Hello all, I am very excited to install armbian debian jessie on my cubietruck ! I managed to get the Armbian_5.31_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_next_4.11.5.img to an SD card, plugged it in, switched it on and everything went perfectly fine! Great! Now, I am trying to get this OS on the CT Nand. Sadly, the nand-sata-install doesn't work, returning the message : "There are no targets. Please check your drives". One very strange thing to me is the output of the /proc/partitions files that shows the following : major minor #blocks name 1 0 4096 ram0 1 1 4096 ram1 1 2 4096 ram2 …

Hi, I am trying to flash debian jessie 4.x to NAND( there is already wheezy there ), but it doesn't come up in the ./nand-sata-install device list. I would install wheezy, but the problem is that it is not working( not 3.x or 4.x ), I just get a black screen after Staring Kernel message and the green LED is flashing every few seconds. What should I try next? Thank you, Stefan

Hi Armbians I am running mulitiple TOR network relays on Cubietruck boards (Cubieboard 3) in different Datacenters with synchronous 100 MBit/s internet connection each board (by ethernet plug) for 1- 1,5 years now. At the beginning each board could handle 25 MBit/s incomming and outgoing traffic the same time easy and 24/7. The boards are running the latest Armbian build with kernel headers installed and full firmware package. But now, as you can see here, my Cubietrucks are getting slower after time, with the network traffic they can handle via eth0: https://metrics.torproject.org/rs.html#details/EC9C4CDB403204731122C9D3FA44DFAE6…

Hi, i try to install Mainline 4.9.7 Ubuntu Xenial on cubietruck. After first boot, it ends directly in prompt cubietruck login: First start takes about 40 seconds, no ssh keys, no reboot. I think something go wrong? I try this witch several SD Cards. All the same...

Hello, after the usual apt update/apt upgrade the OS requested a reboot. However it then fails to boot. Here's the output of the console: I guess the critical stuff is what I marked in bold? So what happened here and what to do to recover? Not keen to reinstall the whole OS... Edit: I pulled th SD-Card and read it from a Linux PC. When I take a look at /boot/boot.scr it is clearly corrupted! If I'm correct there's binary data inside, however in the hexdata I can see some segments with ASCII text fragments inside that releates to my private data (e.g. names of mp3 files!!) and that shoud definitely not be in boot.scr. So whatever…

Is anyone still working with cubietruck? I installed the latest mainline image over Christmas expecting it to have the cedrus driver but apparently it does not. I thought that everything except HDMI audio should be working in mainline now. So I installed the latest legacy image. It plays videos well but bluetooth doesnt work. I switched it on in armbian-config and 'rfkill list' shows it as not disabled but the bluetooth manager shows no adapter and search is grayed out. This is a regression as it used to work to some extent. Also, very importantly for me, neither image switch over to battery power when the AC goes out. This also used to work on leg…

Hello, in my installation all works fine and smooth. But after tryout of exagear (install and purge) my soundcard is not available any more (SPDIF). MPD/MPC is working well, but not sound out. apt shows a up-to-date system. aplay -L shows only pulseaudio server. lsmod : see my attached file lsmod.out. Any idea to bring sound back without any reinstallation? Thanks for for any idea to solve my problem Best regards, Martin

Hey there, after quite a while laying around in a box my Cubietruck finally came to life again. I downloaded the latest Xenial Vanilla Server from http://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/and set it all up. So far I'm quite happy having Wifi running. Though there are a few questions left. - I chose vanilla as i'm going to use the cubietruck headless and don't need video accel. It will be part of a 3d printer. Do I have any chance to get NAND support running? I guess not so I wonder if it's a good idea to keep running from a micro sd card or will I run into problems? I don't need really big I/O Action so performance wise I should be okay. - I see some brcmfmac error …

Dear all, My small server based on the Cubietruck board and Armbian OS (ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.18-sunxi) runs flawlessly since over 2.5 years now. And I am very happy with this setup. Lately, I installed a battery (5.3 Ah 3.7 V) in order to have the server a bit portable. The battery. driven system runs approx 9 - 10 h. Since I want to prevent that the battery drains out completely I configured the following cronjob: */15 * * * * /home/ncuser/nc_batt_cap_shutdown.sh > /dev/null 2>&1 The content of the script looks as follows: #!/bin/bash ### Script idea taken from: # http://www.schulz-alex.de…

