When I login on the console, there is this display with a bunch of information, including the CPU temp. I have need to keep track of my CPU's temp, since it seems to be overheating (I have a heat sink on it, but does not seem to be enough -- I have a fan on order). I want to be able to check the temp from time to time, so I would like to run at least the part of the login banner program. What program is that? I am not seeing anything obvious in /bin.

Hi, I have a question about distro upgrde. This is the information on welcome screen: Packages: Ubuntu stable (jammy), possible distro upgrade (noble) Support: DIY (community maintained) I checked the release info on https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-plus-2e/ and the noble is available. I used sudo apt dist-upgrade and it found no upgrade. Is there any wrong with that? And how I can do the dist-upgrade except writing a new image?

I just installed 4.2.3-sunxi on my Banana Pi (original model.) Everything seems to work nicely except the console mouse (gpm.) I run keyboard and mouse on a "GreenAsia Inc. USB to PS/2 Adapter" and have never had a problem with that setup, including Raspberry Pi and Bananian on the BPi. Both keyboard and mouse work under X but on the console only the keyboard works. I am using the latest Armbian image on OPI+. I had a requirement to read a 64Gb USB flash formatted under Windows with the extFat filesystem. Much to my surprise it didn't mount. I thought it was a hardware problem 1st. But then it appeared, that mount doesn't support the the extFat filesystem by default. It is necessary to add the extra packages, but I didn't succeed: root@orangepiplus:/# apt-get install exfat-fuse exfat-utils Reading package lists... Hello, Is there any way to programmatically interact with HDMI on Banana Pi/Pro? Ideally I would like the following: Learn the current state of the HDMI monitor (and/or receive notifications): not connected, connected and turned off (in standby), connected and turned on. Turn off the HDMI monitor (put to standby). Turn on the HDMI monitor (exit standby). Thank you in advance!

Hi, Seen some posts where mentioning that depending of the version of kernel there is either FEX or DTS usage, old ones called Legacy, using FEX to define GPIOs and Peripherals pins. Wit Mainline Kernel, is using DTS. Yet in the recent kernel (dev) armbian builds, eg armbian 5.21, kernel 4.7.6 (on H3, NEO), seen the /boot containing all the FEX stuff script.bin etc. Is FEX still used in the mainline kernel builds? I'm trying to build an A2DP server from either OPi Lite or Zero (whichever seems easier). As neither board has BT built-in I'm planning on using some cheap USB BT dongle. Web stores are filled with dongles, but info about their compatibility with Linux (and especially Armbian's legacy kernel) is not that readily available. Has anyone found a dongle that "just works" with OPi Lite or Zero? If yes, care to share e.g. Ali Express link or similar?

Hello, first of all many thanks to all the community that keeps this project alive. I recently bought a NanoPi NEO2 board and of course decided to drop the OS provided by Friendlyarm and give a try to Armbian's Ubuntu build for this board. Everything seems to work just fine, however I'm unable to get a reading on the CPU Frequency. I tried multiple tools and commands but somehow all end up with something like "cpuinfo_cur_freq: No such file or directory. For instance, here is the output of armbianmonitor: armbianmonitor -m Stop monitoring using [ctrl]-[c] Time CPU load %cpu %sys %usr %nice %io %irq CPU/usr/bin/armb…

Hi all ! I try to turn off ethernet leds on Nano Pi Neo. I don't use network-manager (which disables leds when ethernet cable is disconnected) because I need to use ifup and ifdown... I tried to see (without success) : cd /sys/class/leds cd /sys/class/net/eth0/ h3consumption -e off I know that it's possible on banapi (with a github library), is it possible on nano pi neo ? Hi guys! I have a problem with Orange Pi 3. After a night leaving the small board turned on I reboot the board and try to use a Bluetooth connector it shutdown. Again and again the same problem. When I touched the board it was so hot. Even when I use outside the case the board can't support a process for at least 30 minutes without turning off. I got the outputs of dmesg. As I don't know, I am a replay newbie, I ask for help here. Best regards. Paulo

Has anyone had any success with running a current/semi current OS and the NAS/RTC Enclosure/Hat from FriendlyElec. I was never impressed with the NAS/OpenMediaVault image that shipped with the board/hat. I have attempted to strip OMV out of the device and move the device forward with some success. The the Kernel is stuck at v4.14.52. But I would prefer to load a clean current OS and potentially use the correct overlays to enable the extra USB Ports, USB to SATA Bridge and RTC features. Question is does anyone have any information/guide to use a current version of Armbian/Community and the correct overlay file(s) to allow the the JMicron USB to SATA interface and …

Hi there, I've been trying for a few hours now to get the GPIOs working with the mainline kernel (ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 4.5.2-sunxi). According to the board layout photo, I am using PG0, PG1, PG2 and PG3. With the legacy kernel, they export as GPIO1-PG0 a.s.o. accordingly and work perfectly. So I calculate the GPIO pin number: G is 7th letter, 7 - 1 is 6, 6 * 32 is 192. GPIO192 exports fine, I can set it to output, change the value to 1 but there's no voltage! Can anyone help me, please?

