I’m running Armbian 20.05.7 stable on an Odroid HC2 (XU4). I installed Docker Compose using the instrux found in the Linux section of the Docker install page. I’m logged in as root via SSH. I run the curl command (which I literally copied/pasted from the docs install page) curl -L "https://github.com/docker/compose/releases/download/1.26.2/docker-compose-$(uname -s)-$(uname -m)" -o /usr/local/bin/docker-compose then chmod +x /usr/local/bin/docker-compose and I check it with which docker-compose which returns: /usr/local/bin/docker-compose When I try to test the installation… docker-compose --version it returns: bash: /usr/b…

Hello, I run a clearfogpro, this problem is not board specific, but I would like to use a huawei e3372h-153 USB 4G dongle on this board which has a USB3 port. The current version of armbian is Debian Buster Linux 4.14.135-mvebu. This dongle is in stick mode, as opposed to the hilink mode. In stick mode, when plugging the dongle, two devices appear : /dev/ttyUSB0 and /dev/cdc-ncm1. With the former I can issue AT commands to the dongle, the latter is the modem itself with the NCM protocol, known to be faster than PPP. There is also an wwan interface appearing with ifconfig -a. However, I do not know…

hey, after updating my nanopct4 and rockpi-4b to from 20.05 to 20.08 RDP stopped working for me, only black screen. After reading all the messy logs, fresh install etc, I found a simple working solution online: In /etc/xrdp/startwm.sh change #!/bin/sh to #!/bin/bash Sources: https://github.com/neutrinolabs/xrdp/issues/1630 https://askubuntu.com/questions/1166568/remote-desktop-blue-screen-after-login Maybe others are affected too, don't know about Ubuntu.

I'm not sure if anyone is interested in a very small distro without gcc, but I spent some time the last week using buildroot and armbian's source files to create a 3.4.112-rt image for the nanopi neo. It is going to be part of a realtime audio project (think synth or guitar pedal) that I'm working on and it demands a quick boot, among other things. There is also a mainline version, but it doesn't have all the fixings you folks like, so I don't know if you'd want to use that. You can find the build scripts and config files on my github. I'll be posting the legacy image in a zip file tonight, once I verify everything is reproducible. I…

I can not ssh into my Orange Pi Zero 2 . I get "incorrect password , permission denied" repeatedly. I have loaded latest Armbian 23.11 and some older images all with same result. I used "1234" as password. My Pc has Linux Mint 21.2 and I used Xfce terminal also XTerm. Both My Pc and Orange Pi Zero2 are plugged into same switch. Also used a laptop with Linux Mint 21.1 and Xfce Terminal with same result. Any ideas would be great , I'm just any average user that tinkers. Thanks

Hello! I follow instruction "Add names of overlays you want to activate to overlays= line in /boot/armbianEnv.txt" I try to find /boot/armbianEnv.txt but nothing. I see Build tools overview from https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/fcb8b6f195bbb76c83c612c425fdf08cfd48c68b/README.md And nothing about /boot/armbianEnv.txt May be documentation talking about build/config/bootenvrockchip.txt and build/config/zynq.txt and others txt files in build/config/ ? It looks like /boot/armbianEnv.txt is file on microSD after I burn armbian image on it. But reading docs I don't understand nothing about build/config/bootenv/rockchip.txt

I'm struggling to use the armbian-config tool to setup a hotspot when I have two radios. Can someone share with me the intended workflow/step using armbian-config? I get asked twice for Default interface and the 2nd dialog is throwing me off. My board and radios work fine, but my network is suffering from insufficient user IQ. :-(

It's a Debian stretch server (Armbian to be specific). When I ran "apt-get update" the day before yesterday, it gave me an error: "The following signatures couldn't be verified because the public key is not available: NO_PUBKEY 648ACFD622F3D138 NO_PUBKEY 0E98404D386FA1D9". I searched the Internet and finally resolved the issue by running the following commands: apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 648ACFD622F3D138 apt-key adv --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 0E98404D386FA1D9 Initially I tried to use "--keyserver keyring.debian.org" but it didn't work. Therefore, I did some further research, and I read from https://wiki.debian.…

Armbian documentation on Overlays refers to /boot/armbianEnv.txt. But in the version of Armbian that I'm running (on a Cubietruck, ARMBIAN 5.36 user-built Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.13.16-sunxi) there is no such file. There is however a copy in directory /usr/share/armbian. Is this the overlay file that is processed at start-up? If so, it would be good if the documentation was updated.

