Hello! I am working on a project that requires coss platform development. Optimally I wish to connect the B-Pro directly to my computer in order to access it from there. Is there any work on this available? I know the BeagleBone can do it for example, bt haven't found anything related to the Pro. Any Information would be inmensely useful and appreciated. Added to this, I want to know if any of you have had any experience with QT for the BPro as well. Thank you!

Hi, I am running Armbian Jessie (4.11.6-sunxi) on Banana Pi M1. For reading and writing SD cards I use linux dd cmd on another box. I do not have a Windows system. My question is this: My SD card is a 16Gb device. With gparted I can reduce the size of the system to a partition that would easily fit on a 4Gb device. But when writing the .img file dd will still see and write an image of 16 Gb There must be a way to make an image that can be written to and booted from a smaller device to save resources on the backup disk. Can anyone point me in the right direction ?

Hi every body, I have a Orangepi Plus 2E as you know with 16GB eMMC. Have installed armbian via SDCard before and executed nand-sata-install to copy it to eMMC. But currently need to get an image to install on another one. So there must be an opposite action like install_to_sdcard (in raspbian) but I couldn't find it.

Hi Igor and everyone else who is supporting this forum with their time and effort. Thanks in advance for reading this and giving it a thought! Question: Any idea where I could turn off mounting /dev/sda1 read only? Problem description: Before moving cubietruck to a new location I did an dist-upgrade, after that a reboot didn't work. First I was asked for debug and root password. After editing I did try to solve my problems without using your help. But I did not succeed yet. Neither with installing a new image and restoring my lamp-stack from backup nor with solutions I found in this forum (changing u-boot config and so on). I did backup sd-…

I was searching for a UPS for the Banana classic and then saw you just can connect a battery to it. What i can't find information about if it needs to be unprotected or if i can use my protected Keeppower 18650 Li-Ionen's that i already have for my flashlight anyway. And is there anything special i need to do in Armbian? Just connect the battery and it works? Hard to find information :-(

Hi all, I recently bought a Banana BPI M2 Zero for a personal human-machine interaction project as this was the only (cheap) available option w.r.t. my specs (HDMI, entry-level OpenGL GPU, enough CPU power for the task). I got a version with Allwinner H3 (which in my view is good) and also read through the H3 buyer's guide. According to that guide, the CPU should be sourced by 1.3V, but to my (positive) surprise, I measured only 1.15V at the output coil (after the coil and against GND, of course) of the SY8113 regulator. However, there's certainly something not working as expected from the schematics: both, the SY8113 and the SY8089 1.2V regulators (SYSTEM+CPU…

Hi, is the image for the M1 and Pro the same? Because after downloading, the file name is "Armbian_5.04_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_4.4.3". On the download page for M1 and Pro the download links point to the same file. Looking at http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/i see only 5.00 for the M1. Another question i have: After the login i see 12 updates and i should run APT. Since years I'm using aptitude since it is the preferred and newer program for Debian. So the question is if i can safely use aptitude? Or is there something pre-installed and i mix up the package management. I will never understand why every tutorial on the web is using APT.

Hi, I installed the main line kernel for Banana Pi and connected a USB/Wifi dongle. The device connects correctly to the wireless network but becomes unreachable after a while. When the issue occures and I try to ping the device, it answers the first ping and then becomes unreachable, via Wifi interface but also via the ethernet interface. I can wait for an hour or so, then I can do a ping (only one) then the device becomes unresponsive. I have to restart the device (power on/off) in order to be able to connect via ssh, but I can work for a few minutes only, then network goes down again. I don't have a screen to connect to the…

I am successfully using Armbian Current on my Banana Pi. I have a 120GB usb SSD drive. I'd like to boot from it - my other Banana Pi with the same system boots from SATA connected HDD no problem. When I boot the device, I can see the drive using sudo fdisk -l as /dev/sda1 I can also get the UUID and everything. I've modified the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file and changed the UUID, but I can't get the machine to boot. I tried also to change the UUID to /dev/sda1. Didn't help either. When I boot with HDMI connected, I can see the kernel iterating through USB bus and the result is "no USB storage device found" and that's it. …

