I found a problem about ethernet port leds in mainline kernel, legacy kernel is fine. the ethernet port has two leds, one is link-up (green), the another one is act (orange). Hi, With an Orange Pi Zero Plus I‘d like to run a DLNA (UPnP) music server for streaming flac files - means music only - to certain clients via LAN, for instance a network AV receiver. Therefore, 100 MBit/s should be sufficient. How to limit the OPi0+ network speed to 100 MBit? And to switch off Wifi also? ... ... for minimizing power consumption. Presupposed Armbian + OMV (+ miniDLNA plugin) installed. Thanks, Joe

I have noticed a very weird problem: connection works for some time (several hours or sometimes days) and then stops. Once it stopped working (connection between my mobile app and OrangePi) I have checked on the board: - ping 8.8.8.8 - OK - ping (router IP) - OK - ping (broadcast ) - FAILED - ping (PC or any other device connected to the network) - FAILED In all cases, Wireshark captures the ping requests. Once I tried to ping OrangePi board from my PC, I see in&out ping packet on OPI board by Wireshark. It seems like some lower layer or router (the same on two different) blocks the outgoing connection. Ideas? (WiFi power management off, no fir…

Hi all, I'm new here. Since I bought my OPi One I didn't try any of the official images, but only armbian legacy kernel. The first OPi one I thought it was broken, no led on the board only the eth ones, nothing happend on the screen (homemade power cable with 1.4 plug and a xiaomi ac power adapter 5V 2A almost correctly given, tested with a multimeter). The image was burned on a 4gb kingston micro sd card with etcher formatted with sd formatter. So I bought another one, and I have the same identical issue. So, I started to study and I found out that I could connect to the OPi through SSH. So it what I tried to do all the night. Again image burned with e…

Hi all! Has anyone some experience with dts overlays for the mainline kernel 4.14.47? I connected the SHT11 temperature sensor to PA7 and PA8, installed the sht1x.dts overlay from https://github.com/armbian/sunxi-DT-overlays/blob/master/examples/sht1x.dts via "sudo armbian-add-overlay sht15.dts" and afterwards looked via dmesg into the kernel output. That's what my OPLite reports: It is a kernel IO error. The LogicAnalyzer doesn't record any pin toggle. But what am I doing wrong? Do I have to deactivate the pins in GPIO driver? Can someone please help me? As I soldered the SHT11 by myself I modified some RPi userspace code to v…

Hello Respected Supporters, After upgrading to Armbian 26 (kernel version 6.12.58), the onboard network card (end0) experienced a severe degradation in transmission performance (reduced to approximately 1/10 of previous levels). Upon investigation, it was discovered that the kernel driver (dwmac-sun8i) has locked all hardware offload features (TSO/GSO/Checksum), forcing the CPU to handle all processing in software. root@orangepi3:~# uname -r 6.12.58-current-sunxi64 root@orangepi3:~# dpkg --list | grep linux-image ii linux-image-current-sunxi64 26.2.0-trunk.48 arm64 Armbian Linux current kernel image 6.1…

Hello, I'm starting in this world with an Orange Pi Lite, but I'm not being able to perform the initial setup using serial console gadget on the OTG port. To prevent power problems, I'm using the DC input. Unfortunately I haven't found enough information to make the configuration on a Linux PC, since I wasn't able to know the /dev address to connect through screen. You've probably noticed that my knowledge of Linux is rather scarce. Thanks in advance!

The problem I have an USB endoscope camera that works fine with my Orange Pi lite's normal USB port. However I need both USB port for other devices, so I want to connect this same USB camera, which was orginally marketed as USB otg camera for android phones, using Opi lite's micro usb otg connector. What have I tried - In armbian-config menu, I have enabled usbhost0. I believe this overlay is for the usb otg port, but just to be sure I also enabled usbhost1, usbhost2 and usbhost3. - Using dtc I decompiled sun8i-h3-orangepi-lite.dtb into sun8i-h3-orangepi-lite.dtc. - In this dtc file, I looked up musb, and changed status = "disabled" to "o…

