  1. Hi, Many thanks for your support. I installed successfully the OpenMediaVault (OMV) ISO Image on the new Orange Pi Zero Plus (OPI0+): OMV_3_0_91_Orangepizeroplus_4.13.13.img.xz. I mounted an external USB 2.0 HDD. via OMV The OPI0+ is directly connected thru LAN cable to the router (Fritz!Box 7490). Login via PuTTY ssh works also fine. Additionally, I installed miniDLNA and configured folder/file sharing and media streaming. The flac-files are provided quickly, including album cover pictures (jpg). Now, I kindly ask for your support to disable Wi-Fi (WLAN). I thought about blacklisting the module 'cfg80211', but …

  2. I'm trying to use a few of the GPIO pins as output pins on an Orange Pi PC+ running Armbian 5.26 and legacy kernel 3.4.113-sun8i. When I look at the FEX file, it appears that the GPIO pins have all been disable d by default: [gpio_para] gpio_used = 0 gpio_num = 0 I don't recall them being disabled by default in previous versions of Armbian. 6. I have an ADC and DAC board built for Raspberry Pi which has 2 slaves on the SPI bus, requiring ce0 and ce1. This works fine on the Raspberry pi 3, which installs devices /dev/spidev0.0 and also /dev/spidev/0.1, to access each slave. On the OPi PC I can access slave 0, but not slave 1. In /dev on the Opi there is only a single spidev device: /dev/spidev0.0 and no spidev0.1 device. I have modified the script.bin (I am using Armbian legacy OS - Armbian_5.14_Orangepipc_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop) by editing the .fex (and making a new script.bin) to add a spi_cs1 = port:PC07<3><default><default><default> line. Hello all, just joined the forum since this is my first time using Armbian. So I got a NanoPi M1 and the dvp cam500b. From what I understand this camera uses the omnivision ov5640. I am having trouble getting this thing recognized in armbian. I get /dev/video0 to be listed by adding it to /etc/modules, but if I go to access it with any software it reports back 'no such device' or to the similar effect (this includes mjpg-streamer, fswebcam, ffmpeg). Researching around I find many forum posts of people saying one must modify the 'fex' file... to which I found out this is the decompiled version of the /boot/script.bin file using the sunxi-tools/bin2fex. Thing is, wh…

I have an Orange Pi One Plus with the H6 chip in it and I'm quite happy with how well it's supported by Armbian. I haven't really had any problems with it. I do have one question, though. I'm using armbianmonitor to "-m" monitor the machine and I notice that the temps are always pretty hot. Even at idle (480MHz) it still shows 72C. That seems higher than I would have expected. Is this normal, expected behavior? I understand that the SoC thermal monitoring code in the kernel is pretty new and therefore might not be perfect, yet. So, I thought I'd ask. Because it may just be my board that's off. Does anyone know if this is normal? Info: …

Currently I am using Python and am able to address the GPIO pins (using this project: https://github.com/duxingkei33/orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3) However, I need to communicate with a serial device (projector) using RS232 on 9600 BAUD. For this, the built-in UART should do the trick (with an additional voltage converter). Does anyone know how I can address this device from Python? Alternatively, is there a way to clock" an GPIO output to 9600 BAUD and manually send the data? Thanks, Ezpl

  30. I have read through the forum that Banana Pi Pro does not support directly powering drive over USB as it might be too much for this board. In my setup I use 2 A power adapter for my Banana Pi and an active HUB with power supply of 1 A, but with limit of 500 mA for HDD. Still, when connecting HUB to Banana Pi and HDD to HUB the same issue appears as when no HUB is used - the red diode turns off and Banana Pi looses power. I have already tried several HDDs (500 GB, 320 GB, 2 TB) - all with the same result. Anyone has some idea why this might be occuring despite powering drives from external source? Does Armbian have any software limitations that are creating this issue? …

  44. Hello there, I belong to the group of users that bought a BPi-M2 to just find out that hardware is nothing without software support. First, to my background: I do spend a lot of time at my computer using both Windows and Linux, but I am not a Linux guru. I used to configure and build kernels several years ago, at the time, when we used LILO to boot Linux. My field of interest is real-time sound processing, based on complex filter banks (ideally implemented using multi-threading). For a current project I needed something small, powerful and easily programmable. Since the BPi-M2 has 4 cores and built-in microphone, it seemed ideal for the first tries. Anyway, I…

