /proc/cpuinfo Serial : 2435501d0a0e4800004d # dpkg -i linux-u-boot-bananapim2plus_5.25_armhf.deb # reboot # ifconfig | grep HWaddr eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 3a:89:a1:23:98:a6 # grep Serial /proc/cpuinfo Serial : 24005035871c481d0a0e Does anyone know the reason for this? Did u-boot change the way these numbers are generated? …

Following the instructions from the download page for the Lime2-eMMC we tried to apply the commands listed, but it looks that something is garbled here source is not a command AFAIK and if I use it as an apt-get option the system complaints about missing entries in sources. What is the correct way?

hello dear all, good day dear Armbian-experts recently i have managed to get Armbian up and running on a Banana Pi. I was very very glad. now i am digging deeper into the system and try to learn all the necessary things. regarding another system: on orange pi -pc i want to install armbian - from this page https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ i fetch Armbian Stretch mainline kernel 4.14.y Server or light desktop usage scenarios. Stable question: can i upgrade after the installation the system to the newest kernel... ?!? Is this possible?

Hi Forum, My CT with "Armbian_5.14_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_4.6.2" image fails to complete apt-get upgrade and dist-upgrade. I haven't installed or removed any package, simply used the original image as it is. It starts the process, gets the packages, unpacks, starts setting them up and hangs at compiling the new headers. I left it working a full night but found with doing nothing. No cpu or disk activity was seen. Has anyone seen this before? Any idea? Thanks, T

Thank you for reading this: Mission:upgrade a remote cubietruck without bricking it over ssh from WAN. QuestionIs there some kind of tutorial on how to upgrade from 14.04 LTS to 16.04 LTS? I didn't find it yet. By the way the desktop version is quite stable. Great job! Question2What I am looking for though is, how do I remove the x-server? I thought I could use the raspberry pi teamviewer version, but that didn't work out due to some protocol problem. Therefor I could use all the RAM for docker/apache/mariadb Thank you! With kind regards Hans

Hi, I've been running armbian (Debian Jessie) on my Cubietruck successfully for a while now, its mainly just an mpd server. It runs as a headless server and I use the optical spdif connection, ethernet (although I used to use the wireless). I have my root partition on a 2.5" hdd. I currently have: linux-image-3.4.106-cubieboard linux-headers-3.4.106-cubieboard linux-firmware-image-3.4.106-cubieboard I've seen the page http://www.armbian.com/kernel/ and added the repository as instructed. I really just want to confirm if you think I'll run into any trouble with spdif and ethernet if I upgrade to mainline kernel. My understanding is that I …

Hi! great forum, great distros! thanks Igor! I installed Debian Wheezy on Cubieboard A10, using for NAS, EmonCMS, webcams. Working really good. I have Armbian 4.5 Jessy Legacy 3.4.109 running in the internal NAND and tried to do apt-get update+upgrade what bricked the device. As precaution I setup an identical system on a CubieBoard 2, where the upgrade went fine. After two days of testing on this test board, I tried it the same way on my real server but it failed. The board is not completely bricked, but network is not working anymore which limits my access dramatically. This is what I did and the output during upgrade: root@Cube# uname -a Linux Cube 3.4.109-sun7i #5 SMP PREEMPT Wed Oct 14 20:33:00 CEST 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux root@Cube# apt-get update Get:1 http://security.debian.orgjessie/updates InRele…

Hi all, I've been using a banana pi as a home server since forever. It's currently running bananian with a legacy kernel. I want to use docker to make it cleaner to use so mainline is needed. My banana pi is running off a 256Go SSD (SATA) and connected through a Gigabit Switch (that's why I did not find many replacement over the years, both low power, SATA and Gigabits are hard to find even with Hardkernel stuff). So first what's running on my server now : * nzbget * nfs server * nginx as reverse proxy * nginx + php * MQTT server (Mosquitto) * MQTT relay server (with mqttwarn) * homemade domotic stuff For all of this, I guess docker will be o…

