  1. Hello. Sorry for my English, I use google-translate. Maybe someone already has experience and uses script / program to create a backup SD card entirely in the form of an image on an external storage (HDD, USB-flash), or over the network? I am at the moment once a week turn off the system (I have a banana pi), remove the SD card and make a copy of the system image (using imagewriter.exe). I want to automate the process, and without removing the SD card from the board. It's real? Many thanks!

  2. Hi there, I would like to have a Docker container accessing the GPIO on the Orange Pi Zero. For the time being, I'm using OPi.GPIO as a library to make a LED blink, but will use Java-Periphery and SSD1306 later on. As for now, the LED is blinking, all is fine. What I would like to do now it to create a Docker image from Armbian doing the same thing, so I was thinking of starting the image from scratch with Armbian root directory. How could I find/make a minimal Armbian root directory to build my Docker image upon? Thanks.

  3. Hi! Have limited knowledge in linux, all self learned so bear with me if I sometimes sound like an i**ot in my wording. I have used lots of different Raspberry pi's but since they are near to impossible to get your hands on I figured I'd try out some of the alternate boards. Got myself a nanoPiNeo2, orangePiZero2 and an orangePiPC2 just for the fun of it. I have tried this on the nanoPi and the opiZero2 and run into the same problems, havent even opened the opiPC2 yet but I suspect it will be the same problem on that board. Downloaded armbian for each separate board (instead of debian) because I want to use the same system o…

I am looking for some guidance on where to start reading on creating my own image for a RK3126, I have already grabbed a backup of the current eMMC image with rkflashtool (system, backup, kernel, boot, uboot, metadata etc.) I have mounted the system folder & grabbed the firmware out of there already as well & the firmware from https://github.com/rockchip-linux/rkbin I am not asking for a step by step guide on this, I have intermediate skills concerning Linux. Been using it for 15 years, many Arch installs, completed LFS successfully once. I am just looking for a nudge in the right direction so I can get started on this. rkflashtool: info: rkf…

  5. Ok, so I am bit of a linux noob. I understand the basics, and compiled my first image from source today, and hey it works! What I am trying to do is, build a image that has the packages that I need preinstalled. Packages that I need are(nfs-kernel-server, samba, speedtest-cli, openvpn, and a few other) I tend to muck up my installation quite frequently, as I play around with settings too much. What I had been doing is cloning the sd card with dd, but I am looking for a better more reliable way, that gives a fresh install each time. I didn't know whether I could edit the list of packages that are installed while compiling the image from source. Also, Tha…

  7. Hi, We are testing our orange pi one in critical external environments like warehouses, manufacturing and other. In some cases, even if the good case there is a misconnection between the sd card and the orange pi one. Connected in ssh i can access the orange pi but a lot of command cannot responde anymore, like ls, top, htop, tail and others. Even the reboot shows me the input-output-error, and the only way to reboot the hardware is using "echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger". When this happens, i tried create a cron with 'at' or background jobs using sh like './script.sh &' with the content "echo b > /proc/sysrq-trigger" but still not works. …

Hello, as i didn't found a perfect UI for my cubie and me and i always liked the look and feel of crunchbang, i developed a little script in the past to bring #! to my cubietruck. It should also work on every other debian based image, but i mainly targeted igor's image since it seemed to be the best base to start from. NOTICE: crunchbang has EOL-status, no updates coming from them! I mainly use it even though, because its very fast and stable on my cubie. This script could be injected into building process or can be run on a fresh 'install'. Just use the get_crunchy.sh script and relax or download the image from second post. It's tested on debian jessie and wheezy…

Could someone remind me of the status of the H3 crypto engine, both hardware (capabilities, aes-ni ?) and software (mainline or vanilla kernels) ? I've been testing openvpn on an amlogic s905 box (still need to fix my beelink x2 problems) and as expected i'm hitting a cpu bottleneck. i've been able to achieve around 60Mbps (Blowfish-cbc, usb hdd, ext4) but openvpn being single threaded the cpu load maxes out thus limiting openvpn's bandwidth. Unfortunately as with most vpn providers you can't tweak all parameters and so, changing the tun-mtu size is not possible and has to stay at the default 1500 value. I will perform some tests on my beelink x2 or opi pc…

  13. Hi guys, we are working on custom board based on A20, similar to Olinuxino MICRO. Our firmware is Buildroot based, with enabled Cryptodev and openssl with -DHAVE_CRYPTODEV, -DUSE_CRYPTODEV_DIGESTS. I know that we should not expect a drastic performance gain, but I wonder if this thing works at all, since I do not see any load on system level while the user space process still utilizes 100% of CPU on one core. Yes, openssl performance test reports some better numbers after "modprobe cryptodev", but not so good as other people report. I suspect that something is missing. I do not see interrupts with number assigned to crypto-engine in dts. crypto: crypto-engine@1c…

In both instances, I follow instructions as per the official pages, but when I try to do the installation, apt-get will report that "E: Package 'docker-ce' has no installation candidate" for example, even though it is present searching in the cache. The module I'm talking about is qcaspi. This issue doesn't occur on RPi so I'm thinking it could be an Armbian issue or an oversight by me. Any help please?

Greetings, I'm attempting to apply a custom patch during the build process for a bananapi-m2-zero. (specifically, DTS changes) I went into the kernel source, and created a diff, and put it in the user customized patches directory. Unfortunately, the patch failed. So, I dug into it, and discovered the source changes because of patches in the armbian patches/ directory. So, instead I started the build, let these patches apply,, and aborted the build. Then I created the diff again. Sadly, the patch is still being rejected. Now, I might be able to fight with this, and make it work. But the next time I pull a new update it could be broken a…

  53. Hi, I am using Armbian 5.90 on an BananaPi as a RTL-TCP server for an RTL-SDR stick which plugs in the USB port. Everything work fine since more than a year. Now since one of the latest updates, the RTL-TCP server doesn't work anymore 24/7. After a while, I can not connect to the server anymore. I studied the logs and it seems, that kernel/udev/upowerd powers off the USB-port where the RTL-SDR stick is plugged. The stick reinitializes, but the binding of the stick to the running server gets lost. There seems to be something new to the kernel/system which cyclically drops the USB connection to my stick.
