  2. Armbian implements some basic 'system logging' at every startup and shutdown and contains a little utility to provide this collected information combined with some more useful debug info from user installations. All that's needed is executing 'sudo armbianmonitor -u' (or armbian-config --> Software --> Diagnostics) and then all this support related information is uploaded to an online pasteboard service automagically (see example output) How to interpret this wall of text? The output is best read from bottom to top since the most important information is collected during upload: At the bottom /proc/interrupts contents to chec…

  5. I've taken peeks at threads related to hardware decoding (of H.264 and HEVC, mainly) on Allwinner and Rockchip platforms on and off, sometimes dabbled in trying and failing to implement solutions recommended there. Being a complete amateur, I find the topic very opaque and confusing, with various different components that need to interface with each other, be patched in sync, and sometimes change drastically between kernel versions, etc. Today I sat down and read up on these subjects, scouring wikis, documentation, this forum, and assorted other sources to try and understand how this works. In this post I will attempt to compile what I've learned on the different software…

  15. Orange Pi PC+ I have been using an image generated in 2019 (based on Debian 9) to develop code for a project. On the development machine it works well. I moved it to a machine running a custom Armbian build (simply having removed drivers that weren't necessary - sound etc. - and requiring that u-boot not search USB devices before starting the kernel) that was based on the same version (reported as Debian 9). It worked as expected. No probalme there then. Yesterday I rebuilt the Armbian image (now based on Debian 9.12), loaded it on to the client machine and went to run the software. I now get the error; "Inconsistency detected by ld.so: dl-version.c: 224: …

  16. Hello everyone, I encountered a "No space left on device (28)" issue while compiling custom firmware and would like to seek your help. The firmware compilation process works fine under normal circumstances. However, after using the customize-image.sh script to install my own applications, the rootfs size became 3285 MiB, and I encountered the "No space left on device (28)" error during compilation. I modified FIXED_IMAGE_SIZE to 6G and recompiled, but the same issue persisted. After mounting the raw file, I confirmed that no additional files could be added. I suspect there’s some parameter restricting this, but I’m not sure…

  18. Hi, I'm trying to build an image on Windows. But when running compile.sh, I get the following error: [💲|💥] Problem detected [ WSL2 Terminal does not support UTF-8 ] Full log: https://paste.armbian.com/zopitumatu I don't know why this is happening, I've tried both cmd, powershell 5, powershell 7, all with the same result. The log mentions the Windows Terminal in the Microsoft Store should support it, but that already is installed and seems to just open the same Powershell 5, with the same error. Any idea on how to fix this?

  19. I have the same problem. Using Lubuntu 14.04- 0.9.1 img for Orange pi lite. bin2fex in sunxi tools gave me "malformed data" error. using the windows bin2fex gave me "unrecognized GPIO port #12". Since this bin2fex is so critical in setting display, audio, resolution, etc. This bug made my ARM experience very bad. I understand and appreciate all the efforts in the linux community though.

  25. Since 23.08 I had the first part about only community creation, which I already did not understand but now it looks worse as it also mention Buster when I use Bookworm. What can cause this strange information? And what can I try to solve this?

  29. Hi, I am working on a PR[0] to the Armbian build framework. As suggested in the PR, I am trying to use the upstream U-Boot source and apply the required patches[1][2] on top of it. One of the patch series[2] requires a git subtree[3] to be added to the U-Boot source before applying the patch itself. However, it seems that Armbian's build framework first attempts to apply the required patches[4] on the U-Boot source and then calls the pre_config_uboot_target hook[5]. Currently, I've put the code to add the git subtree in the pre_config_uboot_target hook. As a result, the required patch series are not getting applied. Is there any way in which we can co…

  32. I'm using Banana Pi M2 Zero with Armbian Debian GNU/Linux 10 (Buster). Compiled the image myself with the latest source code using the armbin/build repository. I want to be able to do serial communication on pins 8 and 10. I'm looking for something to appear at /dev/ttyAMA0, so I can communicate with it. I saw some other forum posts which mentioned it'll happen on /dev/ttyS0 , however even that is not happening. The serial communication is working via FTDI (using the USB side connected to the Banana Pi), which indicates there is no problem with the other device. This is what the configuration looks like using "sudo minicom -s". +…

  33. ## Description After a fresh installation of Armbian for Rockchip64 (Rock 3A), the system ships with `linux-image-current-rockchip64` version **26.2.1** (kernel 6.18.8), but the corresponding `linux-headers-current-rockchip64` package for version 26.2.1 is **not available** in the public APT repositories. This prevents installation of kernel headers required for DKMS modules, out-of-tree drivers, or any kernel module compilation. ## Steps to Reproduce 1. Hello all, I succeed to boot on sata usb by seting the UUID of the armbian_root from mmcblk1p1 to sda1 I tested several M2 SSD enclosures both NVME and NGFF most of the time, one in the middle, has a USB Hub and micro SDCARD port. Now if the USB enclosures is not connected, we are stuck in initramfs stage because the UIID partition given in /boot/ArmbianEnv.txt does not exist. I changed the UUID of emmc armbian_root (mmcblk1p1) thinking it would be overmapped with partition of S2 usb enclosure (sda1). It is not the case, it will only boot on emmc , ignoring S2 enclosures when mmcblk1p1 and sda1 shares the same UUID. …

