  1. Hi there, 2 days ago I did apt update + apt upgrade on my OPi3, everything fine. Yesterday I did a system reboot (as suggested "kernel changed"), then Eth port went dead. No even ARP works (ARPING). Have tried: - ifconfig shows correct values, - ethtool shows 1Gbps FDX connection, also same on router (OpenWRT TL-WR1043ND w 18.06 software), - changed eth cable, - on other OPi connected to same switch / router (also went dead) depowering device helped, but not on OPi3, - ARP shows MAC/IP not resolved, - WiFi (configured as AP) looks working. - also changed port on router and did power cycle device, nothing helps. - on r…

  7. TKaiser. If you install the Desktop version of Armbian 5.10 then the following list of codecs (containing h.265 with 8 bit but not 10 bit!) is available for HW accelerated decoding: http://linux-sunxi.o...ed_codec_matrix Is 8 Bit versus 10 Bit a limitation. Can the Orange Pi PC with Armbian 1.10 decode all HEVC 8 or 10 bit encoding to 8 bit decoding, or can it ONLY do 8bit encoded to 8 bit decoding? Seasalt

My Opi3 has been running armbian for over 2 years (edge kernels & usually fully up-to-date). I have been using eMMC & I noticed an apparent slowdown about 6 months ago. As it performs cron-based tasks and is a stats collector, this performance was not noticable but doing a manual BIG dist-upgrade, it seems to take forever (20 minutes to do what should be under 5 minutes). If I run "mmc extcsd read /dev/mmcblk1", the results tell me that the eMMC is at least 90% used whatever that really means. Is this a sign of imminent failure ? hdparm shows read results of 17 MB/s which is actually slower than my alternative SD card boot device and nearly 1/10th …

Hello again, since I use the NAND-Flash to boot and I want to use the new kernel, which doesnt support NAND yet, I'm curious if its possible to use both: 1. Can I boot the new kernel from NAND? Since the new kernel is started after uboot, it should be possible? 2. Afterwards I have no possibility to update the kernel again. Or do I have? (Without SD-Card) a.) the nand-tools requires the nand-driver??? Or is there a possibility to writea prebuild image to nand without kernel-nand-support? b.) is it possible to start an old kernel from the new for upgrading? Tried "kexec uImage", but it doesnt work. Maybe I need the zImage instead of uImage? best regards

  25. One of the Bananapi-m1+ GPIO pins is connected to an LED that I need to illuminate as quickly as possible after power-on. Using an older Fedora Linux release, it turns on in 3 seconds. Using a recent Armbian build, it takes 45 seconds. I've tried many ways using services with early "After=" targets, to access /sys/class/gpio/* interfaces more quickly, and this improved it by 5 seconds, but it's still too long. So I tried adding a device tree overlay to set the default value in the pin controller. I am confident the DT overlay is getting read and parsed properly, based on seeing artifacts in debugging streams, but still, no LED illumination. Anybody got any ideas on …

I'am running the latest Stretch server version on a PiOne (Linux 4.14.65-sunxi). I think that something is going wrong with the logrotate. The rotation is done in /var/log.hdd directory (see also the scripts in /etc/logrotate.d/). But the original file of each is in /var/log directory and is not "cleared" after the rename, because it is not renamed. So, if Zram copies /var/log directory to the /var/log.hdd directory, the original file in /var/log with old logging and included new logging is written to the /var/log.hdd directory. In the next logrotate this growing file is compressed. In this situation/in my case the compressed files contains all the loggings and no…

Hi, I have two questions: 1. Where can I download the latest image for my board? rom this forum entry I see there is no armbian image for the first Orange Pi? The link https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi/ doesn't work, as it redirects to https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus/ which is definetly not the same (A20<>H3) 2. After doing a 'firmware upgrade' from armbian-config, it identifies itself as a Banana-pi. Is it normal? The MOTD is BPi and armbian-config shows BananaPi as well.

  46. Hi, I own the first Orange Pi (A20, VGA, HDMI, NAND, 4xUSB, WiFi). I notice there is no Armbian image for download anymore. The last one I still have is a 3.4.113, 5.25 Ubuntu/Xenial-default-desktop (currently running from the NAND very well, but I can't seem to run the wifi in AP mode). Is Armbian for this board is dropped for good ? Is there a way to update my 5.25 to last version without breaking everything ? Or maybe convert a A20 image to this board, using the working image I'm currently using ? Thanks !

Now the system can fall asleep and wake up by a timer (without an external RTC, provided that it is powered) or by pressing a button - while wifi connects itself (if there is an automatic connection) and the system continues to work as if nothing had happened without unnecessary loading. 2. As a bonus, I added an indication of reading from a flash card as a red LED (this can be turned off). 3. I also activated the host on the micro-usb connector - now you can connect something else via the otg adapter as a third USB connector. To apply t…

  54. Hello! It's about installing Armbian on OPi+ 2E without a reliable sdcard and with no proper card reader - U-Boot goes to sdcard, Armbian image goes to USB dong then installed to eMMC. I did this once but can't remember what device was the sdcard in Android, if anybody knows it would be great to share. It mounts as /dev/block/vold/179:1, but writing (dd) u-boot.bin to 179:0 or 179 doesn't result in a bootable sdcard (the OPi boots from eMMC, and as far as I remember if it has bootable sdcard inserted it should boot from it no matter what is on the eMMC). The reason for this is that I've connected a relaisboard to some GPIO Pins that will need "1" to be deactivated . Everything works fine, I can control and work with these Pins like needed by using "1" for OFF and "0" for ON. After booting up my BPI I initialize the needed GPIO Pins via export the pins. 68. Hi all, recently my Banana Pi Pro running Armbian 26.5.1 with Debian Trixie received a kernel update from 6.16.8 (which it has been running on for quite a while without issues) to 7.0.12. Since then, it randomly freezes shortly after booting, sometimes I also can see a kernel panic (see attached pictures). Has anyone else run into this issue? What can I do to fix this? The old kernel no longer appears to be present in /boot, which makes it difficult to return to another kernel (trying to run something like apt-get typically quickly results in the aforementioned freeze).

