Hello! First of all. Sry if this was already menationed ins some thread. I tried to find the solution here I am using a ROCKPI E. I switchted my OS from Ubutnu to ARMBIAN 23.8 Bookworm. I am still confused, if this was a good idea. I read that ARMBIAN should be the “better” OS for the KERNEL. Is there a rule of thumb what to use? On my Ubuntu i made some settings to route my IPS, since i am controling a pump on ETH0 and using my LAN on ETH1. On UBUNTU i made this changes on dhcpcd.conf: interface eth0 static ip_address=192.168.1.50/24 static router=192.168.1.2 static domain_name_server=8.8.8.8 Since this file does not exi…

Hi, I am working on a PR[0] to the Armbian build framework. As suggested in the PR, I am trying to use the upstream U-Boot source and apply the required patches[1][2] on top of it. One of the patch series[2] requires a git subtree[3] to be added to the U-Boot source before applying the patch itself. However, it seems that Armbian's build framework first attempts to apply the required patches[4] on the U-Boot source and then calls the pre_config_uboot_target hook[5]. Currently, I've put the code to add the git subtree in the pre_config_uboot_target hook. As a result, the required patch series are not getting applied. Is there any way in which we can co…

Hi folks, I'm new to the Armbian project. I have an old board (pcduino3nano) that I never managed to get working because I found the built in OS to be lacking and the general linksprite environment poor as compared to that of the RaspberryPi. So I put the pcduino away for awhile and never really got anywhere with it, but recently decided to give it a go again. I found two projects that claim to "officially" support this board (either current or past). Armbian and Fedora for Arm. Because Armbian has EOSd the pcduino family of boards I started with the Fedora project and found that it worked but only as a server/cli the GUI no matter which deskto…

hello dear All, first of all - i am very glad to be here in this great forum. i have heard that i can run Armbian on Orange Pi as well. And i have also heard some thing regading H6. The implementation of the PCI Express controller of H 6 is known to be broken. Is it still the case. Is there any extended H6-support through armbian?

Hello! Really appreciating armbian having good notes on how to get up and running on a specific device. Thanks! I have these wifi cards, RTL8821AE. If I `apt install hostapd` I can get hostapd to start up. If I use `hostapd-realtek` it doesn't. Some of the armbian docs say look for and try '/usr/sbin/hostapd-rt', but I can't figure out how to get that; Maybe that note is out of date? It starts up, but doesn't seem to work. I have wlp0s0 in a bridge with the LAN ports. It seems like I'm able to associate to my SSID, but nothing's going across the bridge. No DHCP is happening, etc. I'm just trying to make a access point rig…

Hi everyone, After migrating to a nvme ssd using the recommended official adapters, I've run into this issue. (Been really frustrating not been able to boot reliably, replug it until it works) Before I migrated, if I went fdisk -l it would start flashing and always show up. It's only when booting, it seems to be unable to boot/stay on most of the time. 1) I put power into pi. 2) The ssd blinks, if it stops blinking, it didn't boot. If it keeps blinking success. Is there a way to delay mounting the ssd or better debug this issue?

Hi everyone! To cut long story short I have to make a microUSB port work as USB Host. I found out that there is a patch that will bring the port up. Last year I managed to build a full custom image for my board using armbian documentation. I've already successfully upgraded software upto Armbian 23.8.1 Bullseye with Linux 6.1.53-current-sunxi So I'm going to build custom kernel with the patch applied to arch/arm/boot/dts/sun8i-r40.dtsi https://github.com/Vutlan/linux-sunxi/commit/e0b16f86b91b5b03c4acd041aa2d45eb688378b2#diff-fb8cf9a1a0b868557516caf54f4e966b ehci0: usb@1c14000 { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-r40-ehci", "generic-ehci"; reg = &l…

Hi all I am currently working on my Orange Pi Plus A31s. What I did with your image so far: The image Link for Debian Jessy pointed me to the Banana Pi M2 image. Downloaded it, dd-ed it to the sdcard, powerup, the red led keeps flashing for ever (waited 15 minutes) So i started to wander around the sdcard and noticed the link /boot/script.bin pointing io /boot/bin/bananapim2.bin. But this file was not present. I tried all 3 images, but i was unable to find that file. I copied it over from other project, that did not work. And I copied it from the same folder /boot/bin/orangepi.bin -> /boot/bin/bananapim2.bin with the same result. Can you help me wi…

