Well i know some of u like to watch data ..... Came allong this git, and is pritty awesome 2 check it out here: http://netdata.firehol.org/ Worx fine on a bana-armbian (if moderators dont like gifs just remove it np) Edit: tweaks for embedded devices Running netdata in embedded devices Embedded devices usually have very limited RAM resources available. There are 2 settings for you to tweak: update every, which controls the data collection frequency history, which controls the size of the database in RAM By default update every = 1 and history = 3600. This gives you an hour of data with per second updates. If you set update every = 2 and hist…

Hello. I'm using armbian on my orange win plus. I'm using it with an external hard drive, which has 3 TB of disk space. My orange has a sd card with 32 gigs of storage. I'd appreciate some advice for using an Orange Pi running usbip as a host to extend a UPS's USB connection to a Windows desktop client on the same subnet. I've done a little research and from what I'm reading this should work but I'd like to hear which Orange Pi, arm OS and usbip version you recommend. Thanks!

Hi All We are having a problem where on booting the /var/log is filled and uses all mmc storage space. Does anyone know how to intervene in te booting process to stop this mapping and filling up of the fs? This issue sometimes causes the device to fail to boot properly and remain inaccessible. (It may indeed be that an unclean shutdown is causing this problem). Booting up properly is essential for us and we do not want or need these logs . We send the logs over the server, so capture these anyways. This posting refers to our same issue: Any help much appreciated. Thank you for Armbian! Best wishes Eric

Hi, I just upgraded from 4.3 to 4.4 using apt-get update && apt-get dist-upgrade. Unfortunately the device is headless and I don't have a monitor. I cannot login over SSH any more, I get asked for password, but after entering the connection timeouts. When I mount the SD-Card on my laptop to find out what's going on I found a ~350MB /var/log/kern.log, repeating only these lines: ... Hello, I'm planning to replace my old (but very good) Banana PI (the first model, it should be called M1 if I remember). I basically use it as my personal cloud server, for some remote daily backups and for messing things up Now I'd like to replace it with something newer and maybe I'll use the Banana just for experimental purpose. So I searched the internet but can't find something that really fits my needs, maybe somebody with more knowledge than me can give me an advice. It should have, at least: - SATA (which is a feature I can't find in many boards ) - Gigabit Ethernet (a must) - USB 3 (at least 1 port) - 1 GB of RAM (2 are b…

Hi everybody, One really simple question: I got to work with wvdial and establish a ppp connection with OPi 2g-IoT but now I would like to initiate the board with the wvdial included, so if the modem 2g does not connect the board keeps trying till the conection goes smoothly. So far I've done this: sudo nano /etc/rc.local and inserted this line: sleep 60; sudo wvdial & My results are: Sometimes, mostly, it connects and works properly but there are few times like 2 out of 10 that the wvdial does not work and the board initiates without it, which I do not want at all. Hi, what options do I have to access the GPIO from Python3 as a non-root user? I'm building a project based on the Rock Pi S and I have everything working (as root, i2c, GPIO) on the Radxa Ubuntu 18.04 image but as I wanted to future proof the project by using the 5.x kernel. I started with the latest Armbian_20.11_Rockpi-s_focal_current_5.9.10_minimal and enabled the i2c bus from armbianEnv.txt (rk3308-i2c1) (was already active) because the armbian-config didn't work. So I managed to get the oled display to work with the same library (luma.oled) I used on the 4.4 kernel. Then I wanted to install libmraa that I used on 4.4 but noticed was not …

Hi All, I have a strange prob regarding Armbian on my Banana Pi. I have installed vanilla Jessie on my BaPi (1st modell with an SD, not uSD). I have also installed tvheadend, lighttpd and the kernel-nfs-server (beyond the packages already in the image). The BaPi is connected to a switch (no WiFi), and it is headless. When it starts all works as expected. But after some hours logging in via SSH stops working. The sshd itself runs, if I try to login (with pubkey auth) I can see that the connection to the sshd is successfully established, but when the shell should be started it hangs forever: debug1: kex: server->client aes128-ctr hmac-sha2-256 none debug1: kex:…

