  1. Creating a wireless access point through armbian-config fails in the new 22.02 release for the popular TP-Link TL-WN725N USB Wifi Dongle. I am raising it here because it worked previously on 21.08. I have tracked it down to be related to a driver change. Release version 22.02 uses the r8188eu and in fact this is one of the drivers the Hotspot configuration actually warns you about. Could this commit be related? In order to overcome this I have downloaded the official TP Link driver sources. but failed to compile them because headers are missing (even after using armbian-config to install headers). I have also followed the official documentation to learn about…

I have the impression that something is wrong with the driver installation. I used the file image "Armbian_community_24.11.0-trunk.130_Cubietruck_noble_current_6.6.44_xfce_desktop.img.xz" for installation. Any help would be appreciated. Best regards Albrecht

  8. Hi! Happy new year! Recently, I experienced a strange date problem on my Cubitruck. After a reboot or a powerdown/powerup the date is set to Jan, 1 1970 00:00:00 UTC (aka epoch). As far as I can see the RTC is working. ntpd is enabled on my Cubitruck. (Since it runs its own nameserver with DNSSEC, DNS resolving isn't working if the date is set to epoch. So ntpd can't reach any NTP server.) 11. Hi, So far was working with headless Armbian images. Now I need to attach an HDMI monitor to my OPi ONE. Generated a desktop Armbian 5.24 jessie kernel 3.4.113, attached the HDMI monitor and booted. I saw the inital seconds of U-Boot logging the discovery of the monitor and a few other things and then it went blank. I guess after some reading in the forum that there is no display manager included in the distro or is there some other problem? Is there some build option that we could include a manager (eg KDE/XFCE/etc) in the image generation proccess? Or if there is any guide that gives steps for adding a display manager in Armbian to a not-so-knowledgab…

But after some bad configurations (the system was still working..), I decided to re-install the whole system. The thing is that there are no more mainline builds for this board on the download page and 3.10 kernel is too old (I need at least 4.9)... 19. I have an Orange Pi PC Plus running the mainline Debian Stretch desktop version of Armbian, but lately I've been using it headless. When I'm logged in over ssh and shutdown it down using "sudo shutdown -h now", the ssh connection drops and the board's LED flashes then shuts off, giving every indication the board is off. However, power consumption doubles (increasing from ~1.2W to ~2.4 W)! The problem persists as long as the board is powered, so I presume the board is hung and never fully shutdown. Any thoughts as to what could be causing the board to hang when shutting down?

  28. Hello, I am very sorry that I have to leave the Armbian flock, but the Dietpi-Distro is so much better. It simply boots off the SD-Card on my NanoPi NeoCore and the darned Ethernet simply works; also the DTB overlay files work, so the additional I2C and UART hardware works in Dietpi. And the kernel is 6.x too ! However, the NanoPi Neocore is shipped with an outdated Armbian (using Kernel 4.x) on EMMC. What I now want is to replace the prepared EMMC Armbian distro with whatever is on my SD-Card, but this task is more difficult than I tought. 29. I built Armbian Edge from source (bookworm, server, no gui) and have no video via HDMI. Being a new build, networking is not set up and so I cannot SSH in to troubleshoot. I reverted to a stable Armbian build on another SD, upgraded that kernel to Edge, and lost video output. This one already has networking set up, I can SSH in, but I don't know what to look for in order to get my monitor working. Goal being, figure out what needs changed, and change it in the build process for a new image. I appreciate any pointers.

This is not solved the only tag I can add is solved. How do I change that I have an orange pi zero 3 and am trying to ssh into this board. Ive written all three minimal files to different 32gb sd cards. After I write the drive I add a blank ssh file and a wpa_supplicante.conf file with my wifi info on it. I install the os with balanaetecher or Rufus(I've tried so many things. I find my IP when I try to ssh doesn't work) but I can ping the zero. I've tried windows 8.1, and 11 plus Linux mint same thing. Could someone please help me? This probably should take 20 minutes but I've been at it for 2.5 days

Hello, I am using the Olimex OLinuxino and I find a constant noise at about 866.725MHz or thereabout in every board. While low, at -100dBm, when using it with IoT radios this is the band in India and it is quite a pain in applications requiring high sensitivity. This particular board had it pretty nasty at -86dB. I have tried with changing the DDR frequency as well as the CPU clock, however this nuisance refuses to go away. What can be done to get rid of this noise ? I have tried multiple boards -- Olinuxino (multiple), Marsboard, but each has some noise in exactly same band near 866MHz. Please advise.