Before installing this Armbian legacy kernel (3.4.109), I was using a Bananian-based image with OpenMediaVault (the so called BanaNAS image) and was getting regular 30MB/s transfer rates to my Samba shared hard drives (USB and SATA). My PC and Banana are connected through a gigabit switch, and working at 1Gbps. After installing and configuring the new Armbian image, I notice my transfer rates were now around ~23MB/s which was odd. After trying to change some smb.conf parameters and getting nowhere, I decided to test just the network performance by setting up a simple web server on my PC and doing a wget -O /dev/null http://<my PC-IP>/test.zip of 3Gb. The values …

Hey there, I am a long time user of your armbian operating system. It is great, I am using it for a simple home NAS system. But I have found one problem with armbian, which is very annoying: My standard Banana Pi keeps loosing the HDD Ive connected over Sata. It is a 3,5" Seagate Barracude 3TB drive formated as Ext4. It gets 5V and 12V power and runs quite perfect, as long as it has something to do. It spins up and down as I configured it. But when I leave the pi for a longer time period unattended (no workload), and the harddrive stays in spindown-mode too long, it wont identify the HDD anymore. The mount point and the /dev/sda are gone. I need to powercycle t…

Hello. From moment when i flashed armbian to SD card and boot it up on Banana Pi M1, random reboots started to show. Ya'll should know that i'm hosting Plex and Tautulli on that. It's pretty much handling these servers without big problems but i'm constantly getting these random reboots. Well, i looked into /var/log/syslog to see what is happening. It looks like before every booting session there's cron job couple of hours before reboot. Maybe that's the reason? I can post whole syslog here from jan 5 till feb 2.

Hi all, I've purchased a second hand banana pi M1 board with an BPI 7 inch LC connected on prarallel RGB. The board and the LCD is working with last bananian distribution and https://github.com/BPI-SINOVOIP/BPI-M1-M1Plus-Configuration/blob/master/fex/BPI_M1_7lcd.fex. I'm trying to make both working with Armbian but I'm lost. I don't find the script.bin, /boot/script.bin or anywhere. And no idea how to set /boot/armbianEnv.txt for the LCD. The kernel have been rebuilded using this topic. Any help will be apreciate. Regards Hugues

So far I was used to the Grub (and lilo) boot manager(s) but the Armbian 5.31 Bananapi Debian jessie next 4.11.5 image does some things differently. I have found the file /boot/armbianEnv.txt but none of the websites I found described what I should do with it. I tried to copy it to /etc but the changes did not take effect. I would like to remove the logo and have verbose boot messages. Could somebody help me to get there, please?

I have a big problem with the latest Armbian images, the problem not only persists with the latest versions, with the previous one the same thing happened to me with the old Ubuntu images, it works without problems with the old kernel, I have a video published with the problem since it works but at certain times the device turns off and does not turn on a single LED light until I reconnect it, I thought it was a problem with the power supply but not with the old Ubuntu images it works and even with the game emulators of the lakka-tv image, so I came to the conclusion that the hardware is in good condition, therefore check what the fault could be because the computer usual…

Hello! I've downloaded the current images for BananaPi M1 offered in the site, as "Community Maintained" builds, but none of them is capable of producing video output from HDMI nor composite video. Both the Ubuntu jammy and Debian12 versions lose the video output as soon as the kernel starts to load, after the u-boot screen. I tried the desktop and server images, without any luck. With the older 5.x kernel, the ubuntu-jammy image that I've downloaded before loads fine. I know it's an old board, but it still gives me some amusement time tinkering with it and playing retro games. Anyone experiencing the same problem? Thanks!