Hi, I receive 16 bytes every 0.5 seconds. This should be saved as text or as MySQL table data. Need to compare with all existing records , process and display it on 3.5 inch TFT LCD on SPI ( Notro fbtft ) and also save to SD Card . It should be broadcasted to a fixed Ip using TCPIP. Can I use Orange Pi Zero with 512MB Ram ? Can I partition Ram as RAMFS OR TMPFS to do all read only tasks thus save time for slow SD CARD writes ? Can I first copy boot files and my app, tables to Ram and start from Ram ? Any suggestions ? Thanks

Hi, I used to run a RPi3 as a VPN and DNS-Server (PiHole) and it worked like a charm. Since the RPI3 is a bit oversized for this work I bought a NanoPi Neo 512MB and installed armbian Ubuntu 4.9.x, but I have some issues with it: - eth0 is only connected by 100/half duplex. I can set it manually to full duplex with autoneg off, but after a few secondes it falls back to 10(!) half duplex. with autoneg on it comes back to 100 half duplex (the amber led is off; cable and switch are ok) - the MAC-Adress is changing every reboot. I have to fix it manually - I can set up Pihole to use the Nanopi as a DNS-Server and it works well in the LAN, until I connect over openVP…

I was wondering if I could have automount feature for every UFD or USB Hard Drives to the /media folder. As i've investigated it, it would only mount if I get to click its icon on the desktop. I'm running bananapi as my headless file/media/print server. Is there anything that I could do instead of adding it to fstab and manually restarting or manually mounting it every time I connect a media to my Banana Pi server? …

The Luma library allows you to display text, graphics, animation, etc. on multiple display types. Here I will describe the easiest one to configure which is Luma.OLED and the I2C version of the SSD1306. You can find these displays on EBay and Amazon for less than $10 US each (you can get them for less than $3 US if you order from China, but it might not show up). I've configured Luma on many SBCs and it's my go to library if I need a small display for projects. Requirements NanoPi Duo (I used V1.0 board with 512 MB RAM) flashed with Armbian image. This will work with or without the mini shield. Small nylon nuts, bolts and standoffs if y…

Hello. this is my first post. I was looking through the forum but I did not find a similar problem. About power supply - until now I did not have any problems, I use a computer power supply. Just FYI: Orange Pi Plus 2E is now available for $35 and shipping costs remain the same (pretty low compared to some competitors): http://aliexpress.com/store/product/Orange-Pi-Plus-2-E-H3-Quad-Core-1-6GHZ-2GB-RAM-4K-Open-source-development/1553371_32665196281.html Please remember that this board was designed based on community requests (dropping the slow GL830 USB-to-SATA bridge and the internal USB hub and exposing all 4 USB ports physically to the outside) and should make up for a really nice server with 2 GB DRAM, Gbit Ethernet and 4 USB ports (3 real hosts ports and one Micro OTG). So now we have the following H3 boards with Gigabit Ethernet: Banana …

Hello everyone, I've recently bought an OrangePI PC Plus with an intentions to make it (beside others) a multimedia center. Because of community and pretty good status of armbian on h3, I've downloaded and installed (a.k.a copied to sd) the latest armbian I found (5.20 with kernel 3.4.112). Everything went ok, I've got graphical desktop, hw accelerated h264 and h265 over hdmi to my tv. So the next step was to install kodi. An that's the point where my troubles started. After I installed kodi and probably updated the whole armbian (apt update && apt upgrade && apt dist-upgrade), I noticed that my TV turns off almost immediately I turn it on to h…

So I have a question... I'd like to manage Li-Ion battery operation on SBCs using the AXP209 power management chip (especially the Banana Pro, as that's what I have...) I soldered a connector to the battery terminals on my BPro for portable operation, and it would be nice to have some kind of solution to raise an alert at low battery charge (like via the onboard LEDs), and automatically call system shutdown at a certain level. Googling has shown that the AXP209 has an i2c interface for sensors, and there are a few scripts for reading battery status here: http://hardware-libre.fr/2014/11/banana-pi-axp209-battery-power-monitoring/ My current plan is to pro…

After trying the ESP32, CHIP and CHIP PRO, I now have the OPI Zero+2 H5 and after much research (the Armbian forums) and testing, was unable to get USB OTG and Bluetooth working. I'm particularly interested in Bluetooth Low Energy and WIFI. WIFI worked great, simply using nmtui, worked first time. Thanks for solving the AP6212A WIFI firmware issues. However, do I understand correctly the USB OTG (I want to connect the OPI Z+2H5 micro USB to a USB hub to connect a mouse and keyboard) is not working yet? Similarly, is the AP6212A bluetooth driver/firmware being worked on at the moment? In addition, I'm waiting for some cameras to be delivered, my next project being the CSI …