Hi, I'm new to the Armbian/Alt PI scene, coming from a RPI Zero W. I'm needing to interact with my PI using a CH340G (is it compatible) USB to TTL dongle. I've also trjed a CH351A device, put it into UART mode. Unfortunately, I get nothing from the PI. Despite using the primary RX/TX pins. I've also tried enabling all of the UART pins using armbian-config, and using another set of pins - to no avail. Please view my setup below. I've run out of ideas of where I'm going wrong. Hello All, I have Orange Pi one board with Armbian 5.20 Desktop and Kodi/mpv/mplayer installed. I want to make OP1 a home media center. Desktop is set to 1080p60 (1920x1080p 60Hz, by h3disp script). My problem: Everything works perfect when playing videos mkv (x264/h264), mpeg2, mpeg etc. for mpv, mplayer, kodi even 1080p materials. But I have a problem playing videos coded with MPEG4 (popular avi xvid). MPV config: vo=vdpau hwdec=vdpau fs=yes framedrop=vo Video looks like this: http://pasteboard.co/i5YOuOebV.jpg When I use vo=x11 and video is not in fullscreen everyting is OK, on full screen i get: LIBGL: Initialising glshim Playing: The.English.Patie…

Hi. The following happened. When power is suddenly cut off in emmc, the file contents created by fopen (), fprintf (), fflush() and fclose () are not saved after rebooting. It seems that it has not been physically written out while being cached. If display the file before cutting off the power, the contents are correctly saved. In addition, if it is normally reboot it is saved correctly.

So, hello. Sorry for bad/broken English, I'm still teaching it. As in title, I can't boot my orange pi 2 plus from sd card. I have tried with one tv(hdmi-hdmi 1920x1080), and one normal pc monitor (hdmi-dvi 1440x900) sd card is 8gb class 10 producent "team". I burned my image with Etcher 1.1.1 Funny is that, lubuntu image from eMMC is working fine, I've tried to boot lubuntu, ubuntu, image, with no effect, the only image that works is from eMMC(i have installed it months ago) At start, the green LED lights up and after 5, maybe 10 seconds red LED is blinking, something like blink-blink-2/3 seconds break-blink-blink I feel like I should create this …

Dear friends, I have a problem with the ethernet connection of my orange pi plus 2e. The connection was working normally and stopped, I can only access through the wi-fi. I already researched it and found no solution. Open the connections and pressing ifupdown (eth0) the following error appeared: (1) Creating object for path 'org / freedesktop / NetworkManager / ActiveConnection / 14' failed in libnm-glib. Is there a connection to this error with a lack of ethernet connection?

Greeting, I installed the OrangePI plus image (desktop) on my Orange PI plus2. It seems to work fine but I can't get any video output. I tested with several h3disp settings, with a HDMI to VGA adapter then with an HDMI to DVI adapter, and finally on the A/V port. I have no hdmi screen to test direct connection without adapters. Ideally I would like to use the HDMI to VGA adapter. any ideas ?

I run the OPi Zero as a Pihole with etherned, and I would like to minimize power consumption as low as possible. 1. I did change the frequency to be between 120 - 960 Mhz, and ondemand. This probably reduces power and heat too. 2. I'm not sure how to disable USB (I don't need it at all) and WiFi. I read the threads, like this but not sure how to do. Can you please guide me? 3. I saw there are other options too, with a tool h3consuption, but I don't know how to install it and what can I do to squeze down a couple of mW's more. Your help is very much appreciated!

