  1. Hello Everyone! I faced with some problems with csi driver on mainline kernel. The study of the Internet did not give any result. Probably someone already done the same things, and could answer on couple of my questions? My configuration: custom board based on A20 SoC (quite similar with Olimex Lime2), armbian-buster-desktop 20.05.0, Linux Kernel 5.4.41, and OV5640 CSI camera connected to CSI0 in parallel 8bit mode. My questions are: 1) Can anyone confirm that the sun4i_csi module in Mainline kernel works (with any CSI camera)? 2) Does the sun4i_csi module work with CSI1 port too? 3) If someone already run OV5640 via CSI on A20 SoC, what is the maximum fps can…

  2. Ahoy! I'm looking for a cheap SBC with mainline kernel support (so hopefully Armbian support too) and a stereo line-level input and output. I'd like to also have atleast an ARMv7 or later instruction set (need Neon instructions) and atleast 512 megs of RAM (but 1 or 2 gigs would be nice; and I could survive with 256MB if I work really hard). My use-case is that I intend to pair this up with a cheap mixer and run a few audio plugins via Ardour. Most plugins I use (generally stuff from the Guitarix project) depend on the ARM Neon instructions. The ModDevices project seems to be based off an ARMv7 instruction set based 1GB board so it's kinda sorta my…

Today I installed Armbian_20.05.7_Odroidxu4_buster_current_5.4.50_minimal.img and started the installation of Pihole, which went through just fine. Then I attempted to install Unbound, but got an error message. The command I run was: sudo apt install unbound -y And this is what was returned: Reading package lists... 4. Hi, I've just got my fantastic XU4, and worked out that Armbian is amazing on it, thanks to everyone that put all this work in it's amazing So powerful is this little bad boy that I've started researching replacing my Windows Desktop but I need two 1440p monitors because of my eye problems. Anyway I've been looking at using USB3 Displaylink adaptors for this, am I barking up the wrong tree here? It looks like on paper the "qgeem usb3 "M7VC01" on Armbian" should do the trick, does anyone have two of these working? or even one? Cheers TIA Rich

Hi there, I'm currently struggling to get the Cedrus VPU up and running. I have downloaded the specific version from bootlin and got the kernel up and running, however the V3s isn't supported by the Sunxi SRAM driver. This driver is important to get the VPU going. I tried altering the devicetree of the V3s to match a SoC that is somehow similiar, but it clearly failed for obvious reasons. 10. I would like to announce that I am getting started on an armbian-derived project, Armbian-NG. This is not a fork of Armbian, nor a rewrite, it's a derived project that piggyback's on the excellent work by Igor and the entire armbian development team. I think of Armbian-NG as armbian's little clumsy brother, who is just learning to walk but has great potential. In as few words as possible, Armbian-NG will be a Python (set of) script(s) that runs natively on Aarch64 (64-bit ARM) hardware (running Ubuntu 18.04 or later) to build Armbian images. More details can be found here: https://github.com/AndrewBCN/Armbian-NG As with armbian, anybody is welcome to con…

  11. Hello. I've been playing with several low-cost SBCs for a couple of weeks now and I'm totally hooked on these incredible little things. Most of my boards are Orange Pi's simply because of the low cost (but I do have ODROID XU4 and a couple RPis too). Somehow one of my favorites seem to be the little OPi Zero (H2+), I'm using it as a "shell account" for if and when I need access to linux command line (most of my "big machines" are Win-based). However the Zero's POE implementation is... kinda non-existant really. You can read more about it elsewhere, let's just say it isn't usable without additional hardware. For my purposes, the OPiZero H2+ is powe…

I've built scripts for the server and client to automate the install process including moving the MySQL database, so you can locate it to a NFS mount instead of serving the database from the slower SD card. The deb packages do not work for ARM, so you have to build it from source using my scripts. Install Zabbix

This will replace User Space IO. I'm seeing GPIO write speeds of 500K/s from userspace. Compared to User Space IO and libgopid speeds of 2K/s. I switched from JNA wrapper generation to JNI wrapper generation. The build process is much simpler (only single install.sh) and building libgpiod is no longer required. 35. I just released a new C library for communicating with those inexpensive 4-digit 7-segment LED displays: https://github.com/bitbank2/tm1637 They can run on 3.3V or 5V and draw between 1 and 15mA depending on the brightness setting. I purchased mine from an AliExpress vendor for 68 cents each with free shipping. They use a custom 2-wire communications protocol and must be "bit-banged" from 2 GPIO pins. In my demo, I assign pins 38 and 40 on my Orange Pi Lite.

From some research appear that using it instead of glibc make programs consume a lot less ram and less space on disk. Since, from what i know, programs do not statically link to glibc, but dynamically link to a generic libc at runtime, could be possible to use musl as drop in replacement for libc, without rebuild everything? This should be a thread where we every one is invited to improve the 'Support over Forum' situation (there was some discussion about it in the nightly & tkaisers support propsal thread). Threads like this one showed clearly that a lot of good supporters and problem solvers gets more and more frustrated about the situation. Being new as moderator on this board, I have some questions: What do you (as a good problem solver) expect should a moderator do, to avoid situations like this? Should moderators keep the development threads as clean as possible as long as images for those boards are in experimental stage? (throw out every: i'm also interessted in gettin…

  53. Hi there, I am about to use an OrangePi Zero to handle the temperature and display some information on a custom contraption related to network. The problem I have is that this contraption will be powered on and powered off at will, without notice. So... I guess that after some time, the Zero running Armbian won't be that happy about being shut off brutally. I have seen some setups with supercapacitors for Raspberry Pis, but has anyone in here tried something similar with the OrangePi Zero? Or anything else that would delay the power loss, so that the board can shutdown properly? I made searches about supercapacitors with Armbian, but only found some…

I also purchased a few small LCDs so I could make small independent thing that wouldn't require a huge display - perhaps even portable ones. While I do enjoy using the terminal for practically anything (give me lynx, rtv, byobu and the likes and I'm happy), there are certain advantages in a graphical user interface. But let's face it, the default UIs with modern window managers are... not exactly designed for small, low-res screens. I found a big rackable USB hub, but that's not what I am looking for, and 2.4A max per slot may be too weak for some of the boards. 82. I'm currently on the hunt for the cheapest decently reliable board to use for building a glusterfs cluster. Requirements are simple: GbE, SATA port, arm64, preferably low power. While helios64 is obviously the way to go for a NAS when it lands, it's totally overkill for a setup like this and I just realized that ODROID HC2 won't fly due to being 32-bit only. Most other 64-bit boards require expansion boards for SATA, which drags up the total cost. Finally I realized that the PC Engines APU boards fit all criteria, and come with what I understand to be performant GX-412TC CPUs. This one, for example, for 86EUR (maybe a bit on the pricey side, but I have…

They all seem to have some limitations that likely mean ~100Mbps either from the 100M ports or the R1S' USB2 connected port so that's fine. I'm most drawn to the R1S for price and included case. Questions are: 1) Are these the only decent <=$30 devices for this task? 2) Is one of these known to be more stable/reliable? 3) Is there a likely software support issue with any of them? The deployment model is pretty simple. Plug WAN in to and DHCP port, have the firewall locked down tight, and bridge a ZT network into the LAN port.