It's told to be 1Gb/s, but I am not even getting near that speed: wget https://cdn.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/v5.x/linux-5.4.5.tar.xz ... linux-5.4.5.tar.xz 100%[==============================================================================================>] 104,37M 4,43MB/s in 24s 2019-12-18 22:38:33 (4,35 MB/s) - »linux-5.4.5.tar.xz« gespeichert [109435988/109435988] BPM1 and the router are set to 1000Mb/s, and the download line works at more then 100Mb/s. In the last weeks I've successfully installed Armbian Debian Stretch 5.59 onto a Banana Pi M2 Berry, now I'm trying with a Banana Pi M1. From https://www.armbian.com/bananapi/ I've downloaded the Debian Stretch image and wrote it to my 4GB SD-card using Etcher (on Windows 10) - Etcher meant it was successfully after writing. I've safely ejected the SD-card from Windows, plugged it into the Banana Pi M, but it tries to boot from the network. Then I've taken a look at https://dl.armbian.com/bananapi/archive/ and downloaded Armbian-5.59 Debian Stretch image, wrote it with Etcher again, booted. Same issue. It shows a red armbian logo with "initializing boot loader…

Hi, I am totally new to Linux, but already managed to run OMV on my Banana Pi M1+ with Plex and other services I wanted on Armbian. Now I tried to run Kodi, so it could serve me both as NAS and HTPC. Firstly, I have installed xorg, then lightdm and set it up for autologin, which is working correctly. Then, I have installed Kodi 16 from git, but only gray box appears and then vanishes and screen stays black. My first impression was it is lacking GL drivers, so I have followed this tutorial: https://forum.armbian.com/index. ... pi-orangepi-pc-etc/, tested and everything seemed to be ok. I installed Emilia Pinball to check additionally - it renders correctly. Still, when …

Hi, has anyone been able to use the BPi 7 inch LCD (S070WV20-CT16) with Banana Pi M1+? I took the FEX file from this how-to: https://sinovoip.blogspot.hu/2015/08/how-to-banana-pi-bpi-m1-7-inch-touch.html and put it the "bin" subdir of the Armbian image (Armbian_5.20_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.7z), then symlinked from the script.bin in the root dir to it (I did not change anything else in the image) and rebooted. At boot when it comes to starting the kernel, it always resets (starts the boot process again and again). When I use (symlink to) the "built-in" bananapim1pluslcd7.bin in the image, the same result: starts the boot process again a…

Hello everybody. AFAIK Banana PI M1+ share the same costumed Armbian OS with Banana Pro. The Armbian can run pretty well without any changes on my Banana Pro. The problem is, with the same OS image, the on-board WiFi is not working and i can't remember what im doing (what i remember is I do something inside /boot directory), then the WiFi is detected and working properly on my Banana Pi M1+. My simple question is What is the right way to configure Armbian for Banana Pi M1+ after installation? I assume all the default configuration is for Banana Pro and we need some tweak for Banana Pi M1+ especially to enable on-board WiFi and to use GPIO properly.

Hi, I installed 'Armbian_5.00_Bananapim2_Ubuntu_trusty_4.4.1_desktop' image recently, because I had some problems with sinovoip images (strange hugh? ). One of the problems was the gigabit ethernet slowness, but it seems with the armbian OS is still the same. I get around 30Mbit/sec only on iperf tests. I have tested my network connections & router and I can get much more speed through other computers, but the banana shows this slow mark. The gigabit ethernet connection was one of the reasons tu buy the banana, but I don't know if I am doing something wrong, if I have a bad unit, etc... I have found some internet benchmarks but all of them are based on the…

Good morning, I am using a version compiled with your script for Banana Pi M2 Berry to build a network HiFi streamer, and I am satisfied with it. I have installed LMS and Squeezelite, and everything is working great. Now I would like to add an Innomaker HAT AMP that has a 12V power connector that powers the Raspberry Pi at 5V via GPIO. The GPIO of the Banana Pi M2 Berry is declared compatible with the Raspberry Pi3, but I would like to be sure before frying the board in case it is not. Can you please confirm the total compatibility of the GPIO connector of the Banana Pi with that of the Raspberry Pi? Thank you for your response.

