Greetings all! I'm working to get my BananaPro (LeMaker board) up and running with Armbian 5 (Armbian_5.04_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_4.4.3.raw) just downloaded to a fresh SD card. The radio is discovered and appears to be at least tolerated by the drivers. I've modified and recompiled as directed, the boot.cmd as such to point to the bananapro.dtb file directly: setenv bootargs "console=tty1 root=/dev/sda1 rootwait rootfstype=ext4 sunxi_ve_mem_reserve=0 sunxi_g2d_mem_reserve=0 sunxi_no_mali_mem_reserve sunxi_fb_mem_reserve=16 hdmi.audio=EDID:0 disp.screen0_output_mode=1920x1080p60 panic=10 consoleblank=0 enforcing=0 loglevel=1" #-----------------------------…

Hello, I just fresh installed Armbian_5.31_Lamobo-r1_Debian_jessie_next_4.9.7.img on my R1(which is for me a fantastic device). Hi I have the following question which I have asked both to someone from Armworks and also #friendlyelec on free node. I haven't got the solution but it has lead me towards the answer. So my problem is in not being able to get xserver running that it indicates the driver "sun8i-de2" can not be found. As far as I can find not having the driver is the entire problem, however I can't find where I can get it. Below I have posted my full problem below: I have been having problems getting things to display on the LCD display using Xserver. I have been successful displaying images using fbi though. The board the we have it the NanoPi-Neo Plus2. Currently…

Hi everyone, I have an armbian 5.38 headless system on an orange pi zero2plus board. Attached to this board there's the expansion usb board with a wifi dongle and another board connected to twi interface of the gpio header. I power supply the board from the same header with a 5V 5A power supply, I verified and I have no holes on 5V and 3.3V voltage. The external usb dongle is configured as AP with nmcli, the internal wifi board is configured as w-station and is hooked to my home network. On this system is running a python-flask-uwsgi "daemon" that I'm developing. Well, randomly my system hangs, I can't connect to my flask web page, I can't connec…

Hi! So the problem is when I configure wifi hotspot using hostapd, isc-dhcp-server, and ifupdown, I'm able to start the AP, connect to it, and ping. However, the moment any device connects to the AP the serial console gets spammed with this message around once a second: protocol 0000 is buggy, dev wlan0 This happens on the unofficial Armbian build (from the Armbian OrangePi Zero3 page), DietPi, and the official OrangePi Debian build. The wireless band doesn't matter. Kernel version: 6.1.31-sun50iw9. I tried to set up the AP with NetworkManager, but couldn't manage to connect to it. Probably DHCP issues that I couldn't resolve. I haven't …

Hi, Since recent I have an issue that my Orangepi doesn't start anymore. My microSD is fine (did a full diskcheck using badblocks on ubuntu), en I can access all the files without issues. However, it doesn't want to boot. Every time I try to boot it (Orangepi pc), it gives the first black screen until starting kernel, and then gets stuck on the blinking underscore. For information: I have an Orangepi PC and Armbian 5.32 with mainline kernel. Now, this happened after I did an apt-get upgrade (incl. kernel upgrade) from 5.30 to 5.32, and then didn't reboot, but my orangepi had a short power interruption. After this it didn't want to start…

Hi guys, I am trying to install `ARMBIAN 5.38 stable Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch) 4.14.14-sunxi64` to the internal MMC with `nand-sata-install` but it seems that the internal MMC is not available after booting from SD. Any idea on how to flash the internal MMC on a Neo Core 2? Cheers! Robert

Hi. I would like to install Armbian on Cubieboard2 with eMMC as internal storage and have faced some problems. The first challenge was to make eMMC accessible, it was solved using .fex from cubieboard sdk for this revision (also tried cubieboard2dual.fex, but without any effect). The second problem was behavior of nand-sata-install included in desktop image - it overwrite wrong root partition (external SD instead of eMMC), but it was also solved using latest version of nand-sata-install. But after installation, system isn't booting from eMMC. Since root filesystem is successfully copied to eMMC, I think there is problem with bootloader. Is there an…

