Hi, I recently bought an Odroid HC1 and installed Debian 8 on it. I am being quite happy so far with the installation, however this softy installer is very frustrating. I tried to install Syncthing, which failed to start, then now Webmin, hoping to be of "smaller scale", but no lack. It repeatedly fails to do something, displaying the errors behind the curses window, so I had to stop it with Ctrl-C. Then I got back to the menu and after quit, a cleared screen. Brilliant. Are there logs stored somewhere, at least? I checked /var/log/, but got no further. Or how I am supposed to go through failing installations? Thank you,

Hello, I am trying to make a acces point so when the orange pi has no internet i can still connect to the acces point and acces a python server that is running in a docker container on it. I managed to set-up the “hotspot” in the configuration, but once I take out the ethernet cable I cant view the site anymore from my phone that is connected to the orange pi hotspot. What can I do to make this work? https://imgur.com/a/5lecbHX

After installing Armbian_23.2.1_Rock-5b_bookworm_legacy_5.10.160_xfce_desktop.img I found a nagging error each start of Firefox. "Failed to read the configuration file. Please contact your system administrator." Looking at internet with Google I found hardly any link referring to linux or armbian, therefore I still don't know which configuration file was actually missing or damaged. The only link I found with armbian in it contained some very obscure editting of some configuration files (just like many proposed Windows solutions). The issue: where does it go wrong? The problem is some configuration clutter somewhere in /usr/lib/firef…

Hi I've just set up the Roseapple Pi with Armbian (legacy server Debian). As I often find (over a range of monitors) there's an overscan so bad I can't see the "login" instructions at the bottom of the screen... on all sides the text is off the edge of the screen. For the life of me I can't see WHERE to adjust the overscan - can anyone help. Pete.

I’m using the Pine64 2GB Kickstarter’s board with the official LCD, running Armbian 5.25 Pine64 Debian (Jessie) 3.10.104 image. Everything works fine, display in terminal only and touch screen with the desktop. Now I would like to upgrade to the latest stable Armbian version (which on download page is 5.83). However now I can’t enable the LCD, although the download page says: It was a couple years back, I don’t remember exactly, but seems that was the same way I’ve used to enable the screen in old 5.25 Armbian. I’m no Linux kernel developer, but searching through the forum on the topic I found several mentions of “kernel recompile” - is there no other ways …

I'm experimenting with video transcoding but am getting problems when using vdpau to decode and the hw video encoder. Using this https://github.com/stulluk/FFmpeg-Cedrus and https://github.com/uboborov/ffmpeg_h264_H3 software decode & hw encode = 15-20FPS but high CPU usage. it can do 60FPS encoding rate with 960x540 30fps h264 source dropping the compression helps a bit too (-qp 24, default is 30) hw decode & hw encode of 1080 h264 = 1FPS, using 4k h265 as the source gives 1.5 FPS ffmpeg -hwaccel vdpau -i 1080p30.mp4 -c:v cedrus264 -c:a copy -pix_fmt nv12 out.mp4 Is the video engine designed to do transcoding?

Hello, I was running Armbian on my cubietruck, I believe Bionic Ubuntu. I wanted to upgrade to latest kernel, so I did a - apt-get update - apt-get upgrade - ambian-config and selected the lastest kernel And that was it. When rebooting, I end up with a try to contact a tftp server. The cubietruck has an SDCard and an SSD. Is there an easy fix or do I need to reinstall it completely, please? If I need to reinstall, do I have to backup all data, or is existing data preserved? (Traccar installation) Regards, Tomte

Hi, I'm interested in getting a compact ARM-based processor (something like a RPI or ASUS TinkerBoard) that can output a 2560x720 output resolution. Hi, I’m new to the forum and just wanted to take a moment to appreciate the incredible work Armbian has done for the community. I have been tinkering around with Radxa rock 5 ITX SBC and Armbian. Haven't tested yet using OpenGL, but regarding Cedrus everybody was talking about video decoding and didn't see anyone talking about encoding. Don't want to try on old kernels, therefore I'm not using Xenial. Is there a way to get hw acceleration for video encoding on recent kernels (5.10.y) for Orange pi one?

