  1. To replace my dead home server (which was just a dead laptop anyway), I picked up an Orange Pi PC for cheap locally. After solving power supply issues, I tested GUI and media performance on the board, with an aim to perhaps use the composite out for emulation, before concluding that this wasn't the best choice for the board. (That, and it'd kill my performance for the more useful server aspects.) While technically impressive, it wasn't really worth it when my PC is right there for me to use to play those video files I would on the board. Looking into the matter, it seems the ideal solution for a file server would be to install the Mainline kernel to benefit fr…

  2. Hello, My Opi+2 somehow blocks internet when i turn it on. Even though it is not connected on ethernet port. Then i disabled wifi. Everything seemed fine at first, but as because of i need internet and the wifi is disabled, i had to use ethernet port. When i plug ethernet cable to the opi+2, the modem's internet connection drops. I don't have any ideas about why it is happening. 3. I have Orange PI Zero running the stable Ubuntu image. Kernel: Linux orangepizero 3.4.113-sun8i. I'm writing a python3 app to communicate with an Arduino using UART. The app works fine for a few hours and then it stops being able to send or receive commands to/from the Arduino. Is there some known issue with the UART on OPI Zero? It looks like the file descriptor for the serial port becomes unavailable somehow.

i've built and started testing stretch ... it mostly looks pretty good with these issues found so far lircd - goes wild. systemd goes to 100% cpu it need to be blacklisted or the like. stopping/disabling it didnt work. i need to remove it to stop the cpu usage problem https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=860551 install python-wheel as default package as pip breaks without it eth0 has gone but seems to be a known issue https://irclog.whitequark.org/linux-sunxi/2017-09-19 and I see that hdmi has made progress (by smaeul) https://irclog.whitequark.org/linux-sunxi/2017-09-26

  7. I'm interested in having an Orange Pi act as a VNC host to various platforms having the ethernet running over the OTG cable. To that end I've been testing the Armbian Debian_stretch_next desktop image with the 4.x kernel (dated 5.34.171129 nightly build) on my Orange Pi Pc+. I placed g_ether in the /etc/modules and configured it with the module parameter options g_ether use_eem=1 in my g_ether.conf file in /etc/modprobe.d and allow-hotplug usb0 iface usb0 inet static address 169.254.1.1 netmask 255.255.0.0 in my /etc/network/interfaces file. 8. I have Orange PI PC Plus with GC2035 camera module. Upgraded to 4.13.6 sunxi-next mainline kernel and noticed that GC2035 camera driver is gone! Why is it so? Maybe someone forgot to include this driver to the kernel? People are still using these cameras and need them! If it was a conscious decision to remove the GC2035 camera from the sunxi-next tree - then, well, it was a horrible decision that should be reversed. Please return this driver. https://github.com/avafinger/gc2035 Earlier it was at ./drivers/media/video/sunxi-vfe/device/gc2035.c location, but now the directory structure could be very different...

Hello again. I am beating my head against the network configuration again and would dearly love some help. I have two orange pi pc boards with static ip's in the 192.168.1. range. They are only connected to each other. They can ping and ssh each other just fine. I am trying to set up nfs shares between them without success. In /etc/exports I have: /home/martin/folder 192.168.1.*(rw,sync,no_subtree_check,nohide) I have "ALL: 192.168.1." in my /etc/hosts.allow. Hi I own since a while an Orange Pi One Plus board that I have been unable to use till now (OS images supplied by manufacturer are just a joke !). I wanted to give it a test with ARMBian as you offer now some Beta images. As both Bionic and Stretcher are offered, is there one of them more stable or more near something finished ? Did someone have tried the board with one of these ? and did it work ? Thanks Vincèn

After I erased EMMC, I started to get this boot screen. https://photos.app.goo.gl/EbJX43eSATyqTEau8 If I insert a sd card in with the latest Armbian, I get no boot screen, or activity at all. In fact, even if I format the card, and insert it into the OP+ it gets no boot activity. It is only after that I remove the card that it can then boot from usb flash. 14. Thanks for providing the new Buster image (5.4.7) for Orange Pi One Plus. All the essential stuff works well, giving me new software possibilities. As a technical feedback, I'd just like to mention 1) the red light keeps shining (instead of turning green, but Armbian runs very well, anyway) 2) an attached monitor doesn't receive any signals (but I prefer SSH anyway) 3) the console keyboard layout wouldn't accept any changes (but using SSH, that doesn't make any difference now). Everything else in armbian-config worked fine. Great tool!

