Hi All! I had the same problem with several different kind of wifi SoC-s on an R1 board, with different operating systems: wifi is slow and unreliable in AP mode. Both with integrated RTL8192CU, an external RTL8192EU, RT3570 and RT5370, various Atheros chipset based dongles - all of them is very slow. I had no any problem on single-eth BananaPi board, but i got less than 2mbit up/download speed on a 30mbit+ network... I tried several OpenWrt versions (official 1,2,3 and latest trunk), now i tested Igor's ubuntu with the same result: slow and lagging Do You have same experience? Or is it working fast? Any idea? Best regards, Peter

Hello everyone, I am new to the world of Orange Pi 3 LTS 1.4 and Armbian. I have very recently installed this os on my Orange, it turns out to work almost everything correctly except Wifi and bluetooth. It is really important for me to get Wifi working for various projects I have in mind and I find armbian very reliable and supported. When I try to connect the Network Manager interface returns: On the net I found various discussions about this but no real solution. Does this happen to you as well? It seems not to recognize the wifi chip. Below is the armbianmonitor: https://paste.armbian.com/iteheqokov …

Hello, I try to get WiFi P2P working on the Nano Pi Neo Air with a 4.x mainline kernel and so I tried the latest available nightly build "Armbian_5.24.170118_Nanopiair_Ubuntu_xenial_4.9.4.img" but I have problems to establish a connection. Does anybody have WiFi P2P working on the Nano PI Neo Air? The problem seems be a problem with the P2P_CLIENT interface creation at the brcmfmac driver. My P2P test peer is a Nexus 5 phone and I'am able to see the peer device using wpa_cli p2p_peers. But when I try to connect I get following driver error messages at the Kernel Log. [ 8.085540] brcmfmac: brcmf_c_preinit_dcmds: Firmware version = wl0: Jun 6 2014 14:50:…

Hi I've downloaded v5.38 firmware for my Cubietruck device and replaced on an older version due to my problem with new updates. Etcher was my tool for writing image on SD card and i have cleared SD card before writing new image. When new image installed and device booted up, but WiFi is not working and WiFi module is neither listed in lsmodule output nor module list file. It seems that WiFi driver is not installed or WiFi hardware is not detected. Is there any way to fix this issue? @Igor

Hi all, I was struggling to have a stable Wifi connection on my new Orange Pi Primes, and believe I found a solution, so I thought it's nice to share it Symptoms: Wifi would connect right after reboot, but would disappear if Orange Pi Prime was idle for about 30min. The only way to reactivate would be to either pull the cable out (as there are no buttons yet), or to login via ethernet, perform ifconfig down && if config up. I didn't liked either of the options, so I decided to investigate. My log was full of: [89201.577208] RTL8723BS: nolinked power save enter [89201.967063] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is n…

Hello I have an issue with my wifi, it's not reliable. There is no problem with my laptop, or any other devices on my network, but my NanoPi Neo is disconneted after a few hours. It can stay alive for an half a day, and after it become unreachable. As I have no other connection to my NanoPi it's a bit hard to establish what appens. But if I unplug the USB Wifi dungle, and replugged it the link come back. Doing a ping to the NanoPi, I see regular "Request timeout for icmp_seq" - every 20, 50 or 100 request, it depends - and sometime the request time is abnormally huge: serveral seconds. The config has bee done with nmtui, the…

I am using Orange Pi Zero Plus(http://www.orangepi.org/OrangePiZeroPlus/), but there's no armbian for it. I download armbian for Orange Pi PC2(here) and it works! However, PC2 does not have on-board wifi, so my zero plus cannot find a wlan device. The onboard wifi of zero plus is Realtek RTL8189FTV, and the driver source seems to be this I compile it on my orange pi and add "modprobe mac80211" before "insmod", it is loaded but there is still no wlan0 device So what should I do to enable wifi?

Hello all. I'm having a banana Pi and two days ago I had bananian OS on it. Now after searching online I decided to install armbian because it seems the most updated and more user-friendly one. One of the things that I want to do with my Pi, is to create an AP and connect other devices to it. So I read the documentation that is online from armbian site that refers on A. How to build a wireless driver? B. How to set wireless access point? Started with the A. and following all the steps, I realized that the 8192cu.ko module was already installed and loaded because when I tried to load it with insmod command it returned m…

After about 10-20 hours of normal work the IP address on USB wifi adapter disappears. Ethernet adapter connected to the same router works well at the same time. System diagnosis information is collected when IP address is missing. After re-plug USB-adapter into the same USB port or reboot, the IP address appears back. Board: Orange PI PC, WIFI: EDUP dual-band on 8811CU chip, built-in drivers Image: 20.11.3 focal Router: Keenetic Ultra Previously I used built-in wifi of Orange PI+ and I didn't have similar problem. Is the problem specific to the WIFI adapter?