Hello, actually it was not the first time the upgrade failed on this board: - upgrade 5.11 to 5.15 -> returned successfull - reboot - at boot system can not find file: sun6i-a31s-bananapi-m2.dtb (file sun6i-a31s-sinovoip-bpi-m2.dtb for BPi M2 is available) - fixed it by linking to the existing device tree blob sun6i-a31s-sinovoip-bpi-m2.dtb - reboot again - no network (my /etc/network/interfaces has been set to armbian default, same as /etc/network/interfaces.default, this happened the first time) fixed it again by setting the correct content I don't know if the upgrade process is the problem or if there is something messed up on my board... Now ev…

I have a rtl2838 based DVB-T dongle which was working beautifully under 3.4.112 on my cubietruck. I upgraded a couple of days ago and now I don't get any video data, although the dongle is still recognised. I see 113 includes a fat patch to the rtl2832 driver. Is there some way I can back that out, or a safe way to go back to 112?

I've upgraded to 5.20 from 5.17 and I've had to modify my /boot/bin/micro.bin to activate the VGA output. After Upgraded the board didn't reactivate the VGA, and I've to do it manually. Maybe some warning in the changelog will be an help to those have to do such modifications. The upgrade process copied the bin dir to bin.old. I have to apply "sudo apt-get upgrade" twice as the first run complain about come conflicting files and abort the upgrade, the second run did the job. I'm running legacy debian Jessie image and upgraded from 5.17 to 5.20. Now it seem to work well.

Hi, after upgrading my Cubietruck it failed to boot from SSD. I suspect this has something to do with the causes discussed here: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/690-upgrade-error-with-armbian-500-on-cubieboard2-running-from-nand/?hl=boot#entry5649 and / or a proper installation of the 'board support packages'. I got the same failure message as mentioned above: FEHLER: unable to make backup link of `./boot/bin/cubieboard.bin' before installing new version: Operation not permitted Directory /boot from nand1 was mounted during upgrade. I thought the solution would be to boot from SD to SSD an fix the issues. So I changed boot.cmd accordingly …

Hi all, First post here. I have been running Armbian on my original Bananapi Pro for a long while now, and thought that it's time to upgrade from Bullseye to Bookworm finally. There were some complications with UsrMerge that I had to resolve manually (I think some boot files from the original Buster installation were both in /lib and /usr/lib), but apart from that the upgrade appears to have worked: All userspace stuff is on Bookworm. # lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Debian Description: Armbian 24.5.0-trunk.530 bookworm Release: 12 Codename: bookworm However, the kernel seems to be stuck on 5.15…

Hi, Just a quick question as Debian Stretch has been out for a while now: Will there be an official upgrade of ARMBIAN for the Cubietruck (Cubieboard 3) at some point or is there a simple doc on how to upgrade the distribution? I run ARMBIAN with the legacy kernel (3.4.113-sun7i). Everything required for the system boot is in the NAND while the root and /home partitions are on the sdd. Would it be possible to upgrade to Stretch just by replacing the version name in the sources.list file? If there won't be any automated ARMBIAN upgrades to Stretch for this device. Would you recommend using the official Debian distribution (and bo…

Hi, when I connect my external HDD - an Icy Box IB-RD2253-U31 (http://www.raidsonic.de/products/external_cases/soho_raid/index_en.php?we_objectID=3239) - to my Bananapi M1, running ARMBIAN 5.31 (stable Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.11.6-sunxi) the hard disk is not found. This is regardless of the HDD setup chosen, at least I tried with the two disks inside configured as JBOD as well as RAID1. After connecting the USB HDD, dmesg doesnt show any output, lsblk doesnt show it. Is there anything I can do about it to get it working, is it a firmware issue?