Since updating to the (vanilla) 4.3.3 kernel, my Cubietruck has not read the real-time clock at boot time. This causes all log messages to show "Jan 1 01:00:10" until the NTP daemon kicks in. It also causes cron to remain confused about daylight savings until it is restarted. Looking at the release history at http://www.armbian.com/logbook/I see that v4.81 / 28.12.2015 includes a fix for a "Jessie RTC bug". Unfortunately it seems that this release has introduced an RTC bug! What was the fix, and is there an option I can use to reverse it? Before the update the boot messages looked like this: Jan 14 00:45:07 localhost kernel: [ 0.000000] Linux version…

Hi everybody, I am looking for some advice and help for troubleshooting. Here is the current situation regarding my cubietruck: I have installed Armbian Stretch (mainline kernel 4.14.y or 4.17.y) from here https://www.armbian.com/cubietruck/ on a SD-card using etcher on Ubuntu. If I power up the cubietruck 3 out of 5 times it won't boot. If it starts I can just fine ssh into the system and everything seems to be o.k. But after some time if I start to do something e.g. apt-get update / apt-get upgrade the system will freeze at some point. If i let the cubietruck on it's own it'll run for several hours without freezing. So the problem seems to be related eith…

Hi to all, sorry if it is already described anywhere. I found some similar issues but no solution, except ...has to be modified.. or anything similar. Two days ago I updated my Armbian Jessie server on may Cubietruck with apt-get update && apt-get upgrade After that my homeautomation didn't show the SoC temperature any more. first I looked for an error in the software, then after a lot of reboots I noticed the temperature also missing in the armbian startscreen. The command cat /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/thermal_zone0/temp was responsed by cat: /sys/devices/virtual/thermal/t…

Hi, I'm working with mpd on armbian 20.02.0 with i2s device and found some problem: periodically sound is interrupted. I enable verbose logging in mpd and I get message: May 20 04:36 : alsa_output: Underrun on ALSA device "hw:0,0" May 20 04:36 : alsa_output: Underrun on ALSA device "hw:0,0" May 20 04:37 : alsa_output: Underrun on ALSA device "hw:0,0" This is not permanent and some time maybe work fine, but if it starts, messages go with an interval of 10-11 seconds until I restart mpd. Hi, I used Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_trusty_4.2.3 as sd card image. Later I moved it to a sata connected ssd and upgraded to 4.2.6 kernel. Hi all, thank you for creating and maintaining Armbian. Makes live much more easier. I installed Armbian 4.5 (Cubietruck Jessie 4.2.3) via UART0. I'm now trying to access at least two further UART Devices (I need serial to an Arduino and to a GPS shield). I understood as Armbian uses the mainline Kernel script.bin is now obsolete and no longer used. Thus I don't know the pinouts for the other UARTs. Is there any documentation? Furthermore I'm not sure if the other UARTs are properly enabled in the Kernel configuration. Linux serial console seem to be on ttyS0 which is working fine: [ 0.000893] console [tty1] enabled Furthermore dmesg shows ttyS0: [ …

Hi. Can anybody give me any idea on how to find out why it is crashing? I recently moved to this distro, and it is now crashing after 1 to 4 days of continuous usage. The thing is, I have no idea how to find out why it is happening, and how to fix it. Which log should I go for? I was running this Aruntu before, and never had this issue, which seems to show that this is not an hardware issue. Best, João

For the second time within about 4 weeks my cubietruck is not coming up anymore after a sudo apt upgrade and reboot. Is there something systematically breaking? I think it is the initramfstools that is breaking it? Now, I have no radio, alarm-clock and I cannot turn on my coffee-maker over the internet and I will probably have to spend a day etching a new SD card etc. I bought a new SD card last time this happened since I figured ist would be related to that, now I think it is a software thing. I use the cubietruck headless over ssh and have no real video output, just audio. I also need to do some cumbersome operations t…