I have recently managed to get SPI boot to USB SSD working on my Odroid N2+. However, to get there, I had to manually set setenv rootdev "/dev/sda1" in my /boot/boot.cmd With that set, SPI boot works. However, obviously I should not set it manually there, and the setting gets overwritten by armbian-config. My understanding is, that I should let boot.cmd unchanged (rootdev "/dev/mmcblk0p1") and armbianEnv.txt should do its magic, but the rootdev setting in armbianEnv.txt is simply ignored upon SPI boot and it fails to boot, as it tries to load the root fs from SD card... Any pointers, what might go wrong here or …

I'm using the newest Ubuntu image for my RockPi4C+, and from time to time, I try to login, but it wont allow it. If I reboot, I can login just fine. I tried from 2 devices, both devices could not ssh into the pi. running a cat on /var/log/auth.log doesnt show any attempts at all. After a reboot, I cat the log and can see my login attempts present after the reboot. Its like the sshd service is dying. Whenever I start interrupt driven code, I got stuck. No such support as far as I can see. How can I handle this? Thanks

Hi I am trying to prepare SD card that I will be able to copy the same image to several boards: - I have my final OS on EMMC of "mother" board(installed with nand-sata-install), - copy os to SD card using dd if=...of=.., so I got .img file How to clone emmc content to another boards? I know I can use nand-sata -install (preprare my final OS on SD card and the copy to all boards), but it is not quick way. Raw copy is much faster. Any ideas? Of course dd if=my.img of=/emmc does not work - some problem with boot.

Would like to know where I could find the checksums too should someone know where they are. Thank you!

I just (several days ago) installed Armbian 22.05 OdroidN2 Jammy XFCE. It uses kernel 5.10. Then I noticed there is an alternative version 22.05 jammy XFCE with kernel 5.17. Is it possible to update to the later kernel from the image I used without re-imaging and starting from scratch? I have already installed and setup a lot of other applications and data. I can see i have packages linux-image-current-meson64/jammy (linux-dtb... & linux-headers...) installed. Would like to build something like a NAS, because I'm tired of connecting an external drive via USB. I am thinking to use bananapi M2 berry for this. I would power the 3.5 HDD externally and don't care too much about SATA speed. However, it is important to me that armbian works without manual adjustments, because it wouldn't cope with them. Should I go ahead with the experiment?

Hello, I would like to know how they reduce the size of the images and then, when the microSD cards are inserted into a card, they expand to fill the entire space. In other words, the same thing that Armbian images do when we use them for the first time: they are small, and then they occupy all the storage space.

I'm trying to build the linux-tools binaries from the kernel using the armbian build. I ran the ./compile.sh script and it built the image, but I only want the linux-tools binaries to copy over. I'm not sure how to get it to build them, when I go into the kernel tools folder and do "make all" it builds the binaries for x64 instead of for arm64. I looked through the kernel config file when running ./compile.sh script but can't find an option to build the linux-tools. I'm not sure how to add it so that they are built for the target system arm64.

Hi, I downloaded Armbian 4.14.14 and I installed it on my Banana PI. Then I configured it to act as Gateway/Firewall. I buyed a Toshiba 8GB Class 10 and I started to copy the data from my "old" SD-Card (SanDisk 8GB Class 10), first with Linux using dd, then under Windows using Win32DiskImager. Always the same problem: if I boot the Banana PI with the new card the system boots and, before I get the login screen, the system restarts in a loop... With the "old" card of course it works... Can someone …

Some people noticed that Pulseaudio mixes is showing "Built-in Audio" for all the audio devices of the SBCs. I investigated and found that the issue is related to ALSA: the devices are not really exposed by their real hardware connection (HDMI, SPDIF, ...) but just as "hw" devices. Pulseaudio is interpreting this as built-in audio because does not know anything else of the device. I'm no ALSA expert at all, copied some already existing configuration files without really understanding what I did, I found a solution. To solve the problem with SPDIF and HDMI you need to place the following two configuration files in /usr/share/alsa/card. Call the…

Hi, there is almost 0 documentation how to update u-boot; where to flash (dd) it, if it does support boot from rootfs on ZFS etc. Regarding the ZFS; here I assume /boot has to be on ext4/vfat and rest of the rootfs (/) as ZFS to make it works? Is there any way to flash more details on this part?
