Hello, I have got my Orange Pi PC+ reading a DS18B20, but it only gives 0.5 degree increments so I believe the resolution is set to 9 bit. This is nowhere near good enough for the application I plan to use it for. When I cat w1_slave I get: 90 01 80 01 1f ff 02 04 5c : crc=5c YES 90 01 80 01 1f ff 02 04 5c t=25000 I have attempted to use this: https://github.com/danjperron/BitBangingDS18B20 but it appears to be specifically for RaspPi. Does anyone know how I can change the resolution to 11 or 12 bit? Many thanks

I have OrangePi Zero and want to use it the following way: 1. OrangePi Zero is connected to internet via Wi-fi 2. on OrangePi's eth0 port is running DHCP server 3. I connect a computer to eth0 port on OrangePi, get IP address via DHCP and access to the internet So internet is provided to eth0 via wlan0. Now, I managed to install dnsmasq, and it is working. Basically my config (/etc/dnsmasq.conf) is: interface=eth0 listen-address=172.16.0.1 bind-interfaces addn-hosts=/etc/dnsmasq/hosts.conf dhcp-range=172.16.0.50,172.16.0.150,12h dhcp-leasefile=/var/lib/misc/dnsmasq.leases IP of eth0 on OrangePi Zero is: ifconfig eth0 …

I installed the SoftetherVPN using the script provided in Armbian distribution, than I configured it from my windows machine, using the VPN Server manager application downloaded from softether website. When I try to connect from my iPhone I get an error "The L2TP-VPN server did not respond. Try reconnecting. If the problem persists ..." What I didn't do , is opening ports in my router, do I need to forward 443, 992, 1194, 5555 to my BananaPi IP in my router ? Some more details I posted on the softether forum, but it seems there is noone around to answer, and alot of spam is posted daily Thank you. VPN Tools>check Check command …

Hello, I've been trying to use DNSCrypt on ARMBian Debian on OrangePi Zero. I'm following this guide (exact revision link for future reference), and it was working great on Raspbian in Raspberry Pi, When I try the same guide, it compiles, installs successfully, runs the daemon, however it doesn't actually work, saying "connection timed out; no servers could be reached". When I'm not using daemon, and run manually, this time it says "Unable to bind (TCP)". But when I compile and use in Ubuntu, it works nicely. This is my GitHub issue on DNSCrypt repository, including all my tests and inputs: https://github.com/jedisct1/dnscrypt-proxy/issues/561 …

For a lark I wanted to see if a BPi would do as a softsynth. I started with the very nice 2.9 Jessie image* and 4.x kernel, but noticed only then that there's no sound, so I installed the 3.4 packages. After booting, ALSA seems to be working fine wrt line sound output and mixer. I could also play MIDI files with fluidsynth fine and hear clear audio on headphones. Connecting a USB MIDI keyboard also gets detected and its ports show up. Now, fluidsynth as a server won't start and neither does jackd. Both seem to complain about missing /dev/snd/seq. So I'm wondering if there's a kernel module or option missing or if it's an artifact of there being no actual MIDI synt…

I am successfully using Armbian Current on my Banana Pi. I have a 120GB usb SSD drive. I'd like to boot from it - my other Banana Pi with the same system boots from SATA connected HDD no problem. When I boot the device, I can see the drive using sudo fdisk -l as /dev/sda1 I can also get the UUID and everything. I've modified the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file and changed the UUID, but I can't get the machine to boot. I tried also to change the UUID to /dev/sda1. Didn't help either. When I boot with HDMI connected, I can see the kernel iterating through USB bus and the result is "no USB storage device found" and that's it. …

Hi, I have serious problems with the 5.25 images of armbian on a cubietruck. After a fresh install and apt-get update apt-get upgrade I get errors with : dpkg: error processing archive /var/cache/apt/archives/linux-libc-dev_4.4.0-78.99_armhf.deb (--unpack) This is for the Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.9.7 image, with other images this concerns a different package. Only Armbian_5.25_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113 works. After this error, the filesystem seems to be defect and is remounted ro. On another try, I removed the rmount ro on error option from the fstab and the /var/lib/dpkg directory was corrupted. …

I'm running a web cam on a OrangePiOne. For the last four days its been performing adequately, at least as well as the RaspiPiZero. At the moment though its suddenly decided to become a snail... slower than paint drying or melting blanc mange. So here I am looking for pointers. I don't have a lot of detail, but what I have follows. I'm using mjpg-streamer to handle the webcam. In the past this has been rock solid without issue, at this point I assume its not the problem in itself. But when I tied to check sound from the headphone interface on the expansion board I have a problem: user@orangepizero2w:~$ aplay -l aplay: device_list:274: no soundcards found... There is no chance to turn it on even through DTB overlay in armbian-config because there is no sound card in there. How to make sound work in this board with Armbian?