Dear all, I love Armbian on my Banana Pro and so I also would like to use this OS on my brand mew Odroic C2. Every installation and configuration works except installing TVHeandend. I tried to compile it because via armbian-config it does not work. But it does not matter which branch I use and which option I try it is not possibe to install on mainline or legacy version. I do not need transcoding - the TVHeadend server just should serve my Kodi with dvbs. Can anybody send me an instruction to compile TVHeadend with Armbian on Odroid C2 sucessuflly? Maybe it is possible to compile completely without ffmpeg? T…

Hi I would like to add Armbian version to banner after login (eg. v5.10) to be sure that I'm using latest version. Is this value stored somewhere in the filesystem? I already checked: /proc/version /etc/debian_version /etc/os-release but it's not there. I found it in /etc/armbian.txt but this is plain text file and parsing it to fetch the value is a little overkill. Is there a better place where I can find it?

I guess this is hardware-independent, so I post here. Looking for ways to disable IPv6 I found 3 ways to achieve this on Linux, none of them really working for armbian debian build. 1. /etc/sysctl.conf: net.ipv6.conf.all.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.default.disable_ipv6 = 1 net.ipv6.conf.lo.disable_ipv6 = 1 this disables the network interfaces to use IPv6, not IPv6 itself. This method is also known to cause trouble e.g with X-Forwarding via SSH and Postfix server. netstat still lists IPv6 entries 2. /etc/default/grub (GRUB tells the kernel not to load IPv6) This does not exist in armbian, I guess it is simply not using GRUB …

Breaking the ice here. So hello everyone. I am still entry into SBCs and have been loving every moment of it. I started with the Raspberry PI 3B, and have recently been playing with the new Asus Tinkerboard. One of my SBC projects is to build a little media streaming device for some dumb monitors with HDMi input I have lying around. The Tinkerboard was very appealing to me because of its gigabit Ethernet, I thought it would make a much better quality internet streaming device. We seem to be lacking a browser for ARMh7 that can support Netflix and other like services playback. chromium is missing the needed WideVine plugin, and I have yet to find a …

I'm trying to create a microSD card to boot Armbian, but first would be inserted into a Windows laptop to edit some configuration. To make the microSD show up in Windows, the first partition must be a FAT partition, and so Linux would be ext4 partion 2. I suspect I'll need to put the /boot partition on the FAT volume, with directions to load from mmcblk1p2. In case it matters, this is a Rock64 without emmc. I've just started this research, but I'd be grateful for any u-boot-savvy person's help here. Thanks.

Getting into buildroot and yocto seems a bit too much for me to get an A+B style update possibility. I would like to stick with the quality images provided by Armbian. The following applies to a NanoPi-NEO3 others SBC might have different partition layouts. From what I understood is that uboot looks for /boot in /dev/mmcblk0p1 reads the boot.cmd/scr and armbianEnv.txt and then boots the kernel accordingly. The armbianEnv.txt seems to point the kernel to the root partition using the rootdev directive. If /dev/mmcblk0p1 would now only hold /boot would it be possible to point to a different partition for the rootfs using armbianEnv.txt? …

Hello everyone! I tried to enable cedrus264 encoder/decoder on my old OrangePI Lite 2 (revision 1 if I am right). I used stulluk's repository as the base to patch the last FFMpeg revision and to add cedrus264 encoder using the new FFMpeg API. The result is built and tested. Unfortunately, I have had no success: the encoder says: ffmpeg -f video4linux2 -input_format mjpeg -video_size 1280x720 -i /dev/video1 -c:v cedrus264 -pix_fmt nv12 -f mp4 video.mp4 ffmpeg version N-103904-gb2538ce578 Copyright (c) 2000-2021 the FFmpeg developers built with clang version 12.0.1 (https://github.com/llvm/llvm-project.git fed41342a82f5a3a9201819a82bf7a48313e296…

New user here Quick question re: the "Install to eMMC" script detailed in the getting started guide here: https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-install-to-emmc-nand-sata-usb Does it put a fresh install of Armbian onto the eMMC? or Does it move the configured install from the SD card to the eMMC? The situation is that I have a live home server which is in use by the family all the time but is playing up a little so i was going to re-install it. Rather than take it offline and configure the board all in one go which would take a while. I wondered if i could boot from a new SD card and configure it as needed (over a f…

Since December 2013, when I started to deal with CLI Debian images and support them, things become ... bigger. My prime motivation was only to build an working Linux image for some amateur based services. Project brought a lot of fun, a lot of new toys on my desk but also tears and frustrations. I hope and wish that public use our work to the greatest degree. Blog comments - your questions and (not only my) answers - become large and valuable knowledge base for ARM single board computers and general Debian / Ubuntu problems. I already manage to pack some of the into the FAQ but I'll need your help and patience within summarizing this into General FAQ. You only need…