Igor, Firstly, many thanks for some fantastic work.... I use your images for Audio streaming via USB. I have a cambridge Audio DAC sitting on the USB port and it works 99% flawlessly, even at 192k/24bit with only the occasional pop etc. I've noticed though that after a while, the "server" starts to have problems and the browsing of server stops working, with unused devices disappearing. A reboot is the only way to resolve. I've also noticed a possible memory leak and with a bit of googling, I see there's a problem with.. "Kernels versions 2.6.25 through 2.6.28.8 have a bug in USB EHCI controller driver that leads to large memory leaks with isochronous devices like …

I'm trying to build an A2DP server from either OPi Lite or Zero (whichever seems easier). As neither board has BT built-in I'm planning on using some cheap USB BT dongle. Web stores are filled with dongles, but info about their compatibility with Linux (and especially Armbian's legacy kernel) is not that readily available. Has anyone found a dongle that "just works" with OPi Lite or Zero? If yes, care to share e.g. Ali Express link or similar?

Hey guys, first off, I'll make no bones about it... I'm an absolute noob. But I wanna learn! So I have the OPi PC and I purchased this 7" HDMI USB touch screen Now, I've plugged it all in and the screen worked fine right out of the box but the touch did not. I've verified it's working by plugging it into my desktop and everything worked great. I can only assume that it's not working due to a lack of drivers. The screen came with a CD that contained the screen drivers but not the touch drivers. It also came with a handful of RPi distros with the drivers preinstalled. But nothing for OPi Can anyone offer some suggestions?

I'm using latest armbian with kernel 4.3.3 and got some problem: I have some usb-drives that should be mounted at boot via fstab. But sometimes they are not mounted at boot, after restart they mount normally. Never had problems with same fstab, only with kernel 4.3.3 it sometimes failed to mount. Seen same behaviour with bananian with 4.3-kernel, so maybe it has to do something with this kernel? Maybe some usb modules didn't load before mounting fstab? But i'm linux noob, so i dont know what i can do... Some suggestions?

Hi guys, I'm trying to solve a very specific problem in our company and after reading several tutorials I'm still not sure, how to achieve my goal. It would nice, if anyone can share his code or help me, however I will also to try to finish it and post the solution here. Thanks to size of our plant this isn't very good solution. Idea is to take Orange Pi One and connect it to the machine through OTG port, therefore it will act as Flashdrive. Th…

Hi, I was trying to use OrangePi One to add a filter to my USB camera, so that I can apply some image processing to the original input image. The original project uses raspberrypi: https://github.com/likeablob/rpi-wfh-webcam It captures the image from a USB Camera, then applys some image processing on Raspberry Pi. Lastly, it creates a virtual camera that sends the output image to the PC. I would like to achieve the same effect using OrangePi One (Armbian), and the only problem left is to simulate a virtual camera using the USB Gadget. What I tried: $ sudo modprobe g_webcam musb-hdrc.4.aut…

Hi, I am running the latest Armbian stable headless build with legacy kernel for a few weeks now without issue (tvheadend, cups, sane, shairplay-sync, pi-hole). So when I try to run the Buster image for Olinuxino64, after the initial U-Boot screen it spends some excessive time with lines Starting version 241 (about a minute or two) Begin: Running /scripts/local-premount ... Scanning for Brtfs filesystems. done. (many minutes. Does it have anything to do with the fact I have some old data on the on-board eMMC?) These appear on the splash screen with armbian logo via HDMI, not on the serial console. When it finally boots, USB keyboard is not working (nor USB in general, dmesg shows nothing when i try to plug/unplug various devices) and the system is very unstable... My last attempt was to use the Pi+2E as a data concentrator, connecting three different OPIZ on the independent USB channels, creating ethernet over USB links ... this have been my week's nightmare. By now these are my findings (could change with more information at hand). 1) The Pi+2E enables 4 different usb ports. The usb0 is the OTG microUSB port, and the usb1, usb2 and usb3 are the other exposed type A USB ports. 2) The usb0 has a particular MAC Address and…