Hi all, I have an application running on an orange pi pc plus 2 over the emmc 8gb memory. Everything is in there (os, db sw) and what it does is acquiring data from some sensors and then pushing it over mqtt to a server. Now, due to frequent internet connection issues, the board is able to store up to ~ 1 month of data in a local db but this means quite a lot of writes per seconds (plus all the logs). I would like to have an idea of how much the emmc can keep up with this rates and thus I am trying to understand how to calculate the life span in years (hopefully nothing less). Can anyone help me on how to do that? I am using right …

Hello all. Okay: I am a total newbie to Orange Pi. I apologize upfront for any and all obvious self inflicted mistakes that you all spot. AGAIN: total newbie to the Orange Pi world. Please go easy in me! I have an Orange Pi Win Plus A64 board and frankly --- I love the darn thing! Powerful for my needs and I have a niche application that I am working on and this board is really the only one that fits my needs. The 2GB RAM is a must. The issue I am having is this: I am usinga waveshare 10.1 inch TFT HDMI display that has the SPI connector (lcd: https://www.waveshare.com/wiki/10.1inch_HDMI_LCD). I have att…

I started compiling some project (snowboy ) on the nanopiDuo2 like I am doing on the FriendlyCore 16.04 and suddenly the board stop working/booting. The red led is blinking fast, the same sd card is working on different boards, FriendlyCore does not boot on this board. "provide a log from serial console" I don't have serial cable yet. This happened to me twice, on Armbian 18.04 and on 20.04. First it destroyed the "IoT-2G Application Carrier Board for NanoPi Duo2" that it was on without the board, and the carrier had burnt smell, internet cable and power were connected. Hi there! I just received three decommissioned BananaPI M1+ from a company and I'm trying to install the latest version of Armbian Buster available on them. Once I flash the image to the SD card (tested and working fine), however, the board goes into boot loop as per the video. The only error that seems to be displayed is "EHCI failed to shut down host controller". If it can be useful to find the cause, I point out that the problem occurs with both Armbian Buster and Armbian Focal regardless of the presence of the "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-bananapi-m1-plus.dtb" line in the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file. What do you think I could do to solve it? Thank you all in advance.

Hello fellow Sunxi forum members, Some may know me from previous Armbian adventures, primarily Orange Pi Zero 3... but I have jumped brands for a change of scenery (but not SoC). When researching H61X based boards for the Zero 2 and Zero 3 development we were doing in another thread, I found the Sipeed LonganPi 3H, which is a relatively new board that took a while to find. My first impressions are that is really well made, and packs a lot in to the Raspberry Pi Zero style profile (although it also has a daughter board). It was shipped quickly in a nice quality hard plastic storage case and.. best of all.. it has two hardware buttons.. so I can rese…

the nand-sata-install always proposes the sda1 as a destination. this did not fit what i needed. i have had success by editing the file and replace all sda1 with sdxx (whatever i need) and then it works (the information gives the wrong size in the initial screen). i looked into the code (but i do not understand bash programming): it seems that sda1 is hardwired despite the intention to find all possible destinations and to offer them. it is a useful utility, as it does several things at once (copy stuff, change fstab) which are otherwise separate coordinated steps. thank you for the utily! andrew install into nand did the correct copying, but did not …

I have no other keyboard, so cubie is useless for me... I have tried different images and versions, allways the same error...

Ref : Olinuxino LIME2 4G with new 3.4.112 kernel When installing to NAND, on the console I see a lot of : PHY_PageRead : too much ecc err, bank 0 block 276,page 4 PHY_PageRead : too much ecc err, bank 0 block 276,page 18 and so on ... Sometimes the installation succeeded, sometimes not, but the system is often instable, and finally, fully unusable. I tried all the precompiled images, then I compiled myself, but the same problem ... Until now, I used 3.4.106 without problems Thanks for support ! Greetings ,

Hi everyone, I was doing speed tests on the XR819 and started looking at the driver code. My this looks very similar to the cw1200 driver already in mainline Linux. I started modifying the cw1200 driver to try and get it to work with the XR819. Apart from someone renaming functions and adding a bunch of important junk for XR819, the drivers are quite similar. I've modified the cw1200 driver up to the point that it's loading the boot_cw1x60.bin ( boot_xr819.bin ) file, but for some reason the bootloader is returning an error instead of success. I don't think it's possible to diagnose this without the datasheet from ST. Clearl…

I have problem with transmission-deamon on my CubieA20. It not starting listening on boot. Only after service restart. Met same problem on Raspberry-3 but it cured by enabling "boot to wait until a network connection is established" option. I checked the raspi-config and taken same measures on my A20 ("ExecStart=/sbin/dhcpcd -q -w" etc). Not succeeded! Anyone have alternate methods? There's some more applications that not starting on boot if connection not active, Blynk-client for ex. PS: I use legacy kernel on 5.25 Armbian. UPD: Problem resolved by editing /etc/network/interfaces.