Greetings, after a long time I am playing with my old Banana Pi Pro again. This time with the intention to probably use it on IoT purposes. That implies I only need WIFI and the GPIO pins. Which gives some opportunity to save power by powering down every thing else which is not needed. My first approach here is to strip down everything from the device tree I don´t need. That means everything related to: framebuffer hdmi lcd sata display engine ethernet video codec usb ir gpu/mali That resulted in a drop in power consumption in idle from: ~0.990 - ~1.330W to: ~0.700 - ~1.000W …

Good evening. I've just installed Armbian in a OPI +2, in a 32 Gb card. The OPI is connected by LAN to my router, in the same way the PC I am using to write this message is. But "Wicd Entwork Manager" says : - "not connected" after "Obtaining IP address" if using wire-default profile. - "done connecting" after "setting IP address " id using a fix IP address setting profile, but in fact, there is no connection. Has anybody faced something like this ? Any idea ? Best regards. maesstrissimo

Hi, I have probably trivial question related to GPIO on Orange Pi Zero. So - I have a switch there connected ot 3.3V and then to GPIO (pin 12 on Zero). What I want to do is just to read GPIO state. When button pressed it goes to high state - normally. On RaspberryPi and Odroid C1 that works fine just using basic code with wiringpi2 or eventually wiringpi. So I tried the same on Zero compiling wiring for H3/H2. My code is basic in Python: import time import wiringpi import pyA20 as GPIO cykl = 1 wiringpi.wiringPiSetupGpio #or wiringPiSetup() wiringpi.pinMode(1,0) while cykl == 1 : do_call = wiringpi.digitalRead(1) if do_call: print 'pressed' time.s…

I'm sorry if I come across as incompetent but I have limited skills in linux and I really dont know where else to turn to. Dear all, i just installed a fresh Armbian 4.5 Jessie with Vanilla kernel 4.2.3 on an SD card and booted it on a cubietruck. I did not receive any HDMI output. This did not change after a kernel update to 4.2.5 via apt-get update and apt-get upgrade and a reboot. However, the same cubietruck works flawlessly with Debian Wheezy (2.6 updated to 4.5) and kernel 3.4.110. I checked the boot.cmd script and looked into cubietruck.bin - the standard settings would appear to identify the correct (HD) display resolution and to enable HDMI by default. Do you have any recommendations ? Is there anyone experiencing the same problem ? With kind regards, Lupus …

I am trying to connect a SNBC receipt printer to my Banana Pi - model number: BTP-r580(II) However, dmesg shows that whilst it is identified as a USB device, it is not identified as a printer (probably not helped by the fact that all of their receipt printers appear to have idVendor = 0x154f and idProduct = 0x154f Whilst their website (http://www.newbeiyang.com) has downloads for linux drivers, once connected there is no /dev/usb nor a dev/ttyUSB0 directory (in case it is recognised as a serial device). The linux drivers appear to be used for CUPs which is not installed, so I have not downloaded them. Someone else has the same problem on the Raspberry Pi wi…

Hello, I'm running a freshly installed armbian with mainline kernel 4.9.5 on my cubietruck. Between u-boot messages and login prompt I don't get any output while booting. I've tried several values for the "console" parameter in the armbianEnv.txt and recompiled the /boot/boot.scr file without success. I've tested both VGA and HDMI (with an HDMI to VGA adapter) outputs without success too. What should I do to get things to work please ? Thanks for your time and your great work on armbian.