Hi there, Recently you helped me to setup a WiFI AP on Armbian and a bananapim2p board: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/2395-access-point-mode-with-ap6212-on-armbian-521/ The current problem I am facing: the dhd module on armbian 5.25 does not on my bananapim2p boards. To be precise: I have one bananapi m2p where the dhd module loads perfectly on armbian 5.25, I created an image of this board's emmc and flashed the emmc of two different m2p boards. The dhd config file looks like: cat /etc/modprobe.d$ cat /etc/modprobe.d/dhd.conf options dhd op_mode=2 firmware_path=/lib/firmware/ap6212/fw_bcm43438a0_apsta.bin With the modprobe configuration the m2p board…

I received my Pi Pc plus today which is strange because I thought I ordered the Pi pc. I downloaded the armbian Jessie desktop and used 7zip to extract it to the sd card. It will not load off the card. It would not load raspbian for the raspberry Pi. What it is doing is loading android whether the sd card is inserted or not. Can anyone offer suggestions to try? OS downloaded from here: http://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc/ It has emmc I can't even make some of the things work on android.??

Hi all, The plot thickens. This is only an issue when eth0 is given an IPv6 address by my home router. If i disable IPv6 at home my problem goes away. I am having some issues getting wireguard to play the game. I have a fresh Armbian Focal 22.02 install on a NanoPi Neo. The problem is that the wirguard interface comes up, then traffic doesn't flow., not even to the other side of the wireguard link (10.66.0.1). tcpdmping on the other side of the connection shows no packets at all coming into the far ends 51820. Stopping wireguard on both sides and using netcat via UDP and TCP I can see the traffic I expect. I can also use my Android mobile phone and…

I have been searching the net trying to find out how to set up the WiFi interface on an Orange Pi or a Raspberry Pi 3B as an access point. I have to have an access point for a project I have in hand. I found the instructions by Lim Han Yang but they just failed entirely on two out of three candidate boards with the third, an Orange Pi PC Plus, producing a point that is visible to an Android tablet but refused to authenticate. I tried the create_ap procedure from github but that crashed on all three boards when dnsmasq hung. I tried ‘armbian_config’ on the Orange Pi PC Plus which was running the appropriate Armbian image. That didn’t do anything usable. Reasonin…

I'm new to cubietruck and linux as well. I used the default build for CT i.e. 3.4.107. The wlan0 was working fine. It was using bcmdhd module for wireless. But I had to move the latest version 4.0.5 for the availabilty of sctp module which was not available in 3.4.107. In 4.0.5, the wireless interface is not being detected and it has brcmfmac for wireless i think. Is there a way to implement the sctp in 3.4.107 or make the wireless work in 4.0.5 ? please advise. best regards, Arun

Hi, 1st of all, thanks for the excellent job on Armbian so far, really feels very solid compared to most other distros. Here is my little problem: Installed Armbian_5.14_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop Realtek RTL 8188 plugged in into any USB port Followed Rudolfos tutorial Reboot - wireless works flawlessly Update via apt-get update/upgrade --> 8188 still recognized, but board locks up or reboots when I try to connect to an AP I am right now preventing updates to 5.14 as per attachement, but this is obviously not a preferred solution. The driver used is the 8192cu,the device ID is 0bda: 8176 Realtek 8188cus. Any directions? Best, -Thomas

I've installed this library on an Orange Pi PC Plus running 'Armbian 5.31 stable Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i' with all updates and I would like to use wiringPiI2C but it doesn't work with either /dev/i2c-0 or /dev/i2c-1. My USB storage CRO device shows no output at all when I attempt a write to an I2C device on connector pins 3 and 5 (BCM pins 2 & 3). the 'gpio' app and 'blink' example apps that come with the library wiggles these and other pins as outputs, no trouble at all. I'm porting a library that interfaces to a DS3232 or DS3231 real-time-clock chip from Arduino and have used the initialisation sequence from the example in the WiringOP librar…

At the moment it seems that python library to manage the gpio is working well I'm trying with wiringPi with C++ under netbeans but it doesn't work . The compiler is the g++ and other parameters are ok ...I think But how to use this package with C/C++ ? But when I add this line of code wiringPiSetup () ; I get two errors .Into the header file this function is declared as external . I think there is a conflict because my project is C++ but the library is in C and then mistake when compile . Using the terminal I type make blink and then ./blin…

Hi, After upgrading from Lemaker Lubuntu with 3.4 kernel to the latest Armbian with 4.9 kernel my application that reads INPUT PIN using wiringPi is behaving very strange and unstable. I simply make a pin INPUT and check the value using gpio read command. When I short the pin the value returned by gpio command changes not always immediately. Some times it takes up to 5 seconds to refresh the value. I mean, it keeps returning me "0" while the pin is shortened and only few seconds later it starts returning me "1". Hi, I try without success to attach the a.m. adapter to my NanoPi Neo. OS is Armbian_5.25_Nanopineo_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 I did two trials in order to install the driver: 1. Question: Has somebody got this device running on the Neo? And how you have performed this? Please consider, I am just a Linux user, but (unfortenately) no expert. Any hints are very welcome. The wifi connects (shows as active), however, I am unable to get on the internet (pinging results in `network is unreachable`, also can't ping the device itself). Am I building wrong? Thanks! Some notes: - I've been using `Armbian_24.2.6_Orangepizero2w_bookworm_current_6.6.28.img.xz` in the past (downloaded from armbian.com), and the wifi works just fine.

