Allwinner sunxi

Community maintained Allwinner SoC based boards

  1. It is one of the smallest board featuring H5 soc. Since it has an on-board HDMI connector, i think it would be great to have a Desktop image for this board. Other H5 /similar boards like PC2 and Prime already have various desktops available (xenial / stretch with xfce).... Do u guys have any plan to release one in the future? and thanks a lot for the tremendous amount of effort u have put into this project :)

  2. I am trying to switch legacy kernel to "next". I did it successfully with armbian-config for OrangePiPC (obviously Armbian was installed on SD card). Once I attempted to do the same with Orange Pi Plus and system installed onto internal EMMC then after reboot... nothing. I am wondering also if the issue is related to platform or the fact that Armbian was installed on EMMC. I have connected TTL2USB and following is the result (seems to be indefinite loop): U-Boot SPL 2017.11-armbian (Jan 25 2018 - 07:58:02) DRAM: 2048 MiB Trying to boot from MMC2 U-Boot 2017.11-armbian (Jan 25 2018 - 07:58:02 +0100) Allwinner Technology CPU: Allwinner H3 (SUN8I …

  3. I just received 3 of the Zero Plus boards and am trying to verify they at least basically work. I'm new to Armbian & Orange Pi but have been using Raspbian & Raspberry Pi's for years. I've downloaded Armbian for the OP Zero (Armbian_5.38_Orangepizero_Debian_stretch_next_4.14.14.img), verified the gpg signature and the sha256 checksum and used Etcher v. 1.4.4 on a 2017 iMac, macOS Sierra, to burn SD cards. After burning, macOS claims "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." Maybe that's normal for Armbian? diskutil list shows: /dev/disk8 (external, physical): #: TYPE NAME SIZE …

  6. Hi, my old 1366x768 VGA LCD monitor was working with legacy kernel but after I downloaded and installed image with new kernel ( Ubuntu_xenial_next.7z) I could not get it to work with VGA output. 10. Some time before I installed iobroker on my cubietruck and since that the system crashes every now and then. Two times iobroker was not able to start anymore after a crash. After googling I found out that maybe my SD card is the problem and so I bought a SSD. Now I found out that I don't have to reinstall the system. I can simply transfer all data from SD to SSD by using nand-sata-install. Everything worked fine. System reboots. But only the SSD partition was formated and all data was transfered. The boot information was not changed. Because I have no idea about unix boot configuration I better keep my hand…

Hi, Before I start, I want to thank the developers for making great products. I am fairly new to SBCs, but unlike the official images, Armbian works great on my OP plus 2E. I have recently bough a OP zero+ H5, but as it lacks ethernet, I can't set it up. Is there a way (like raspbian) to set up wifi on the sd card after i burn the image on to it?

  16. The rtl8189etv wifi module on the orange pi r1 is not integrated into the main PCB. From photos on the web there seem to be such wifi modules with little pins which maybe can just be plugged in like some kind of hat but there are also versions without pins. Does anyone know if the wifi module on the opi r1 can be just unplugged or do the pins need to be cut or desoldered? Are there any issues to expect when removing the module. Wifi won't work obviously, but anything beyond that ?

I guess if i change this to opengl es then speed will be ok. Because on Android on same device, apk's fps is 60. Please help me.

  23. I have a rev 1.4 Orange Pi Zero that overheats. I've confirmed this by touch and know it's a known problem. On the legacy kernel, setting CPU to 800 Mhz and RAM to 300 Mhz used to keep things cool. (e.g. "sudo h3consumption -m 800"). h3consumption doesn't exist on 4.14 kernels, so how do I underclock?

  24. Hi i did some comparison of NanoPi NEO Kernel 3.4 (Jessie) and kernel 4.4 (Stretch). - Looks like the temperature limit controlling of 4.4 is not working as good as 3.4 (on 4.4 Kernel the CPU reaches more than 85 °C!) - GPIO (wiringPi) has less performance (-4%) - SPI has better performance (10%) - CPU performance is ~6% better (nbench, maybe the newer compiler) - consumption is besser on Kernel 3.4, especially on halt state I did a fork for wiringpi Library to make it work on Armbian Jessie and Stretch https://github.com/mstroh76/WiringNP (so far only for NEO)

  25. Hi Srs! I have problem in using Armbian 14 with orange pi zero .. I already used the Armbian system in my OrangepiZero. However, I reinstalled everything again and downloaded the latest version of the operating system here on the site. When I try to use onboard audio (both capture and output) does not work. I have already enabled the analog-codec and it still does not work. Remembering that I already used the equipment with the Armbian and used the onboard capture of the board perfectly. Thanks!

