Hi! Unless mistaken, I believe audio is missing from 3.5mm jack on the RockPi4b. To enable it, I had: - To update the dts by adding definitions close to the RockPro64 (some available starting in mainline 5.6) - Change them to use I2S0 instead of I2S1 - Enable audio-graph-card in kernel config (I also removed some audio modules which issued warnings/errors during boot) - Patch es8316.c to prevent a kernel panic during boot (found in Ayufan's latest mainline kernel for RockPro64) yannick@rockpi-4b:~$ aplay -l **** List of PLAYBACK Hardware Devices **** card 0: rockchiprk3399 [rockchip,rk3399], device 0: ff880000.i2s-ES8316 HiFi ES8…

Good morning gentlemen, I have just discovered that one of the cores on my RockPi4B is faulty and often causes segfaults and crashes, I can disable the suspect core by issuing the following command $ sudo echo 0 | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu2/online However, this is fine if the machine has booted, but i want to disable the faulty core as early on in the boot process as possible. Is it possible to disable the core in the uboot environment, or could someone offer me some advice as to the best time to disable the core? Thanks, Leon.

So, I tried to adapt @Kwiboo and @jernej patches on my 5.6 branch, but this made the kernel fail to boot for no visible reason. Since I were able to boot it without the VPU patches, I'm convinced that it's their readaptation that broke something. The patches applied are here : https://github.com/Miouyouyou/RockMyy64 If someone wants to play with them and determine which one break the boot process.

Greetings, Here's a quick and very dirty way to use the NVMe disk for the whole system, except the boot files and kernels which will be read from the SDCard. This method is UNSUPPORTED. Meaning that if you follow this procedure and your system broke, catched fire and start attacking you in your sleep, it's on you ! The reason I keep booting on the SDCard are : This makes boot issues easier to deal with since all the files are more easily accessible. It's easy to quickly read a SDCard from a PC using a SDCard reader USB dongle bought from the local store. Meanwhile mounting a NVMe<->USB readers are no…

Hi, I'm trying to build a zynthian synthesizer on a nanoPi m4v2. The principle is to start from a minimal buster image and run a bunch of compilation scripts (see here on github) to create all the needed software. But all that stuff is for Raspberry Pi. In an initialization script (see here on github) they define compilation flags like this: if [ "$ZYNTHIAN_FORCE_RBPI_VERSION" ]; then hw_architecture="armv7l" rbpi_version=$ZYNTHIAN_FORCE_RBPI_VERSION else hw_architecture=`uname -m 2>/dev/null` if [ -e "/sys/firmware/devicetree/base/model" ]; then rbpi_version=`tr -d '\0' < /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/model` else…

Hi, i'm new to armbian and i hope to write in the right place I have a rock64 and deployed it as a remote server. Since it is in a shared place, to better protect my and my user's privacy i enabled Full Disk Encryption (CRYPTROOT_ENABLE). Now, back to the question: is usb otg enabled by default? Can someone with physical access use an otg cable to read files from the rock64? I would try it by myself but i don't have physical access to the board. OS: Armbian 19.11.4 Bionic (5.4.28-rockchip64) Thanks

Hi all, I'd just like to share a problem I experienced and what solved after a bit of Googling. Basically, I have Nextcloud installed on my Nanopi M4 (v1) with Armbian: $ uname -a Linux nanopim4 4.4.192-rk3399 When I sync files from my Android phone via local wifi, often the transfers were just failed. Not always but usually, it's when a directory contains lot of large files. After a bit of Googling and came across this: https://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/494290/nanopi-m4-rk3399-apache2-ssl-large-download-hangs/495378#495378 It works. The problem's solved after: ethtool -K eth0 rx off tx off and put the com…

L.S. After installing Armbian_20.02.1_Rock64_buster_current_5.4.20.7z on my 4GB rock64 running on SD card - I could run for days 2 processes with "openssl speed" resulting in 2 CPU's 100% busy. - But when I added a third "openssl speed" it only takes minutes to freeze the board. - Further the "ondemand" scaling_governor is active (default setting) I noticed that distributed /etc/default/cpufrequtils contains line: ==> MAX_SPEED=1390000 This value is not in the list with valid values for this CPU : ==> 408000 600000 816000 1008000 1200000 1296000 1512000 After updating this to valid value and restart service …

Hello, I think this is my first post here. I am trying to operate an Epson L4150 on-board Rock pi4 b multifunction printer. I was successful in running the printer. But the scanner is another story. Xsane does not recognize it. I have been trying to install the driver which is downloaded from the Epson page, but it is for armhf. I tried a dpkg --add-architecture armhf, then update, but when I try to run install.sh from the Epson driver, it throws error: E: Failed to locate package libboost-filesystem1.58.0 Somebody could help me? Thank you

Hi guys, I am using Orange Pi 4 (RK3399) and put in a SD card Armbian buster (and other time bionic) from the official web site but nothing happens. I have tried so many times using dd command from my debian OS and windows tools to write image on SD card but nothing again. When I start the board with Android the SD card could be read by android, but when I reboot just the red led shines and the screen of monitor doesn't show nothing. I would like some help because I would use my board in my project of postgraduate. Nowadays I am so disappointed with this problem. Best regards.