Thanks for work on armbian! I've got nanopim4 recently, stable build worked like a charm out of the box (maybe w/o bluetooth) I digged into all build scripts, tried out the dev and even got a step forward. I'm actually ready to support further development with this board See my reports, attempts and links here: https://gist.github.com/razum2um/8e2bfbcffdcdb3a832a4862339330867 Would be glad if @Igor , @chwe or someone else helps with the wifi question there p.s. sorry for posting here, but I'm unable to post into `development` forum section for rk3399

I'm on a Rockpro64 rev2.1 and wanted to use the maximum of the availiable Power of this SoC, so i tried using cpufrequtils and the amrbian config for doing so and noticed two things: I can only set one of my CPU's frequencies and the maximum is 1800 MHz, so i searched this forum for a while and found out how to show the device tree table which is currently loaded(dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base/) and there is one unused mode for both of my CPUs, a 1992 MHz mode for the big chip and a 1512 MHz mode for the small chip, and at this point im stuck. What could i do to load this modes in the cpufrequtils or the armbian config? Spoiler dt…

I'm running Armbian buster on an Orange Pi PC plus single board computer. In Armbian Stretch I used to be able to use the analogue output in stereo mode so I could use this sbc as a music player, but after upgrading to Buster pavucontrol only gives me the following option for analogue sound output (the other Built-in audio source is HDMI audio wich works fine in stereo mode but I'm not using): I would highly appreciate if someone could help me fix this issue. I have already tried reinstalling pulseaudio and copying the configuration files from the previous Stretch installation, but didn't have any luck with that.

Hi guys, I try to reinstall my tvheadend, but unfortunately it always tells me suddenly some depencies which I can't solve. libhdhomerun4 (>= 20200521) But it's installed and in Buster stable only available: libhdhomerun4:armhf (20180327-1) When i try to install it manuelly, then there is the next depency to libc-bin and so on... a never ending story. Actually tvheadend worked already quite well, but suddenly it stopped working. So I thought maybe it's the best idea to reinstall tvheadend. And now there is even bigger trouble.

Hi, I'm trying to enable the I2C at the U-BOOT stage, but so for with no success. I'm using Lamobo-R1 (Allwinner A20), but I guess that general tips from similar boards (Banana PI etc.) are still very welcome. I read these posts, and tried what has been suggested here, but with no success I2C control in u-boot: Orange Pi Zero enable i2c at u-boot for NanoPi Neo2 u-boot with I2C This is what I've done so far: I've modified the u-boot device tree to enable the I2C bus (I did the same with the kernel device-tree, and here it does work!!) I've added to Lamobo_R1_deconfig the next configurations: CONF…

I've had two Cubietrucks running almost flawlessly for about 10 years on Armbian/Buster and previous versions. I recently decided to install Bookworm using Armbian_23.8.1_Cubietruck_bookworm_current_6.1.47.img.xz. On this I encountered several problems, whose causes I never fully uncovered, but got over them. One of these problems was that neither manual setup nor the use of armbian-config allowed for a lasting configuration of the German keyboard layout, although "Personal Setting" says the opposite (see att. image No.2). It's a pain in the neck, really. All I could filter out is a commandline message that's only visible a second. See the last screenshot with fou…

Hi, I used to run a full docker environment using the Radxa Debian buster image upgraded to bullseye. Lately as the backport repo has been archived I decided to move onto Armbian as upgrading bullseye to bookworm did not boot (or seemed so...). After flashing the latest Rockpi4 image to the Rockpi4, I copied the docker configuration and files backups. I now have a akward behavior: - starting all the stacks (or containers) works fine, all seems ok - rebooting via sudo reboot provokes an endless reboot cycle which is only ended if I unplug the USB Zigbee coordinator key. Once the loop is stopped, the RockPi does not have any IPv4 address (only IPv…