Good morning all I have an OPi Zero H2 with the official expansion card. My goal is to make an Airport module to connect a speaker to it. The installation of Shairport in APT all is ok I can see the sharing on my iPhone. But the problem is that I have no sound when I plug a speaker into the 3.5mm jack port on the expansion card. I have correctly installed the "analog-codecs" and made a reboot. In Alsamixer I put "Line-Out" and "DAC" to the maximum (red). But still no sound ... When in doubt, I did all these operations on Armbian Focal / Buster / Bionic but it didn't change anything. Can you help me please? believe me I have tried everything for 4 da…

I'm trying to configure the RTL8189FTV module on an Orange Pi+ 2E in SoftAP + STA mode so I can use it as wifi hotspot. According to this old document from Realtek (http://www.ofeixin.com/downloadRepository/8da8dda7-6721-4ac8-a7db-47cc4d9b218c.pdf), it's possible to do so using an RTL8189ETV, so I'm assuming it's possible on the RTL8189FTV, too. The default driver doesn't allow concurrent connections like this, tho, so it must be recompiled. I downloaded the source recommended on the sunxi wiki (http://linux-sunxi.org/Wifi#RTL8189FTV): git clone https://github.com/jwrdegoede/rtl8189ES_linux.git cd rtl8189ES_linux git checkout -B rtl8189fs origin/rtl8189f…

Hi, I've got a quick question regarding the kernel upgrade instructions on a Cubietruck that runs on Igor's Debian image. Let me mention first that the system boots from my Cubietruck's NAND. However, the root partition and the /home partition are both installed on some SSD. I've followed the instructions about the kernel upgrade (3.4.106-cubieboard to 3.19.6-cubietruck) in order to be able to use the proper shutdown feature - as detailed on http://www.igorpecovnik.com/2013/12/24/cubietruck-debian-wheezy-sd-card-image/. I.e. I installed the various *.deb packages which were contained in the *.tar archive via `dpkg -i`. Then I ran the steps as desc…

Hi! I love this Linux distribution, I have tried some months ago and had worked very well. Now, I want install armbian in a pdduino3b, I go to "downloads" select pcduino3, and I have two options: Xenial_server_vanilla and Xenial_server_legacy. I want hardware acceleration and most options of drivers and compatibility possible, so, I go for legacy option. But I realize that the two images have not a desktop environment, this is true? If yes, where can I download the full newer armbian version with legacy kernel and desktop ready? I try install xcfe over legacy image, but I have found for errors like "screen not found" and others... Regards.

I'm getting an error and I'd like some feedback if it is a missing package (apt-get) or a bug in OctoPrint or something wrong in Python. It looks like something is blowing up with Python trying to install a package called scandir 1.3, but I'm not getting anything when I google it with the error. Thoughts? Welcome to Armbian Bionic with Linux 5.4.20-sunxi This is the thing I have installed... I'm trying to use the serial ports out of the GPIO header, nominally pins 8 and 10 which depending on what you read maybe ttyS1 or ttyS3. Out of the box whatever they are they're not available. After much googling, I've seen stuff about FEX and DTS none of which mean much to me, I'm guessing Bionic doesn't use FEX as there's no sign of .FEX or .BIN files in the /boot directory. The default state seems to pump garbage out the tx line whatever its doing. Minicom promises to talk to any ttyS? I give it, but theres no answer on loopback, And that's all I have. …

Hello, I don't know if this is board related or probably armbian related... anyway. In my old banana pi (4.19.13-sunxi) htop (version 2.1.1) is like this: While on every other linux PC, server or whatever I have it looks like: The small and stupid difference is in those blue "tree view" lines (under the Command column), which I don't really like nor understand. Is there a way to set those lines as they normally should be? (and why was it set???) Thanks

Hi all I need a bit of assistance in installing OpenMediaVault on the Cubietruck. I'll admit I tried this a while back, so I'm coming back to this to try and use my Cubietruck as a mini NAS. Tried to install using the instructions over at the debian site, but after the install, the web interface showed lots of errors and it wouldn't work. Done lots of googling to try and find further information but I'll admit I'm a bit vexed. Does anyone have some idiot-proof instructions or a prebuilt image they could provide to a bit of a linux newby? thanks in advance -matt

