Hello, I'd like to disable the yellowish and green ethernet port LEDs on Orange Pi Zero. At night, it becomes quite shiny and is really disturbing. Any methods to do this on the software end? If not, I'm planning to apply some nail polish :-/ Thanks in advance,

Hello guys, apparently there is a new product in the orangepi lineup. It is the PC+ (PC Plus), which has 8gb EMMC and a Wifi chip onboard. The rest of the features seems to be the same as the plain OrangePI PC. The new SBC can't be found on the orangepi official site, but it is available on aliexpress: http://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/Orange-Pi-PC-Plus-ubuntu-linux-and-android-mini-PC-Beyond-Raspberry-Pi-2/1553371_32668618847.html

Hello! Can you help me: Orange Pi Zero 256 and 512 with power supply 2A hangs after try printing over usbip as server with CANON CAPT printer. I had checked on Armbian Ubuntu nightly kernel 4.10+ and Arch linux with kernel from distributors. On client I had try Ubuntu server 16.04 x64 with mainline kernel 4.10 and 17.04 i386 with distributor's kernel and CUPS. Can I local debug this situation? Or may be else how? That kind logs is needed for probably open bug in kernel? Or may test this situation between non-ARM system, but for what if specific ARM code may be exist? I downloaded and booted successfully from the Debian Jessie image available on http://www.armbian.com/olimex-lime-a10/ for the LIME. Now I'd like to install an image to NAND, but there's currently no 3.4 kernel version available for the A10. (I've also checked the mirror). I was wondering (before breaking my neck trying to build it) whether this was simply due to no image having been built yet, or due to some circumstances making it impossible to run a 3.4 on the LIME A10? Thanks

I've got a NanoPi Neo Core 2 and a NanoPi Neo Air. It bothered me that the USB OTG did not function in host mode. Turns out, the included Armbian .dtb's don't have the parts necessary to define the regulator which pushes power back to a client device when the board needs to run in OTG host mode. You can see the regulator on page 8 of the schematic http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/images/6/6b/NanoPi_NEO_Core2-V1.0_1707.pdf I found an upstream patch at https://patchwork.kernel.org/patch/9921097/ which defined the missing parts for a Neo Plus 2. I put the relevant parts into an overlay dts file (attached) that can be loaded wit…

Hi, I just bought an RTC module for my Banana Pi M2, but when scanning for i2c devices I noticed that there are no i2c device nodes in /dev using the latest Armbian version (5.15). Is there any way to get it working? Modprobing i2c-dev or any other modules I've found didn't help Thanks in advance!

hi, having power problems with the two usb ports of my pcduino3 nano, i checked the schematics and it appears the otg port is not powered by the USB_5V rail but directly from the VCC_5V input rail, so i was hoping it would solve my problem. Unfortunately it seems the port acts as an OTG port by default and i can't find a way to restore the otg host mode as advertised in the vanilla kernel features. The documentation only details how to use various OTG modes but not how to revert it back to host. I'm using xenial vanilla image. thank you.

Hi guys! I am making a separated network to connect my OPi3 to my old notebook to run some codes of my research. So, the problems is with ethernet connector in Orange Pi 3 that when I connect the cable from OPi3 to my switch LEDs just flash slow and in big intervals. When I try to ping from OPi3 to computer the ping just happens after big time later. I verify the cable and the switch with other devices (my personal notebook and my notebook from work). Everything is ok and running well. One thing blow my mind: when I connect cable from OPi3 directly to my notebook the LEDs of ethernet of OPi3 works normally but in the armbian the networks not alway…

I have few of i2c devices that was successfully tested working with RPi Zero W (Tiny RTC, BME280), but no one is visible to NanoPi Neo Air board with Armbian. Just a quick question due to having just updated and rebooted my Cubietruck.... I was running 5.38 mainline Stretch, but I see that armbian-firmware 5.45 was installed over 5.38... so shouldn't the welcome screen now be saying "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.45" instead of "Welcome to ARMBIAN 5.38" still? Or is that package not the one that determines the Armbian 'version'? Maybe a better question would be what would update /etc/armbian-release ? The update process was otherwise smooth and doesn't seem to have rise to any nasty surprises . I also look forward to trying out the pineH64 image since I see that has just made a big jump, as well as th…

Hi, I am trying to write my own kernel module/drive for the NanoPi air, running a self-compiled version of armbian 5.83. Actually I only added the PREEMTION option to get real-time behavior when reading/writing from IO pins. I started using the "hello world" template from here. To get the module compiled I had to build the headers for my kernel as well using the option INSTALL_HEADERS in the armbian-build config file. The build debian-package called "linux-headers-next-sunxi_5.83_armhf.deb" was copied and installed on the NanoPi. OK, so now compiling (on the NanoPi - so no cross-compilation) works like a charm: > make make -C /lib/modules/4.…

