  1. As a newbie here I'd first like to send greetings to all members and to send a big THANK YOU to the support team. My problem is: After booting cubietruck and installing the updates the USB devices aren't recognized anymore. I'm using standard devices: wired Logitech mouse, wired Cherry keyboard. Updating went smoothly and finished normally. Immediately after it, at the console prompt the keyboard was already dead. I rebooted repeatedly via HW switch because I couldn't log in and keyboard LEDs were also off. My questions: What could I try to fix this? Is any important info missing? Here is an extraction fro…

I just created this account. During the account creation process there was a part where I had to click a checkbox saying that I agree to the forum rules & policies. But I didn't see a link to actually read the policies (I'm usually impatient about these things, I may have missed something obvious). Now, after the fact, I've spent more time looking, and I can't find the forum rules / policies. Is there a post or webpage somewhere detailing what they are?

  3. Hello, Is it just me or something has changed lately regarding the installation of u-boot on SPI? I have a Rock64 v2 and I am quite sure one year ago or more I used to update the SPI using the nand-sata-install script. Today I wanted to flash it again, but whenever I run the script (either via armbian-config) the error message in the title is shown and nothing occurs. Running Armbian 20.21 with legacy (4.4) kernel. Oh, the relevant u-boot package according to apt is installed. Thanks! Edit: The reason behind is to check if a newer code would finally support booting from the SSD plugged on the USB3 port, which nev…

  5. I'm a complete novice in the area of Linux on phones. I want to use Linux on my oneplus 8t and I am excited to find that armbian has official support for this. But before I install armbian on my phone, I am wondering if I can restore to android after I install armbian. I have another question which may be a bit offtopic: how hard is it to add support for oneplus 8t to Mobile NixOS? Thanks in advance.

  7. There are already several boards with the small SPI flash installed. This is perfect for the u-boot storage. Than the board starts from this SPI flash and looks for the /boot folder on SD card and USB storage. I've moved the system from the SD to USB HDD included the /boot folder and removed the SD card. When I power-on the board, the HDD starts and everything works fine. But when rebooted, the HDD is suspended at the shutdown end and the u-boot doesn't wait until it starts again and the booting fails as "No USB storage found". Is there any way how to disable the HDD suspend in the system? I was looking around how to disable this function somehow in the HDD itself ( Maxto…

  10. I read a lot of U Boot documentation the last hours but I still fail at fundamental understanding, like: - where can variables be set? boot.scr obviously, but there is also uEnv.txt boot.cmd armbianEnv.txt ... and in which order and precendence are they parsed? (If I set a variable in different files, which value will be used? first? last? ...) - how is a change made persistent (saveenv does not work) - Can sub-variables be changed, e.g. root in bootargs what I am trying to achieve atm is to change the boot partion rootdev from p1 to p2. Even thou I think I patched the relevant files, printenv shows that bootargs and rootdev are still set to…

  11. Hello guys! i had download armbian for bananapi m3(a83t) from arambian for bpi-m3. And braking my mind with friending sinovoip LCD+touchscreen module. I put the latest Armbian image on the rockpi, but I'm at a loss as to how I configure the device tree to make the screen work. I have verified that the screen does work on a Raspberry Pi 3B+ while using BTT's instructions here, but those instructions don't seem to translate to Armbian. All other examples I have found seem to be specific to the SBC vendor's custom branches. It looks like the vdd_mipi regulator is not enabled so I guess that should be the first step, how do I enable it? Thanks for your help!

  13. So I was trying to compile a wifi driver for a somewhat new usb wifi device and it breaks during compilation because it expects a directory named /usr/src/<linux-headers>/arch/aarch64 but on NanoPi NEO3 the directory is named (on NanoPI R4S is the same case btw) /usr/src/<linux-headers>/arch/arm64 In order to make it work, I created a symlink under the "arch" directory called "aarch64" pointing to "arm64" and I was able to compile it. Here is what happens when I try to compile it without the symlink: pablo@callampa:~/repos/github.com/morrownr/rtl8852cu-20240510$ make clean cd phl ; rm -fr */*/*/*/*.mod.c */*/*/*/*.mod */*/*/*…

Now if I make changes to this kernel module, and recompile it and reboot, the old one still gets called. If I rmmod and modprobe however, the new module gets loaded. The module I'm talking about is qcaspi. This issue doesn't occur on RPi so I'm thinking it could be an Armbian issue or an oversight by me. Any help please?

  23. I am building a custom image for rpi4b and everything works great so far. I only want to customize the installed packets and configuration, but I do not need a custom kernel. Since building the kernel is what takes by a wide margin most of the image generation time, I was wondering if there's a way to build the image without building the kernel (using the one from the official builds). I have browsed the documentation and found no way, so maybe it is not supported and building the kernel is mandatory?

  51. I installed Armbian on an Orangepi Plus 2e. I have set it as Plex server, Tvheadend and Samba enabled from armbian-config softy. All perfect until I activate the wifi access point also from armbian-config. Plex deconfigures me and I can no longer access it. Is there any incompatibility?

  52. Armbian 22.05.0-trunk with bleeding edge Linux 5.16.20-rockchip64 my armbian runs on a MKS SKIPR motherboard for a 3d printer. Since I updated the system, I can no longer change any files. I change it but after a restart the file is back as it was.since i have updated the system for example this file nano /etc/resolv.conf After saving and restarting everything is as it was. no matter whether as root or user Is there a setting that prevents or reverses changes?

  53. Hi there! I am using a H3 board with TV out on a small 3.5" LCD screen (with composite->RGB24 IC). But I have a problem with picture being way too bright/washed out. The LCD luminosity can be modified with LCD-driving IC buttons, when set to lower value the picture gets better but colors are still too bright (even if luminosity is low) I have tested the LCD with raspberry pi and output colors are normal. I was wondering if there is a known reason for this and if it can be fixed? So far I have just found a topic about a raspberry pi HDMI output being too bright (https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=50726) They su…

Since 23.08 I had the first part about only community creation, which I already did not understand but now it looks worse as it also mention Buster when I use Bookworm. What can cause this strange information? And what can I try to solve this?

  82. Happy New Year to Everyone, Am I right to assume there is no power management at all when using a SSD on a usb to sata adapter in Linux? I have this crazy plan to salvage a broken laptop and replace the dead motherboard with a sbc and other components to make the laptop useful again and one with better battery life, than 3 hours while building websites it used to give me. When the usb to sata adapter is plugged in alone, it consumes 50ma more which is ok. 83. I rebooted from the 6.6.16-current-sunxi kernel to the 6.7.4-edge-sunxi on my Orange Pi +2E and it couldn't mount some partitions from a USB stick. These use LVM2, and each partition is encrypted using LUKS2 with a keyfile stored in /etc (yes, I know this is a fig leaf encryption, but it prevents someone from grabbing the USB stick and getting the contents of the drive). This works fine with the older kernel, but fails with the newer kernel. I use the exact same setup on a Rock 64 board, and it works fine, on the 6.7.4-edge-rockchip64 kernel.
