Hi, this is a problem that has persisted on my Orange Pi H2+ Board (running Armbian) for quite some time now. At one stage I thought I had resolved the issue, but now since an update to some unrelated software, said software no longer works. I have tracked this back to the locale settings, which, for all intents and purposes, don't exist. I have tried a variety of fixes, such as trying to set Locale using the armbian-config , but Locale remains adamantly blank. I can SSH into the board (which is where I ran the arm config program, as well as the following commands). I tried dpkg-reconfigure locales but I only get told the following: pe…

  6. I'm running Armbian 20.08.1 (Ubuntu) in NanoPi NEO3, and after running sbc-bench,sh benchmark, the temperature does not revert to the idle temperature for several hours until exactly 4am. The system was idle all that time, until a small CPU usage spike at 4am. That's because it rebooted at that time, maybe due to a short power failure. So what confuses me a lot is why the idle temperature will get back to around 60C only after a reboot. 11 hours of idle time would not do it, but a simple reboot would magically drop the temperature by close to 15C.

  8. Hi friends, I've been away from SBC's (and you) for two years. With covid-19 at hand and all family at home remote working/learning, I wanted to redesign my home-office network. I bought two managed switches (Zyxel 1200GS-8) in order to introduce VLANs, transformed the office server to a router etc. I try to build a SBC gateway between public and home network but got myself into trouble. I'm working on this for three days now but couldn't get it working. I messed around a lot and got lost, need second (and more) eyes to debug it. Here is the network layout: About the gateway: OPi PC 2 ( has 1Gbps port connected to home NW) augmented with a …

Hello, According to the changelogs on https://docs.armbian.com/Release_Changelog/, the 20.08 version on September upgrade the EspressoBin to the Kernel 5.6 and the next version 20.08.3 it was updated to the 5.8 kernel. When I go to the archives for the Espressobin (https://archive.armbian.com/espressobin/archive/) I cannot find the 5.6 version. Is there any reasons for that or is a missing link? Kind regards, Fernando

The .img checksum downloaded with the image and the checksum I ran were the same. When I check the online checksum here on armbian.com under downloads, sha, TODAY, the checksum is different. Is there any reason for me to believe that my original checksum and download may have been corrupted? Hello everyone, I have a nanopi r2s running the latest minimal focal image, and I'm having trouble with the network configuration. Context: I have an intranet connected to the LAN port (lan0), and my home network connected to the WAN port (eth0). The intranet does not connect to the internet, and both networks have functional DHCP servers on different IP ranges. For some reason the system thinks it should try to access the internet via my intranet, which is definitely not going to work. Suppose the intranet is 10.0.0.0/24, how can I tell the system to use this interface if and only if I'm accessing addresses that falls under this address …

  24. I have two HC1s both running Armbian 10. Both of them respond to uname -r with: 4.14.187-odroidxu4 Yesterday, I rebooted one of them, and immediately started seeing errors. The other HC1 still had a directory /lib/modules/4.14.187-odroidxu4. Prior to the reboot both systems were working. How can this happen? My quick solution was to copy the 4.14.187-odroidxu4 directory from the working HC1 to the failed HC1, which solved the problems, at least for the time being. But what is the correct so…

  28. QUESTION: I downloaded the BUSTER image (19.11.6 / 5.4.8) .img. In my .GNUPG directory, there is only an empty 'private keys' directory. Is this supposed to be like this or should there be 2 'text' documents next to the 'private keys' directory? One of my former buster downloads from a year ago or so, I know there were 2 simple text documents in the .gnupg directory. I am trying to learn how to send an encrypted message using gpg, but haven't been successful, yet. Orangepi pi 2 images do not launch. In appearance and specifications, the Orangepi PC 2 and mini 2 are almost identical. https://linux-sunxi.org/Xunlong_Orange_Pi_Mini_2. However, the specification for the mini 2 exists, although the manufacturer himself does not provide it on its main website. Could you add an introduction to the orange pi mini 2 board, with the old 3.4 kernel, so that you can build a system? Or maybe someone has some archival image to share?

  46. Hello, In case you haven't heard about this yet, the fact that Armbian Buster Current comes with a 5.8 kernel means it suffers from this Debian bug: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=964926 which us caused by combining this kernel version (as well as future ones) with systemd built using older kernel headers. This bug is mostly harmless but it does at the very least prevent Ansible from managing services on affected systems due to 'systemctl show' exiting with a non-zero exit code. Unfortunately with the official Debian Buster kernel version being 4.19 it is unlikely that this will be fixed on their end.

  50. Hi. I am digging many things with armbian so I install fresh armbian and many applications so many times. So I am making a long script to install many applications and edit many configuration. When it asked "Yes/On" on text prompt, I use "#echo yes | apt install vim". It works well. But when I install samba, it ask text prompt "yes/no" at first and then with dialog box "yes/no". So I tried "#echo yes | echo no | apt install samba". But it doesn't work. How can I send "yes/no" to dialog box in bash shell??

As stated in the documentation https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-install-to-emmc-nand-sata-usb It appears to be quite simple but my question is, I already have everything installed and running, with the software I need etc. Will this pose an issue or should I re-flash and do it straight away? 57. Hello, Today I found that the "serial-getty@ttyS0.service" service restarts every minute. It says "serial-getty@ttyS0.service: Succeeded." in the syslog/journal and then starts again, so it exited with code 0. The restart counter is already at 3085, so it's been like that for 2 days. No output is logged from the service itself. So I looked up its start command and ran it interactively. Again, with no output, after a minute, it returned with code 0. So I straced that thing and saw that it did lots of things, then print "Password:" somewhere, wait a while and then print "Login timed out after 60 second" and exit with code 0. strace /sbin/a…

I am copying a folder from one drive to another. The transfer operation encounters duplicate files and ask me to Replace, Replace All, Skip, Skip All ,etc. Some of the files may be the same filename but different file-size (e.g., one is bigger than the other). If I choose Skip All, will Armbian Skip regardless of file-size? Or, if I select Skip All, will it show another message when it encounters same filename but different filesize?

Flashing odroidc4 images, each installation gets an identical IP address of '00:50:43:84:fb:2f' as specified in https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/7d758026b57380b17b6337e23b053db01c7e0b3d/config/bootenv/meson.txt This gets especially cumbersome with encrypted rootfs. Is there any way to override this without having to rebuild the image? Ideally the hw MAC address would be used, but being able to configure it through a simple change of the boot parameters after flashing would also work.