I've been trying to bring up Armbian on my Banana Pi M2 Ultra (with A40i SoC). First I tried using the community rolling release, and then building it myself from source code. In every case, it was failing to boot; on the HDMI console it was hanging at the stage where the initrd was attempting to scan for the root partition. ("Scanning for btrfs filesystems") Taking a closer look at the verbose output of the UART console during a boot attempt, I saw that there was an error message about the sunxi-mmc device driver experiencing a failure while it was enumerating the EMMC chip: [ 4.136553] mmcblk2: mmc2:0001 8GTF4R 7.28 GiB [ 4.144362] sunxi…

Hello. I am new to Armbian. My Banana PI M2 (already a disappointment, bad purchase on my part) is up and running but will not reboot all the way. It shuts down but does not restart again. Any ideas how to go about troubleshooting and fixing this? It is a deal breaker for what I planned to be a headless system. It needs to be restartable without physically pulling the plug to do so.

I am listed as the community maintainer for the Banana Pi M2 Zero. I haven't actually done any maintaining but I am thinking about doing so now. But before I do, a couple of quick questions. 1) The latest build (as far as I can see), is Aug-31st, 2023. Do I have that right? Or am I missing something? 2) The main page for the Banana Pi M2 Zero (https://www.armbian.com/bananapi-m2-zero/) shows a link to Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.273_Bananapim2zero_bookworm_current_6.6.54_minimal.img.xz which is for "Minimal/IOT images with Armbian Linux v6.6". Is that a generic build for all community maintained sunxi hardware? Or is that a specific Banana Pi M2 Zero …

I did try the latest Armbian 23.5 Bookworm on my banana pi m2 zero with allwinner h3 chip and I couldn't get the USB OTG port working (i. e. no keyboard recognition) and eth0 also did not work. After a lot of searching I found an old image (BananaPi-M2zero_Armbian_2021.08.1_bullseye_CLI_5.10.60.img) which did work. I wonder what happened to the kernel Kernel 6.2.y edition and why those crucial hardware features are not working anymore. Is there a vault somewhere of older armbian software revisions?

Hi, I recently purchased a Banana Pi M2 zero, and I can't seem to get the OTG port to work with any kind of operating system. I have tried all of the normal remedies like cable issues, power supply, etc. With no luck. I know Armbian is usually the best OS for these little boards, but I can't seem to get a keyboard or mouse to work with it. Although it boots up just fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I got myself a Banana Pi M2 Zero (with H3 chip) and am running Armbian (Armbian_21.08.1_Bananapim2zero_buster_current_5.10.60) on it. I have enabled SPI by adding the spi-spidev dt overlay. Now I want to use both CS pins at the same time so that I can connect two devices. The spi-add-cs1 overlay doesn't change anything so I researched a bit and found this custom overlay. Unfortunately it didn't work too and there is still only a single spidev available. Is there any way to enable both of them at the same time?

Hi, I received a Banana Pi M2+ board on which I installed ARMBian. Their is only one problem for sound. Audio out is only available on HDMI. As I will use this board with no display, keyboard and mouse connection how may I get this board playing sound ? Two ways but I do not know which one is possible : 1) does it exist an HDMI to sound 3.5mm jack adapter ? 2) which USB bluetooth dungle works perfectly on ARMBian I may use to pair this board to a portable bluetooth speaker ? Sincerely thanks. Have a nice day. Miguipda ;-)

Hi all, I'm new here, and first of all I want to greet you. Last week I got a brand new Banana PI M2+, and tried to install the latest armbian Image on SD card. So far so good, but the M2+ is not booting from SD card. Except I short press the uBoot button followed by the reset button. This means I only get the board booted after a power cycle, if I press the uBoot button before. Then I tried to boot the board from NAND, but it is the same. It only boots from NAND, if I press the uBoot button before. (Installed to NAND before, of course) To verfy that I do not have any hardware issue, I downloaded a original Banana PI M2+ Image from the Banana-pi…