I've got a NanoPi Neo Core 2 and a NanoPi Neo Air. It bothered me that the USB OTG did not function in host mode. Turns out, the included Armbian .dtb's don't have the parts necessary to define the regulator which pushes power back to a client device when the board needs to run in OTG host mode. You can see the regulator on page 8 of the schematic http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/images/6/6b/NanoPi_NEO_Core2-V1.0_1707.pdf I found an upstream patch at https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9921097/ which defined the missing parts for a Neo Plus 2. I put the relevant parts into an overlay dts file (attached) that can be loaded wit…

Hello! I have an Cubietruck with an attached SATA-Disk. I would like to use the board without an SD-Card (I don't see why I should use one when I have a nand and a Disk). I can boot u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin using FEL and Armbian boots successfully. I can write stuff to nand, but I didn't manage to write an working u-boot to nand. Is the SPL-Version the correct one or the one without? Do I have to write to something special like MBR? Where does the BROM search for the bootloader? Does it parse the partition-table? Thanks in advance!

Hi guys, I just started using the new Armbian release on my cubietruck and Banana Pi boards and encountered the following problem. On the Cubieboard the wired interface first did not receive any IP address at all. I than tried as alternative to connect the wireless interface through the armbian-config tool. Which did work fine. However the wired interface is now receiving the same IP address like the wireless one. Currently the only way to resolve this issue is by going again through armbian config tool. I am also experiencing the symptoms on my banana pi board except that it does not have any wireless interface. Which th…

I'm trying to add concurrent mode to the wifi driver on an Orange Pi PC Plus running the latest stable distribution of Armbian, but running into an "invalid module format" error due to the kernel version not matching the source version I'm using to recompile the wifi driver. I installed both the source and header files from armbian-config. The kernel version is 4.19.59 according to uname -r. This apparently is the linux-image-next-sunxi image, according to `apt-cache search linux-image | grep 4.19.59`. However, the source for the next-sunxi branch in the repository is 4.19.57, not 4.19.59, as `apt-cache search linux-source | grep next-sunxi` gives: linu…

Happy New Years, I tried an LXDE ssh "MobaXterm" session with Chromium on my Orange Pi Zero 512mb. Surprised it worked however the laggy browser page scroll and javascript animations (appearing as a really slow vsync wave top to down), does that reflect real world performance when outputting to say hdmi? This Orange Pi has no immediate way to output to my tv so could not test otherwise. Is there any video hardware acceleration being used (mainline kernel Armbian) using this method? As maybe the lack thereof is the cause of lag, along with network overheads etc. Regards, Rollmeister

Is there a Xenial image for NanoPi M1, or a way to “easily†build one ?. I see here https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-neo/ that there is a Xenial image for NanoPi Neo. I am asking because I would like to run HQPlayer's Network Audio Adapter on my NanoPi M1. And this doesn't run on Debian Jessie legacy as it needs libstdc++6 (>=5.2), but it does run on a NanoPi Neo with Xenial. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

Hello, friends. I am using legacy Armbian 3.x kernel on my development boards where I run Stella emulator with some special USB joystick. The joystick is detected as XBOX controller, hence I guess it uses xpad driver. The problem is that this driver is not present in the latest Armbian so this joystick does not work. I would like to use latest Armbian to have the latest packages, using it as a print/scan/radio server and would like also to play some Atari game from time to time. I tried to build it from the source using this https://github.com/paroj/xpad I can load it with modprobe, the joystick seems to be detected, but it is not working in Stella, I cannot eve…

Hi everyone, i bought an OrangePI PC Plus as a Lab computer to google stuff and watch Youtube. I tried Debian_stretch_next_desktop_nightly.7z, nice desktop, but i figured that compiling the mali driver is a pain. Then i tried Debian_jessie_default.7z, installed xfce4, modprobe mali works out of the box but i seems like X11 doesn't utilize that. So how do i get youtube going smoothly in the most painless manner? Thanks a lot!

My Prime is reasonably stable now, except for running youtube videos in fullscreen 1920x1080, which drives the heat up (I've seen 87 !), and after a few minutes freezes the video with the sound continuing. I can't find any mention of YouTube in the documentation, and only video URLs in the forum. Is there some trick I have missed?

Hello! I have a Zero2 board with 1GB of RAM. I compiled a Debian 12 desktop image for Zero2 using Armbian and I want to play online videos through a web browser. Unfortunately, the results have been disappointing as the performance for 1080p videos is very slow. I tried using swap, but it didn't help. I also attempted to play 1080p videos using MPV and VLC. MPV can still play the videos, but it feels sluggish, and VLC gets stuck on the screen until the playback is finished. I would like to know how to configure Zero2 on Linux to achieve video acceleration. I'm new to this, so I would appreciate some guidance. Thank you!