  45. I have recently been trying to get my spi ili9341 working under kernel 6.6, having gotten it working previously. I checked to ensure there were no changes in the overlay required by the newer kernel. I confirmed that the pins were configured correctly and that the ILI9341 DRM module had loaded.. Despite this I was met with a white screen. Think I must have missed something I swapped out my SD card for another using an image based on kernel 5.15.88, where I was able to recieve a display. Looking back over the dmesg log, I noticed a slight difference in behaviour with the older kernel. firstly we can clearly see that the SPI driver is requesting to use gpio 34 as…

  46. I've been trying to bring up Armbian on my Banana Pi M2 Ultra (with A40i SoC). First I tried using the community rolling release, and then building it myself from source code. In every case, it was failing to boot; on the HDMI console it was hanging at the stage where the initrd was attempting to scan for the root partition. ("Scanning for btrfs filesystems") Taking a closer look at the verbose output of the UART console during a boot attempt, I saw that there was an error message about the sunxi-mmc device driver experiencing a failure while it was enumerating the EMMC chip: [ 4.136553] mmcblk2: mmc2:0001 8GTF4R 7.28 GiB [ 4.144362] sunxi…

  47. Hi, I have a problem with an OrangePi that I have set up to host Octoprint for my 3d printer. It connects to the wifi just fine(receives wifi IP and I can ping e.g. google.com), but this is all checked through a serial interface, because I can not connect via my network(through SSH) and I can not see the webserver that Octoprint should host. I can't even ping the OrangePi from my computer. What solves the problem for me is to ping my computer from the OrangePi(via serial console). First then I can connect via SSH and see the web page or ping the OrangePi from my computer. If I plug in ethernet to the OrangePi, there is no problem. I have searched …

  49. Hi, I have a question regarding the new Banana Pi (A20) boot script created in Armbian 5.25. Many months ago I switched my roots from the SDCard to the sata disk using the sata-nand-install script, after that I used to switch between SD and HDD and vice versa, mostly for maintenance operations on the HDD (sometime the system gets corrupted and I have to restore the HDD partition with e2fsck from the SD). Until Armbian 5.20 I used to edit the boot.cmd file pointing to the desired root device, recompile the boot.scr and then the system were loaded from the desired partition. Now with Armbian 5.25 I'm not sure which file I have to edit to …

  50. Hello everybody. AFAIK Banana PI M1+ share the same costumed Armbian OS with Banana Pro. The Armbian can run pretty well without any changes on my Banana Pro. The problem is, with the same OS image, the on-board WiFi is not working and i can't remember what im doing (what i remember is I do something inside /boot directory), then the WiFi is detected and working properly on my Banana Pi M1+. My simple question is What is the right way to configure Armbian for Banana Pi M1+ after installation? I assume all the default configuration is for Banana Pro and we need some tweak for Banana Pi M1+ especially to enable on-board WiFi and to use GPIO properly.

I tried every distros on my orangepi2e, but I can't install things like kodi (refuses to start, missing libs), or making work hfs drive (can't mount hfs although hfsprogs well installed). I ended up installing openelec and it works great, but I would like to do a NAS with it. Is it still in active development or there is working ISO ? Thank you very much. Best regards, Poukin

I'am running the latest Stretch server version on a PiOne (Linux 4.14.65-sunxi). I think that something is going wrong with the logrotate. The rotation is done in /var/log.hdd directory (see also the scripts in /etc/logrotate.d/). But the original file of each is in /var/log directory and is not "cleared" after the rename, because it is not renamed. So, if Zram copies /var/log directory to the /var/log.hdd directory, the original file in /var/log with old logging and included new logging is written to the /var/log.hdd directory. In the next logrotate this growing file is compressed. In this situation/in my case the compressed files contains all the loggings and no…