First time poster, hopefully I'll get along with all of you! I am currently trying to connect a DS18(b)20 cable to my Banana Pi M2+, which is running Jessie Desktop. I connected the 3,3 V to Pin 1, GND to Pin 6 and Data to Pin 7, as well as the recommended 4,7k Ohm resistor between them. Since, as I should have mentioned, I am an absolute beginner (literally just got into this a few days ago), I used a German tutorial for this, which told me to enter the following into my command module: After which my /sys/bus folder shows a "w1" folder, which it does. However, the cable itself cannot be found. After some tinkering, I found that w1-therm does not seem…

I received today my BPI M2+, however, I cannot make it boot. I tried both Diet Pi and Armbian Server. No boot. The red LED is on all the time. I'm using a Samsung EVO 32 GB SD card flashed with Etcher on Ubuntu. My power supply is a 5v 3A barrel connector. Since the usual suspects are not the cause, I have no idea what might be going wrong.

Hello On my Banana PI infrared receiver is not detected at bootup. I'm running armbian 4.7 jessie. The only /dev/input device is that of axp20x-pekj, which I undestand to be a power controller. My issue is similar as found in this thread: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/475-bananapi-r1-no-infrared-device/ Except ofcourse the board is different From the other thread I gather I need to change something in regards to dtb-s, but I guess as the boards are different using the same one as mentioned is not a good idea.

Hello everyone, Looks like i have some issue after last upgrade. I'm using a Banana Pi Pro as a file server at home (with samba mainly). The system is some kind of freezing after a few hours : i'm watching a movie and cannot go to the end of it. The system disappears from the network : no more access via samba/windows network, no more ssh, no more ping... Fortunately i am logging remotly so i can see that the system is still working somehow because it goes on sending syslogs. Last syslog is (the system "froze" at 20:10) : Feb 7 20:02:01 localhost CRON[3118]: (root) CMD ( cd / && run-parts --report /etc/cron.hourly) Feb 7 20:05:…

Dear all I have the problem that when I reboot my banana pi pro it always creates a new eth0 config. Which as default has ip4 disabled hence I cant see it directly. At the moment I always access the pi via ip6 and than delete the config via nmtui. My question: How can I turn the creation of a new eth0 config on reboot off? ARMBIAN 5.60 stable Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS 4.14.70-sunxi Thanks

used your script to make rootfs on SATA device but it doesn't boot up. I just modified your script: if [[ $KERNEL == *"3.4"* ]]; then sed -e 's,root=\/dev\/mmcblk0p1,root=/dev/'"$DESTPART"',g' -i /boot/boot.cmd mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr else sed -e 's,root=\/dev\/mmcblk0p1,root=/dev/'"$DESTPART"',g' -i /boot/uEnv.txt sed -e 's,root=\/dev\/mmcblk0p1,root=/dev/'"$DESTPART"',g' -i /boot/boot.cmd if [ -f /boot/boot.cmd ]; then mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr fi fi …

I use 4.14 image from https://www.armbian.com/banana-pi-pro/ I try to enable vdpau and switch from next to legacy kernel on Armbian Bionic (linux-image-sun7i). And got an hangup at "Starting kernel..." message. Set verbosity "9" and mkimage doesn't help. Why no bionic desktop images for banana pi pro? Did you drop support for legacy kernel on bionic for old bananas? For xenial, bananapipro.bin exists in package linux-xenial-root-bananapi. wget https://apt.armbian.com/dists/xenial/main/Contents-armhf.gz -O-|zcat|grep bananapipro.bin But this file not found for bionic: wget https://apt.armbian.com/dists/bionic/main/Contents-armhf.gz -O-|zcat|grep bananapipr…

Hello, I have two Banana Pi Pro boards with current Armbian 20.02.1_Bananapipro_buster_current_5.4.20_minimal, kernel 5.4.20-sunxi and both have small SSD connected (WD 120GB and Goodram 120GB). fdisk -l doesn't show any drive's except sdcard (and ram drives). Is there any way I can get it working?