During the last days the system crashed twice - by crashed I mean that no SSH or other connections was possible and I had to force-power off. I used it for months without crashes before so its probably related to a new SATA drive. I wanted to look at the syslog and I noticed that /var/log/syslog only shows entries starting from the current boot and the /var/log.hdd/syslog is empty. Do I understand correctly that armbian logs only to /var/log which is a ram drive so the logs (or at least the syslog) is never persisted? How can I find out whether the SATA drive is responsible and why? Maybe it has a too high power consumption under special circumstan…

As soon as I start pjsip for some reason I get a very high load average until the kernel detectets stalled CPUs and finally the entire device crashes. 52. Because I'm a glutton for punishment, I decided to test a bunch of PCDuino3 images. Hopefully this will be helpful for someone. Feel free to double-check my work. 3.X kernels work perfect. 4.11-4.14 no HDMI Audio 4.19-5.8 there's a bug where the console won't show up if you connect a high resolution screen. It complains about not enough memory reserved for the frame buffer. So if you have a blank screen, it's possibly working, but you just can't see anything. Also, still no HDMI audio even though it's built into the kernel. 5.9-current hangs at "Starting Kernel" showing in the serial port.

  54. I had to freeze my device on Kernel 6.1.92 & Bullseye to remain operational. Now trying to update/upgrade to Kernel 6.6.nn I run into following probs: 1) Using Armbian-config defreeze and subsequently switch to kernel 6.6.nn works OK 4me, but subsequent apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104. Armbian-config has changed significantly w/ No other Kernel available. 2) Using Armbian-config defreeze, only and going directly to apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104 as well and from Bullseye back to Buster! Is the SPL-Version the correct one or the one without? Do I have to write to something special like MBR? Where does the BROM search for the bootloader? Does it parse the partition-table? 90. I managed to start de A5E from nvme, but upgrading the packages fails. Installing armbian-firmware_26.8.0-trunk.125_all.deb failed With: data.tar lzma error.... Several months ago I got the same error but ignored it. Now everything is almost working, I tried to find out what went wrong. I can extract package with dpkg-deb -x on another system. MD5sum is the same on A5E and other system. This problem occurs on sdcard and nvme card. Btw: it is the 4G version of the A5E. Any idea how I can solve this?

  91. Hello, I want to set the boot argument 'threadirq' in the /boot/boot.cmd file for kernel 4.04. I added the option and created the boot.src file described in FAQ. When I boot the system I get kernel panic, because rootfs not found. If I revert the boot.src to default, it works fine. The file looks like this: setenv bootargs console=tty1 root=/dev/mmcblk0p1 rootwait threadirqs .... Is it possible to do it this way? Thanks, Timo

  93. Started by Nick,

I have an Orange Pi PC that I bought from eBay a while ago and it works absolutely fine, has done for a month or so now. I have just bought 5 more from Xunlong's Aliexpress store, they arrived very quickly, however they don't appear to boot... Power rails are fine, 24MHz clock is fine, reset line is fine, fel mode registers with my PC fine, however no UART output, no apparent attempt to boot from the SD card. If boot it with the SD card in, I get absolutely nothing, if I boot it without the SD card, it gets into FEL mode and I can talk to it with sunxi-fel nick@nick-desktop:~/sunxi-tools$ sudo ./sunxi-fel ver AWUSBFEX soc=00001680(H3) 00000001 ver=0001 44 0…

Kernel is Linux orangepipc 3.4.110-sun8i #18 SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 8 20:03:32 CET 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux I want to access a serial device connectet to the pins 8 and 10 on the GPIO connector, described at uart 3. /dev/ttyS0 is the 3 connector pin close to the power plug. there is no /dev/ttySn with n>0 and the /dev/ttyGSn are also not the ones to use. 100. I'm trying to use an OrangePi Zero as an Alexa device, using github.com/alexa-pi/AlexaPi. This is headless, but I need analogue out and in. Given that it's headless, I thought I'd use the mainline kernel instead of headless. Everything installs fine, but ALSA does not see anysound card hardware. aplay: device_list:268: no soundcards found... I can try legacy, but I'd prefer to use mainline if possible.