Hi! So the problem is when I configure wifi hotspot using hostapd, isc-dhcp-server, and ifupdown, I'm able to start the AP, connect to it, and ping. However, the moment any device connects to the AP the serial console gets spammed with this message around once a second: protocol 0000 is buggy, dev wlan0 This happens on the unofficial Armbian build (from the Armbian OrangePi Zero3 page), DietPi, and the official OrangePi Debian build. The wireless band doesn't matter. Kernel version: 6.1.31-sun50iw9. I tried to set up the AP with NetworkManager, but couldn't manage to connect to it. Probably DHCP issues that I couldn't resolve. I haven't …

I'm having trouble porting some WiringPi programs to my NanoPi Neo. I have an original neo v1.0 running the latest armbian stretch (as of Oct 04 2018). Have tried several, including mstroh76/WiringNP, and can compile, but programs hang when executed. I'm okay if this is the deep-end of the pool but I wanted to verify that I an indeed in deep waters or if I'm doing something dumb and really in the shallow waters and all I have to do is stand up to get my head out of the water. Which WiringPi library should I be using for C language programs on a NanoPi NEO v1.0 running a recent Armbina Stretch release?

Hi, I successfully installed owncloud on the Cubietruck. Because of owncloud, I decided to give jessie a try, since there are more packages I need already included. Got all that working. Now, I wanted to make the Cubietruck into a wireless AP following the instructions in the FAQ on Igor's blog. However, i am getting nowhere. After boot, hostapd seems to be running: ps -elf | grep hostapd 1 S root 677 1 0 80 0 - 1040 poll_s 18:25 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/hostapd -B -P /run/hostapd.pid /etc/hostapd.conf However, the SSID is not picked up by any client, so it seems as if it is not braodcast. However, it is not hidden either, since I cannot …

Hello I have an issue with my HDMI display. Some of the desktop is out of screen. This is about 3% or 15px all around the screen. Changing resolution from 1080p down to 720p and down to 800x600 doesn't fix the borders. Armbian-config allows me to edit the booting environment. Atleast these lines won't work: disable_overscan=0 .... this can also be 1 with no effect overscan_x=-30 overscan_y=-30 .... these can also be positive with no effect also overscan_top, overscan_bottom, overscan_left and overscan_right don't work Only line that changes something is the one with resolution: disp_mode=800x600p60 I don't have zoom on this display or I have l…

Dears, We have 4 boards Nanopi Neo2, but when we connect to energy, they don't boot, leds of net port (green and yellow ones) and internal led (red) are on all time. We tried to access via serial port (using an usb-serial adapter), but they not show any boot process. We tried some different boot images on sd card. Nothing works. All four devices are in this situation (and they are new!). There is any thing we can do?

Hi, has anyone been able to use the BPi 7 inch LCD (S070WV20-CT16) with Banana Pi M1+? I took the FEX file from this how-to: https://sinovoip.blogspot.hu/2015/08/how-to-banana-pi-bpi-m1-7-inch-touch.html and put it the "bin" subdir of the Armbian image (Armbian_5.20_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.7z), then symlinked from the script.bin in the root dir to it (I did not change anything else in the image) and rebooted. At boot when it comes to starting the kernel, it always resets (starts the boot process again and again). When I use (symlink to) the "built-in" bananapim1pluslcd7.bin in the image, the same result: starts the boot process again a…

Two days ago I upgraded the kernel to 25.5.1 (6.12.30-current-sunxi) from 25.2.3 (6.12.20-current-sunxi). Since then I have no longer been able to play a certain title (FLAC file) in mocp. In case it's relevant, the title is: "Malukah - Awake (The Dragonborn Comes)". Symptoms: dmesg starts showing kernel trace output at 1:43 of the song mocp finally stalls at 1:52 and it's impossible to interact with it from that point on Is there anyone here who would be able to provide pointers on how to debug this? I am a developer and I have done some work with Yocto/OE before and wouldn't be afraid to get at this with a debugger. Since it's nice…

Hi, I'm trying to install Armbian 5.20 vanilla kernel to eMMC on my Opi PC+. After nand-sata-install finishes I shutdown the Opi PC+ and power it back on. At least, I enable the power, I don't see anything happening in minicom on my pc. Only when powering it with a microsd in the slot (with armbian) will the uboot show in minicom on my pc. Doing a nand-sata-install with 5.14 legacy worked. What am I doing wrong (especially seeing nothing after a reboot with my ttl-to-usb connected is a bit strange for this noob)?