Hi, couple of month ago I installed Armbian on my Cubietruck. I didn't really use it much, but today I decided to start using it, and obviously the right way to do so is to update to the latest version. So when I started, I had this version on my Cubietruck: ARMBIAN Ubuntu 14.04.4 LTS 3.4.112-sun7i I followed Igor's instructions at http://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started/#how-to-update : apt-get update apt-get upgrade apt-get install -f apt-get upgrade apt-get autoremove -y However, I received the following error message after the first instance of "upgrade": ... Hi everyone, I installed the latest version of armbian available today for cubietruck. The volume coming out of the 3.5mm jack is really low. I checked on pulseaudio and the volume is set to maximum. Hello Igor, first of all thank you very much for your efforts. I used Armbian in the past and wanted install some up-to-date version. However this fails/hangs independent of selected OS either at 'armbian-resize-filesystem' or 'Flush Journal to persistent storage'. The first boot may take some >15min if succeeds. However i can't login after as it accepts no keyboard input. I started testing upwards from very old version (sorry, i downloaded many and only few by Torrent, but i did send you some donation to cover this). Up to Armbian_20.08.2_xxx_5.8.6 it works well, irrespective of debian/ubuntu flavor. So, the bug came with Armbian_20.11…

I've updated all Armbian packages on my Ubuntu 24.04 system running on the Cubietruck a few days ago, updating the release to Armbian 25.2.3 with kernel linux-image-current-sunxi (i.e. I'm using the current flavor of the system). Hi (and happy new year everyone!), I recently put a SSD in my Cubietruck and installed the Cubietruck Vanilla Image (with Kernel 4.x) on it. This is working fine, but what bugs me is the fact that I still need to have a microSD-card installed. As far as I understood, the bootloader cannot directly boot to SATA (missing drivers). How does the bare Image on the microSD-card achieve this? And even more important: How can I move the 'important' part (which does the bootloading and SATA drivers) to NAND so I can boot without a microSD-card installed? Thanks in advance!

Hi there, Armbian with 3.4.x Kernel has been running fine on my CubieTruck until upgrading to 5.25. Armbian is installed on NAND (using nand-sata-install), and there is also a SDcard and a harddrive connected for data storage. Some days ago the upgrade to Armbian 5.25 appeared and I did a sudo apt-get dist-upgrade. It took a long time and threw some warnings and errors - which I probably should have captured. I recall something regarding "cannot link image" or so... The whole upgrade finished completely at the end. Then the reboot... Now the the CubieTruck is not booting anymore. The error message is: U-Boot 2017.1-armbian ... ... Error: no valid bm…

Hi all. Strange thing happens. I've tried to run a fresh installation of the 4.4.3 kernel version of armbian 5.04. The first boot takes forever (I gave up after 2 hours; a few times). It started and hung up at updating packages. Every try; tried about 10 times. If I switched to 5.04 with kernel 3.4.110 - the first boot takes about 1minute and cubietruck rebooted once, so everything worked perfectly. Any idea what could happened? Some extra info: If I logged in during this "updating packages" period, the normal process of creating a new user worked as normal. After that I could restart the cubietruck normally. So my question: Do I get some problems if I …

I just reinstalled my Cubietruck with the Debian jessie, image from http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Cubietruck_Debian_4.1_jessie_3.4.108.zip. Only one core is available. What could I do so that the two cores are detected? For what it's worth, the bootloader briefly displays a "checksum error" message. Could it be that I'm still using the old bootloader from the previous installation? (It was Debian wheezy in summer 2014.) Thanks in advance for advice.

Hello, I have't used my old Cubietruck for years but would like to use it again in a project. I downloaded the new Armbian version: Armbian_community_25.2.0-trunk.124_Cubietruck_noble_current_6.6.62_xfce_desktop.img and installed it. There is console display just fine through HDMI, but not graphical display. There seems to be some trouble before as in this discussion: I downloaded this image: https://github.com/IGNNE/cubietruck-armbian-unofficial/releases/ and it seems to work. But when it updates itself, the graphics is gone again. So - is there some old dr…

I am considering the purchase of an Orange Pi 3 and I was wondering how well it is supported by the current Armbian image. According to https://linux-sunxi.org/Linux_mainlining_effort it should work mostly fine. How well does Panfrost run on the board? Are there any gotchas that I should be aware of? Thanks.

