I've got a Sony RX100VA camera that I want to connect to the NanoPi Neo2 running Armbian Buster. On the Camera I can select the type of USB connection: -Auto -Mass Storage -MTP -PC Remote My intention is to use the PC Remote connection for use with gphoto2, this works fine on a PC with Ubuntu 18.04, but when I connect the camera to the Nano Pi Neo2 with Armbian, the camera display shows connecting (but doesn't connect). I suspect a bug in the OS, but I am unsure how to find it. lsusb gives the following report with an error: can't get debug descriptor: Resource temporarily unavailable root@nanopineo2:~# lsusb -d 054c:0cb2 -v…

Armbianmonitor: http://ix.io/2g5I I recently started playing around with OrangePi Zero with the Allwinner H2+ CPU. I want to test out the internal audio DAC. To do so I enabled "analog-coded" in armbian-config. After rebooting I saw a new audio device in the output of "pacmd list-cards", but it says that only mono is available. How can I configure stereo sound? I haven't played around with "/etc/asound.conf" much as I don't understand it. Also, I don't have anything plugged into the audio pins on the GPIO.

1-Wire works, I put the explanation at the end of this post. Hello There, yesterday I burned a fresh image of Armbian_20.02.5_Bananapi_buster_current_5.4.26 to replace my current setup (Armbian_5.91_Bananapi_Debian_buster_next_4.19.59) and I run into some trouble with 1-Wire. I tried everything I knew and found on the web but 1-Wire still won't work. So I need some help. My hardware setup was not changed and it worked for at least two years. So would rule out a wiring problem at the moment. My SoC is a Banana PI M1 ( http://www.banana-pi.org/m1.html ) The strange thing is, that 1-Wire wont come up by itself, I have to run mo…

I want to control a fan via a script. I found a bunch of tutorials for pwm, but they were either for older version of Armbian, or for another board. I could not find a tutorial for Allwinner H6 boards. Apparently simple overlays=pwm doesn't work anymore. Anyone have any pointers as to how to go about it? my goal is to do something like $ ./setfan.sh 50 Setting Fan Duty Cycle to 50%... Nothing more complicated. I have a 5V fan for the system and I just want to tune how fast it should run - now it's going full 100% and it's louder than I'd like. I planned to do this with a trimmer but because the world situation and distances, the trimmer…

I'm running a web cam on a OrangePiOne. For the last four days its been performing adequately, at least as well as the RaspiPiZero. At the moment though its suddenly decided to become a snail... slower than paint drying or melting blanc mange. So here I am looking for pointers. I don't have a lot of detail, but what I have follows. I'm using mjpg-streamer to handle the webcam. In the past this has been rock solid without issue, at this point I assume its not the problem in itself. Should I just got step-by-step using this instructions http://linux-sunxi.org/Sunxi-Cedrus ? The goal is to evaluate whether this is suitable solution for video surveillnace. I'd used kerberosio with an IP camera for couple years and this does not work good with motion detection.

I'm trying to make a master image to install to some NanoPI Neo boards. I have everything running fine from micro SD card. I used armbian-config to flash from SD to the eMMC and it boot and works. Now I'm looking for a way to flash the eMMC from command line in an automatic fashion, after looking for other threads in the forum I found about command nand-sata-install but it has a GUI and no --help parameter, so I guess it is not the exact program I have to use. I tested using dd command to copy the disk, but since there is this u-boot thing I think it is not just a standard disk copy because it failed (maybe my problem). My final idea is to have a master SD …

Hello community, I'm looking to build an internet cube (https://internetcu.be/). Basically, the project uses an A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 but I'm looking to see if a better armbian could do the job. So I have 4 models in mind: - Banana pro - Banana pi - A20-OLinuXino-LIME2 - Espressobin Which one is best suited and/or do you have other models in mind?