  29. Hello, I'm having problems with USB sound card - speaker - card reader combo, named CD002 (hardware ID e2b0:0811). 30. Hello, My BananaPi board doesn't boot after apt update & apt upgrade. I didn't have any problems until now. 45. I must have missed the discussion about not having a desktop version for this board. Does anybody know why this option is not available? Now that I finally have the Bluetooth working, I can use it as a proper desktop. I have "simulated" a desktop build by following the Armbian build script... installing all the packages for xfce4, but it lacks some functionality (namely the notification icons). It would be really nice to have a proper Armbian desktop on this board. Thanks.

But how to install it on Opi Zero Plus2? Do I need to install it on SD card first and then go with nand-sata-install? Honestly, I would like to install it (the best) with USB or some other way, because I will need to install dozen of pieces and it is pretty time consuming to install if from SD ca…

  49. Things downloaded last week, When switching to alternative kernel is executed in Armbian Config, the screen set to 1280 x 1024 has been changed to 1280 x 720 and it was not able to be rewritten, so do not run the Switch to Alternative kernel and keep the 1280 x 1024 screen It is GQRX-SDR, since error-6 (even if blacklist maintenance is done) comes out, As a workaround, I ran Switch to the alternative kernel and avoided error-6. I am having some difficulty producing audio on an orangepi zero using the images listed here: https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-zero/ No matter what I do, I cannot get any audio devices to show up in /proc/asound/cards There are a number of posts on here that suggest that audio doesn't work on version 4.x kernels. Is this still the case? And if so, where can I download an armbian image that does support audio?

  53. Hello, I'm running rsync to backup a VPS to an USB hard drive on the neo2 and sometimes rsync just stops with "read error from input device (I/O error)". I believe this issue happens when rsync is causing high load in the USB disk, writing or removing a large number of files or trying to write a big file. Notes: The hard drive is on a self powered enclosure - so power failure is not really an option here I also have Apache and mariadb storing data on the USB disk and I never had this kind of I/O errors with it OS: Debian GNU/Linux 9.4 (stretch) Drive is ext4 Whenever rysnc stops I get this under /var/log/messages:…

  56. My Orange Pi PC running Armbian gets disconnected from both SSH and VNC after maybe 20 minutes or so out of nowhere, no matter if idle or doing anything. I can't connect back until I restart the entire SBC by keyboard. The pi is useless to me if I can't run it "headless". I'm wondering if it's a MAC problem. I have a pfSense router I built myself and have had different subnet addresses. I've made sure the MAC address isn't repeated on another subnet address, though. I know the Raspberry Pi has a way to change it, but does the OPi PC as well? The MAC "problem" is just a guess, though. I really don't know what's with the disconnection issues. I'm no …

  57. Hey guys, I've spent the last couple of weeks trying to get a TFT display with touch screen to work on my Orange Pi PC board, and I've decided to share my step-by-step solution here. This tutorial is heavily based on Guide: How to use Touchscreen + LCD on H3 devices by Kutysam, but I had to do some extra steps for it to work properly. This tutorial is only for Mainline kernel, I was able to get the graphical screen working with Kutysam's guide for Legacy, but couldn't make the touch work. First of all this is the display I'm using: LCD module Pi TFT 3.5 inch (320*480) Touchscreen Display Module TFT for Raspberry Pi 3. I believe it is a clone of this Waveshare…

Also, because I am trying to use the normal armbian system, instead of installing my own sunxi-next kernel. I've switched to nightly, but can't figure out how to edit my own changes to the dts's that are built to add add the extra mali node (not that I have any idea where the mali450 is on the H5!). 60. Hi, Good people of Armbian-land! First of all, thank you all for the awesome work you've been putting into Armbian. I recently purchased an Orange Pi PC, for which I'd like to use the Ubuntu desktop image, since I need the HW acceleration features. I tried using Mainline briefly but after confirming that the performance is just not there without the Mali drivers (as suggested by the description, so no surprise there), it seems Legacy is my only viable option. Which would be fine, but the monitor I'd like to use with my setup doesn't work with legacy (it works fine in Mainline). Also a sidenote: I connected the monitor using an HDMI-VGA converter. I set th…

Normally it won't boot because of some kernel misconfiguration or due the encrypted HDD that I use connected to it. On the last upgrade the same occurred. After a few kernel replacements, I could make it boot, kind of. If I have my encrypted LUKS HDD connected to it, it will boot to some degree and hang in there forever. If I take it …

  77. I can't get my Orange Pi working... After writing image to a SD card, the system boots up and the green LED lights up. Everything looks ok, until "Starting kernel..." line. After that the screen goes all black or displays artifacts. I tried different HDMI cables but still same issues. I've been trying with 5.25, 5.30, 5.35, 5.38 Ubuntu versions. I found out that the only way to get the system up and running was installing version 5.30, because the system boots with 720p mode. Other builds use 1080p mode. However when I "apt upgrade" the kernel, system boots with 1080p and the issue shows up again. Is there a way to "force" Armbian to use 720p mode by default?

