  1. A problem I'm having with my fresh install of Armbian Bionic on my Libre Renegade board is that I cannot use the user login due to read-only file system warnings. Root login does allow more freedom, but comes with its own drawbacks. Prior to writing Armbian to the chip from Windows, I formatted the chip exFAT. I've reinstalled Armbian mutiple times on multiple chips, but even the recommended A1 SD doesn't work. I'm not sure where the problem lies. Is this strictly a hardware issue? Is there any non-extensive ways to workaround or fix the problem in the terminal? I'm not too familiar with Linux terminology, but can figure out common terms. I can supply more in…

This is on a 4GB NanoPi M4 v1. There are a number of files matching the spec '/etc/ssh/ssh_host_*' but they are all zero bytes, which renders the machine inaccessible by ssh. I'm pretty sure this is happening on every install, I've been troubleshooting and reinstalled several times from the latest image and ssh was not working at any time.

I now have a RockPi4a running Armbian_20.02.0-rc1_Rockpi-4b_bionic_legacy_4.4.210_desktop from eMMC. Now i wanted to see how i most easily can experiment with newer distributions, such as 5.x. The radxa debian images for rockpi4 use a lot of partitions and it was quite easy to reformat the eMMC to have two system partitions, install different linux versions into them, and then configure the boot script to allow booting from different partitions/kernels via serial console and there selecting the desired kernel. In Armbian, it seems booting uses the boot.cmd script to boot the kernel. Is there a simple example of the boot script with a m…

Hello Everyone, Yesterday Domoticz released a new version but requires now GLIBC-2.28. Armbian Bionic has GLIBC-2.27. Users with a Raspberry Pi need to upgrade from Debian Stretch to Buster. But what i know is Armbian for the OrangePi One plus based of Ubuntu 18.04 what is based on Debian Buster. So in my opinion it should be possible to run GLIBC-2.28 instead of GLIBC-2.27. But the question is: how could i fix that?? Thank you for all help!

It doesn't differ (much). Major difference is that when you start with a Debian / Ubuntu you start with a DI (Debian Installer) and install Debian to some drive. That process is identical on all x86 Ubuntu based Linuxes. Only background / colours, configurations, perhaps an application / GRUB versions is changed ... We only provide "LIVE" image because of different hardware design / scenarios. Its more suitable this way. Once you login into Armbian, all tutorials and install cases will work the same way as they work on particular Debian / Ubuntu version https://www.digitalocean.com/community/tutorials with rare exceptions when application does not come with arm/arm64 b…

  50. Edit: Issue is solved, see here. It's an application problem but according to an extensive Google research this does not seem to be a common problem of Samba, so it might be an integration problem with the environment it is running in. The setup: Armbian 19.11.6 (Debian Buster) running the current kernel on a NanoPi M4V2, offering network shares via Samba. Clients are Windows 10 and a BananaPi running Armbian (Debian Buster 4.19.y kernel) as well. The observation: When downloading (large) files from the Samba share to Windows 10, the download speed very often suddenly drops down to zero and stays on that rate (forever). This can be best…

What is the supported way, if any, to redirect /var/log.hdd to a directory located on a real HDD drive? One of my systems has an eMMC to boot and operate from, and a HDD hooked up on the USB3 port. "Ideally" I'd like to use only the HDD, but the poor/incomplete USB3 boot support on the Rock64 V2 (with Bionic at least) had me to buy an eMMC and live quietly with it. As it is, I'd like to move out of the eMMC all the data that is either written often, or that it could get bigger with time passing. For the logs, however, I don't think to have found a clean way to support the relocation of /var/log.hdd on a different drive/partition, unless I hack the armbian-raml…

Now since one of the latest updates, the RTL-TCP server doesn't work anymore 24/7. After a while, I can not connect to the server anymore. I studied the logs and it seems, that kernel/udev/upowerd powers off the USB-port where the RTL-SDR stick is plugged. The stick reinitializes, but the binding of the stick to the running server gets lost. There seems to be something new to the kernel/system which cyclically drops the USB connection to my stick. If you check the log, all is normal for the halt or power off proccess. The problem happens when the board is going to make the power on, it hangs, and you can't see anything using the debug serial. I need to control two audio streams, in and out each and add information to the streams as appropriate. I would like to use as little external hardware as possible so stereo mic or dual mic input and stereo out would be awesome. In my case, peak performance is not really important. This would allow me to further validate my thesis. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