I run Armbian 20.02.1 stable on a zeropi which is used as a wireguard server and spotify direct client (USB to external DAC). Things run very well. Many thanks to everyone involved in keeping Armbian such a great distro! I noticed that when I turn on the ondemand governor the system becomes very unresponsive and music playback is stuttering. When I use the performance governor (even with min and max frequency both set to 480MHz) things run just fine. Most of the time 480MHz will be sufficient, but it would be nice to be able to take advantage of the ondemand governor. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hello, I have problem with "Orange Pi Zero Plus" and functionality of Relay module (electrical circuit= normally closed). Relay module is attached on pin/port number "0". When I set up pin number "0" from "OFF" to "OUT" state with command: gpio export 0 out state is changed from OFF to OUT and parameter in column "V" is "0". It should mean that relay stays turned of. +------+-----+----------+------+---+ | GPIO | wPi | Name | Mode | V | +------+-----+----------+------+---+ | 12 | 0 | SDA.0 | OUT | 0 | Problem is, that relay immediately after execution of mentioned command enables(turns on) output electrical circuit. Welcome to Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.4.20-sunxi This is the thing I have installed... I'm trying to use the serial ports out of the GPIO header, nominally pins 8 and 10 which depending on what you read maybe ttyS1 or ttyS3. Out of the box whatever they are they're not available. After much googling, I've seen stuff about FEX and DTS none of which mean much to me, I'm guessing Bionic doesn't use FEX as there's no sign of .FEX or .BIN files in the /boot directory. The default state seems to pump garbage out the tx line whatever its doing. Minicom promises to talk to any ttyS? I give it, but theres no answer on loopback, And that's all I have. …

it appears the pins on the esp8266 12e are also on the orange pi one. Can I connect the pins to an armbian orange pi one and then test the esp8266 12e? I want to test if wifi works. Is required software present in armbian? Or should I get an usb adapter https://ae01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1pm33XifrK1RjSspbq6A4pFXaf.jpg?width=1000&height=1000&hash=2000 and utilize a x86 gnulinux computer? It says the esp8266 12e supports i2c. Does the orange pi one have i2c pins, such that I can test the wifi of the esp8266 12e from an i2c connection on the armbian orange pi one? Is required software present in armbian? Thanks.

Hello, Wish a good health everyone nowadays! I'm using Orange Pi PC Plus with small aluminium heatsink running Armbian Buster (mainline kernel 5.4.y). SD Card is Samsung EVO Plus 32gb. The CPU governor was set to 480 to 1200, conservative. The system are fresh, just after install. After ~5 minutes of idle uptime temperature comes to 85 and up. Is that heatsink are not good enough? And the second issue I've faced - too quiet sound output from AV-out. The most quiet is Chromium, it is nasty quiet. Sound from local video files in mpv player are bit(2 times) louder both from mp4 and webm, also mp3. Have not tested HDMI(because my…

What's the rationale behind it?

Hi, We've built a network experimentation system using NanoPi R1 modules, but when load testing the system with iperf3, we are seeing the on-board RTL8152 interface enter a state where it does not seem to be responding until the board is power cycled. The system consists of 32 NanoPi modules connected in a torus, with the 1Gig interface connected to its neighbour's 100Mbit interface. An additional USB Ethernet dongle functions as a control interface. The modules are powered from a Ubiquiti PoE switch, using this type of isolated PoE splitter. Eyeballing the switch UI, power consumption per node seems to hover between 2.3W-3.5W, depending on load. W…

Hi team, I am trying to get a voltage drop (3.3V to about 0V) detected on a GPIO pin on my OrangePi Zero running Armbian buster 20.02.1 with Linux 5.4.31-sunxi. I have another OrangePi Zero on which I have already managed to install I2C OLED screen, and the i2cdetect was working, and so on... For this one, I got a problem with the gpio group not existing. As I tried to install OPi.GPIO, I got usermod: group 'gpio' does not exist It's an Armbian version that I downloaded yesterday, and upgraded today with armbian-config. So... What did I do the wrong way? Thanks.