Very often when i do apt update or apt dist-upgrade some of the armbian mirrors acts up and pretty much denies connections (it isnt the generic debian mirrors as other distros are working fine). I assume they are just overloaded and theres not much to do about that. But it has caused one of my system to be out of date for a few weeks I assume because the unattended upgrade script doesnt retry. How do I get this to work? for example some times i have to retry up to 10 times before I can get apt to work (when I try manually). The apt configuration in etc is a bit of magic to me so Id appreciate if someone can guide me to get unattended upgrades to retry connecti…

R40 is a new SoC from Allwinner known as 'quad-core A20 successor' (link to datasheet). It shares most hardware details with A20 (true SATA, GbE -- EMAC and GMAC listed separately -- 2 USB2.0 host ports, one USB OTG, and fortunately also PMIC/battery support (link to AXP221s datasheet). Unfortunately Allwinner chose a manufacturing partner known for never providing exact specs/info to produce the first R40 device available. So we won't get any info about performance and working hardware features unless we buy this device on our own and test. I just had a quick look into one already released OS image 'funnily' based on one of our Armbian OS images for a H3 board: …

Dear community, dear @Igor (as maintainer of NEO3 CSC), thanks a lot for the NEO3 support. This board ran rock solid for me approx. two years straight – much more stable than my other SBCs running Armbian (due to various reasons, no offense :)). However, the board failed to boot with "ERROR: Did not find a cmdline Flattened Device Tree". It appears that ``rk3328-nanopi-neo3-rev02.dtb`` went missing. This must have happened when upgrading the package ``linux-dtb-current-rockchip64`` from 21.08.2 to 22.02.1. As a workaround, it helps to (download the CSC image for the board again, get the file out of the image,) place the file in ``/boo…

I've been working on this for 3 days now. Don't know what I'm missing. I also tried installing lightdm, no change. I could also use the shut down command. Tried everything I could think of there too. Hi, I'am the new one. I'am German and bought last month an OrangePi PC+ from AliExpress without a clue what todo with it, but it was cheap ;-) And it was perfect for my new OMV. Just installing OMV on top of Armbian / Jessie was not enough because of missing Quota Kernel Options. When setting up a development Enviroment, I found the excellent Build-Scripts of Armbian and thought, why not making an OMV-Image with the customize-image.sh. And here is it (quick and dirty v0.1) Just copy it with a modified kernel.config under userpatches. It should work with every supported Armbian Board as long as its working with Debian Jessie, because it installes OMV3.X I com…

@TonyMac32 I have bought a Firefly-RK3399 from firefly ( http://shop.t-firefly.com/goods.php?id=45 ). I did not realize it at the time of purchase, but the Mosfets are unable to provide sufficient power for the board plus the USB ports, EDP connector, MIPI-CSI interface, M.2 slot, etc. I really love the IO of the board and want to try to find a way to get it to work (plus I don't have the money to go trying out more boards ). Would your idea help such a board? Thanks!

I am attempting to format and mount a 256GB MicroSD as an external USB device on an OPZ. Formatting in EXT4 consistently throws errors but using FAT32 or VFAT works fine with the inherent limitations of those file systems of permissions and 4GB file size. When attempting to install the exfat apps I get the following error: __ apt update (OK) apt-get install exfat-fuse (OK) apt-get install exfat-utils (fails) Package exfat-utils is not available, but is referred to by another package. Recently we bought several BananaM2+ boards to integrate them into our future fiscal project We are developing software using Armbian Linux Debian-3.4.113-sun8i with standard core, which was chosen as a stable platform. For now we have a problem with integration. Due to our fiscal laws the board should be placed in the fiscal box with no access from outside. Now we are testing the board “on the table†using typical operations (even without loading it by typical cashiers operations) and the temperature rises very high. As a result the board starts switching off processor’s cores leaving only 1 working. We even still haven’t started testing the board placed into…

rk3288.txtHi all, I stumbled across a board which may be of interest for one of my next projects. Here you can find a link to it, it is model JLD076 I have the board already on my desk, and as it is really well equipped with loads of interfaces, I would love to get Armbian working on it. J have attached the boot log from console to the message, it uses Uboot 2017, and seems to be based on a standard Rockchip eval board. Onboard peripherials are handled by the usual suspects: ethernet by RTL8211, WiFi by RTL8732, and some of the display links by ALC6540. eMMC is fixed on the baord, so RKUSB is needed (can be invoked by Uboot command or bu…

I've got one of these boards. It is just Kernel development that has ceased as there are no maintainers? (Had I had the skills, I would have happily maintained it. ;-( ) Also, to get the latest Kernel later on, is it as simple as obtaining the official sources and then compiling (or cross-compiling to ARM) and then install the Kernel? On this one I'm a bit like a duck out of water and if anyone can point me along the right path, all help will be greatly appreciated.