After nearly one year of kernel crashes, I finally found the stable configuration for Orange Pi Zero 3 as a 24/7 SDR server. The critical discovery: legacy kernel 6.6.75-sunxi64 is the only stable option. The current kernel crashes within hours under SDR load. Additional fixes: - Blacklist aw859a WiFi driver (causes kernel instability) - Blacklist DVB modules for RTL-SDR - Lock libairspyhfSupport.so with chattr +i (SpyServer/SoapySDR conflict) - Mask systemd-networkd-wait-online - CPU governor: schedutil - usbcore.autosuspend=-1 for USB SDR dongles Running 3 SDRs simultaneously: RTL-SDR Blog V4, …

Hi, I'm having some instability issues with WiFi driver on Orange Pi Zero Plus, it uses RTL8189FTV instead of buggy XR819 chip. Hello. I have an Orange Pi Zero board with Armbian on it. I want to use its serial pins for flashing arduinos. Right now I only have 1x3 serial pins and 1x13 media (?) pins soldered, the 2x13 GPIO doesn't have any pins and I don't have any spare ones to solder (alright, I might have some, but I'm too lazy for that). That means I only have access to UART0 pins which are currently reserved for Linux console. With RPi Zero and Raspbian the same problem was solved by simply removing "console=ttyAMA0,115200" from kernel options. However, Armbian seems to generate kernel options entirely from armbianEnv.txt, making it impossible to manually remove ser…

Hello everyone! So i bought an "Orange Pi PC" from ebay and i'm trying to set it up without much sucess. I downloaded the "Armbian_5.14_Orangepi2_Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112.raw" image from the armbian webpage. ( I also did my Cubieboard wich worked fine with the same steps. ) The commandline i used to write the image to an sdcard is this: sudo dd if=./Armbian_5.14_Orangepi2_Ubuntu_xenial_3.4.112.raw of=/dev/sdc bs=1M oflag=direct sudo sync And then i unplug the sd card and put it into my OrangePi and when it boots the g…

Hey everyone, First off, I don't use Linux often so please bear with me if I miss out on obvious things. I have a few Orange Pi Lite boards, and after booting up Armbian 5.14 I was excited to give the Wifi a try after only having ethernet on my Orange Pi One boards. My OPi Lite sees my network just fine, but when I put in my credentials and go to connect to it, it fails returning "Bad Password". For what it's worth, I've checked the password probably 25+ times, I promise it's right. The wifi WILL connect to open networks, however. Is there some obvious solution that I'm missing here? Any help or direction would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi, I'm trying to boot from SATA the original OrangePI: Using the Jessie "Linux orangepi 4.9.12-sunxi #4 SMP Thu Feb 23 19:46:51 CET 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux" Followed this thread: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/329-moving-linux-to-sata-or-external-drive/ - copied to /dev/sda1 - edited /boot/boot.cmd and changed to /dev/sda1 - edited the mounted sda1 fstab and changed / to SATA drive UUID - compiled: mkimage -C none -A arm -T script -d /boot/boot.cmd /boot/boot.scr Rebooted but Orange Pi still boots from mSD card and does not use SATA drive. Question: Should I use UUID of the SATA drive in /boot/boot.cmd?

Hi, I have flashed Armbian_5.35_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop.img - and it works fine with my Orange Pi Lite v.1.1 But if I flash Armbian_5.38_Orangepilite_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.img which is aslo supported, the device does not boot. At least I get no output on HDMI, and no serial console over OTG. So I cannot check if it does not boot at all, or dies somewhere in the middle How can I check why it does not boot?

Hello! I recently started setting my board up, and came across all the information needed to enable the LCD use for it. For info, I've updated to 5.20. I have gone through the whole process to change the script.bin to fex, edit, change back, copy and sync. The changes are saved, I have even made a copy of the script.bin to script.fex in order to see if the new script contains the changes I made. All is there. It seems to be the problem another user had in this thread: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/841-bananapro-lemaker-5in-lcd-legacy-kernel/ In this case I chose the lcd_if=4 since it is what they provide at sunxi, but it didnt work. I then ch…

I recently ordered 3 A20-OLinuXino-LIME2-e16GB devices (with 16GB eMMC) and received rev. K boards. Unfortunately, I have troubles with both "official" Olimex eMMC rel 16 image and latest (as of last week) Armbian Stretch images. Both images booted fine from SD card (also tried multiple SD cards, one of them bought from Olimex ) and I was able to run the emmc.sh / nand-sata-install scripts fine. Now the troubles started as I turned off the device, removed the sd-card and tried to boot from eMMC. All 3 boards had entered FEL mode. From fel mode I was able to use the `sunxi-fel` utility and push the uboot fine... Initially I was able to g…