  17. Hi, We've built a network experimentation system using NanoPi R1 modules, but when load testing the system with iperf3, we are seeing the on-board RTL8152 interface enter a state where it does not seem to be responding until the board is power cycled. The system consists of 32 NanoPi modules connected in a torus, with the 1Gig interface connected to its neighbour's 100Mbit interface. An additional USB Ethernet dongle functions as a control interface. The modules are powered from a Ubiquiti PoE switch, using this type of isolated PoE splitter. Eyeballing the switch UI, power consumption per node seems to hover between 2.3W-3.5W, depending on load. W…

  18. Hi there, I have configured (successfully with NetworkManager GUI, or TUI, it was quite ago, can see it in /etc/NetworkManager/system-connections/ ) my OPi3 as an WiFi AP. 28. Hi Everyone. I expect I'm making a simple mistake here, but I'm pretty new to this and could use some help. I am trying to set a static ip address on an orange pi pc running armbian Jessie 5.36. I want a static ip to set up an nfs between multiple boards. Hello! I have a Zero2 board with 1GB of RAM. I compiled a Debian 12 desktop image for Zero2 using Armbian and I want to play online videos through a web browser. Unfortunately, the results have been disappointing as the performance for 1080p videos is very slow. I tried using swap, but it didn't help. I also attempted to play 1080p videos using MPV and VLC. MPV can still play the videos, but it feels sluggish, and VLC gets stuck on the screen until the playback is finished. I would like to know how to configure Zero2 on Linux to achieve video acceleration. I'm new to this, so I would appreciate some guidance. Thank you!

  38. Recently I tried to connect CAN bus adapter to my Orange Pi 3 LTS board and it happened that there is not so much information about it, it is outdated or related to other boards. So, after I spent a few days in trials and errors below is my recipe. 1. Connect a CAN interface board. Orange Pi pins are not 5V tolerant, so I decided to use a dedicated 2-channel board from Waveshare: https://www.waveshare.com/2-ch-can-hat.htm (only one channel for the start). You can modify a cheap board from AliExpress though; there are instructions in the Internet. I used the PL10 pin of Orange Pi 3 LTS board as INT pin. 43. the entry in /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/cpuinfo_cur_freq (maybe the path is wrong, I haven't the machine and I'm going by memory) is readable only by root so it is not usable to a normal user to display the current frequency of the processor, There is a way to change this behaviour? My distribution is for Olimex-A20-Micro with legacy kernel 5.14 if i don't go wrong. TIA and regards

Hello every one, My first post here i'll try to be clear but english is not my mother langage. I bought a couple of opi zero with usb expansion board and a case. I needed small devices able to run a linux daemon and control a bluetooth LE device. They are used as antennas in a bluetooth mesh network. The orange pi zero seemed to be a good choice. I first installed the opizero with armbian 5.24 debian version. Unfortunately I was unable to use bluepy lib. It was the same with the xenial version. Another user of the bluetooth advertisement plugin told me to use last firmware (5.25) and upgrade to 4.x kernel. I was then able to use bluepy lib. I moved the opi zeros …

Hi, I have Cubietrauck and I installed legacy Jessie on SD card and after configuration hostapd for using it as access point only 5 devices were able to connect to my device. After search I’ve added max_num_sta=20 but it didn’t solve my problem. I tried to use other distribution like vanilla Jessie and vanilla trusty server but I had same problem. Here is my hostapd configuration: How can I change max devices connection? Is this problem relate to the wifi module and how can I fix it?

  98. The orange pi zero has a USB OTG interface, which can be used to interact with it in the absence of networks and spare USB-UART converters. This is not enabled by default in the Armbian image. Here I describe how to modify the system image before first boot to enable this. First, mount the freshly written SD card on a linux computer, become root, and change directory to the mount point, that is, the root directory of the SD card. The following couple of steps were taken from https://oshlab.com/enable-g_serial-usb-otg-console-orange-pi-armbian/which describes how to enable this in a live system, i.e. after first boot. The steps are modified to work on the moun…