First off this is not a Rockpro64 it is a Rock64 Ver. 2 which the tags field would not let me enter. A couple years ago when I first started playing with the Rock64, I briefly used armbian as the OS. The flickering video was annoying so later I tried Manjaro which worked fairly well. Recently the (Manjaro/Arch) updates (as well as latest images) completely break the HDMI output. Since the system was rendered usless, I downloaded the latest Armbian Jammy hoping for better results. The image loaded from SD fine, I did updates manually fine, and it rebooted fine. The only problem I experience is that that anoying HDMI video flicker. It's worse when there is any s…

When using the dts editor in armbian-config, a different dts is shown than the one that I defined in extlinux.conf. For my RK3188 based minix neo X7, I decompiled an existing dtb from boot/dtb into a dts file using dtc on my Linux computer. I edited this into a new dts and compiled it into a dtb. I placed this under the name rk3188-x7.dtb in my boot/dtb folder, referenced to it in extlinux.conf and my system booted using this dtb (checked in dmesg). However, when I try to use armbian-config to edit my dtb/dts, it shows a different dts. Any idea how or where to change this so I can easily work on my dts?

Hi all I need to develop a customized application on the OrangePi that uses this Allwinner H3 chip. So everything about this is the standard Armbian, with one change- I need to add security code into the loader to secure the board Prior to this I have only ever developed superloop C code on processors such as these i.e. no OS present. In those cases we had the development tools from the vendor or a JTAG probe. What I need to do is I need to customize the loader code to do certain security tasks. My question is, where is this loader sitting? (presumably its in the FLASH), and, is its source part of this distribution? Also, when they ma…

Hello Everyone, Yesterday Domoticz released a new version but requires now GLIBC-2.28. Armbian Bionic has GLIBC-2.27. Users with a Raspberry Pi need to upgrade from Debian Stretch to Buster. But what i know is Armbian for the OrangePi One plus based of Ubuntu 18.04 what is based on Debian Buster. So in my opinion it should be possible to run GLIBC-2.28 instead of GLIBC-2.27. But the question is: how could i fix that?? Thank you for all help!

Hello, Armbian devs, I have customized a kernel for an existing Armbian system. I wish I can replace the kernel on the system directly without going throught Armbian build system. According to what Martinayotte told me, there are 3 symbolic link to kernel image, dtbs, and uInitrd actually to boot. While I have done first 2, and I know that I have to do "mkimage" to generate a u-boot compatible uinitrd for sure. But... How can I produce the original initramfs, first? I trace the log of Armbian build system and found out it's generated by update-iniramfs command. But the environment is wiped out after it's done. I'm not sur…

I am Running Orange Pi Zero (first generation), latest Ubuntu mainline, upgraded, latest docker + latest minisatip image 1 USB DVB-C TV stick T230 + latest V4L firmware CPU shoots to 100-ish % for all 4 cores when I try to tune, no picture. Then I found this out by accident : while upgrading the kernel and tuning at the same time : It helps to have more CPU load, so : I made a bash script to load one core 100%, avoiding I/O (htop confirms 100%) And now tuning works : 2 FTA HD channels ( 30Mbps ) looks pretty good. Temp is no problem, CPU o…

Hi, I started armbian from SD card on a Libre.Computer Le Potato board. Runs like hell and seems much more robust than the Ubuntu 18.04 img that I used before. But how can I get it on my 32 Gb eMMC (5.)??? E.g. the Ubuntu image of Le Potato has a script called ``lc_distro_transfer``. Is there anything similar for armbian? Note: For the Ubuntu image, one has to mount the eMMC after the booting from the SD card has started; kind of ugly, but otherwise the Potato tries to start from the eMMC. Best, Robert

I've just installed armbian to Pinebook Pro's eMCC using the full-disk encryption helper script from https://github.com/mmgen/mmgen-geek-tools The said script was executed inside an armbian installation in an sd card with official Pinebook Pro image. The eMCC installation almost worked - it boots to graphical desktop, however there's no wifi and bluetooth. I don't have any other way to connect the laptop to internet. I guess the way to fix this is to boot the sd card again because it has internet, then open the encrypted disk manually and chroot to its root, then run some command - but I don't know which one! Please help.