Hello, I use Orange Pi Zero + 4 ports USB hub + CM108 USB-Audio cards with mic-in. All by default. Each mic is captured with sipmle commands like: arecord -v -r 44100 -c 1 -D "hw:CARD=Device_1,DEV=0" -f S16_LE > mic1.wav When 3 cards capturing simultaneous all working well. But if I start capturing with 4th card simultaneous I get two cards with crackling recorded audio. I even can see that arecord saves less data from these two cards (file size is less than with 3 cards). No error/warning provided anywhere (dmesg, syslog, arecord). Moreover, if I stops recording from one card - it becomes normal fo…

I just got 4 NanoPi Duos v1.1 and the OTG port functions (unlike v1.0)! This is with the FriendlyElec image. I was wondering should I compare the FriendlyElec's sun8i-h2-plus-nanopi-duo.dtb to the one on Armbian? I already tried messing with Armbian's sun8i-h2-plus-nanopi-duo.dtb by changing usb@01c19000 status = "okay" and adding dr_mode = "host". I'm not sure I can just drop in the dtb? Any way, I'll see what I can figure out. I'm excited the OTG port works now for more than just power since that saves you from buying the Mini Shield if you have a simple project that just needs a USB drive or camera.

I run the OPi Zero as a Pihole with etherned, and I would like to minimize power consumption as low as possible. 1. I did change the frequency to be between 120 - 960 Mhz, and ondemand. This probably reduces power and heat too. 2. I'm not sure how to disable USB (I don't need it at all) and WiFi. I read the threads, like this but not sure how to do. Can you please guide me? 3. I saw there are other options too, with a tool h3consuption, but I don't know how to install it and what can I do to squeze down a couple of mW's more. Your help is very much appreciated!

Hello Everybody I'm using olimex olinuxino lime2. I'm to expiriment on real time linux. I'm using Armbian 5.38 stable Debian stretch 4.14.14-sunxi on A20 Lime2. I try to use PGxx pins (connector GPIO-1 on board), without any luck. I know i must use formula (position of letter in alphabet - 1) * 32 + pin number, so i have tried (for PG11): echo 203 > /sys/class/gpio/export echo out > /sys/class/gpio/gpio203/direction echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio/203/value but nothing happened. I tried from 192 to 203 (PG00 to PG11), but nothing happened. On the same connector (GPIO-1), PC23, PC18 and PB23 work perfectly. What am i doing wrong?

Hi there, while trying to solve the issue with OPi PC and rtl8188 (thread link) I managed to get console on the UART interface, nice feature considering my networking issues, btw is there a way to output the kernel messages (dmesg like) to the UART console in real time? I'm asking cos the issue that I'm trying to fix involves system freeze + automatic reboot and I would like to see the logs during the event. I already tried to mess with printk, but it's very likely I've done something wrong.

Hello, I recently bought an Orange PI Lite and wanted to connect it to my WiFi (WPA2 - Personnal) to run a CUPS server. So I connected it to my computer via the serial pins and tried to connect it to my network using nmtui. That looked like it worked well if only a bit laggy at first. But after rebooting it i noticed it was totally unreachable from any other device on the network. So I started pinging everything and started noticing weird stuff : After a reboot Nothing can ping the orange pi unless he pinged them first. When pinging another device from the pi, the first few packets are lost and all following are ~1ms. …

Hi team, I am trying to get a voltage drop (3.3V to about 0V) detected on a GPIO pin on my OrangePi Zero running Armbian buster 20.02.1 with Linux 5.4.31-sunxi. I have another OrangePi Zero on which I have already managed to install I2C OLED screen, and the i2cdetect was working, and so on... For this one, I got a problem with the gpio group not existing. As I tried to install OPi.GPIO, I got usermod: group 'gpio' does not exist It's an Armbian version that I downloaded yesterday, and upgraded today with armbian-config. So... What did I do the wrong way? Thanks.