Hi all, I've been reading a lot about VPU acceleration for h264 decoding and encoding. However, it seems that there is not much regarding transcoding (decoding + encoding). I would be interested in decoding 1080p h264 and encoding it back to 720p h264 in realtime. Ideally having that operation on 2 streams in parallel would be great. I've seen that quite some work has been done in cedrus As I can, h264 decoding seems to be supported but encoding is unclear. And there is obviously no comment about running both operations at the same time. Since I would like to run a few tests and maybe help a bit, what hardware should I order…

I installed the Armbian desktop environment via armbian-config. Then I disabled it, and I saw that many of the packages were uninstalled by my next "apt upgrade". I want to install them again, but armbian-config only lets me "enable" or "disable" the Desktop now. It won't install anything anymore. So my question is how do I redo what armbian-config did during the first time, to reinstall all Armbian desktop files?

Hi all, Using Armbian Focal for a couple of years now and booting from an SSD plugged to USB (used the armbian installer to move to it) and it always worked perfectly but after an apt-update (stupid of me I know) I'm now stuck on a boot loop, it looks like the entire system is fubar'd. I don't mind formatting and reinstalling everything, the problem is that I lost the eMMC to USB converter I had and can't find any in the UK... Attached an image of what I'm seeing. Anything I can do to either salvage or do a fresh new install without the eMMC converter? Can be removed. Did a full format.

Hi. I am just wondering what the fastest time people have getting from plug in power to command prompt on something like the NanoPi M1 or Neo. I use one of mine as an command line mp3 player (mpg123) and pretty much that;s all it does apart form some gpio buttons. It does not use network. Are there any tips on speeding up boot so playback can commence faster? I have never build a version of Armbian, but I am willing to give it a try - would a custom version be much faster? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Are there any other images floating around that could demo a faster speed? J.

Got a bit of a weird issue and the search in Armbian site is not helping much due to words with few characters.. Have a Opi+2E running Armbian Ubuntu 16.04.1 xenial desktop and an ethernet connection. Solved. It was just me not rebooting when needed.. Sorry for the noise.

I am aware that the Raspberry Pi 1, 2,3 can transmit Radio waves on GPIO pin 4 and 18. There are even special skins that filter the output. " Previously we posted about the Raspberry Pi’s ability to modulate one of its pins to produce FM transmissions with PiFM. A developer (F5OEO) has recently expanded on this idea, and now the Raspberry Pi is capable of modulating and transmitting FM, AM, SSB, SSTV and FSQ signals anywhere between 130 kHz to 750 MHz. To transmit with the Raspberry Pi all you need to do is plug in a wire antenna to Pin 12 (GPIO 18) on the GPIO port and run the PiTx software by piping in an audio file or image for SSTV. " …

Hi, I installed the Armbian OS on Rockchip 3399 platform, so far things seems to be working okay. I am looking on a project which required H.264 decode and color color conversion from NV12 - > BGRx. Hi, I setup a Radxa Zero 2 last week with Klipper, a 3d printing firmware. Over the past few months, I've transitioned my printer to using canbus. I'm finding the setup process slightly different with Armbian than it was on RpiOS, and I'd appreciate feedback or pointers that could help me better understand networking in Armbian. I use a usb canbus adapter. In the past, I've configured it using the standard Klipper config written to `/etc/network/interfaces.d/can0`: allow-hotplug can0 iface can0 can static bitrate 1000000 up ifconfig $IFACE txqueuelen 1024 So, when I went to setup the Radxa, I did what I've always done, and i…

I have a Windows PC and I'm going to install a Linux distribution to do some software development for my Raspberry Pi and my Orange Pi. I like Mint but since I am starting over... is there any specific OS that would be easier to use than another when I am looking at Pi? Like if I wanted to build a new Armbian image. What are people generally using as their main OS for development? Edit: Build docs mention this, so maybe Ubuntu 14.04 LTS is cleanest if that's already being used by some devs? creates development environment on the top of X86/AMD64 Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, Thanks! According to FriendlyARM the soon available pcDuino4 Nano is a 100 percent compatible variant of NanoPi M1: http://www.cnx-software.com/2016/09/13/20-pcduino4-nano-is-yet-another-allwinner-h3-development-board-sort-of/#comment-531770 In case you want to run Armbian on your pcDuino4 Nano please choose the OS images for M1: http://www.armbian.com/nanopi-m1/ (the sole purpose of this thread is to feed our forum search and external search engines. No need to really discuss this hardware @Igor: As soon as the first user confirms Armbian works you could add IMO a download page similar to the one for Orange Pi+ 2 )

