Hello, new here. I'm trying to build a headless environment for my ORDOID N2 based on a stable Debian (hence Buster), but I need some packages which aren't in the Buster repo (e.g. a CLang >7). I've tried following some instructions I found for adding Bullseye testing repo, and it makes the packages available, but the installation doesn't go well. Is this an unreasonable thing to attempt? Can anyone offer any guidance for how to get newer packages onto my Buster build? (anyone know when Bullseye will become the stable release?)

I was trying to help a student download new C4 images and he gets 'Download Error.' Confirmed at my place - Twice I got 'Unable to download file securely' message but mostly 'Download Failed' on direct download. Didn't try all boards but several have same issue. Chrome on Linux x86 (Mint) and XU4 armbian. HTTP vs HTTPS on direct download? Didn't try the torrent downloads. Torrents work fine. Sorry if I put this in the wrong forum :] Edit: if I hit 'Keep' it still shows download error.

  8. Hi, what options do I have to access the GPIO from Python3 as a non-root user? I'm building a project based on the Rock Pi S and I have everything working (as root, i2c, GPIO) on the Radxa Ubuntu 18.04 image but as I wanted to future proof the project by using the 5.x kernel. I started with the latest Armbian_20.11_Rockpi-s_focal_current_5.9.10_minimal and enabled the i2c bus from armbianEnv.txt (rk3308-i2c1) (was already active) because the armbian-config didn't work. After switching to Armbian (Focal - Buster , etc), i have problem with the power button that does not work anymore. The images were released for the specific board, but although the power button doesnt work. Additional, the installed SPI LCD, when powered off using raspbian, the backlight was deactivated (so power on GPIO was also off) Now with Armbian, even if i shutdown via command, the backlight remains on. 45. Hi guys, I try to reinstall my tvheadend, but unfortunately it always tells me suddenly some depencies which I can't solve. libhdhomerun4 (>= 20200521) But it's installed and in Buster stable only available: libhdhomerun4:armhf (20180327-1) When i try to install it manuelly, then there is the next depency to libc-bin and so on... a never ending story. Actually tvheadend worked already quite well, but suddenly it stopped working. So I thought maybe it's the best idea to reinstall tvheadend. And now there is even bigger trouble.

Hi I have used Armbian quite a bit now for various projects with great success and even debugged my own hard-to-solve issues. I am considering using an H3 based board (OrangePi + 2E) to replace the cheap junk media player I use. Incidentally Armbian will run on that device, but I am not sure what the video support is like- its a RockChip RK3xxx series SoC. Now, out of the box, Armbian (Buster, Focal, etc..) video playback stutters on Full HD (720p and up) content, particularly at full screen. I understand this is because I need to install a binary blob driver for the GPU? I've done this on normal desktop PCs before running Ubuntu, which is very easy to do, h…

  71. If this is the wrong place to ask, please feel free to redirect me to another location. I'm thinking about using an SBC to create an application-specific coprocessor. A laptop would stream h.264/h.265 2kx2.5k yuv420p compressed video thru USB to the SBC (functioning as a USB gadget with separate power supply) and the SBC would decompress the video frames, apply a sequence of affine transforms to each (decompressed) image, and stream the warped, decompressed images back to the host. This would use the SBC hardware-assisted VPU decompression and GPU for warp processing, and the Arm CPU side would manage the YUV420p-RGB conversion and buffered super-speed USB t…

In the past I used a lower end Sandisk's and used external flash drive with nand-sata-install to move system due to endurance. What is the status as of today? Are Sandisk Ultra A1's better than flash drives (i.e. not special "high endurance" ones). I need to ask because the installation is not easy to reach (another part of the city) and current problems may be because of flash failure (didn't get my hand on the devices yet). Any pointers will be much appreciated. PS: I found this today, very interesting read... https://www.delkin.com/technology/flash-endurance/

  91. I'm running the newest Arbian Buster Kernel (Linux version 5.8.14-sunxi) on a Orange Pi Zero LTS. I can't get a DS18B20 running over days of experimeting. I read a lot in this forum, followed the suggestions of martinayotte and others, no success. The frustration/desperation begins to rise. 92. I've configured and connected to a wifi network just fine, but I want to change the config non-interactively. The config isn't in /etc/wpa_supplicant/wpa_supplicant.conf or anywhere else I'd expect, and https://github.com/armbian/config/ only mentions hostapd. Where's the config stored? Edit: /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/[my SSID]

Hi! I've been running two sbc (Odroid HC2) for about 1,5 years. I recently realised that the os it is running on is outdated (Debian Stretch with Armbian Linux 4.14.150-odroidxu4). There is a nextcloud instance running on it and I really (!) like the stability of my setup. So far, I've had one (1) crash in 1,5 years on a system that is running 24/7, maybe heat related in the hot summer. Reboot automatically once a week, nightly off-site backup, login via ssh-keys. So my question is...: Shall I update and if yes shall I do this from a fresh install or is there a built-in way? Thanks!

  96. I am trying to update a Lamobo R1 with armbian 5.31 it's kernel from source. I have compiled and installed it (v5.9)I have also updated the initramfs, but still when I boot I see on screen with uname-r the older kernel 4.9.7. Is there any other thing I'm missing so the bootloader boots with the newest installed kernel?

  98. The current kernel version of the board is 4.9.7, and I am trying to update it to 5.9 with the Real Time Kernel patch. For compilation I first got the default sunxi config as follows: make ARCH=arm CROSS_COMPILE=arm-linux-gnueabihf- sunxi_defconfig After that I enabled Expert Mode to be able to select the Preempt RT option in General Options of the make menuconfig. After that I started compiling, and after a while I got the following error: DTC arch/arm/boot/dts/sun4i-a10-a1000.dtb In file included from arch/arm/boot/dts/sun4i-a10-a1000.dts:46:0: arch/arm/boot/dts/sun4i-a10.dtsi:44:41: fatal error: dt-bindings/thermal/thermal.h: No suc…

Hello Armbian, how does kernel update procedure work? There is the script [1] that indicates that kernel was updated. Is that updating procedure automatic? When does that happen? Has it user under the control? Many thanks for clarification. Rostislav [1] https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/master/packages/bsp/common/etc/profile.d/armbian-check-first-login-reboot.sh