I have a Rock Pi4 B (rk3399) and I do not find the solution to use my native screen resolution with the latest kernel: 1600x1200. It was working fine with Armbian Bionic Legacy kernel 4.4. However, despite my tinkering, I do not find how to make it work with the latest kernel (option is not available in the Display Setting, xrandr manipulation did not give any success). Any pointer towards a solution would be greatly appreciated. Below the output of xrandr for the two images I ran. Hello everyone! I have an issue with rebooting my orangepi 4 (version without eMMC, booted from SD card). WIthout SD card, it boots normally, but if SD card is inserted, it won’t boot. On serial port, it is visible that there’s a crash right after the message that says something like “booting from eMMC”. The message includes the values of the registers IIRC. Then, something like “resetting CPU”, and it starts over: tries to boot from eMMC, crashes, etc. Sorry, I didn’t record the exact message, but there’s a chance I’ll re-flash the board in the next couple weeks and then I can provide the exact messages. I’ve tested it with Bionic minimal with 5.4 kernel and buster server with 5.4 kernel. If I insert the SD card later, it’s fine. Also, the official ubuntu bionic …

I have noticed that the NanoPi M4V2 has an OPP table which causes the device to overclock; the table is suitable for an RK3399K SoC, but the M4V2 has a standard RK3399 SoC with maximum speeds of 1.42GHz for the A53 cores and 1.80GHz for the A72 cores (despite FriendlyArm themselves citing the K speeds in marketing material, which is incorrect). I believe that this may also be causing stability issues with my unit, however I will be performing additional testing (I cannot find where it is getting the "extended" OPP tables from, so I am limiting it via cpufreq-set and testing for stability.) Does anyone have any insight or ideas?

Hi All, thanks for this great project, much appreciated! Could someone give me an educated guess whether there is a risk of damaging my board when the blue LED is flashing much faster (at least twice, probably more) than usual? I suspect something is changing the frequency or voltage and I'm not sure how much time I can take in this state to try to analyze the problem further. For now I unplug the power when it happens. Hello, I'm trying to use a NanoPi M4 with an old TV. When the system boots, the TV displays "Invalid resolution." However, it works with a different TV, which unfortunately I cannot use full time. I note that on the working TV, there's a line in dmesg stating "Console: switching to colour frame buffer device 240x67" which would imply that this can be configured somewhere?? However I tried searching, the only docs I get are outdated, for other hardware, or don't work. I tried adding 'disp.screen0_output_mode=1280x720p60' to /boot/armbianEnv.txt, but it had no effect. A pointer as to where these settings are actually controlled would be very helpful. Thanks

I connect the rockpi 4 to a Samsung display whose normal resolution is 1680x1050 via a hdmi to dvi line, but the maxium resolution I can choose is 1280x1024. And when I connect it to a 4K tv via hdmi, the maxium resolution is 1920x1080, not 3840x2160. The legacy kernel (4.4.210) works perfectly in both cases.

Hi all, I have found a weird condition. I have a home built image running off sd card with no probs. my EMMC has friendly distro on it. I ran nand-sata-install to install armbian to EMMC. then I ran growpart and resize2fs against the EMMC and rebooted. afterwards, host failed to boot from emmc. so I thought "no probs, boot of sd". But SD failed to boot also. I tried same SD card in 1st gen nanopim4. boot happened fine. retried boot in nanopim4v2 and failed to boot. re-wrote arbian image and still failed to boot from SD. wrote friendly image to sd card and boot happened fine. ran dd against emmc and re-wr…

I have a suggestion for the moderators: Please move the Rockchip 3399 subforum from development to Bug Tracker if its ok! Most of the boards listed there: Nanopi Neo4, M4, NanoPC T4, Rock64PRO, Rock Pi4 are now marked as supported on the Armbian download page. I read a comment from @Igor sometime ago (not able to locate right now) that the only thing holding back the sub forum transfer was a lack of moderator action. Thanks.