Hi, I'm new with Armbian, have some experience with Raspberry. I have succesfully installed it on a bananaPi. uname -a Linux bananapipro 4.4.3-sunxi #19 SMP Tue Mar 1 21:34:52 CET 2016 armv7l GNU/Linux Then I have installed Logitechmediaserver with dpkg -i logitech....deb It runs well, but after a reboot the installation is not there anymore. /var/lib is default, the init.d-script is also not there. Any hints? Edit: I have the message for 19 updates, so I made apt-get update After reboot, all updates are gone and I get the message for the 19 updates again. Regards DoXer

So I'm back again! - The guy with the Banana Pi's he thought were Banana Pro's. I went and bought one of those stubby little WiFi dongles...fairly generic, Realtek 8192cus...but still (can't believe I'm saying this in public) can't get it up. I'm super frustrated. My current project with these boards is to set myself up some magical WiFi "security" cameras. Everything else works. Webcam works, "motion" detects and records, a little nodejs app manages some scheduling stuff, ssmtp sends me video recordings....but this blasted WiFi!! Help? I'll comment shortly with some technical details/diagnostic dumps(busy re-writing my backup img …

I recently switched from a Raspberry Pi 2 running Arch Linux to a Banana Pi (the original) running Armbian for music streaming using MPD. My output device is an XMOS-based Gustard U12 asynchronous USB transport feeding my DAC via AES/EBU. Using Armbian on the Banana Pi, all my 24-bit/192kHz music is being played back as 24/96, according to the display on the transport and DAC. All other sample rates (44.1, 88.2 etc.) are being played back in their native sample rates, as expected. Is ALSA on Armbian system-wide limited to 96 kHz? I have never had an issue like this before, and I don't know where to begin in regards to troubleshooting. I'm guessing th…

I'm having trouble getting the RaZberry zwave extension board working in Armbian 5.31 with the mainline kernel. Previously on Bananian I just symlinked ttyS2 to ttyUSB99 and I was able to use the RaZberry with OpenZwave. But now, I have no idea how to get it working. I guess it has got something to do with overlays for the kernel but I haven't been able to find out exactly sifting thru the internet... Help very much appreciated.

System: armbian, BananaPi Pro, sd card, sata ssd, usb hdd I manually moved my existing armbian system from sd card to a sata ssd. Then I changed the rootdev in armbianEnv.txt to the ssd´s UUID. Hi all! I have an Olimex Olinuxino-Lime2-4GB A10 cpu based dev board and I have installed Armbian on an SD card. Everything works fine, except when trying to compile some drivers for the wifi dongle that I want to use. The dongle has an RTL8188CUS chip, and I also have another dongle with an RTL8192CU chip, and when following the instructions found here the compilation fails, because of the kernel headers missing. The instructions work fine on other distributions. Could someone help me figure out how to successfully compile the drivers? Where can I get the kernel headers? I really need these drivers for my project.

Hello, I've been trying to use DNSCrypt on ARMBian Debian on OrangePi Zero. When I'm not using daemon, and run manually, this time it says "Unable to bind (TCP)". But when I compile and use in Ubuntu, it works nicely. This is my GitHub issue on DNSCrypt repository, including all my tests and inputs: https://github.com/jedisct1/dnscrypt-proxy/issues/561 …

I have a encrypted external hard drive connected via USB. I want to be able to automatically access it after boot so I made a keyfile that I put in /etc/crypttab. After updating the crypttab file I ran update-initramfs -u. But after reboot the drive is still locked. Why is this? I suspect it might be because of the order of things at boot. Maybe crypttab is called before the USB device is initialized? Any help would be appreciated. Edit: I had a incorrect crypttab that's why it didn't mount. It works now thanks!