For some days now I have the board mentioned in the subject, the goal is to have a webserver, git server, and maybe lateron something like a mini-personal-cloud for my family. Yesterday me and my brother finally decided which OS to use - and dd-ed the SD card with the Armbian/Debian Vanilla Jessie Server image (Armbian_5.10_Lime2_Debian_jessie_4.5.2). Some hours later after installing apache2 and trying things out I thought it would be a good idea to do an apt-get upgrade for security reasons before exposing the server to "the world". Unfortunately it was not: The device is not booting any longer after the upgrade. This is the log output of /var/log/apt/term.log (I moun…

Good evening, I'm using a NanoPi Neo Air for streaming audio via bluetooth to a I2S sink. It's working in general but the audio data breaks away every second. It's always a on/off. I'm pretty sure it's connected to the speed between H3 - AP6212a but I'm not able to get it to work propably. I set the UART ttyS3 speed to 1500000 bit/s: My Fexedit looks like that: [bt_para] │ │bt_used = 1 │ │bt_uart_id = 3 │ │bt_uart_baud = 1500000 │ …

Hello, I have a 4x20 LCD display (with an HD44780 compatible adaptor) connected to my Banana Pi. It is running (freshly installed, switched from Bananian) on the mainline kernel: Linux bpi 4.9.7-sunxi #1 SMP Thu Feb 2 01:52:06 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux However, the display is not recognized. Hello, Unfortunately as I read from forums mainline kernel has no driver for gc2035 and v4l2 driver. I have tried Armbian_5_65 and Armbian_5_59 debian stretch but they are not contains these drivers and eventually modprobe command fails. As I understand, I have 2 different solutions to run camera on my system; 1- Going back to legacy build. But I do not know how to go back the legacy build which is last supporter these drivers. 2- Installing required drivers. (Also I want to prefer this solution because going back to legacy build may cause some bugs) How can I install required drivers to mainline stable build and where can I find …

OK, folks, I have I2C working for Luma.OLED, but now I'm trying an SPI display (SSD1331) and having some issues. I modified OPi.GPIO pin mappings as follows (see below), but I'm wondering if my SPI configuration is correct. I'm using overlays=spi-spidev and param_spidev_spi_bus=1, but I'm wondering if I should also be using CS1 configuration as well since I'm using SPI bus 1 (bus 0 is reserved for flash). i.e. param_spidev_spi_cs=1 and overlays=spi-add-cs1. I only ask this because the Luma.OLED instructions say "Because CS is connected to CE0, the display is available on SPI port 0. You can connect it to CE1 to have it available on port 1. If so, pass port=1 in your seria…

hallo, i downloaded debian jessy image with kernel 4.0.5 from there: http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/Lamobo-r1_Debian_3.1_jessie_4.0.5.zipand installed it on bananapi. at first boot seems to be system self-autoconfigured and reboots. Now i see that /etc/network/interfaces is linked with interfaces.r1 and in /boot i found those files: config-4.0.5-lamobo-r1, System.map-4.0.5-lamobo-r1, vmlinuz-4.0.5-lamobo-r1. can it be that autoconfiguration has my bpi as router configured. How can i fix that manualy? nex question: on the boot i see one pinguine, but while bpi has 2 cores it shoul be 2 pinguins or not ? best regards Marijus

Is it possible to turn on gadget mode without compiling my own armbian? Also, I had found on this forum info that legacy roms already have OTG support from the box. Is it true? May be somebody knows tutorials of how to turn on usb gadget mode?

I'm powering my NanoPi Neo V1.4 1801 through the USB type A port beside the Ethernet RJ45. I'm using Armbian 23.11.1 bookworm with kernel Linux nanopineo 6.1.63-current-sunxi. Now I want to enable the Micro-USB port (usually used for powering) to act as an USB host so that I can plugin an USB-stick. I found very few instructions for e.g. Orange Pi. There the device tree needs to be changed for usb@1c19000 and usb0-vbus. Also in armbianEnv.txt the line param_usb0_mode=0 should be added. But none of the instructions work for my NanoPi Neo. In the schematics, a SY6280 is connected via GPIOL2/USB0-DRVVBUS to the H3 cpu. …

