Hello to everyone! I'm trying to solve the issue which is currently being discussed here and I've been forced to revert back to the ancient version in the title. The problem is that along with my OPi PC I use a cheap wireless adapter based on the MT7601. Here, I've found out that the support for these cards had been merged to upstream since 4.2 kernel versions indeed with Armbian Focal 5.10.4-sunxi it worked out of the box like a charm. Unfortunately, it isn't the case with the version I'm currently on, this adding another massive headache! I've found this really interesting thread where it is discussed how to add support for the MT7601. Everything went fine apart …

I downloaded the "Armbian 22.11 Jammy" image today and it won't boot, the red light won't come on most of the time (it does occasionally). I will no longer report the situation of my SD-card, power supply, and burning tools. In short, they are all fine, and I am a person who often burns Armbian' images, so I can say that I am very experienced. After repeated attempts, I downloaded "Orangepizero2_3.0.6_ubuntu_jammy_server_linux5.16.17" from the OPI official website, made a boot disk with the same method, and it can boot normally... OPI Hardware Version: V1.5 SD-Card: Sandisk Extreme 64G V2, buy from official store Power supply:3A adaptor, from …

The sound has also changed) Because I don't know if it's a GPU issue with the firmware itself or if it's caused by not using Waydroid,So I want to know how to test whether GPU is used in Linux Did the installed Waydroid use GPU

Hi This issue is produced on both flavors of Linux for the orange pi zero i.e. Debian and Ubuntu. I am trying to login to pi zero using the serial terminal. First time it asks me to change the password, which I changed. Then using that changed password I tried to login into it. However, whenever I enter the password in it. it restarts. I even used the external high power phone charger to test this issue but in both cases result was same. Any solution to this problem?

Hello I am new to Nanopi m1 plus development board. I followed the instruction as on friendlyarm's wiki page. I loaded the image from my Ubuntu OS and connected my device to the pc. Test version 20221216-legacy for rk3399 (Station P1). The kernel 5.10.11 is used instead of 4.4. Some of the functions are not working yet. Switching to this version will get rid of a very outdated version of the BSP 4.4 kernel.

Hi, I am trying to optimize torrent download speeds on SBC. and I have the RPI4-2GB board. I get somewhat similar results for the Odroid HC1. I only download 1 torrent at a time, and I dont upload. So very simple requirements. On a 1000/1000Mbit connection. Samsung 4TB 870QVO HDD - UAS enabled and tested with good controller. Same file downloaded multiple times. So the external factors such as the ISP or the Storage is for sure NOT the bottleneck here. Transmission - 21MB/s ~ 168Mbit/s qBittorrent - 34,8MB/s ~ 278,4 Mbit/s ruTorrent - 29,3MB/s ~ 234,4 Mbit/s Laptop - 118,7MB/s ~ 950 Mbit/s I have identified that transmission bottlen…

This message is on-topic, but for an unknown reason, it is not possible for me to create a message in Help wanted. So I post here. I have used Armbian for two years, I think, on several devices, and I have given some money to support it. Thanks for the job. I recently upgraded to the last version with Debian 11. Everything fine but one point which is probably not a bug, that's why I don't post in "bugs". I use Unbound which is the heart of my soft. And I use a python script which is loaded by Unbound. Until now, there was no problem. With the last version, I ran in several read problems. The first reason I found is apparmor, which prevented the script to o…

Hello everyone, First timer here. I enabled the wlan0 interface on my Orange Pi zero 2w and am able to connect to the internet. However, I am not able to connect to it via SSH or even ping it, (cannot resolve host). I'm using the minimal image available here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero-2w/ I followed the docs to configure wifi as pointed out here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Networking/#connecting-to-wifi-network Currently I'm stuck on how to debug it further. I tried to ping other devices from within the orange pi and it works without any issues. Any advice is very much appreciated

pine64 products have sloppy DC connectors. This connector simply detaches from the motherboard. I use in production pine64 pine64-lts pineH64 and rock64. As a result of switching on and off the dc connector, in each case it has peeled off and does not hold power. I've attached the DC connector with glue but that's not what the factory mount. The low price now goes sideways. workmanship worse than nonopi.

If you want to get ahead of the curve a little I've been testing libgpiod master with User Space IO. This version includes Python bindings, so I'm no longer generating CFFI bindings for this library. I've converted all the example code to use the new bindings. User Space IO is Python 3 and Java 8 bindings for Linux user space GPIO, SPI, I2C, PWM and Serial interfaces. User Space IO is a consistent API for C, Python 3 and most JVM languages. No more hacked up RPi.GPIO and WiringPi for each SBC model.

I'm trying to use an Orange Pi Pc Plus v1.1. The disk images for it provided by Orange Pi are worth nothing, having repositories that do not work. As an alternative I've been looking at Armbian, and decided to try the images supplied here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc-plus/ . I had a problem with both: -The Ubuntu image always reboot as soon as the gui loads. I don't think it power related, since I'm using a 3A power supply and that's more than what is recommended. -The Debian image doesn't allow me to connect to the internet. I don't have the option to use a cable and the WiFi network I have access to uses PEAP, and I found no way to configure …

I have the same problem. Using Lubuntu 14.04- 0.9.1 img for Orange pi lite. bin2fex in sunxi tools gave me "malformed data" error. using the windows bin2fex gave me "unrecognized GPIO port #12". Since this bin2fex is so critical in setting display, audio, resolution, etc. This bug made my ARM experience very bad. I understand and appreciate all the efforts in the linux community though.