Does anyone has a solution to preconfigure the WIFI of my Armbian from windows (or Linux if needed)? My second problem will be: I would like to install my system on the EMMC flash to not be dependent of the SD card. Can you confirm I would only need to run the command "nand-sata-install" when I will get…

I am trying to enable Winstar TFT display on Olimex Lime2 board under the kernel 5.4. Display spec is here: https://www.winstar.com.tw/products/tft-lcd/ips-tft/lvds-tft.html Up to the day we've been using the legacy kernel 3.4 and the display worked fine -- the u-boot was compiled with the settings (CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_MODE, CONFIG_VIDEO_LCD_POWER etc) suggested here: When I try to use the same settings in the mainline sources of armbian, the display does not work. Greetings, I'm not good with linux so excuse any stupidity i might say. I have been using Xenial for years now and just decided to update. In the past i was using the sunxi module to access gpio's For ex: echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio_sw/PA7/data Now in Bionic i just noticed gpio's are not accessed in the same way. According to this user, we can either use sysFS (which seems deprecated) or libgpiod. The problem is that i can't make it work. libgpiod: root@orangepi:~# gpioset gpiochip0 29=1 gpioset: error setting the GPIO line values: Unknown error 517 sysFS: root@orangepi:~# echo "29" >/sys/class/gpio/export -bash: echo…

I recently started playing around with OrangePi Zero with the Allwinner H2+ CPU.

Hello, I am working with a Nanopi Neo Air incorporating the System on Chip Allwinner H3. Can you help me to know the following information please: - What are the min and max SPI bus frequencies that I can use with the Nanopi Neo Air (Allwinner H3)? How can I calculate them? And are there specific frequency values to use (meaning the relationship is not linear, for example: 3.84MHz, 4.34MHz, etc)? - Can the Nanopi Neo Air be configured as an SPI bus master and as a slave (not at the same time) or o…

As we know, the PCIe on H6 is buggy, which doesn't offer linear address, and Linux cannot support such kind of configuration. However, the Cortex-A53 cores used by H6 supports virtualization, which can be used to change the order of the address space. Recently, I tried to make use of virtualization to provide linear mapping of PCIe, and I succeed in making an Intel 6205 wireless card working. The hypervisor code is at https://github.com/Icenowy/aw-el2-barebone . It's intended to start before U-Boot, and located at 0x40010000. A U-Boot fork that is patched to load the hypervisor is at https://github.com/Icenowy/u-boot/tree/h6…

My board works pretty well upto 1 000 00 Hz without fan and up to 1 200 000 Hz with (noctua) fan. However I am still using an usb wifi card, to be able to connect with ssh. Anyone having wifi with the built in wifi card work properly? Mine just shuts off. With an external wifi usb card, it works like a charm. Since my 3-d printers are in the living room I i have the orange pi:s in the living room. They are primary used for octoprint. I would like to have the built in wifi on orangepi prime to work.

Hi, I've recently got a ZeroPi from FriendlyElec and I immediately installed Armbian Buster, so far is working great except for a minor issue with the Gigabit ethernet. I'm planning to use it with Wireguard as server so I've made some performance checks first to test the actual network speed with iperf3. Hello. I have a small problem: I can't change the language on my OPi Zero. I have successfully done that with OPi Lite 2 and OPi 3, but for some reason on the Zero when I go to change it, the module fails to load and just quits back to the same "menu page". (essentially does nothing). The only thing I can think of, is that both of the other boards have 1Gb RAM and this only has 512Mb and thus it runs out of memory? That doesn't sound too plausible though - a list of keyboard languages shouldn't take tens or hundreds of megs of RAM. As far as I know, each board is running the same version of Armbian, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Orange Pi Zero Plus2 H5 I currently am booting from the onboard 8GB EMMC. I'm not sure what is going on here and I couldn't find someone who had this error on an Orange Pi 3 before. If anyone has some advice I'd love to hear it.

Hi folks, I'd like to build a simple rs485 interface onto an A20-OLinuxino-Micro board. Therefore I was looking into utilizing one of the UARTs (6 or 7) on EXT1 or EXT2, add an external driver chip to it and 'fork' the according kernel module to implement support for switching send/receive with the RTS line. While that seemed to be an easy approach, I already got stuck with the basics. :-( dmesg shows me [ 2.822776] printk: console [ttyS0] disabled [ 2.842962] 1c28000.serial: ttyS0 at MMIO 0x1c28000 (irq = 53, base_baud = 1500000) is a U6_16550A [ 2.843045] printk: console [ttyS0] enabled [ 2.866650] 1c29800.serial: t…

Hello Everyone, I have an Orange Pi 3 and I want to wipe the default OS and replace it with Armbian. It has some foreign default OS which appears to be Android based and without a word of English. The Armbian documentation wasn't much help because it didn't provide any instructions for this sort of hardware. If any of you could give me some pointers that would be very much appreciated.