Hi, Since the armbian release 5.3.6 (Linux 8 jessie 4.13.16-sunxi64) does not contain the module 'nls_utf8', one can not use the OpenMediaVault - OMV - plugin 'Remote Mount' for accessing an external HDD ... for example, which is connected to a Fritz!Box (running Fritz!NAS). Further details please see OMV - Remote Mount: How to mount an HDD that is connected to a Fritz!Box 7490? Please include the module 'nls_utf8' (and maybe some more nls_* modules) in an update compilation, which is based on the same kernel. Many thanks in advance. The module is provided in following Debian Jessie file list (image): https://packages.debian.org/jessie/…

It took me some time to figure how to make it work, so I decided to save it for some poor soul who would need it in future. (I am a Windows guy so this stuff is a bit alien for me). I bought <$2 WiFi dongle for my new Orange PI PC from here: http://www.aliexpress.com/snapshot/7899695282.html?orderId=76846564349160 I am running latest "ARMBIAN jessie 3.4.112-sun8i". The chip was detected by the OS but didn't work: lsusb gave me this: Bus 004 Device 002: ID 148f:7601 Ralink Technology, Corp. I tried several solutions: installing "firmware-ralink" package, compiling various sources and getting "loboris kernel" using code from this git: https://github.co…

I installed Armbian xenial 3.4.112 on an Orange Pi PC in July of 2016. It ran non-stop until sometime in February. I realized it was no longer sending data to the internet. When I checked, the Orange Pi PC was still powered. However, the green+yellow ethernet LEDs were both blinking together at what looked like 2sec intervals. After only a short time of running, the CPU was already 84C. When I originally had put the Orange Pi PC into service, it would remain close to 43C. I connected a monitor and keyboard. It booted and a look at syslog showed the eth0 was looping on `DHCPDISCOVER`. I tried `ifconfig etho down` and `ifconfi…

I have found other treads that address "tv out not working" but none have been applicable. They point to files that are not on my system. It is an older orange pi zero. I have installed the latest armbian image. Here is the "lsb_release -a" return: Distributor ID: Ubuntu Description: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Release: 20.04 Codename: focal I am currently operating headless and the login splash screen says "Welcome to Arbian 21.02.3 Focal with Linux 5.10.21-sunxi" I am trying to use the 13 pin connector. Pin 2 = ground (shield) and Pin 9 = video signal (center conductor) I have found forum threads about enabling the tv out bu…

Greetings, I'm not good with linux so excuse any stupidity i might say. I have been using Xenial for years now and just decided to update. In the past i was using the sunxi module to access gpio's For ex: echo 1 > /sys/class/gpio_sw/PA7/data Now in Bionic i just noticed gpio's are not accessed in the same way. According to this user, we can either use sysFS (which seems deprecated) or libgpiod. The problem is that i can't make it work. libgpiod: root@orangepi:~# gpioset gpiochip0 29=1 gpioset: error setting the GPIO line values: Unknown error 517 sysFS: root@orangepi:~# echo "29" >/sys/class/gpio/export -bash: echo…

Hello, I'm having problems with USB sound card - speaker - card reader combo, named CD002 (hardware ID e2b0:0811). I managed to make it work with clean Armbian 5.38 image (kernel 4.14.14) by installing pulseaudio, but it sounds like crap using both mplayer and aplay; mplayer reports "audio device stuck" sometimes. The card is definitely OK, on RPi3 running DietPI it worked immediately and sounds fine. How do I set it up correctly so that it sound fine on OrangePi Zero & Armbian?

Hi, Many thanks for your support. I installed successfully the OpenMediaVault (OMV) ISO Image on the new Orange Pi Zero Plus (OPI0+): OMV_3_0_91_Orangepizeroplus_4.13.13.img.xz. I mounted an external USB 2.0 HDD. via OMV The OPI0+ is directly connected thru LAN cable to the router (Fritz!Box 7490). Login via PuTTY ssh works also fine. Additionally, I installed miniDLNA and configured folder/file sharing and media streaming. The flac-files are provided quickly, including album cover pictures (jpg). Now, I kindly ask for your support to disable Wi-Fi (WLAN). I thought about blacklisting the module 'cfg80211', but …