With the Orange Pi Zero 2 (Bullseye), when in Armbian-config I install desktop with browser...it seems working but when you enable the desktop it finished by a kill() in the terminal. You can solve the issue by apt-get install tightdm.after and not before. You will get the desktop for the user and not root. Grey Background with the pinguin. If you install Desktop in Bullseye with Orange Pi One Plus or Orange Pi Zero, no issue. You have the new Debian Desktop with a Background dark blue. Regards F1ATB.fr

EDIT: I tried to plug it directly in router and speed is OK now. Weird, but it's fine now. Please close this topic. Hello, I just bought Orange Pi 3 LTS to set it up as small off-site backup using OMV and USB HDD. I installed Armbian_23.02.2_Orangepi3-lts_bullseye_current_5.15.93.img on eMMC and installed OMV using armbian-config. I noticed SMB and FTP speeds are slow (around 90 Mbps) so I installed iperf to test it properly and speed is capped on 94 Mbps. I have gigabit switch and interface is connected with GE, if I plug the cable to other device, it works just fine. So there must be some issue on Orange Pi 3 LTS. I searched the internet and speed shoul…

Hi, I'm trying to generate a U-Boot for my OrangePi Plus board (H3). I'm using the Denx 2021.10 release and have tried the standard defconfig for this board and also variations of this config. Hello. I use Retrorange Pi on Orange pi pc+ and the kernel includes a uinput module for implementing console utility management from the gamepad. Unfortunately, in this 5.3.0-dev-rc8 core, the CPU temperature information does not work. I switched kernel to 5.4.20-current via armbian-config. In this kernel, the cpu temp readings work, but unfortunately, there is no uinput in the modules. Can I somehow build this module separately for 5.4.20-current without recompiling the entire kernel? Or is it possible for respected developers to re-enable the module in future kernel releases? With best regards, Sergey

I have installed syslog-ng which removes rsyslog, now I am trying to filter using journald as docker is set to log to journald. If I create docker.conf in /etc/syslog-ng/conf.d with: filter f_dockerd {"${.journald._COMM}" eq "dockerd"}; destination d_docker { file("/var/log/docker.log"); }; log { source(s_src); filter(f_dockerd); destination(d_docker); }; Everything is logged go to docker.log, not just docker logs. The journal source is already setup with system() I think as if I try to add a journald source I get the error there can only be one.

I am experiencing frequent kernel panics with the RockPro64 board and assume it could be a power consumption issue with the SSD (PCIe NVMe M.2). I tested a variety of different SSDs, with the Cruzial P1 being the most reliable. Is it possible to manually throttle an SSD within Armbian, forcing it to consume less power? In my case, peak performance is not really important. This would allow me to further validate my thesis. Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

If you have ever compiled buildroot from Amlogic, please help me. I am trying to learn develop app on amlogic based device. First I was getting compile error on 64bit Ubuntu 16.04. Something like this. Even though there was a file, 'bash' couldn't find or run. /bin/bash: /root/buildroot/x86/xxxx-gcc: No such file or directory Thinking it's something to do with 64 bit OS, I switched to 32 bit Ubuntu 16.04. However after about 2 hours I'm getting following error. /bin/bash: /root/buildroot_openlinux/output/meson8b_m201/host/usr/gcc-arm-none-eabi-6-2017-q2-update/bin/arm-none-eabi-gcc: No such file or directory /bin/bash: /root/buil…

Hello. I have been struggling with creating a local build environment that will be guaranteed to work today, next month, next year etc. My hardware is Radxa-Zero and I want to run kernel 6.1.23. Currently I find that the build environment, in various ways, breaks the build over time. I've been chasing a stable build for kernels 6.1.23, 57, 58, 59. The build environment, by default, grabs the latest 6.1.y kernel, which is no good for me. My root FS and DTB are for 6.1.23 and I don't want to keep updating everything just because I need to make some kernel configuration changes. I have tried the BSPFREEZE and OFFLINE_WORK build options but t…

Due to systemd, Journal is going to replace all journals sooner or later, it's already one of the busiest journaling on the sytem. The logs are binary and can't be rotated like text logs, they are already compressed and can't be read by text editor, instead only by journalctl. Thus, in /usr/lib/armbian/armbian-ramlog , the directory /var/log/journal is excluded from standard log rotation and copying to HDD. Instead, it is copied once to /var/log.hdd/journal and a soft-link is created: /var/log/journal pointing to -> /var/log.hdd/journal . The RAM logging was introduced to spare the SD card, preventing many write actions that wear the SD card qui…