Hi there! I've just compiled from armbian buil tools a new image for Orange Pi 3 LTS. Then flash it on sdcard, anything was well, but armbian doesn't start at all. Nothing on the HDMI, nothing on the debug serial. Also LED doesn't light. I've tried two images: ubuntu jammy with GNOME and next case XFCE. Both cases didn't work. I've downloaded prebuilt image from armbian.org and it starts well. In my opinion, some problem with custom images in u-boot. but I don't know how to give a diagnosis.

Armbianmonitor: http://ix.io/4cYv Hi I'm trying (and failing miserably) to achieve a simple goal with my Orange Pi 3 LTS: to have pin PD15 set as 'output-high' on startup. From reading the documentation, it seems the logical way to go about this task is to create a custom DT Overlay so that's what I set out to do. Based on the Armbian documentation and various examples I found online, I created the following sun50i-h6-gpio-pwr-status.dts file under /boot/overlay-user : /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun50i-h6"; fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __overlay__ { gpio_pwr_pin:…

I need to use non-standard baud rate (125000) on the serial port. Communication works very reliably, but dmesg says: "Python sets custom speed on ttyS1. This is deprecated." What should my attitude towards it? Can I ignore it? I read, that it is necessary to make some changes in the "asm/termios.h". It is necessary ? Could it be a normal part of the kernel? Moreover - I do not know how to do it. Thanks.

Hi, I receive 16 bytes every 0.5 seconds. This should be saved as text or as MySQL table data. Need to compare with all existing records , process and display it on 3.5 inch TFT LCD on SPI ( Notro fbtft ) and also save to SD Card . It should be broadcasted to a fixed Ip using TCPIP. Can I use Orange Pi Zero with 512MB Ram ? Can I partition Ram as RAMFS OR TMPFS to do all read only tasks thus save time for slow SD CARD writes ? Can I first copy boot files and my app, tables to Ram and start from Ram ? Any suggestions ? Thanks

Hi! Happy new year! Recently, I experienced a strange date problem on my Cubitruck. After a reboot or a powerdown/powerup the date is set to Jan, 1 1970 00:00:00 UTC (aka epoch). As far as I can see the RTC is working. ntpd is enabled on my Cubitruck. (Since it runs its own nameserver with DNSSEC, DNS resolving isn't working if the date is set to epoch. So ntpd can't reach any NTP server.) I'm running a vanila kernel with Debian Jessy (8.2): Linux vaili 4.3.3-sunxi #3 SMP Mon Dec 28 11:27:16 CET 2015 armv7l GNU/Linux Setting the date after a reboot and powerdown/powerup was working some time ago. Hi! I have ARMBIAN 5.31 on my Banana Pi m1 and need some help. Early I used wheezy and mount webdav disk with davfs2 in fstab, but after I installed jessie fstab dont mount any davfs2 disk. Besides I have another problem: I use davfs2 to backup some video and photos to cloud storage throw webdav, and I have mistakes on large files (files much bigger then free space in /var/cache). Davfs2 send files in cache folder first (/var/cache/davfs2 by default) and then to webdav disk, so I have to use another disk with enough free space (sda1 in my case). When I was on wheezy I just point cache dir to sda in dafs2.config (cache_dir option) and all be OK, but i…

I'm currently playing with a Banana Pi M1 + and don't seem to be able to get the GPIO to work. I *think* that I have correctly mapped the IO pins that I am using through the schematic and fex file to find the corrisponding GPIO number for debian. When playing around in /sys/class/gpio I am able to export the GPIO pin that I'm looking for and change it's properties, direction, value etc. However these changes don't seem to appear on the physical IO pins. I noticed that some of the pins that I'm using are shared by UART 2, so I have disabled that in the FEX file but still no luck. I have a feeling that this is probably going to be DTB related, however I'm a …

Hi there, I noticed there are up to date builds for Pine64 for Debian and also up to date ones for Ubuntu for the Orange Pi Win. But none for Debian and Orange Pi Win, newest ones are from November probably with legacy kernel? Is this just some kind of build script hiccup? If not, do you have an idea about a timeframe for new Debian builds? (I'd rather not use Ubuntu if it's just a few days/weeks I'd have to wait for Debian.)