I tried to install armbian but with the nand-install-sata script I can't install it on my eMMC memory, since armbian doesn't see i have one. The only thing it offers me is to update the bootloader on the SD card. So i went to /dev/ and my eMMC memory isn't shown there. I just have mmcblk1 witch is my SD card and mmcblk0p1 wich is my armbian partition on the SD card and nothing else. I figured this was due to the fact that maybe this version of armbian didn't support emmc memory, so I tried with the foca…

  54. Hello! I have a stash of OPi H3 boards and it just occurred to me that there's no way to interface them with a storage device in any decent way. What am I missing here??? I also have a lot of 100 GB SATA SSD's, and I thought to myself, wouldn't it be great if each SBC could have its own SSD. But then I realized... how the hell am I going to get any kind of decent IO? If it's not possible with SSD's connected locally, let's forget them and then think, what other storage device can I use so that my OPi boards have some respectable IO device to work with? Please tell me where the gap in my understanding is?! Thanks!

The patch has been submitted for upstream devs LINK And LibreElec also included the patch and will be fixed (finally) in their next beta LINK I wanted to ask if it is possible to include this patch to Armbian kernel (maybe a beta or nightly) in order to make DVBSky S960 work? I did fix it by adding next two lines to /etc/sysctl.conf net.core.rmem_max = 16777216 net.core.wmem_max = 4194304 Second one is that RPC does not start on boot but only after manual restart of service after boot. I believe it's caused because transmission starts before network goes online. I tried to fix it by adding into /lib/systemd/system/transmission-daemon.service [unit] ... It's only when booting, it seems to be unable to boot/stay on most of the time. 1) I put power into pi. 2) The ssd blinks, if it stops blinking, it didn't boot. If it keeps blinking success. The Serial connection is only in the SD Adapter and I cant use it if I'm booting from it, or is there a possibility ?? I was checking devuan.org and this Image is booting the Tablet, with Kernel 4.1x. So I want to debug the Armbian Kernel wit…

  95. Hi everyone, I am trying to set up the Access Point on my Orange Pi Zero running Armbian_20.08.1_Orangepizero_focal_current_5.8.5. I am using the onboard wifi module. I have tried the next approaches: 1) I have tried https://orangepiweb.es/wifi-access-point.php and I can see my board as access point, but I can't connect. (I am receiving AP-STA-DISCONNECTED after handshake complete) 2) I have tried configuring it by sudo armbian-config but dnsmasq fails to start, so I can see my board as access point, but I can't connect. (I am receiving AP-STA-DISCONNECTED after handshake complete) 3) I have tried https://www.ra…

  96. Apologies, the links on how to change the Armbian boot kernel don't lead to any documentation. I am wading through the u-boot documentation tree now, but somebody may have an answer to a simple question. I manage to make my device unbootable by using armbian-config and selecting a development kernel vmlinuz-4.20.0-rockchip64 I have mounted the disk on a ubuntu laptop and I take it u-boot is similar to grub2 in that its not just a case of changing the symlinks Image -> vmlinuz-4.4.167-rockchip64 Uinitrd -> uInitrd-4.4.167-rockchip64 you have to do a grub2-mkconfig command \ grub-update in order to boot strap t…

  97. Hi, Unfortunately I'm not yet allowed to post in the development area. I'm using a rockpro64 with armbian quite successfully, Beside other stuff it has two DVB-C USB sticks connected. But I can only run the kernel dpkg -l | grep linux-image hi linux-image-rockchip64 5.75 arm64 Linux kernel, version 4.4.174-rockchip64 since further 4.4 kernel (e.g the latest one linux-image-rockchip64_5.90_arm64 (4.4.182) does not have the CONFIG_VIDEO_EM28XX set to m as before. What are actually the plans in this regard. Is there some good reason that is was disable…

  98. I've started playing around with gpio, and thus far I don't have problems with any of the following: Access via the WiringOP C or Python bindings Access via /sys/class/gpio_sw However I can't seem to get the access via /sys/class/gpio to work. According to http://linux-sunxi.org/GPIOI need to write the pin number as defined in the fex file to /sys/class/gpio/export for 3.4 kernel (mainline kernel codes the pin number). For WiringOP pin #1 (physical pin #12 on the header), this is PD14, which is gpio_pin_5 according to the fex file, however the following does not light an LED connected to the pin: # echo "5" >/sys/class/gpio/export # echo "out" >/sys/class…

  99. I have a project where I would like to connect two project boards together with an Ethernet cable. No router, no hub, just two boards with a patch of cat5 between them. In order to make this work I need to get a Link-local IPv4 address on each (RFC 3927). I believe this is done with avahi, but I'm unsure if avahi is simply name resolution or if it performs the link-local address allocation as well. Anyway here's what I've tried: sudo apt-get install avahi-daemon avahi-discover libnss-mdns # sudo reboot -r now # systemctl script on reboot to log IP to file with `hostname -I` What I find is that when I'm hooked up to my router `hostname -I` reports wha…