Goodmorning, I'm Tiziano from Italy. I would like to manage all the delicate functions of my reef aquarium through an Orange Pi Lite card. I saw that both the Armbian Buster program and the Armbian Focal program are available for my card, I kindly ask you to understand if there is a fundamental difference between the two and which. I have tried successfully in any case to install and run both programs on the microSD and to start the two programs. The card starts up and the whole procedure is performed correctly. The problem is that in the end I am only asked to choose the "default system command shell" between "bash" and "zsh", no option to start a desktop …

Hi, I just switched from an ancient ubuntu-rockchip install to armbian ubuntu 26.04 with the mainline kernel. I did a bit of an unorthodox installation, I wanted to install on an nvme drive, and instead of using a microSD and then copying the system with armbian-install, since I didn't have a working microsd available I did a "manual" installation, I flashed rkspi_loader.img into the SPI taken from the armbian image and then flashed the armbian img directly to the nvme drive with an usb adapter from my PC. All is good and working fine, but I'm wondering if I'm missing any settings that gets applied during the armbian-install process (are there any?) that …

Hi, I searched around for any new info on the 3rd USB port (header pins next to the 40pin header) and couldn't find anything new than the 2016 post that found its existance, the rest I found was acknowledgement that the H3 has 3 real USB ports, I am trying to enable this port since it seems it isn't enabled by default even in the latest Armbian, how exactly can it be enabled, the whole script.bin change from 2016 got me confused, is it the usb3host option in armbian-config? Edit, spoke too soon, even though the info is missing actually, it was the usb3host in armbian-config>system>hardware, I had the pins the wrong way, D+ is on the outside. Also w…

I have an orange pi 2e running armbian 5.31. I wanted to use it as a pihole for blocking advertisements however it seems that it only has a link local address but no IPV6 connection to the internet. pinging 2001:4860:4860::8888 will show destination unreachable: Beyond scope of source address. However I have another PI, windows desktop on the same network than can ping the same IPV6 address. Is there a way to force "enable" IPV6?

The hardware watchdog /dev/watchdog does not reboot the board in a brand new installation with 22.02 image. What happens instead is the green LED on board goes off, both LEDs on ethernet port go on and thats it - boards halt. However, if I flash previous 21.08 to sdcard everything works fine, even after I upgraded the installation via apt-get update & apt-get upgrade to latest packages.

Tried to build making a new git clone of the repository. So far tried to test by building orangepipcplus and orangepiplus2e, both stop in the screen 'Choose image type'. Options selected for both are 'Os image for installation to SD card', 'vendor provided / legacy ..) kernel, 'Debian 8 jessie', 'Image with desktop'environment'. Also, another try to build for nanopineo stopped in the same place. It seems that today's commits (29/12/2016) got something to do with this, I was able to generate images up to yesterday. @Igor, @zador.blood.stained can you please let me know if it works ok with you after today's commits?

Hi, I try to connect a tft 240x240 display via SPI with my BPI m2zero and i am looking for a suitable library written in C. The display uses ST7789 driver and it will be used in combination with thermal camera. I tested it on Arduino and the display works fine. If someone was able to run such a display, can you share your library? Thanks for all the help

Hi, I'm trying to work with the CedarX/Cedrus Video Engine (running in Allwinner A20). It works smoothly with my patched FFmpeg; for example: ffmpeg -f v4l2 -r 30 -pix_fmt nv12 -video_size 1280x720 -i /dev/video0 -vcodec cedrus264 -pix_fmt nv12 -qp 15 -f rtsp -rtsp_transport tcp rtsp://192.168.10.11/live/test I need to use pixel format RGB24, but as far as I understand, I'm limited to work with NV12 (or NV16) pixel format. Does this limitation is due to: My FFmpeg patch (I think not...) CedarX/Cedrus driver implementation. Hardware limitation. Thanks for the help, Joseph

Hi, I installed a fresh Armbian_22.05.4_Rockpi-4a_sid_edge_5.18.0 first on SD-card, then I used nand-sata-install to copy system to emmc. Hello Armbian community, I recently purchased a Odroid N2+ board and am trying different OS. I flashed Armbian_22.08.1_Odroidn2_jammy_current_5.10.139.img.xz on eMMC card. The first boot up works fine. I was prompted to set root password, new user credential and locals without any issue. I then used 'armbian-config' to navigate the different settings. In the system security menu, I applied the firmware update (that's what the menu called), I assume it runs apt update && apt upgrade. After completion, it prompts me to reboot. So I did. Then the Armbian cannot boot up anymore. I am using Odroid N2+ headless, so I can only see the board blue led not flashi…

I am aware that the Raspberry Pi 1, 2,3 can transmit Radio waves on GPIO pin 4 and 18. There are even special skins that filter the output. " Previously we posted about the Raspberry Pi’s ability to modulate one of its pins to produce FM transmissions with PiFM. A developer (F5OEO) has recently expanded on this idea, and now the Raspberry Pi is capable of modulating and transmitting FM, AM, SSB, SSTV and FSQ signals anywhere between 130 kHz to 750 MHz. To transmit with the Raspberry Pi all you need to do is plug in a wire antenna to Pin 12 (GPIO 18) on the GPIO port and run the PiTx software by piping in an audio file or image for SSTV. " …