I suggest adding a small patch for all u-boot for rk33xx. It allows to enable direct booting from USB media and significantly facilitates the use of RK33xx models for users. Allows you to easily launch any system from USB without the need for complex settings and manipulations with existing (main) systems on devices on SD or eMMC. The entire path fits in two lines. https://github.com/150balbes/Build-Armbian/blob/master/patch/u-boot/u-boot-arm-64/u-boot-0010-rk-usb-start.patch#L18

Hello, I have read some threats with the same issue, armbian images are not booting, there is not HDMI signal when turn on rockpi4. I am still trying unsuccessfully to get the sound through the rt5651 codec using the main line kernel (I use NanoPC-T4). I corrected the dts/dtb file and assembled the kernel module. The kernel performs i2s bus and codec switching. The corresponding audio device appears on the system. I start a alsamixer. I can change settings. When I change some settings, I can even hear clicks in the dynamic. So the codec chip is powered up. And the codec chip is controlled through the i2c bus. I can switch the audio output through the codec. But there is no sound. I can 't figure out what the reason is. The dts/dtb files for main line kernel and rockchip 4.4.xxx kernel are slightly dif…

The following image boots fine from microSD card on my RockPI4a (2GByte): https://dl.radxa.com/rockpi/images/third-party/Armbian_5.67_Rockpi4b_Debian_stretch_default_4.4.154_desktop_20181210-gpt.img.gz Unfortunately, that images' kernel does not seem to include an AHCI driver, so it does not find the 5 SATA port miniPCIe controller. i am using. That controller is working (mostly) fine with the Radxa provided 4.4.100 debian kernel though. So, i tried to install the following current images: https://dl.armbian.com/rockpi-4a/Buster_current https://dl.armbian.com/rockpi-4a/archive/Armbian_19.11.5_Rockpi-4a_buster_current_5.…

Hi guys, I recently bought a Rock PI 4 and installed Armbian Buster with kernel 5.4.6. The os is booting fine but I am facing major performance issues when trying to download from the internet. I have also a Raspberry Pi 4 connected to the same switch (via LAN) and when I execute the following command curl -L http://speedtest.belwue.net/1G > /dev/null I am getting download speed of approx 8MB/s on my Raspberry but only 2MB/s on my Rock PI 4. From connection side and rooting there is no difference. While using the same Armbian version on my Rock64 I am getting the same speed as my Raspberry Pi. Is this a known problem with the Rock PI…

Hi, after solving the WIFI issue on my T4, i've tried to setup an AP. Started to test Armbian_19.11.5_Rockpi-4b_buster_current_5.4.6.img and I could not boot off of the eMMC. So I put Armbian_19.11.5_Rockpi-4b_buster_current_5.4.6.img on an SD card and formatted my eMMC. I was then able to get the Rock Pi 4 to boot successfully. It looks like the kernel can not initialize the eMMC. Here are some messages from dmesg on boot: [ 53.338988] dwmmc_rockchip fe310000.dwmmc: IDMAC supports 32-bit address mode. Hi, in Germany electrical Power ist getting more and more expensive (reaching 30ct per kWh). So I am trying to work out a Desktop Usercase Scenario (Mail, Office, Browsing, Video Streaming, Audio Streaming) on a SBC System. My experience is growing in Using a Manjaro XFCE on the Pi 4B (4GB), Booting from SSD. It works very well, nearly like the former used Deskmini A300 with Athlon 200GE. And I also tried out the Jetson Nano, Ubuntu 18.04. On both Systems you can get a satifsfying Desktop Experience, but the Jetson with ist Cortex A57 Core Base is a bit slower, also while it is used from an micro SD SanDisk A1 Card. For a long time I ve been watching t…

Hey folks, I ordered an Orange Pi 4 a couple weeks ago, and it showed up on Wednesday. Last night I started tinkering around with to see if I could get Armbian up and running on it. First thing I did was to hook up my USB-to-TTL debugger to it (no SD card inserted). But when I powered it on, all I'm getting over the serial connection is garbage. With my other OPi's, I'm used to getting U-Boot messages -- but this was far from that: The garbage settles down after about 30 seconds. When I have it hooked up to my Windows machine, I get a new device called "rk3399-mid" that appears in device manager. I tried grabbing the i…

Hi All, here is a quick howto for flashing a Nanopi M4 V2 I did this using a Linux box and a USB TTL serial cable) 1) Download an image from https://www.armbian.com/nanopi-m4-v2/ 2) Start a terminal 3) cd to the folder containing your download 4) Unzip your download to extract the *.img file 5) Connect an sdcard or eMMC to your pc ( I used a transcend adapter ) 6) Run lsblk to identify your device, in my case it returned /dev/sdc 7) Run mount to ensure it is not mounted and unmount it if necessary ( umount /dev/sdc or umount /dev/sdc1 ) 8) Run dd if =NameOfYourImage.img of=/dev/sdc status=progress 9) When completed …

I have a 4G Rev 2 Rock64 that is running like a champ on current - 5.4.2 as of this writing, as far as USB and Ethernet are concerned. I did have to blacklist UAS for all my USB drives, and now the board is rock solid even with heavy disk and network IO. I do have one problem though, I have no sound. I have the following loaded (automatically): root@chdock:/home/sugata# cat /proc/modules |grep snd snd_soc_rk3328 16384 0 - Live 0xffff800008dc9000 And yet, I get this: root@chdock:/home/sugata# aplay -l aplay: device_list:272: no soundcards found... I searched around this forum and nothing obvious came up. Any ideas?