I've been using the Armbian R1 image (Armbian_20.02.1_Nanopi-r1_buster_current_5.4.20.7z) on the NanoPi R1S with good success. In particular, the USB host port worked perfectly, with no changes required. I thought it was probably about time to upgrade to a newer kernel, so I downloaded Armbian_21.02.1_Nanopi-r1_focal_current_5.10.12.img, flashed it to an SD card, and booted. However, plugging in an external USB device results in absolutely zero shoing up in `dmesg -w`. I tried a USB-UART (STM32-based ACM), USB3 hub, USB 3 Mass Storage (Kingston 16GB), and a Playstation 3 Eye, without any entries in dmesg. To do some debugging, I also downloaded Arm…

I have been trying to get USB OTG to work for the past few days, but have not succeeded. I have enabled all of the appropriate kernel settings according to this. I modprobed sunxi and g_ether, but my laptop did not detect the Orange Pi (no change in lsusb). My laptop runs Arch Linux, if that matters (the image was built on a Xenial VM though). There is no dmesg output about this, so I do not know what I did wrong. The reason I need the dev kernel is because I am using docker.

Hello, I have decided to try out Ubuntu 16.04 legacy on my original banana pi for the first time and to my surprise the first problem I noticed is that the usb ports weren't working at all. I tried two keyboards which are working fine on all my Linux computers all running on mint 18.3 (logiItech k360, and insignia nsc5011-c) they are both wireless keyboard + mouse combos they did not work at all on the banana. I previously had bananian on it prior to today and all usb ports were working fine as I was able to connect external usb hard drives to it. I decided to connect the banana to my LAN and ssh to it from my laptop, did an apt update…

USB-touchscreen doesn't work with Cubietruck 3.4.113. The touchscreen well works with versions 4.9.xxx, but doesn't work with 3.4.xxx. I connected the monitor 1920*1080 and a touchscreen to Cubietruck. Cubietruck smartly works in video browse mode, but the mouse and the keypad aren't always convenient for control. Especially at night, too loud clicks. I pasted a touchscreen on the monitor. It works with versions 4.xxx, but video doesn't work. And with versions 3.xxx on the contrary. What I should make that the touchscreen worked with version 3.4.113?

Hi All, I am working on project using Qt(IDE), C++(language) and opencv libraries. The board I am using is Olimex Olinux A64. Hi team, I am trying to get a voltage drop (3.3V to about 0V) detected on a GPIO pin on my OrangePi Zero running Armbian buster 20.02.1 with Linux 5.4.31-sunxi. I have another OrangePi Zero on which I have already managed to install I2C OLED screen, and the i2cdetect was working, and so on... For this one, I got a problem with the gpio group not existing. As I tried to install OPi.GPIO, I got usermod: group 'gpio' does not exist It's an Armbian version that I downloaded yesterday, and upgraded today with armbian-config. So... I am trying to use an Iono Pi Board from SFERA Labs on an OrangePI PC Plus. https://www.sferalabs.cc/product/iono-pi-board/ I was able to get i2C working so that I could connect to some devices like a temp sensor and accelerometer. Greetings - I'm trying to use the UART2 port (Connector J11 pins 1 and 2) and I'm not having much luck with Armbian 5.0 Vanilla. There are /dev/ttyS0-7 listed, but I get nothing from them (save ttyS0 which is the main console and in use by getty). Hey. I'm trying to install octoprint on my Opi Zero +2, using the latest armbian image I found here on the site. Installation works fine, and I get the web interface up and running no problem. But I have connected power to the board on the gpio pins, and want to use the mini-usb to connect to the 3d printer. I have enabled usbhost0-3 in the hardware in armbian-config, but still it seems the printer cannot be reached. I read some older posts regarding other boards, where the solution seemed to be recompiling. Is this a necessity, and if so, could someone please point me to a walkthrough? Regards Anders

The system v26.11 rolling for Orange Pi PC Plus running Armbian Linux 6.18.53-current-sunxi cannot boot from eMMC on the Orange Pi PC Plus. The bootloader is looking for an old partition on /dev/mmcblk0p1, whereas the current partition of emmc is identified differently - as /dev/mmcblk2p1. Therefore, it is necessary to use a bootloader from an SD card, which specifies the path to the eMMC partition for subsequent operation.
