  1. first off: I'm totally new in the Linux world, but it's really fun to play with *Pis! currently I'm on a OPILite but I have some RasPis lying around and just ordered a nanoPieNEO2. I'm trying to setup a filesystem that supports deduplication, as far as I can tell that's ZFS or BTRFS. After a lot of reading and learning I got BTRFS with bedup running, but bedup is only file-wise deduplication. The solution for block-wise would be duperemove, but I can't find/get/install/build it for armhf. Has somebody tried block-wise deduplication before and can point me in the right direction? I'm running armbian 5.31 on 4.11.5

Hi there! I have been playing around with my NanoPi Neo 2 plus, I managed to get initramfs working thanks to the kernel config of armbian. I have just noticed a problem: only the first of the two USBs works. The second is completely dead. Big disclaimer: I am using an HTC PSU that provides only 1A, not the 2A that should be fed, although I do not know if this could be the cause of the issue. Aside from this problem, I cannot see other issues. Wifi is working and I disabled bluetooth. lsusb without anything plugged in to USB: Bus 008 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub Bus 005 Device 001: ID…

  5. There appears to be a problem or incompatibility with the new 2018.05 u-boot configuration and/or implementation and the Armbian sunxi-next startup scripts (both in the current master branch). The "fdt" command processing doesn't appear to properly expand local environment variables before trying to execute them (?). Here's an example from a vanilla Armbian boot (u-boot 2018.05) - notice the "libfdt fdt_path_offset() returned FDT_ERR_NOTFOUND" errors when the DT fixup script runs: ... 9. Hi, I installed Armbian image 20.8.1-focal-5.8.5 to Orange Pi PC. I am experiencing issues with playing sounds (tested with playing .wav files). Upon starting playback first 1-2 seconds are omitted and then sound plays as it should. I didn't notice this issue on Xenial (3.4.113). Issue is identical to the ones reported in following threads: https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12059-orange-pi-lite-missing-first-second-of-the-audio-output/ https://forum.armbian.com/topic/12059-orange-pi-lite-missing-first-second-of-the-audio-output/ Has anyone managed to solve it? Thanks

  10. The system displays two WLANs, but in reality, there is only one onboard wireless network card. The network connection is slow and disconnected. The official system of Orangepi is normal, this issue occur in the new version of the Armbian system. logs:https://paste.armbian.com/eborebaviq

Hi! Is it only me or there are no updates to packages? Let me explain, I'm running jessie server on A20 latest stable kernel and when I run apt-get update, apt-get upgrade there are never updates available. I have experienced this for some of the latest releases and now I'm starting to thing that something is wrong with my system. Especially because I have a raspberry pi and that (yes, I know is raspbian) is getting updates to packages from time to time. I haven't modified or customized anything in the sources list. And the thing is that I'm getting updates for firmware/kernel when they are available. Any ideas? Is it something normal for armbian (/debian)?

Hi, Please see my comments in the other thread: Essentially when booting a Neo Core using the current air/core mainline image, the onboard fast ethernet is not being initialised. At a guess its because this is not included in the device tree (dtb/dts) for the nano pi air image or in uBoot config - however, if the image is to serve both boards it almost needs to - or they need to be separated. Both are probably reasonable options. Right now i'm trying to understand where the board defs for ethernet are collected during the image build using the armbian build environment and try and get a functional image with fast ethernet for the core…

Hi, I have an Armbian image that uses the DTB for the Banana Pi R1 aka Lamobo R1 device. That same image boots fine also on a Banana Pi M1 device, but still needs the DTB be switched to the M1 device. On the online help page https://docs.armbian.com/known_issues/cubox/ it is written that one can do such a DTB-switching with the armbian-config tool: "use armbian-config to select proper DTB for your board (armbian-config -> system -> DTB)" BUT: there is no "system" entry in my version of armbian-config: Armbian 5.31 stable Debian 8.11 configuration utility, http://www.armbian.com And the login message says: Welcome to ARM…

  32. Hello Community! I am struggling with assigning numbers to I2C buses in my BPi, doing the same(?) thing in two different ways i am getting two different results. By default, there is only /dev/i2c-0 node available, AFAIK because HDMI uses this bus. 1. Using build-in overlay for i2c0 bus (overlays=i2c0 in /boot/armbianEnv.txt) enables another i2c bus. In this case, /dev/i2c-0 is the bus connected to pins 3 and 5 at 40-pin header. The other bus (enabled by default) becomes /dev/i2c-1. It doesn't matter how many times i reset my board, assignment doesn't change. 2. The second way is to create my own overlay by cloning this code and …

  34. I am working on a new project which uses the Banana Pi to capture USB output destined for a printer in order to log the output from a system. The BananaPi will need to be a simple plugin which sits between the machine and a connected USB printer - so we want to: a ) Mimic the connected USB printer (so that the machine thinks it still has the original printer attached) b ) Capture the output from the machine c ) Send the captured output onwards to the printer. The BananaPi seemed the obvious choice as it has the built in USB OTG port and we would use the gadget printer to mimic the attached printer. Unfortunately, the Bananian images do not support the gadget printer a…

  35. This may be one of those questions that should be considered dumb, but I'll risk your flames and ask regardless. Is the Orange Pi ONE GPIO Pin layout the same as the Raspberry Pi? I haven't found much specific to GPIO on the Orange Pi One, but I did see someone who said they were flipped 180 from the RPI. Before I attach a project and risk frying project and./or board, could you point me to a reference that specifies the layout of the GPIO pins on the Orange Pi ONE? And, like I said, I'm really sorry if this is the dumbest thing you've had to read all day. I have searched, but could not find much specific to the ONE.

It doesn't display to DVI but I saw reference to h3disp, so I have hope this applies. I'd like to incorporate a Traveller mode (I made that up) that can be set so the unit knows monitors are likely to change and find an automatic way for this to detect DVI. I'll also get a cheap USB soundcard and output to a monitor that has a soundbar and avoid SPDIF for a while. That's about it: play tutorials and enjoy what Armbian can do. 54. Hi, I'm using the 3.4.107 kernel at the moment and I have also attached an HDD. Now I have the problem that the CUbietruck get's unresponsive once every 1-2 weeks and because of the ramlog I have no logs to see what the problem is. All services stop working, but power is still "on". My only idea is to replace ramlog solution by "normal" logfile writing (and because I use an HDD it's maybe better to directly write on HDD in any case) to have infos when the machine crashes the next time. What I do need to do for that (I'm not really a linux expert ;-) ). Thanks for help. Ingo F

I plan to write drivers myself, however I want to be sure it is only driver limitation. Any advice will be appreciated.

I noticed a change in u-boot and the newer Armbian releases have Ethernet-Support in u-boot. So my basic idea is to not just copy the kernel files but also update u-boot via dd command. I suppose there are at least 3 regions in the image: 1. the partition table which I don't want to change. 2. the u-boot configuration which I'd like to keep. 3. the u-boot runtime. So for #2 and #3 I'll need an image file. I'm trying to set-up a build environment f…

How to achieve the above? Thanks Thom