Good evening, In your opinion, what is the best alternative to the NanoPi NEO2? I don't need wifi or sata. I'm looking for a stable and qualitative armbian with a gigabit and usb port. Is there a better performing armbian that the NEO2 has for less than 40$? Thanks

I have an issue with armbian installed oPI PC+. I have it in a case with a cooling fan installed and connected to 2 GPIO pins. Any suggestions, I haven't tried starting without the cooling fan yet.

Hi guys, I tried to disable console output on uart0 using this guide https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Fine-Tuning/#how-to-toggle-boot-output But I still get boot output on uart0. Problem is, that I'm using uart0 for a java application. Java application crashes a few seconds after starting. I got the hint, that I should disable console output on this port, to make it working. See here: http://pi4j.com/example/serial.html I think that's the problem, because if I unplug my serial device from uart0, java app doesn't crash. I'm using Banana Pi. Kernel is Verison 4.8.12. Armbian is Jessie 5.24 with desktop. How can I disable the output? Yours, Martin

Hello, I have problems with the armbian distributions on my orange pi zero 3 because I can't even use chatgpt to activate the sound card on the expansion board that comes as an accessory for the orange pi zero 3. I'm referring to the board that has two USB outputs and an audio jack port that I think is also a video port, but I can't get sound out of that port, only sound comes out of the HDMI port. It's a real mystery since there's no problem with the other distributions, but with armbian I can't get that audio output port to work. If you can help me please, I've tried a number of things and I can't get it to work.

Hello, I am new to armbian and am quite impressed of the ease of installation and use. I copied the vanilla headless Debian jessy to a spare SD and the board booted right away. So first of all, many thanks to the developers! I rely on GPIO for my application of the board, so I first tested the export of a GPIO. Normally, the kernel from Olimex gives me something like "gpio64_pg0", which is not very compatible to the programs out in the internet (e.g. OpenHAB.org which I use), so – with this kernel – I was happy to get a standard "gpio1" when echoing "1" to "export". But as soon as I tried to change the direction echo out > gpio1/direction the whole board…

Hi friends! Here is the situation. Trying the armbian jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3. When installing a new soft it takes to much time. For example, when running apt-get upgrade after fresh image install, it takes about 17 minutes. Of course it contain the core update. But that upgrade part on jessie takes about 7min, on wheezy about 3min. The same thing when just install some software, like apache2 or mc. It takes to much time (for mc it takes about 1 min on jessie, about 30sec on wheezy). The same with reloading. It takes about 1min. Situation is the same on both jessie 3.4.109 and 4.2.3 Tried the same with Banana PI. The same thing. I use the fastest SD card. …

Dear mainline developers, I'm writing a (mainline) SPI driver for de ads131 from TI which I would like to make use of DMA, on the orangePIzero H2, zero+ H3/H5 and nanopi NEO2+. On the 4.13.3-sunxi kernel (armbian 5.33), this works fine, the driver is automatically loaded when the associated devicetree overlay is loaded, and the DMA can be allocated. However, when I compile the same driver for newer kernels (4.14.17-sunxi, 4.14.39-sunxi, 4.14.67-sunxi armbian 5.59), the dma allocation no longer appears to work, while the SPI part of the devicetree is identical except for the phandle (checked with dtc -I fs /sys/firmware/devicetree/base on newest 4.14.67-sunxi kerne…

When I run `evtest` the only devices detected are `vmouse`, `sunxi-gpiokey` and `sunxi-ths`. I tried installing a GUI with xorg, lightdm and xfce. To show the GUI on the display I am using the following command: FRAMEBUFFER=/dev/fb8 startx But touch still isn't working. This is the output of armb…

Since the CT (the A20 one, not the CT+) has been moved to CSC status, I've build a 22.04/jammy minimal image for my CT, and I figured I might as well share it with you. The only changes to "pure" armbian are some power management debug options in the kernel. https://github.com/IGNNE/cubietruck-armbian-unofficial/releases/tag/22.04-2022-09-09 SHA256 of zip file: 9d0028a9f5c6258a739f52f447bf4400d20fec52358f5006ae8a26b602acdfc0