When I power down H3-devices I see quite different results. Normally I use 'sudo poweroff' which should behave like 'shutdown -P'. I guess the command was successfull when the last message on the serial console reads "Power down." This works with Legacy Images. Power consumption drops significantly. On the NEO and OPi Zero to somewhat 150 mW, NEO Air 250 mW. To my surprise the Orange Pi One drops even to 0 mW. Question 1: Why is that? Is it different voltage regulators, or are parts of some boards purposefully kept powered on? Testing Mainline Images things are more simple: I never even reach the "power down"-target, the sys…

The problem is: in our community (forum.iobroker.net) came up problems with mounting to a nas by cifs. ioBroker is a smart home management, and a new module ("adapter") has been designed to provide automated backups to a nas. in most cases this works fine, but on some platforms with armbian it fails with the message: cifs filesystem not supported by the system I'm not that linux crack, but i tried to find out what could cause this, I found at this site https://www.linuxquestions.org/question ... 175593855/ so…

I'm using the latest WIP config for the NanoPC-T6 build. I've discovered a problem that I don't have using an official FriendlyARM Debian image on the device. I have one HDMI output connected to a dual input screen in desktop mode. It works fine if I select the NanoPC-T6 screen input from the start, but if at a later stage I swap the screen input to a different source and back again, the NanoPC-T6 does not output video. I can ssh to the box but there is nothing obvious in either dmesg or syslog. summary-build-476d3c90-225f-4793-8dbb-01abf490e940.md

Hi, I'm trying to run with a PREEMPT_RT kernel to get a real-time (lowest latency as possible) performance. But in addition to the PREEMPT_RT patch, I want to make sure the system doesn't go to sleep (or using power save modes) to avoid additional wake-ups latencies (that the PREEMPT_RT patch cannot reduce). I've reviewed the AXP209 datasheet and tried to understand if I can somehow disable the system from going to sleep, but I didn't find the answer for that. I do know that register 0x31 can control the entrance to sleep mode if we write '1' to bit-3, but I can't prevent other drivers or applications from doing it. Question: Is th…

As listed in the topic, this is my desired and actual partition table setup for a lot of my computers. The U-boot 'partition 0' is typically somewhere in sector 1 till where partition 1 starts and only for SoCs/boards that do not understand any filesystem, like Allwinner and Rockchip based platforms. Also old BIOS PCs actually. It can be MBR or GPT (+hybrid) if more than 4 partitions are needed, for multi-boot, like adding Linux to a new Win11 pre-installed PC. The FAT is ESP or just type 0x0c/0x0700. Now I am struggling a bit with the case where a preinstalled ROCK 3A (RK3568, board ordered, not delivered yet) image has FAT mounted in /boot. RaspberryPi and U…

Hi! After installing mesa-va-drivers and vainfo, I'm only getting an error message that `rockchip_drv_video.so` is missing. So, evidently there's a VA driver registered and available (somewhere), but the file is missing? Where do I find it, how do I install it? Thank you

I am trying to make a pair of scripts, guiup & guidown, that will disable/enable the gui at boot and start/stop it now. "systemctl [stop/start] lightdm.service" works for doing it now, but "systemctl [disable/enable] lightdm.service" does not work as expected. Systemctl disable does work, but then when I enable it again and reboot, lightdm does not come up. Some clues maybe : root@bananapim2:~# systemctl disable lightdm Synchronizing state of lightdm.service with SysV init with /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install... Executing /lib/systemd/systemd-sysv-install disable lightdm insserv: warning: current start runlevel(s) (empty) of script `lightdm' overrides L…