Hi there, I want to migrate system on OPi PC+ from 32GB uSD card to 16GB card. System is small enough to fit on 16GB, but too large for 8GB eMMC (amazingly fast according dd). How to do it? My idea is: - copy (raw, using dd) first 8192 sectors from 32GB to 16GB, - then remove partition (32GB) and recreate it with 16GB size, format using same EXT filesystem, - copy (on another computer, or "simple" Armbian installed on eMMC) partition contents using rsync. Will it work? Will there be no issue with different UUID of new partition?

Hi all, I'm working with a BPI-P2 board. I installed the last Armbian version for BPI-M2 as the two boards are basically the same except the RJ45 connector and the eMMC. I installed it on an SD card, and everythig worked perfectly. Now I need to put the OS on the eMMC and then completely remove the SD card, but I'm struggling. The default Armbian for BPI-M2 is not intended to support eMMC, so I'm not surprised that with this version the eMMC dosn't show up. So I tried to modify the dtb and enable the eMMC nodes, and then reboot. Here the changes I made: mmc@1c10000 { reg = < 0x1c10…

Hello, After looking on the forum and on the internet I am turning to you. Here is my problem: armbian is currently running on an SD card and I would like to put it on the eMMC memory of my orange Pi 3 (8gb). When I run the sudo nand-sata-install script it offers me to install eMMc on my memory but tells me that the partition is too small. 8go seems largely sufficient to install armbian. You should know that this orange Pi already contains linux firmware in its internal memory. I figured this was due to the fact that maybe this version of armbian didn't support emmc memory, so I tried with the focal version, the buster version and the bionic version…

Hello, I'm a lay user, I don't know much about Armbian and networks - On my network I have a router whose default DNS is set to point to an OrangePI 3 lts with Armbian 23.02, where I installed AdGuard (v0.107.52) and created my rules to filter advertisements through URLs that I access through the web browser of any device. It works almost 100% as I would like - I use a NO-IP DDNS on the router to access the surveillance DVR and I can see the cameras fine on my smartphone. On my orangepi pc (legacy kernel) I'm trying to using separately the left and right channel as two separate sound cards (to be used by two different programs). I have a working asoundrc for that, but the problem is that the left channel leaks into the right one and viceversa. They also do the same on my laptop, but there it's hardly noticeable. It's not a matter of my asounrc, I confirmed it also with speaker-test. I suppose it's a hardware issue, right? BTW the right and left channel are inverted (and that could be a driver issue). This is the my asoundrc, the !default line is because one of the two programs is linphone and I couldn't find a…

Hi, I have the following issue: I installed Armbian 4.3 Debian (wheezy) 3.4.108 for Micro. My device is A20-Olimex-Olinuxino Micro with nand. I installed it to boot from NAND and store the rootfs on SATA /dev/sda1. When I powered it up with HDMI connected to the TV and micro sdcard plugged in, I see the red armbian logo shows up, but then display turns off and nothing. If I login with ssh I see that /boot is mounted to NAND and rootfs is indeed in /dev/sda1. If I boot without micro sdcard plugged I don't see any display output on the TV, but still the device boots up and the mounts seems the same, /boot on /dev/nand1 and /dev/sda1 is the rootfs. I have a NanoPi Neo and I'm currently looking to find out if the I2S pins can be set up as basic GPIOs? I can't find their names, (i.e. PA17) so not sure where to even begin with regards to tinkering the kernel. Any help appreciated! http://wiki.friendlyarm.com/wiki/images/c/c4/NEO_pinout-02.jpg

Hi all After update kernel from 5.10.60 to 5.15 or 5.16 on my Orange PI PC+ MJPEG-Streamer throws: motion throws: I tried to decrease resolution - even 320x240 not helps. Rolling back to 5.10.60 helps, but it's not very sustainable solution. Are there any known solution for 5.15-5.16?