Hi evereyone, After doing some upgrades my Pi-hole Admin Page was not reachable anymore, while blocking still worked. 1. Problem The lighttpd service was not running because of the missing folder /var/log/lighttpd. So lighttpd crashes when trying to access /var/log/lighttpd/error.log and access.log. Reinstalling Pi-hole and lighttpd didnt solve the problem. So I first created the folder myself: sudo mkdir /var/log/lighttpd sudo chown -R www-data: www-data /var/log/lighttpd Then I reinstalled Pi-hole and lighttpd, now lighttpd was running. Hi, guys. I need some help in understanding of usage AR100 (OpenRISC) coprocessor inside H3 SoC for the own real-time tasks. Now i'm using mainline kernel built with RT-PREEMPT patch. I'm using it with Machinekit (LinuxCNC) software to control stepper drivers/motors via GPIO step/dir pulses. But step pulses frequency is too slow (about 17 kHz) because the RT kernel latency is about 30 us. I think we can use the built-in coprocessor for the realtime GPIO toggling. The AR100 and main Cortex-A7 can talk to each other with built-in MSGBox. And the question is - how to launch my own firmware on the AR100 core?

I know I'm trying to be lazy but why can't we install the PREEMPT_RT kernel from the Debian Bookworm Repositories? eg with: sudo apt install linux-image-rt-arm64. This appears to work but it does not boot into the new RT kernel. Downloaded the deb file and used sudo dpkg-i and it also failed to boot yet this command works if we install a RT kernel we built in the build environment Ran armbian-config and tried to install the kernel but alas its not displayed in the list. Why not? I can pull down Debian Bookworm for the Raspberry Pi from the Debian site and install preempt_rt this way. Why does Armbian make it so hard? …

My goal is to use Radxa Rock3a with a large 3.5inch HDD as a first step. Works fine if I use a M.2 E-key adapter which connects on the PCIe2.0 x1 lane and provides SATA via a JMB 5-port chip (only 2 connectors, support is in U-boot default Armbian build 2024.10). Worked also if I use an overlay included in early 6.1.84-vendor-rk35xx builds that maps RK3568 SATA onto the PCIe2.0 M.2 connector traces/signals, but now the whole 6.1.84-vendor-rk35xx ends in panic. I have not looked at exact changes (it is from the beta channel), but it was working with trunk.x and now installed variant is from trunk.y. I might not be able to find exact numbers for x and …

I am getting a series of errors related to EXT4 zram checksum that look like this one: [3328.749555] EXT4-fs error (device zram0): ext4_readdir:189: inode #11 com find: path var/log/lost+found directory fails checksum at offset 4096 (and other offsets) I've seen a recommendation as a possible fix to the checksum error : disabling metadata_csum, using "tune2fs -O ^metadata_csum /dev/zram0", with the file system umounted (I don't know how to unmount zram) The error apparently is related to bad hardware (not the case) , old kernels that don't support new versions of programs capable of altering the fs. Like a newer checksum feature, or a new…

Hi all, I bought a Orange Pi PC 2 a couple of months back, loaded the Armbian image successfully and tweaked it until it was just right for my application. As this piece of hardware was going to live on a remote property, I bought another 2 Orange Pi PC 2 boards and some new SD cards with the intention of having 2 backups - one for development and the other as spare. I cloned the SD card by copying the active EXT4 partition across to the blank SD card using GParted. The long and the short of it is that these images did not work. I know the hardware is good as the original SD card works in the new OPi PC2 boards. Likewise the new cards don't wo…

Hi, Is it possible to install python in armbian OS. Thank you for the answer

Thank you for everything you’ve done. Armbian is amazing. On Raspberry PI devices, it’s possible to pass parameters to the kernel at boot-up and force certain IO pins to go high as soon as shutdown is complete. It’s along the lines of “dtoverlay=gpio-poweroff,gpiopin=xx”. I’m guessing that GPIO-POWEROFF is a kernel overlay, that it’s specific to Raspbian, and that Armbian may have a similar overlay. What’s the best way to discover the name of Armbian’s corresponding overlay, please? That overlay would enable me to configure the relevant single-board computer to send a signal at shutdown, a signal that would cause the charging/power circ…

I've already benchmarked a computer-interactivbe task (like image processing) on the Orangepi 5 plus's processor——and it wrapped up in just 40 minutes, which is impressively fast. Therefore, I' like to try the NPU. Anyone know how to tap into its NPU for AI workloads?