Hello. I have a small problem: I can't change the language on my OPi Zero. I have successfully done that with OPi Lite 2 and OPi 3, but for some reason on the Zero when I go to change it, the module fails to load and just quits back to the same "menu page". (essentially does nothing). The only thing I can think of, is that both of the other boards have 1Gb RAM and this only has 512Mb and thus it runs out of memory? That doesn't sound too plausible though - a list of keyboard languages shouldn't take tens or hundreds of megs of RAM. As far as I know, each board is running the same version of Armbian, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hi, I use an OrangePi Zero as a race timer for a car. It is powered from the car. So when the car starts the OrangePi gets power and boots and when the car is turned off the OrangePi loses power and "turns off". This isn't ideal but I don't have a lot of options. I feel like this is a fairly common use case for electronics in cars especially ones like race timers etc. Unless I have a battery as well. I was wondering what are the best things to do to protect against the sudden power loss so that I don't corrupt anything? Is it possible to make parts of the file system read only maybe? All I do with the OrangePi is run a C++ application, it use…

Hi all, I'm trying to access the GPIO from python context and I absolutely need to do it in a rootless way. (WSGI apache module) I'm a newbie and noticed that this is the library command causing the error inside the python library: Code: Select all fd = open("/dev/mem", O_RDWR); I do have /dev/mem on my armbian distro and clearly the access to /dev/mem is root limited, what's worst I don't have /dev/gpiomem Is there a way to create /dev/gpiomem so I can add the apache user to gpio group and solve this? Hi, I was wondering if anyone was having issues with the ethernet port using the legacy kernel ? It does seem to kind of work ... it will get DHCP from the router and configure the routing tables etc but after that it goes wonky. When I do a ping test from the router I get "50/50 transmitted, 15/50 received, 70% loss". A ping test from the opi-win to the router gets a similar result. If I try a ping/ssh from a PC connected to the router I get a 95% packet loss Everything else seems to work fine ... HDMI, USB, WiFi (AP/STA modes) which is really, really nice. Thanks TB

have there been more changes for Desktop recently except the repos? Yesterday I have updated and tried to compile, noticed that the function "fetch_from_github" was gone (replaced by "fetch_from_repo"?). After I changed my script accordingly I was able to compile, but the desktop doesn't come up any more. It looks like "fbturbo" module is completely missing? I don't see any reference to this in the logs; where should it be so I can try to debug?

Hi all I have a project where I'll be deploying the same configuration (including IP addresses) to a multiple Orange Pi Zeros. There will be some slight differences (hostname, information in one script) but largely identical. I was thinking about using a Linux VM to run a script that changes a base image (from a pre-set up machine) makes the changes and burns an image onto microsd. Is this a viable approach? Will I need to change anything else (MAC address related stuff?) Cheers!

Hi all, I'm new here at the Armbian board. I operate a self made house automation based on a Raspberry using a self written PHP server and Homegear. To have a better wireless connection to a differential temperature sensor, I built a Homegear Gateway based on a Nano Pi Neo with Armbian OS and a 868 MHz CC1101 module. For the network connection I use a Realtek USB WLAN NIC (Realtek RTL8188EUS-Chipset). Most of the time the gateway works. But around 2-3 times per week the gateway hangs and I cannot log on anymore. A hard restart by unplugging power is required. The only indications I find are 2 dumps of the RTL8188EU driver in kern.log…

Hello and Happy New Year, From https://redirect.armbian.com/orangepi-r1/Bullseye_current I downloaded: Armbian_22.11.1_Orangepi-r1_bullseye_current_5.15.80.img.xz and installed. I see a file that shouldn't exist: $ ls -l /*core -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 16789504 Nov 30 11:55 /qemu_fstype_20221130-195503_13162.core A short while later I found this: $ armbian-add-overlay /etc/keys-h3.dts /usr/sbin/armbian-add-overlay: line 62: /lib/modules/5.15.80-sunxi/build/scripts/dtc/dtc: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error Error: dtc does not support compiling overlays There is a symlink involved: $ ls -l /lib/mo…

I'm missing something essential. I have NanoPi Neo v1.4 with Armbian 23.5 Jammy CLI (Linux nanopineo 6.1.30-sunxi). My display is Nokia5110 LCD or PCD8544 With spi-spidev DT I can successfully via `spidev0.0` with `spi-tools`. I.e. I confirm that spi is working. Now, I studied about DTO and fbtft driver, found that it supports pcd8544. I wrote this kind of DTO and added it to `armbianEnv.txt` /* * Device: LCD5110 (nokia5110) 1.6"(84x48px) SPI display Module PCD8544 * Module Connector * SDI(MOSI) <- PC0 * SCK <- PC2 * CS <- PC3 * RESET <- PA1 * DC/RS <- PA3 * LED <- PA2 */ /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "all…

