I'm trying to create a microSD card to boot Armbian, but first would be inserted into a Windows laptop to edit some configuration. To make the microSD show up in Windows, the first partition must be a FAT partition, and so Linux would be ext4 partion 2. I suspect I'll need to put the /boot partition on the FAT volume, with directions to load from mmcblk1p2. In case it matters, this is a Rock64 without emmc. I've just started this research, but I'd be grateful for any u-boot-savvy person's help here. Thanks.

Installed desktop, ran start desktop. From there I was back in text mode. Rebooted still no desktop. Tried startx, xinit and, several other start desktop commands from various OS's. I've been working on this for 3 days now. Don't know what I'm missing. I also tried installing lightdm, no change. I could also use the shut down command. Tried everything I could think of there too. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I hate wasting your bandwidth and time. I'm stuck! I'm done wasting bandwidth and moved to time now. Funny it asks me startx like in (OS name). Wish I knew how to tell it Yes! exactly lol! Thanks in advance ROC-RK3328-CC Armbian 5.98 Renegade

  8. Hi, I had Armbian based on kernel 4.19 installed on emmc. It was running pretty good for a long time but recently it was automatically upgraded to kernel 5.3.9 and started to restart while booting. I had collected a log (see attachment), It looks like it was unable to find root partition and this is most likely caused by issue with axp20x_device_probe. Is this a known issue? Is there any remedy? minicom.log

  20. v5.04 / 1.3.2016 section in https://docs.armbian.com/Release_Changelog/ says "suspend to RAM and resume by power button works now (consumption less than 0.4W without peripherals)". I'm looking for the board that works "suspend to RAM". I have a NanoPi NEO, but it seems not. Please tell me if "suspend to RAM" works on your board. Thanks. suspend to RAM and wakeup instruction: $ echo mem > /sys/power/state then, press "power key".

  21. Etcher understands zip, gzip, bzip2, and I don't know what all else. But it has no idea what a 7z file is. So I have link in proximity for two of the three binaries I need to get, and the third buried in grey on black text at the bottom of the page where nobody will see it and instead they will feel compelled to go out to find it on their own. Are 7z files really enough smaller than bz2 that it's worth this?

Did Amlogic provide a linux video driver which can hard-decode h.264 ? Regards !

Not posting everything I've tried, just wanted to ask a question of people experienced with the H3. Does it really support slave I2S in the mainline kernel? I've seen it posted in multiple forums that it does, and the datasheet and user manual says it does, but I can not get it working. Has anyone seen this work in person? I had to hack up the sun4i-i2s.c driver around mclk / bclk generation to make it happy just to even try it, and confirmed that all register settings look good. But the DMA just doesn't seem to transfer data when in clock slave mode. It doesn't seem like any cpu using sun4i-i2s should work in clock slave mode.

Since the h5 is 64 bit and the code they speak is quite old, therefore I cannot use it, I wonder if there is any version of ffmpeg that takes advantage of the HW acceleration of the H5 processors. 55. I’m trying to use a 3.5 LCD (waveshare clone) with ILI9486 + XPT2046 with my orange pi zero. My display is like this. I installed both Debian_buster_next_4.19.59 and Ubuntu_bionic_next_4.19.57 and I followed many guides in here with no success. I edited armbianEnv.txt and added these: overlays=spi-spidev spi-add-cs1 param_spidev_spi_bus=1 param_spidev_spi_cs=1 After that I ran this sudo modprobe fbtft_device custom name=fb_ili9486 gpios=dc:18,reset:2 speed=16000000 busnum=1 rotate=90 and didn’t get any error. I figured that the reset & DC pins on orange pi zero are pin22(GPIO2) and pin18(GPIO18) but I’m not 100% sure about these.…

Everything went perfectly fine, Pihole is the DNS for LAN, while my router handles WAN DNS (DNS over TLS with Cloudflare). I'm concerned a little bit about logging. What do you recommend to keep the sd card safe. I think Pihole is logging to /var/log/ whete running for less than 24 hours I have pihole.log 3MB size, with pihole.log.1 around 2MB. Is there a way to use log2ram for this or a good practice of log rotation, writing to RAM, etc? Your help is welcome!