Hi guys. I am testing a NanoPi Neo for an IoT project. I ordered one with unsoldered ethernet and USB ports. I am trying to use a miniature WiFi adapter plugged in the OTG port while powering the board from either the debug +/- pins, or from the 5V bus on the GPIO. The problem is that no mater what option I choose, the board powers up just fine, I can login using the debug port serial-over-consolem however the WiFi adapter doesn't pop up in the lsusb list. Using an OTG USB hub with external power, fires up the WiFi, however this is the only working way and my project has to have minimum cable clutter. I need to be able to plug in the NanoPi Neo on a PCB using its GPIO …

Flash 25.2.0 (The Latest Built Dec 01) to a SD card and boot a Orange Pi 3 LTS, Ethernet lost after sudo reboot the board. It did not even come back after physically power off and on. Have anyone experienced the same problem? The same board worked very well with Debian Bullseyes (downloaded from http://www.orangepi.org/html/hardWare/computerAndMicrocontrollers/service-and-support/Orange-pi-3-LTS.html). I googled and found Orange Pi 3B has similar problem. https://www.reddit.com/r/OrangePI/comments/1aojmn3/orange_pi_3b_ethernet_doesnt_work/

Hi, I finally have time to get back to my little project. I've been trying to get a working display with tinydrm for an ILI9341 base lcd. My setup works on OpenWrt with the older fbtft driver, but now I'd like to go back and try Armbian (current release is Jammy) on it. My first try with devicetree overlay seems functional but not correct. The display just show garbled data (see attached). What could be the problem with it? This is my env. verbosity=1 bootlogo=false console=both overlay_prefix=sun50i-h5 overlays=usbhost1 usbhost2 spi-spidev param_spidev_spi_bus=0 rootdev=UUID=e0ed80c4-a252-4d96-ad61-78b7834d6b8d rootfstype=ext4 user_ov…

Hi guys, Great work you are doing here, giving a second source for all kinds of fruits :-). My question: I like to have a "non desktop, no gui" = headless server with an armbian kernel >= 4.1 for the OrangePiOne to free up my expensive/more universal RPi2 for other tasks. I need a linux kernel >= 4.1, so it recognizes my DVB-C (T230) and DVB-S2 (S960/TT4600) that work with RPi2 as a headless TvHeadEnd SAT>IP server. TvHeadEnd itself works fine on your armbian kernel 3.4.110, but USB cards need a higher kernel level. I succeeded to compile myself with your tools and good explanation, got output, but the image does not startup, no video, no lights…

Hi! I just bought a NanoPi M1 board and It is running with Armbian without problem. Now I want to add a DHT22 temp & hum sensor but searching in the web I cant find any script to get it work. I saw that the RPi script doesn't work on the NanoPi M1 because the chip is differnt. In the Friendlyarm page there is a C script to work with the DHT11, but nothing with the DHT22. So, anyone have been experimenting whit it in this context? There are a Wiring Pi equivalent to NanoPi M1? Thanks

Hi guys, I have set my /etc/default /gpsd as following: It starts without any problem when I run "service gpsd start" but always fails to start at boot. The output of its status is as following after booting up: Does anyone know what I should change in order for gpsd to run properly at boot? Thanks!

Hi I am trying to set up auto-login with enable desktop, using armbian-config as user root, and getting 'killed' once I select which under-priviledged user to enable. (There's two to choose from, and both behave the same with the same error reult). I couldn't find a known issue, please help! OPi Zero LTS 512MB / Armbian from armbian.com Sam

Hello guys, I have an annoying issue with my OPiPC where I simply cannot get HDMI output. I am certain it is not a hardware issue! My OPiPC works fine with HDMI output & android. I have tried a known good HDMI->DVI-D adapter with various settings, and direct HDMI connection with various settings. It is a fresh install of Armbian 5.20 with apt-get update & apt-get upgrade. I have tried a plethora of h3disp settings and direct bin2fex configs! What could be wrong? Here is the current setup I am testing, which I would like to get working: -LG W1942TQ ( 1440x900 native ) -Working HDMI cord and HDMI->DVI-D adapter Interesting bits of the fex file…