After along time I downloaded a new armbian image, after doing apt update/upgrade for the last year or so. I was quite surprised to see that the pcduino3nano is now deprecated, while other A20 boards are still supported. What was the exact reason that the pcduino3nano was dropped from support? If I keep using the deprecated OS, can I fully use apt update/upgrade for all user stuff? What would happen to all kernel and u-boot update packages? Is the latest armbian for the pcduino3nano automatically disabling those updates, or do I need to do something manually? *should* I block kernel & u-boot updates? thanks, Udi

  90. Old post below, here is what I found out thanks to some help from linux-sunxi IRC, I think this is a bug in the ondemand governor When using ASIX AX88772B USB to ethernet adapter and the cpu-governor is on ondemand, transfer speed is very slow. If governor is set to conservative or performance (yes that's right) speed is ok, 50 Mbit at least. So the problem has nothing to do with cpu speed as such (it's working @ steady 480Mhz and @ steady 1200Mhz) for now I'll stick with conservative as I don't want my board to burn up, but It would be nice if someone could take a look at that ondemand governor. Installed Armbian_5.38_Orangepiplus_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. After a while, namely the clock after 5 work OrangePi Plus 2 disappears from the internal network. Do not pass the ping, connection to the SSH. But you can connect from the outside through the routed ports of the router to the SSH. Pings from it pass only to the router (192.168.0.1). Prior to other devices in the local network, pings also do not reach. This is when the internal network disappeared. Before its disappearance with pings and connections on the SSH, there are no problems. What could be the problem? armbianmonitor -u - http://ix.io/17Ni

Hi, Please see my comments in the other thread: Essentially when booting a Neo Core using the current air/core mainline image, the onboard fast ethernet is not being initialised. At a guess its because this is not included in the device tree (dtb/dts) for the nano pi air image or in uBoot config - however, if the image is to serve both boards it almost needs to - or they need to be separated. Both are probably reasonable options. Right now i'm trying to understand where the board defs for ethernet are collected during the image build using the armbian build environment and try and get a functional image with fast ethernet for the core…

It seems like all the OS available for the A64 (for me specifically the orangepi winplus) are using the 3.10 kernel that has reached the EOL. I have been advised against using this kernel but I don't see any other options. I did find and armbian for the winplus that used 4.11 but it crumbled after upgrade every time. Does anyone have any advice for me? Thanks

  97. Hi everyone, I have an armbian 5.38 headless system on an orange pi zero2plus board. Attached to this board there's the expansion usb board with a wifi dongle and another board connected to twi interface of the gpio header. I power supply the board from the same header with a 5V 5A power supply, I verified and I have no holes on 5V and 3.3V voltage. The external usb dongle is configured as AP with nmcli, the internal wifi board is configured as w-station and is hooked to my home network. On this system is running a python-flask-uwsgi "daemon" that I'm developing. Well, randomly my system hangs, I can't connect to my flask web page, I can't connec…

I have an orange pi light I loaded two sd, one 16GB and one 32GB with "Armbian_5.35_Orangepilite_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop.img" I can not see any mistakes in the console: https://pastebin.com/HXyeQkjr I tried various resolutions. Still, the screen remains red and nothing appears.

  99. Hi, my 1st post here. I have serial over OTG between Win10 PC and Zero working, fine as long as I use it for console login. (serial-getty@/dev/ttyGS0. If I stop the getty service, No usb/com port is opened @ PC side, when I plug it. I still see the /dev/ttyGS0 on the PI (stty -F/dev/ttyGS0) but apparently the device is not opened to the external world. I would expect that any send command to the device would open it, e.g. ls > /dev/ttyGS0, but nothing opens at the Win10 PC. What does getty do, so that the PC discovers the new usb serial connection and what do I have to do to achieve a device opening on the PC, not using getty on …

Hi, I'm using NetBIOS names when using ssh to access other CTs on my local network. Most of the CTs and other hosts are running Wheezy. Now I have a CT running Stretch and it's very difficult to access this host using 'ssh <stretch host name>' because it's not responding to the broadcas from the calling host. If I repeat the request (and broadcast for the name) multiple times then sooner or later the Stretch CT will respond in time. The timeout on the host doing the broadcast seems very short. Does anybody know where this timeout is specified and how to change it ? Thanks, Steven