Guys! I have two of the original Pine64+ boards from the kickstarter (with LCD) and tried to launch the latest armbian image on them. Both of them freezes in u-boot after it tries to evaluate USB connections... Rather strange, they work well with the ancient original images. ``` U-Boot SPL 2019.10-armbian (Feb 17 2020 - 09:25:19 +0100) DRAM: 2048 MiB Trying to boot from MMC1 NOTICE: BL31: v2.2(debug):9560593-dirty NOTICE: BL31: Built : 09:25:06, Feb 17 2020 NOTICE: BL31: Detected Allwinner A64/H64/R18 SoC (1689) NOTICE: BL31: Found U-Boot DTB at 0x4095dd0, model: Pine64+ INFO: ARM GICv2 driver initialized INFO: Configuring SPC Controlle…

After some hack, I use the SPI port on OPi One to connect with a MAX6675 board. The SPI port on One is SPI0, so armbianEnv.txt should include these: overlays=spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 param_spidev_spi_cs=0 the MAX6675 connects to OPi One as: MAX6675 One GPIO ------------------------------------------ VCC PIN17 GND PIN20 SCK PIN23 CS PIN24 SO PIN21 Then use the attachment program to read f…

Hi all. I have problem with SPI on my board . I find solution but I want to know why .. On first : Linux orangepizero 5.4.20-sunxi #20.02.1 SMP Mon Feb 17 02:09:41 CET 2020 armv7l armv7l armv7l GNU/Linux If go to armbian-config and enable SpiDev .. then reboot not find SPI device on my dev tree .. if look to armbianEnv.txt there is spi-spidev but on dev tree no SPI device .. My solution is this : on /boot/dtb/overlay is file sun8i-h3-spi-spidev.dtbo , decompile it and there is this text : /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun8i-h3"; fragment@0 { target-path = "/aliases"; __overlay__ { spi0 = "/soc/spi@01c6…

Hi, can anyone let me know if we can enable a UART port from a DTB file? Means like compile DTB to DTS, make changes and then again recompile it to a DTB like we do in the script.bin file of legacy kernel. Earlier I have used to mention "overlays=uart1 uart2" in the armbianEnv.txt file but, this didn't work for me .

Hi! I didn't find much info in the forum on how to correctly apply RT patch to the Armbian (Orange Pi Zero Plus H5 board). Here is how I did: Built Armbian as follows: 1) I downloaded patch-5.4.22-rt13.patch from https://mirrors.edge.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/rt/5.4/ and placed into ~/build/userpatches/kernel/sunxi-current ( I saw from the logs that this is the folder for the builder to search for user patches in my case) 2) Started ./compile.sh --> FULL OS image for flashing --> Show a kernel configuration menu before compilation --> orangepizeroplus (H5) as target board --> current (recommended , which is 5.4.23…

I've created an armbian minimal image for my pinebook with luks encryption. It works fine but I cannot see the password prompt on screen... the boot process is: * The armbian uboot is displayed * Then a black screen... After a few seconds I'm assuming it is time to put my luks password, so I do it * Then the screen starts to show the boot text Is this expected? Am I doing something wrong? I don't want to install plymouth, just the usual LUKS password prompt. Thanks!

Hi everyone, I have a problem when work on OPi zero wifi which is running Armbian linux sunxi 4.19.62. I used nmtui to configure wifi connection with static ip. It works fine even rebooting or re-powering up however I tried to power off the router and the result is it has never reconnected again. Next, I plugged in the ethernet cable into RJ45 port, the connection is established. I use sudo ifconfig to show the information, I saw that both the wifi (static) and ethernet are correctly then I can access via ssh or scanning the ip. One again, I continued plugging out the ethernet cable, all connections were disappeared even wifi and connection via ssh is failed. …