Hi there, I have configured (successfully with NetworkManager GUI, or TUI, it was quite ago, can see it in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ ) my OPi3 as an WiFi AP. (Needed this as sharing "normal" LAN traffic with video surveillance on same WiFi channel was a disaster). It works, but in "scan" on OpenWRT routers this WIFi shows only as WPA not WPA2 protected. Armbian Buster 21.02.3. Why? How to correct this? Laurent

Hello, I've flashed my SD card with Armbian_5.41_Orangepiwin_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.10.107_desktop and after booting the system everything works like a charm except my sound which I've tried to get through the 3.5mm jack. I've done upgrade && update but that doesn't seem to help. I've tried several headphones and speakers and none of them worked. On top of that I've tried flashing this image file on one other microSD card and I've tried running it on another Opi Win Plus board since I have several of them lying around my house. Regarding my power supply, it's 5V 3A which I've read is the appropriate one. I'm fairly ne…

Hi orange pi +2e with Distribution: Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS Kernel version: Linux 3.4.113-sun8i armv7l rpimonitor installed with sudo armbianmonitor -r I use Rpimonitor to control temperature, upgradable packages and cpu frequency, nice tool ! Unfortunately it looks that rpimonitor has access to my external external hard drives, so no spin off . I change rpimonitor config files sudo nano /etc/rpimonitor/data.conf #include=/etc/rpimonitor/template/sdcard.conf and sudo nano /etc/rpimonitor/template/Allwinner_H3_Extended_Mainline.conf #dynamic.7.name=externaltemp #dynamic.7.source=/tmp/externaltemp #dynamic.7.regexp=(.*) #dynamic.…

Hi all, I recently purchased an orange pi after developing on the raspberry pi (just for convenience). I got it mainly because the integrated memory could be a real asset both because SD are faulty when making lots of memory accesses and emmc can provide a nice layer of code protection when giving the board to somebody else. I set-up everything without issue and I used the nand-sata-install to move everything to emmc...it worked like a charm. I then placed all my proprietary code on emmc and executed without issues. Problem is, I can obviously still insert an SD card and then mount the emmc and access my code since the SD is booted before the emmc.…

Hello, I have installed Armbian on my Banana M1+ and I have noticed „something“ strange in network communication. The network connector blinked rapidly even though nothing was running so I have installed iftop and found out this: iftop -i eth0 -NP Ankh-Morpork => a81.sub72.net78.udm.net Ankh-Morpork:51413 => a81.sub72.net78.udm.net:57855 Ankh-Morpork => ip70-118.245.80.crimea.com Ankh-Morpork:51413 => ip70-118.245.80.crimea.com:52026 Ankh-Morpork => adsl-225.37.6.247.tellas.gr Ankh-Morpork => ip5653f1a5.direct-adsl.nl Ankh-Morpork:51413 => adsl-225.37.6.247.tellas.gr:29932 Ankh-Morpork:51413 => ip5653f1a5.direct-adsl.nl:6881 I am won…

Not sure if this is the right forum, or it should be under board bringup.... I have a few Duo2 boards running with the FriendlyElec image, but my OrangePi boards all run Armbian... I do prefer Armbian :-) . Playing around a little I can get the Nanopi Neo Air image running, but not with the wired ethernet. (My boards reside on my own design with a ethernet jack, which works perfect with the FE/FA image) I have the Armbian build environment running in a VM, and can compile my own kernel etc. ButI need a few pointers how to get the right board config in the image/kernel.... Or... Does someone already have a build setup running for the Duo2, who is willing to …

When I login on the console, there is this display with a bunch of information, including the CPU temp. I have need to keep track of my CPU's temp, since it seems to be overheating (I have a heat sink on it, but does not seem to be enough -- I have a fan on order). I want to be able to check the temp from time to time, so I would like to run at least the part of the login banner program. What program is that? I am not seeing anything obvious in /bin.
