Hey. I don't know if this is the correct board. In another section i got a red warning, and i understand it in a way, to absolute not post anything in there. On the downloadpage for the Odroid HC4 i'm able to download this version: Armbian_21.08.9_Odroidhc4_focal_current_5.10.81_minimal.img.xz with this link: https://redirect.armbian.com/region/EU/odroidhc4/Focal_current_minimal But with "apt update ; apt upgrade" my HC4 stays on "Armbian 21.08.8 Focal with Linux 5.10.81-meson64" Do i have to do something else? Best regards, Tuffi

After upgrade to Bullseye 5.15.26 I can't enable spi-dev on my board. Previously I used Buster 5.3.9 and everything worked well, after upgrade /dev/spidev0.0 dissappeared. Board is working fine (reinstalled 5.3.9 and SPI working). Is there any trick which need to be made to enable it ? armbianmonitor.txt

I am trying to build an old debian stretch image for checking my BananaPi M3 boards. I had it and Jessie running fine for years, but buster is causing issues with soft boot and reboots failing. So wanted to check the boards integrity with stretch. I have tried git checkout -b v20.02 remotes/origin/v20.02 which I thought was around the right time but I am just getting Buster being offered. I am using Ububtu Jammy for building.

Hi, trying to nut out the problem of being unable to restart after installation of the OMV Wireguard plugin. I have removed the wireguard-tools package and installed the 4 rockchip64 edge 6.1.11 packages. It took me a while to realise that armbian-config was not installing the headers when selected but wondering if there's a necessary order for installation ie linux-source-6.1.11-edge-rockchip64 first maybe? Sorry I realise how tedious it is supporting folks who are feeling around in the dark but I've wasted so many hours starting from scratch I either have to give up or ask for a tip. TIA

Hi, I'm new to Armbian and this is my first time ever compiling any Linux system. I'm sorry to bother you with such a basic question, but I just don't understand. I want to enable a kernel module. Upon browsing the kernel configuration utility menus, I don't see this functionality anywhere. But if I run search with '/', I find this, this is the module I want: How do I now proceed to enable it? Or make sure that it's enabled (if present by default)? Also, what's the meaning of =y and =m? It's listed in the resulting .config file as =y, just as the search shows.

I am trying to get BigTreeTech Pi TFT43 display working on a Radxa Rockpi 3A I have. I put the latest Armbian image on the rockpi, but I'm at a loss as to how I configure the device tree to make the screen work. I have verified that the screen does work on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ while using BTT's instructions here, but those instructions don't seem to translate to Armbian. All other examples I have found seem to be specific to the SBC vendor's custom branches. It looks like the vdd_mipi regulator is not enabled so I guess that should be the first step, how do I enable it? Thanks for your help!

After upgrade two of my boards to mainline (4.14.51-sunxi) I have noticed that simple command apt list basically stopped working. It stuck at "Listing ..." (at this moment 1 core of CPU is utilized in 100%). Now I run it in background to see if eventually it will be completed... So far (15 minutes)... nothing. apt list --installed is also very slow, but after some time it gives results. However, it is much slower than on "default" (3.4.113-sun8i) Can anybody check it and reconfirm?

Dear all, I'm frequently losing GPIO interrupts on various boards, which seem to be caused by bursty processes. When I shield the cores that have those interrupts according to /proc/interrupts with e..g. "cset shield --cpu=0,1" , way less interrupts are lost (e.g. for 4kHz interrupts one in hours instead of once per minute). Most of these (ADC) interrupts are handled by my own kernel module, but couldn't find how to restrict them to e.g. CPU0, and they are not movable using /proc/irq/*/smp_affinity. HomeCT1:~:% grep ads /proc/interrupts 66: 166559 0 0 0 sunxi_pio_edge 1 Edge ads131a04 162: 27…

Hello everybody, is it possible in u-boot (boot.ini) to make a user input and let the user choose from A or B and according to the choice load a particular uInitrd? In case a non-valid answer is given a default answer should be used. Best of all would be if I could implement a time-out. When user does not make input answer B should be selected. I would know how to do this in bash but is that also possible in boot.ini somehow?