Hi! I have the problem that when I try to boot with any Kernel other than 4.4.x, U-boot gives me the "Bad ARM64 Image Magic" Error and stops booting. I can build my own 4.4 Kernels without any problem, those will boot fine. But If I try any newer kernel, for example a NEXT Kernel (package linux-image-next-rockchip), or a DEV Kernel (package linux-image-dev-rockchip), or even if I compile my own 5.3 Kernel, a boot attempt always results in the Bad Magic error. I also have this problem when I install a whole 5.3 Armbian Image (for example https://dl.armbian.com/rockpro64/Buster_current_desktop) I have three RK3399-…

The strangest thing happened today. I switched of my rok64 rev.2 and connected to my PC to move the files of my USB HDD. My plan was to change the disk format from NTFS to EXT4. Hi, Tested the current build (Armbian_19.11.3_Rockpi-4b_buster_current_5.3.11_desktop.7z) on a Rock Pi 4 v1.3. Working well so far the past couple of hours. Its an amazing feeling to be able to run the mainline kernel with so little issues. Some minor things: The Red Led keeps on blinking with this build. Earlier it only blinked if there was error while booting. New to this board, so this maybe incorrect. I booted up Radxa image and there also red light was blinking. Sound via 3.5 mm jack not working. Inserted earphone, no output. Sound via HDMI works. Thanks for your work. Edit- System info: aaditya…

Hello, i'm experiencing random reboots on my RockPi 4b. I firstly recognoized this when my Squid Proxy Server was not working anymore because it had no permissions to its var/log/squid directory. What i saw (lsblk) that /var/log/ is only of a size of 50mb. Will that be the cause for the reboots? Does the system crash when the logs are full? My System is a Rock Pi 4b with 32gb emmc storage. Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.4.192-rockchip64 Armbian Release 5.90 (i dont know how to change to the next version as armbian-config does not provide the switch to next button) Output or Armbianmonitor -u http://ix.io/22oZ

I am running last stable armbian with kernel 4.4.192-rockchip64 on emmc - really everything works nice (only thunderbird is very slow) - thx a lot for your work. The only thing I could not figure out, how I can wake up from suspend by keyboard or mouse. The armbian image uses org.freedesktop.login1.suspend to suspend - normally I am used to upower or pm-utils and there it was until now all the time possible to wake up with keyboard. Its quite uncomfortable to wake up the Rock64 with the power button - hidden, very small hole, I just use now a wooden chopstick for wakeup. I have a serious problem as I mentioned in a title Currently I'm using Armbian on my NanoPi M4 and very satisfied its functionality But when I try to use usb3 device (especially camera from ZWO campany, ZWO ASI 178) with it, it doesn't recognize it as USB3 device but USB2 by checking the data transfer speed with "lsusb -t" Then, once I unplug the cable and plug it to the pi again, that device is recognized as USB3 and the data transfer speed becomes much higher. As the other thread is getting a bit cluttered I thought I'd start a new one. Thanks to the good work of @pask and others we now have a working image for the M4 v2. However, despite following instructions to the letter. I can't get the board to boot from the eMMC card, in fact I don't think the board even recognizes the card ( I've tried different ones ) Also not being able to connect via a serial cable is hampering my attempts at debugging the boot process. Cany anyone put up a Muppets guide on the steps required to achieve this ?

Hi. I'm new here and have a small issue. Situation is: I'm using the T4 board for an amateur radio repeater controller. The repeater works in an unmanned relay station 10 kilometers from the my home. To have access by remote even if the boot hangs for some reasons (maintenance mode), I have connected the debug uart (ttyS2) to a serial-to-IP adapter to have access anyway. Because the IP adapter cannot set up to 1.5 MBps, I have reduced the speed down to 115 kbps by changing the kernel argument in the boot.cmd from console=ttyS2,1500000 to console=ttyS2,115200. That worked well with the Armbian 5.69 stretch 4.4.167 kernel. Now I have made…

Hi guys. I've received the NanoPi M4 V2 today. I tried Armbian images for the M4 on SD and eMMC. None boot. So I tried the RockPi4 images since that's got lpddr4 too. That works. Of course no on-board wifi since another chip. So my guess is the lpddr4 isn't supported by the uboot for the M4. It is a nice board. I've got the metal case with NVMe hat too. Looks all very nice. But a bit impractical if you need to acces eMMC. Cheers