  75. I've got an Orange Pi PC2, and I'm running some pretty CPU intensive tasks on it. However, I'm running into a situation where the processor is overheating and shutting down. I've got a bunch of OPiZero's, and on those I'm used to the kernel automatically throttling the CPU frequency down and/or shutting off cores in response to rising CPU temps -- but I'm not seeing that happen on the PC2 -- it just stays at max CPU speed until it overheats and shuts down. Is there a way to enable that same behavior on the PC2? (I'd rather it throttle down the CPU frequency instead of overheat...)

You see SD cards are expensive when you need to buy 30 of them so I have been trying for about a month now to make armbian work without the SD card. The idea is to boot into the os get a few things running and then remove the card and boot another pi. I have tried creating a ramfs mount and copying/mounting (what I believe are) all the requirements and then using chroot. But that doesnt work at all. I'm imagining that outside of chroot services are still running and once they cant write to some file…

  91. Hello, I am using Armbian 5.30 stable Ubuntu 16.04.2 LTS 3.4.113-sun8i and when I plugged usb grabber with chipset utv007 lsusb shows Bus 002 Device 005: ID 1b71:3002 Fushicai USBTV007 Video Grabber [EasyCAP]. But /dev/video0 is not created. Please, Is there any hack or module I should load to have it in /dev/video0?

  92. Just FYI: By simply exchanging U-Boot and the board's .dtb file Armbian is able to run on a Banana Pi M2 which is based on the A31s SoC: http://www.bananapi.com/index.php/forum/general-discussion-for-bpi-m2/995-working-wifi-on-modern-kernels-4-1-tested?start=6 (comprehensive instructions for Arch Linux on the M2 available there)

  94. I'm using g_ether to connect OrangePiPc+ to network over USB OTG. On legacy kernel, that was giving 140 Mbits/sec IN (download from network to OrangePiPc+) and 170 Mbits/sec OUT. After upgrading to mainline kernel 4.19.62 (or 5.3.9), IN throughput degraded to 93-98 Mbits/sec (while OUT improved reaching up to 210 Mbits/sec in CDC EEM mode). This easily reproducible on both my boards OrangePiPc+ and OrangePiZero with latest Bionic images (clean installations + "modprobe g_ether iProduct="Linux-USB Ethernet/RNDIS Gadget" iManufacturer="Netchip Technology, Inc." dev_addr=02:81:05:F0:5C:24 host_addr=02:81:05:F0:5C:23 use_eem=0" ). Any ideas where is the bottleneck…

  95. I'm interested in having an Orange Pi act as a VNC host to various platforms having the ethernet running over the OTG cable. To that end I've been testing the Armbian Debian_stretch_next desktop image with the 4.x kernel (dated 5.34.171129 nightly build) on my Orange Pi Pc+. I placed g_ether in the /etc/modules and configured it with the module parameter options g_ether use_eem=1 in my g_ether.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d and allow-hotplug usb0 iface usb0 inet static address 169.254.1.1 netmask 255.255.0.0 in my /etc/network/interfaces file. I have set up the orange pi to run a DHCP server and avahi on the O…

  96. Using Armbian_20.02.1 with 5.4 kernel on NEO2 board, I'm running into an issue trying to get the USB OTG working with the g_ether module. When I run modprobe g_ether I see the following in dmesg: [ 490.490582] udc-core: couldn't find an available UDC - added [g_ether] to list of pending drivers I've also tried compiling my own img using the Armbian builder but it looks like all the correct OTG options are already selected by default. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

I am trying to get my nanopi m1 to show up as an ethernet device and I can't make it work in mainline or legacy. Since I'm aiming for mainline anyway, could someone help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

  98. Hi, I want to use g_ether on NanoPi Neo Plus2. For Neo Air, I have already figured out how to do this and I can see usb0 in config. But with armbian 5.85 (4.19.38-sunxi64), the same instructions fail at sudo ifconfig usb0 up with the message "usb0: ERROR while getting interface flags: No such device". Could somebody tell me how to activate USB OTG on NanoPi Neo Plus2 and then use g_ether. I think the same holds true for g_serial. This could be an alternative, but I would prever ethernet connection. My target: Connect NanoPi Neo Plus2 with NanoPi Neo Air via Ethernet Thank you for your help! Steps I followed for g_ether:

  99. Hello everyone, I am using Nanopi air and I wish to have ethernet and mass storage simultaneously. I went through numerous problems but now I have OTG working. If i try modprobe with g_serial, g_ether, or g_mass_storage, each works individually. Even g_cdc ( ethernet + serial ) and g_acm_ms ( mass storage + ethernet ) work. when I try to run : modprobe g_multi file=/sdcard.img I get the following: [ 290.720691] g_multi gadget: unable to autoconfigure all endpoints [ 290.880936] g_multi musb-hdrc.1.auto: failed to start g_multi: -524 Please help

Hi everyone, I want to create an USB device, for this i am following this tutorial : gadgetfs. It works fine, but when i want to have an endpoint superior to 4, i cannot. I just changed to Unfortunately, in the folder created i have only this files : ep1in ep1out ep2in ep2out ep3in ep3out ep4in ep4out musb-hdrc I thought a usb device can have 32 endpoints. So, is it possible to have an extra endpoint ? And i have an extra question, as a kernel noob, I don't fully understand how this guy came out with thi…