I am new to armbian and R2S, and would like to ask for guides of the way to set up hotspot. With some searching, I installed 22.02 Focal in R2S and tried to set up the WiFi hotspot via armbian-config. With the default SSID of AP mode in armbian-config, my device could find a WiFi network called ARMBIAN, but I cound not connect to it due to 'wrong password', although I typed in the default password 12345678 correctly. The armbian-config interface showed that my USB wifi adapter has got a chip of rtl8821cu. However, the lsusb command returned a different information of the wifi adapter, as shown below. root@nanopi-r2s:~# lsu…

Hello Armbian community I just acquired a Raxda Rock 3A with a Raxda Wireless module A8 (RTL8852BE) card. The Ubuntu distribution from Raxda seems to work pretty well, but it's not very recent, which is why I wanted to try Armbian! The current version (Armbian 23.02 Jammy Kernel 6.1.y, Size: 579Mb, Release date: Feb 27, 2023) seems to work, but I have two questions: 1) No wifi, the card is not detected (probably a driver issue, it works with the official OS), if there are members who have solved this? 2) I haven't seen much information on setting up a boot from an nvme storage, have you tried this? Have a g…

Hi, I have a neo3 that has been running without any issues for about a year. Today after I had to restart it and the device wouldn't boot anymore. I checked the systemd logs by mounting the sd card in my laptop and I can see that it didn't get to boot at all (as there are no systemd logs after the shutdown). I checked the card for filesystem issues, and it seems to be OK. But I have no idea how to fix this. I really don't want to flash again an image and start from zero as I have a good amount of software installed that would take a lot of time to setup again. If this is a problem with the bootloader, how can I troubleshoot it? I don't have a serial interface so I…

Hi, I need wifi working on an A20 board. Managed to compile the driver and change coherent_pool value to 2M and made everything work when booting from the SD card. After that I made a nand install using the nand_sata_install.sh script with minor modifications (partition+sizes). The system boots and everything is working right except the modprobe -v st7601Usta fails with exec format error. Dmesg says: st7601Usta: disagrees about version of symbol module_layout Recompiling the driver and reinstalling it does nothing. As I understand the nand_sata_install script uses the same linux image only converted from zImage to uImage. Shouldn't the…

I recently had a sopine module start to fail on me. The symptom was most boots would fail partway through the boot. It would just stop, serial console output stops, the board powers off. Note that this is identical to lower power but in this case was not (I have multiple sopine modules and work with them daily). I successfully mitigated this issue by underclocking. Specifically I did three things: Underclocking in U-Boot I added the following line to `/boot/boot.cmd` and compiled the file: mw 0x1c20000 0x80000900 Per the Allwinner A64 manual (p84), this sets the CPU to the lowest clock speed possible: 240MHz. The formula use…

Hello, I'm trying to install Armbian on my OrangePiZero but i have networks issues. After 3/4 hours of tests and search i found on a forum that the problem came from the kernel version. And the person said it works with: "Armbian_5.30_Orangepizero_Debian_jessie" Where can i download this rom please ? The problem: When i start my OrangePiZero i don't have ip (i use USB/TTL to access to command line). I tried to set static ip, dhcp, i tried to remove networkmanager, to use dhcpcd instead of dhclient, etc... I also tried wifi, but same... Thanks !

I'm running Armbian Focal on my Pinebook Pro. With other distros, I'm accustomed to being able to run utilities requiring root privileges like gparted and Synaptic from the Application menu. With Armbian, however, nothing happens after I click on the application. There is no popup window to authenticate with a root password and the application does not launch. The aps work fine when run from a terminal using sudo, but how can I correct this problem with the Application menu? Thanks!

This is for those experiencing a similar issue on the Rock Pi 4B (possibly RK3399 in general) who don't have a fix yet. On Armbian Focal current for the Rock Pi 4B the sound from both HDMI and the audio jack stopped working and became undetectable to the system (Both Pulse-audio and ALSA couldn't detect anything except hdmi-sound and even then HDMI sound did not work). I fixed the issue by rolling back to the latest "current" kernel version in armbian-config (5.10.63-rockchip64). Now the system sound has gone back to normal.

Hi, first of all, a great compliment to the makers of armbian, really good job you're doing! I installed legacy ubuntu trusty for pcsuino3-nano on my pcduino3 (not nano) and everything works fine. First i tried the vanilla version, but i could not manage to get UART2 (ttyS1) to work, so i switched back to legacy where everything with UART2 works properly. Maybe someone knows how to get ttyS1 working with the vanilla kernel on pcduino3 with that image provided. But I'm happy with legacy kernel for now. Now to the question, what i like better with vanilla is, that there's no preinstalled desktop-environment. I am using the pcduino3 headless as embedded d…

We have an H2+ based board that is very similar to the Orange Pi Zero. Basically it is equivalent to a Zero board with a different Wi-Fi chip and adding an eMMC chip. The SD card is on the SDC0 bus and the eMMC chip is on the SDC2 bus. The SDC1 bus isn't connected. First we tried the nand-sata-install script but it wouldn't run without the eMMC device. We edited the lib/config/fex/orangepizero.fex file and changed sdc_used for mmc2 to …