Dear Armbian community, not sure if this the right place for this thread, please feel free to move it. I'm testing the Debian Installer Buster (alpha release) after seeing that there is (partial) support for the 5 there is (partial) support for the•Orange PI zero (H2+) and other boards. It seems that the u-boot packages in Debian miss the u-boot build for the Orange Pi zero and support for the Ethernet controller as it seems it is not the mainline kernel yet and seems to be needing some work in order to be available in kernel 4.15. Armbian already includes the u-boot build and has support for the Ethernet controller of the Orange…

Hi. For some days I was working to compile a customized live distro based on Armbian and live-boot for my BananaPi M2+ board. Finally, it is ready to use. It boots from the builtin emmc flash and is completely readonly. It uses overlayfs together with squashfs. It also uses zram as swap to enhance memory capacity. A nice effect is that the sd/flash image becomes only 400mb, since it is squashed.. I would share the image and the details of making it, if somebody is interested, send me a message...

BACKGROUND: Back on June 27th, I posted my questions regarding my wish to have certain kernel features activated (or not) by default in the Armbian/Debian kernels of the time -- specifically since I wanted to activate 'PPS' features in order to build a Stratum 1 GPS/PPS timeserver: Kernel Option Requests? Here are the 'old' instructions that I used back in June: ORANGE PI PLUS H3 with GPS/PPS I ended up needing to install VirtualBox with an Ubuntu 16.04 environment, and successfully created what I needed (i.e. 3.4.113-PPS-sun8i). I was also eager to create a much newer kernel, but that failed (i.e. 4.11.5). My Orange Pi PC…

During the last days the system crashed twice - by crashed I mean that no SSH or other connections was possible and I had to force-power off. I used it for months without crashes before so its probably related to a new SATA drive. I wanted to look at the syslog and I noticed that /var/log/syslog only shows entries starting from the current boot and the /var/log.hdd/syslog is empty. Do I understand correctly that armbian logs only to /var/log which is a ram drive so the logs (or at least the syslog) is never persisted? How can I find out whether the SATA drive is responsible and why? Maybe it has a too high power consumption under special circumstan…

For some reason still unknow to me, my OrangePi Lite Wifi became unreachable twice. I should have checked whether it was something more. Anyhow, temperature is an issue that everyone says about, but I do not believe it is. To determine when Orange Pi Lite Wifi becomes unreachable I wrote a Python script (nothing special, similar to many on the Internet) that posts the ARM7 temperature of Orange Pi Lite to ThingSpeak platform (owned by Matlab). If, and when my Orange Pi Lite Wifi, becomes unreachable I will know as it will stop sending posts to ThingSpeak. Besides the main interest, I do something useful as I monitor the temperature of ARM7. (the image though it shows…

Hi all I have a project where I'll be deploying the same configuration (including IP addresses) to a multiple Orange Pi Zeros. There will be some slight differences (hostname, information in one script) but largely identical. I was thinking about using a Linux VM to run a script that changes a base image (from a pre-set up machine) makes the changes and burns an image onto microsd. Is this a viable approach? Will I need to change anything else (MAC address related stuff?) Cheers!

Hi! I love this Linux distribution, I have tried some months ago and had worked very well. Now, I want install armbian in a pdduino3b, I go to "downloads" select pcduino3, and I have two options: Xenial_server_vanilla and Xenial_server_legacy. I want hardware acceleration and most options of drivers and compatibility possible, so, I go for legacy option. But I realize that the two images have not a desktop environment, this is true? If yes, where can I download the full newer armbian version with legacy kernel and desktop ready? I try install xcfe over legacy image, but I have found for errors like "screen not found" and others... Regards.