  58. Hi, first post here, so a bit of context: I have owned my Orange Pi PC for a while and have it set up running the latest Armbian with legacy kernel, serving files over AFP and SMB on the local network and running a Transmission daemon. I set it up with the desktop image but followed the instructions in the documentation to remove the desktop environment etc. I believe that this has left the VDPAU and Cedrus related files intact. As I am using it as a media server I thought it would be interesting to leverage the H3's capabilities of encoding H.264 to convert old DivX files into a more modern format, but none of the solutions I have found for this work correctly. It seems…

  59. Dear all, we need some help from Banana Pi M2 (not that important), Cubox-i/UDOO and ODROID XU4 users. Please look through this Github issue and also have look how we currently handle IRQ redistribution on various board families (example 1 and example 2) Since irqbalanced on ARM is broken (and if it would work it's often counterproductive) assigning IRQs statically to specific CPU cores increases overall system performance slightly for free. We do this for A20 boards for years (dual core --> sending Ethernet to second CPU core), extended this on H3 boards a few months ago (quad core and somewhat complicated due to the count of different boards exposing diff…

  72. Hi, my current project is about using a NanoPI M1 as a controller for a 3D printer. As such, one wants to have very tight timing on the GPIO output, with as little jitter as possible, to get smooth motion of the stepper motors. However, it is common belief that getting a fast timing with little jitter is virtually impossible to do under linux, without the help of a dedicated chip just for the IO. While that is true in general on stock kernels, it's possible to vastly improve on that front by spending a little effort. One way on ARM chips is to use the FIQ. That is an interrupt that has the highest priority, which can interrupt all other, regular interrupts. Ho…

  89. Well, the title is self explanatory. I am trying the new stable release for the Orange PI win from armbian (thank you guys!) but when booting for the first time in headless mode via SSH through Ethernet cable it gets stuck at "Enter new UNIX password". I put the new password and nothing happens. If I unplug the cable to force the SSH server to close the connection and then I plug it back again, the password is kept the old one (default 1234) and the problem repeats. After some tests I finally got to change the password, but it gets stuck after, or even before sometimes if I reboot. It seems that the SSH tunnel is simply not stable. I should mention that the configura…

Hi All, Is here somebody, who use R1+SATA disk+wifi together? (with Igor's great debian with kernel 3.4.107) When I switch on wifi, everything seems to be ok. I live in highly interfered area, so performance is sometimes low, but everything works for several hours. After several hours my R1 gets frozen. Last log message is "DHCP ACK" from my wifi printer. The question is, can it be power issue? I have USB power meter and current sometimes exceed 1,5A, but voltage holds still above 5V. When I tested the board with OpenWRT, I had connected USB LTE modem to R1, wifi was switched on too, but system was stable. Another thing is that OpenWRT has a bug in wifi driver and…

Hello I was wondering how can make possible usage of software raid1, using integrated emmc and another card placed into the slot. So far I have used that on Slackware x86 without any issue, but there I tells the Lilo to boot from /dev/md0 for example. Wonder where I should make adjustments here (in Armbian(. Can someone point me at the right direction?

  99. Hi, I am fairly new to the SBC board and struggling to begin my setup of the NanoPo NEO Air. This little board is a perfect fit for my project I need to develop. The first problem I encounter is the following: There are no HDMI port. Thus I can't do the basic configuration for my network and allow an SSID access. Does anyone has a solution to preconfigure the WIFI of my Armbian from windows (or Linux if needed)? My second problem will be: I would like to install my system on the EMMC flash to not be dependent of the SD card. Can you confirm I would only need to run the command "nand-sata-install" when I will get…

  100. Hello. Some facts: 1. Boot with image based on legacy kernel cause shutdown after some (less than 10) seconds after power on. 2. Boot with image based on vanilla kernel always ok. 3. If i try to boot without SD card, than power off Cubie with button, then insert SD and switch on with button - it will boot OK with lagacy kernel! Which logs can help to find the problem? I ought to use legacy kernel - i need internal soundcard and both USB. And I see that it is not my own problem - http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1593-armbian-cubieboard1a10-desktop-with-legacy-kernel-wont-boot-just-shuts-off-cubieboard/- i think we can help to find the bug.