I read a lot of U Boot documentation the last hours but I still fail at fundamental understanding, like: - where can variables be set? boot.scr obviously, but there is also uEnv.txt boot.cmd armbianEnv.txt ... and in which order and precendence are they parsed? I am able to rebuild the kernel for this board and the image runs fine, but it appears that is does not support the UART on the GPIO. Does anyone know which kernel files need to be modified for this? I'm working with an Orange Pi Zero board powered by OpenWRT with U-Boot (2018.11) and kernel (4.14.93). I'm trying to implement a recovery mode by inspecting a state of some button during an u-boot phase. This button is connected to a PL4 GPIO line. When Linux gets loaded it's possible to read a state of this GPIO line, but during an u-boot phase result is the same ( 0 ) regardless of a real state of the button (`gpio input pl4`). As I got from H2+ datasheet, L port is a dedicated port (bank) with all GPIO lines disabled by default, when I try to change value of a configuration register for this port nothing changes - I read it and see that it's the same.…

Hi: I am using debian jessie on orange pi H3 boards and I am very satisfied with it. but I need to upgrade now since jessie is out of support. i want to upgrade to debian buster since my pi is using as a server without any display attached. but I wonder maybe there is something good I missed from ubuntu: like 10 years LTS support? or perhaps most developers are using ubuntu so it is more mature? just need some advice. thanks a lot!

Hi, I'd like to setup log2ram so that it never writes to the disk, but rather discards all logs at shutdown. The documentation for log2ram says that if I delete /etc/cron.daily/log2ram it will only sync the logs to the disk at shutdown. But is there a way to have it not even do that? Also, in order to prevent log2ram from filling up all its space in RAM, is it possible to setup an overwrite mechanism so that the logs begin overwriting themselves once they hit the space limit?

I have a NanoPc T4 that I use to control an astronomical observatory. I successfully installed Focal on an SD card and it boots perfectly. But now I want to know how can I install Arabian onto the eMMC chip? I'm not a programmer, but can follow basic instructions. If this is possible, any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

I like armbian-debian but don't like that i can only do the checksum for the 'img.xz' and not the actual image. Once i extract the .img from the img.xz, i don't see how i can check the actual .img since there is no checksum for it; even though it is very difficult for malware to get on the .img, it is possible. I realize that if the .img.xz's checksum is good, then the .img image is good. But once I expose the .img to my computer, if there is malware unknowingly present, then the .img could become infected and I have no way to check it. My orangepiplus2e is 32-bit. Thanks

Hi everyone, I have to make a custom kernel for a RK3568 based device with kernel 4.19.232. Currently running Ubuntu 20.04LTS. I followed this guide https://opensource.rock-chips.com/wiki_Rockchip_Kernel and I tried compiling 4.19 from rockchip source code and made a boot.img with the rk3568-evb1-ddr4-v10.dtb. The device boots but HDMI isn't working correctly, LVDS appears detected but does not show anything and one USB stopped working. Since I am new to all these things, does anyone know of any guides to compile kernels for rockchip ? I am trying to replace the boot.img from the original FW because kernel is inaccessible and iptables is not wor…

Hello, I'm a newby in linux and armbian. I'm trying to force static ip on my sbc, I followed some hints on internet adding file to interface.d folder, directly in interface file (both created on purpose by me). Interface is enP4p65s0 and I replaced in exaples eth0 with this (auto enP4p65s0 iface... etc) but it seems none works. armbian-config seems to do nothing (it seems broken) Anyone can route me to some doc?

Hello everyone, new ARM user here, but long-time GNU/Linux user for about 25 years. I'm trying to install a (preferably debian based) distribution on a newly acquired ARM laptop, a Samsung "galaxy S book" model SM-W767V - this machine is based on qcom's "Snapdragon 8cx" SoC. When i try to boot a generic image (assuming the BIOS/UEFI lists it in the boot menu) it either freezes or reboots at a specific point during the boot process. Where it crashes is always consistent for a specific image, but can differ across different images. The Armbian ones make it past the bootloader and crash at some point during the kernel boot. Has anyone had …

Hi, I'm desperately trying to force my ARMBian jessie to install nginx from the following repository: deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/jessie main contrib non-free rpi As armbian does have only nginx 1.6.2 in its repository I would like to force updating nginx and mariadb from the mentioned repository, but whenever I try to apt-get install it, it never installs nginx 1.9.9 but 1.6.2 instead and claims it is the recent one. Although I even uncommented all the other repositories temporarily in my /etc/apt/sources.list Somehow I also could not get it work with pinning, but may be I am doing something wrong. What I would like to have finall…

Hi Igor and everyone else. Id'like to suggest the following: /etc/fstab It´s not necesary to use both noatime and nodiratime, because noatime already implies nodiratime, so you can use only the option "noatime" instead of both. When creating the ext4 filesystem with mkfs.ext4 you can type a label for it with the parameter " -L " so when the users mount their cards on a computer, the desktop will show some name instead "NO NAME". For example: # mkfs.ext4 -O ^has_journal -L Armbian /dev/mmcblk0p1 or... # mkfs.ext4 -O ^has_journal -L Cubox-i /dev/mmcblk0p1 Cheers - Klez

The new board only make difficulties the img of http://forum.banana-pi.org/ are very questionable When formatting, it always says write-protected under Windows (read-only) On Linux with fdisk is the deletion of the partitions, is not a failure message but with fdisk -l is everything as before. I have tried several attempts from the net but no success. With me are already two cards defective, are nail new. This problem is when copying with the DD command and Raspbian Pixel SD copier.