Hi, I'm trying to run with a PREEMPT_RT kernel to get a real-time (lowest latency as possible) performance. But in addition to the PREEMPT_RT patch, I want to make sure the system doesn't go to sleep (or using power save modes) to avoid additional wake-ups latencies (that the PREEMPT_RT patch cannot reduce). I've reviewed the AXP209 datasheet and tried to understand if I can somehow disable the system from going to sleep, but I didn't find the answer for that. I do know that register 0x31 can control the entrance to sleep mode if we write '1' to bit-3, but I can't prevent other drivers or applications from doing it. Question: Is th…

I need it to be able to boot remotely (tftp) or from usb to make backup, restore without remove sdcard or lunch a recovery mode remotely by lora and a little uC speaking on uart of OPI. With mainline uboot it's easy to lunch openwrt on a ramdisk without mounting sdcard. If i can do the same (mainline uboot) with legacy kernel, i m happy. Thanks

Hello, I've bought a USB Bluetooth adaptor on Amazon and wanted to try it on my Armbian device, an Orange Pi Zero. The installed system is Armbian Focal (Ubuntu). That adaptor seems to have the Realtek rtl8761a chip, according to the error message in syslog. The firmware could not be found. It should be included in the "firmware-realtek" package but that doesn't exist. I couldn't find anything else that provides that firmware. That USB adaptor has an average rating, a second one I've also ordered has a better rating. Both have the same chip inside. Both don't work on a current Windows 10 because the unsigned driver from Realtek (to be downloaded fr…

Hello folks, I have completed my Armbian NTP server based on the wonderful little NanoPi Neo3. However something bothers me a bit, i.e. how much delay or latency is in eth0 (It is a 1Gbs port). By checking the default eth0 settings (ethtool -c eth0) I have the parameters below. In particular rx-usec = 327usec means that when a packet is received, the IRQ to alert the CPU can be delayed up to 327usec. With these settings on the nanopi (NTP server) I get about 1msec delay on the NTP client (Windows PC). By cutting the rx-usecs to 35 usecs I get a delay on the client of about 450usec, so a massive improvement and 30% faster than rpi 4. At the mo…

Hi guys. Igor if you are reading this, I'm Paul H. on the facebook Opi board. Just wanted to give you guys a heads up that I think something is breaking with the recent builds. Subsequent apt-get installs gave me nodm errors. The desktop is not booting at all. So then I decided to move to a cubietruck and did the same thing, except it boots into the desktop and…

Hello. First, I have an LTS board that provides only 3.05 on the 3.3 pins. Is it normal ? Anyway, in case this was the issue, I have built a new voltage regulator, and now supply the DHT22 and pullup resistor with 3.60V My issue is simple: when plugged on normal 1W bus, the DHT22 kills the bus, and makes other devices non working. I have moved all other devices on a new bus, leaving the DHT on a bus I know works fine. Some people mentionned the DHT is not compliant with official 1W libraries, and can not be recognised with normal timings, so, special libs are required. I have removed param_w1_pin=PA06 for the hysical pin 7, and installe…

I made a custom A20 board of which sch is very close to lime2 for a project (retrostone2) and I can't use USB0 as a classic USB port. The three USB (0 1 2) are all connected to regular USB type A connectors. No OTG used. However I can't get the USB0 to work. USB1 and USB2 works without issue. But USB0 will not recognize keyboard/any peripheral. I think it's probably because of OTG detect pins. I looked at the DTS, but I am having trouble understanding how OTG is emplemented there, how to unactivate it and just activate a classic USB port. Any ideas?

I see a lot of tutorials online and they all have seems to have different ways of going about making a share and it seems most of them are logged into a user as opposed to root. I'm logged in to root through ssh so that might the the cause of many of my issues I believe. I did a simple apt install samba and it seems to be running fine. I see other tutorials recommending you install "smbclient" and "cifs-utils", is that necessary? Some of the tutorials also say to add user groups and to add settings to the firewall. Yes, I managed to do this. Luckily I managed to re-enable the GDM3 graphical console on-start-up by using the debug serial port and then using the GUI through the TV to put the tick back to enable networking. Yep, very much a noob mistake. So, the question is when networking is disabled so eth0 and wlan0 disappear, leaving only lo, how do I get eth0 and wlan0 back just using the command line? I can't easily find how to do this. I've looked, I've searched and now .... help! :-) (I do also have the ability to put the MicroSD card into my laptop, so maybe it would be simpler to do that and change some configuration files to re-enable networking?) …