Hi, I installed armbian onto eMMC. Frankly, I expected better results. Please anybody confirm what I understood. 1. The sequence reading speed is 70MBytes/s. 2. The sequence writing speed is 10MBytes/s. 3. eMMC is not optimized for random operations. 4. When writing operation is performed, the system gets VERY SLOW to respond. And the couple of questions. 1. What utility and where to get to benchmark disks well? 2. Will USB SSD perform with better performance than eMCC? Thanks a lot in advance and hope to see this in the FAQ. Dmitry

Hi @ertugrul and @afaulkner420. I was trying to create a bootable drive for the orangepi 3 lts and it always fails in validation in balenaEtcher. I tried even with that and it does not seems to work. Board: NanoPi NEO Air SoC: Allwinner H3 (sun8i platform) Armbian Release: Bookworm (Debian 12 base) - Tested with both beta and stable repositories. Problem Description: The SPI device node (/dev/spidev0.0) does not get created on Armbian Bookworm for the NanoPi NEO Air, preventing the use of SPI peripherals. This issue occurs despite correctly enabling the sun8i-h3-spi-spidev overlay in /boot/armbianEnv.txt. Diagnosis / Root Cause: Through troubleshooting, it was determined that the essential kernel module required for the Allwinner SPI controller, spi-sunxi.ko, is missing from the standard kernel image packages provided by Armbian for Boo…

I installed Armbian onto a reliable 16GB class 10 SD card, put it into an Orange Pi 3 with a 5v 3000 mA power supply (not a phone charger) and I've bumped into this error.. ALERT! /dev/mmcblk0p1 does not exist. Dropping to a shell! The armbianmonitor -u command was not found so I had to take a photo of the computer screen. I'm not sure what is going on here and I couldn't find someone who had this error on an Orange Pi 3 before. If anyone has some advice I'd love to hear it.

Hi There, I hope I posted this in the correct forum. We run a lot of distros on a given "disk" or "sdcard" (or whatever). We call our system "Boot-Crazy". Here goes: The partition starts with a small boot partition containing the initial boot parameters, configuration, and a pointer to the partition holding the root file system we want to boot. The boot partition is followed by some number of other partitions, like this: [bOOT]-[sWAP]-[COMMON]-[COPYOF-DISTO-1-BOOT]-[DISTO-1-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]-[COPYOF-DISTO-2-BOOT]-[DISTO-2-ROOT-FILE-SYSTEM]... Armbian (as downloaded for the BananaPi-M2) is simply one large partition, like this: [armbia…

Hi, I have a problem to comunicate with sim800l via UART3 or any other UART. Is there way to activate UART3 on Linux PiOne 4.14.18-sunxi kernel if it is not already activated. I could find DTB files but I do not know how to view them or transfer to DTS and read/modify them to se if there could be a problem. I'm using pins 8 and 10 for UART3 on 40Pin header and try to comunicate with putty and screen over /dev/ttyS3 but no luck. Any idea what is going on? Sim800L works fine over pl2303.

Greetings, I've got 2 M1 boards in front of me. The FA is running their latest distribution: http://www.mediafire.com/file/kc44mm1mdahslho/nanopi-m1_debian-jessie_4.11.2_20170905.img.zip By default the device tree for the FA has the USB controller (usb@01c19000) marked as disabled and is missing the dr_mode = "OTG" attribute. Enable the controller and Add the dr_node property and the board comes up as a mass storage device in both Windows and Linux. The board running Armbian has exactly the same device tree entries, dmesg shows the USB controller is loaded and visible with lsusb -t. When a gadget module is loaded all appears to work on…

I recently got an Orange Pi Zero 3W, and I noticed that the official Ubuntu image is still based on the sunxi BSP stack, using the sun60iw2-6.6.98 kernel, while the bootloader is also using an older version of U-Boot. Right now, I’m wondering whether it would be feasible to use AI agents to help compile an Armbian image for the Orange Pi Zero 3W with a mainline kernel, while still keeping the old vendor U-Boot for compatibility. Has anyone here experimented with a similar approach or have any good suggestions or ideas? I also really hope the official team can eventually provide a proper Armbian image for the Orange Pi Zero 3W, because I’ve run into quite a few i…

Hi all, I've one minor issue with my Lamobo R1. I've to set the coherent_pool to > 256KiB to get my USB DVB device working. But every time I set the coherent_pool to e.g. 2M and regenerate the boot.scr the device gets in an endless boot loop (starting uboot - starting kernel - changes resolution and starts to load drivers - but then crashes with graphic errors and starts all over again). Is there something I can do against this? My goal is to run an 10.1 LVDS Display with silent boot and CAN-Bus on an BananaPi Pro. The SoC Allwinner A20 seems to support this, the board has an connector for this kind of Display. After flashing an SD with the image for BananaPi Pro and successfully booting from it, I read the Armbian Documentation. I'm on the Olimex Teres running the newish Armbian Ubuntu 20.04 and I'm having a lot of trouble with the system intermittently freezing or slowing. Kernel 5.4.43 . I have a video of the issue and an image of the drive. The system isn't online to sync clock and dates may be skewed by some days. My usual routine is to boot the system into multi-user, run asciinema, run tmux, and then edit files with vim inside both. The issue starts after a bit. CPU and I/O usage stay low during the delays in responsiveness. Sorry if I am kinda irritated and frustrated in the video. I've been dealing with a lot of issues. So far I'm quite happy having Wifi running. Though there are a few questions left. - I chose vanilla as i'm going to use the cubietruck headless and don't need video accel. It will be part of a 3d printer. Do I have any chance to get NAND support running? I guess not so I wonder if it's a good idea to keep running from a micro sd card or will I run into problems? I don't need really big I/O Action so performance wise I should be okay. - I see some brcmfmac error …