Hello all, I'm using Armbian 5.73 stable (Ubuntu 16.04.5 LTS) for a year or so on an OrangePi Zero. That little box is working as a backup box and network-wise DNS server via DNSMasq (ver. 2.75-1ubuntu0.16.04.5). The OS and general system is working very stable, but I'm having issues with DNSMasq. It's solving both local systems' names via /etc/hosts and internet hostnames for the whole network. Sometimes, DNSMasq stops solving external addresses. There'll be no error and warning messages anywhere, and when pinged with kill -USR1 signal, it happily prints the current stats. I'm running with a cache size of 6148, and I see no cache overflows in the…

Hello Does anyone know how to toggle GPIO output at boot / power up as an overlay or similar? I have seen only examples that show GPIO in function and I didnt find much information how to toggle GPIO out function. Basically I would like to be able to turn LCD back light on when the board is booting and than to be able to control the brightness. (That I can do after the Linux is up and running) but before the Linux is up I still want to be able to control the LCD back light. Can anyone help with that matter?

I've copied Armbian Ubuntu Focal onto a brand-new SD card and started it on an Orange Pi Zero. This has worked before with the Bionic version. After setting it up and upgrading all packages, I rebooted and everything was running smoothly. Now I've done the same as before but found that the system is totally slow after running for just one day. It's set up to collect data from a 1-Wire temperature sensor and send it to my server. And it lets the green LED blink twice every 30 seconds to show it's still there and has a network connection. The network is connected via Ethernet cable, WLAN is not used. Observation 1: It took half a minute to login the first time t…

Hi all. I am new in both OrangePi hardware and Armbian OS. I bought Orange Pi Zero 512 MB. I aim to develop a stand-alone device using this board. I am too confused with my readings. Do you have any idea for the following run rules together on the same board? (1) When I connect via serial (USB), it runs bash. It will ask user name and password. I can write a program, compile it, update the OS, and change settings. <This part is okay.> I want to use a GUI for this part. (2) When I supply 5-Volt power via extension pins, it runs stand-alone. It will not ask for a username and a password. It starts with an application developed in either Python or C programming lan…

I was trying to get my Fritz!WLAN AC860 to work which requires Mediatek drivers/firmware. I noticed that the various kernel modules (mt76x2u, mt76x2_common, mt76x02_usb, mt76_usb, mt76x02_lib and mt76) were already available through the armbian-firmware package, but the also required mt7662_rom_patch.bin was not. The Mediatek modules plus mt7662_rom_patch.bin are available in the firmware-linux-nonfree package, but this will only install properly after first removing the armbian-firmware package. Everything seems to work fine now (I'm using my OdroidC4 as a headless server), but I have this nagging feeling that one day I'll need to us…

I've heard people say that the Orange Pi is a "budget alternative" to the Raspberry Pi. On one hand, the Raspberry Pi has an excellent community, with a large user base that could really help you in your learning journey. On the other hand, the Orange Pi offers great value for money, and it's really tempting because the Raspberry Pi can be a bit pricey. What's your suggestion?

Hi! Yesterday i upgraded ugly Chinese linux to Armbian 16.04 LTS and tested h3control on it. All, except daemon installer, worked fine. Now daemon installer had been fixed. I need any help in testing of it on H3/H2/H5 boards with legacy/mainline kernels. h3control - is a headless daemon/console tool to check and control CPU, DDR frequency and built-in temperature sensor via embedded http-server. It distinguishes from Armbian tools (h3's consumption and monitor): It doesn't rely on particular linux distribution. The only prerequisite is a mono. It tested with mono from 3.2.8 (released in Feb 2014) to 5.4 (current stable). It is a web a…

Thank you for everything you’ve done. Armbian is amazing. On Raspberry PI devices, it’s possible to pass parameters to the kernel at boot-up and force certain IO pins to go high as soon as shutdown is complete. It’s along the lines of “dtoverlay=gpio-poweroff,gpiopin=xx”. I’m guessing that GPIO-POWEROFF is a kernel overlay, that it’s specific to Raspbian, and that Armbian may have a similar overlay. What’s the best way to discover the name of Armbian’s corresponding overlay, please? That overlay would enable me to configure the relevant single-board computer to send a signal at shutdown, a signal that would cause the charging/power circ…