I've been away from armbian for a few months and came back to build a new project with my orange pi one but the nightly/recent mainlines builds seem to have stopped. I need a mainline kernel, and can grab one that's a few months old, but I wanted to be sure they haven't been moved. I'm not complaining! Just asking. With the number of boards available with armbian there has to be a lot of overhead doing nightly builds with few users, so it's not too surprising to see a change. I looked thru the sticky notes, but could not find a relevant post. Thanks!

Hello, My BananaPi board doesn't boot after apt update & apt upgrade. I didn't have any problems until now. At first I suspected it could be the SD card as it seemed to me the "server" was slower on authentication but the SD card looks ok. There were some errors when reading it via gdisk but f3 didn't find any problems. So I copied the newest downloadable image onto it. It worked again until the upgrade. What can I do to restore the functionality? Is there any known problem with last upgrade?I update the system quite usually so the change that could be responsible for this shouldn't be more than a month old. I even tried to use the direct attach…

I've upgraded to 5.20 from 5.17 and I've had to modify my /boot/bin/micro.bin to activate the VGA output. After Upgraded the board didn't reactivate the VGA, and I've to do it manually. Maybe some warning in the changelog will be an help to those have to do such modifications. The upgrade process copied the bin dir to bin.old. I have to apply "sudo apt-get upgrade" twice as the first run complain about come conflicting files and abort the upgrade, the second run did the job. I'm running legacy debian Jessie image and upgraded from 5.17 to 5.20. Now it seem to work well.

updated to 5.15 (then 5.16) release using aptitude. Kernel update worked. But when I updated u-boot ( linux-u-boot-orangepiplus2e-default ) , the system will no longer boot (see attached). But if I use linux-u-boot-orangepiplus-default , it will boot. (Note that the install script, to write/dd SPL , is hardcoded to mmcblk0, which is usually correct, but for this fix, I start boot on SDHC then pivot-root to eMMC. My running root is mmcblk1 during this "rescue" boot). Both 5.15 & 5.16 exhibit this behavior. Thanks, wha bad-uboot.txt

Hi guys, I was running my Orange Pi Zero Plus perfectly on the dev channel but I did an apt upgrade the other day and it seems to have broken something. I hooked it up to a usb serial device and here's the log: https://pastebin.com/jiB9TZdh Any ideas on how I can fix this? I can interrupt the boot process and I get to a screen where I can run limited commands but I'm not sure what to do at that point. I'm thinking it might be easier to just reflash and start again. This post is mainly for the devs to let them know there might be an issue with one of the kernels? Cheers.

Hi, is the image for the M1 and Pro the same? Because after downloading, the file name is "Armbian_5.04_Bananapipro_Debian_jessie_4.4.3". On the download page for M1 and Pro the download links point to the same file. Looking at http://mirror.igorpecovnik.com/i see only 5.00 for the M1. Another question i have: After the login i see 12 updates and i should run APT. Since years I'm using aptitude since it is the preferred and newer program for Debian. So the question is if i can safely use aptitude? Or is there something pre-installed and i mix up the package management. I will never understand why every tutorial on the web is using APT.

Hi all, I was struggling to have a stable Wifi connection on my new Orange Pi Primes, and believe I found a solution, so I thought it's nice to share it Symptoms: Wifi would connect right after reboot, but would disappear if Orange Pi Prime was idle for about 30min. I didn't liked either of the options, so I decided to investigate. My log was full of: [89201.577208] RTL8723BS: nolinked power save enter [89201.967063] IPv6: ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): wlan0: link is n…

I upgraded a cubieboard2 to kernel 5.11 and noticed that I have one core online and one core offline. Can someone confirm that?

Hi. I'm using Cubietruck, and installed Ubuntu server(mainline) on it. Suddenly, I can't write to disk(SD card). Actually, yes I can. I could create, edit, or even delete files, but all the changes are gone after the Cubietruck is rebooted. The deleted files are back, and created files are gone. What should I check? My SD card is Samsung Evo 16GB, and I'm running Cubietruck for more than 2 years. I have never encountered this weird situation.
