I compiled an environment for an Orange Pi zero using CSC, Edge , Jammy, console server, standard. I didn't change any of the defaults. Things works except for the OrangePi expansion card with dual USB ports. The expansion card USB ports are not recognized. Anyone know what I need to select to get the expansion board working?

Hello, I use Orange Pi Zero + 4 ports USB hub + CM108 USB-Audio cards with mic-in. All by default. Each mic is captured with sipmle commands like: arecord -v -r 44100 -c 1 -D "hw:CARD=Device_1,DEV=0" -f S16_LE > mic1.wav When 3 cards capturing simultaneous all working well. But if I start capturing with 4th card simultaneous I get two cards with crackling recorded audio. I even can see that arecord saves less data from these two cards (file size is less than with 3 cards). No error/warning provided anywhere (dmesg, syslog, arecord). Moreover, if I stops recording from one card - it becomes normal fo…

Hello. I have a small problem: I can't change the language on my OPi Zero. I have successfully done that with OPi Lite 2 and OPi 3, but for some reason on the Zero when I go to change it, the module fails to load and just quits back to the same "menu page". (essentially does nothing). The only thing I can think of, is that both of the other boards have 1Gb RAM and this only has 512Mb and thus it runs out of memory? That doesn't sound too plausible though - a list of keyboard languages shouldn't take tens or hundreds of megs of RAM. As far as I know, each board is running the same version of Armbian, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Hello, I have been struggling for some time with random freezes. I am running application with i2c0 Fram and UART1 for transferring/receiving data based on MAX3232. The freezes cause no response from Orange PI (debug UART too), only unplug power helps. I read that it may be a problem with powering but i tried many USB power adapters 2A, 3A and ATX power (28A) connected to GND and 5v, nothing helps. I have lowered cpu max frequency to 816Mhz and still the same. All necessary data uploaded via armbianmonitor.

Hi there. I use Orange Pi zero as home print server. It works for few months for now and I am very pleased with that. Although, my printer falls into deep sleep after printing (it's Brother HL-1110EW) and cannot be woken up by the server. I have to start printer manually to print next printouts. Thus I wanted to install tea4cups to drive a relay turning the printer on and off when needed. I installed the WiringOP-zero (from here: https://github.com/xpertsavenue/WiringOP-Zero) but then strange things become to happen. I connected temporarily a LED diode to indicate the changes of the GPIO. (GPIO-7 and GND). The LED is on all the time, no matter what command I se…

I'm getting an error and I'd like some feedback if it is a missing package (apt-get) or a bug in OctoPrint or something wrong in Python. It looks like something is blowing up with Python trying to install a package called scandir 1.3, but I'm not getting anything when I google it with the error. Thoughts? The documentation on Git was up to date... the documentation on Octoprint.org is wrong for building it from source. Just bumped this one: Orange Pi Zero, stable version, legacy kernel Trying to insert Realtek WiFi dongle (8188eu in my case). Original solution has value "2", but it was just a guess, so I used "1". Module worked in parallel with original xradio. According to original poster on 4pda, this issue was seen on Orange Pi PC. Not sure, is it correct solution, but, well - it may help. Issues seen - when I try to un…

Thanks for your effort on this project. Much appreciated. I was able to follow this tutorial (10 minutes, 24 seconds in) on the Debian image to get the TV out working. I'm building scripts to modify the networking between a number of modes - super helpful to get a console access when I break something and lose all networking access. Is there support for this on the Ubuntu side? The simple "add 'tv' to the bottom of "/etc/modules" doesn't do anything. Please advise. Thanks!

Hi, I am trying to use the two UARTS on the I/O pins which are UART 1 and UART 2 mapped to PG6/PG7 and PA0/PA1 respectively. I have had a look at the FEX file and these seem to be mapped correctly to UARTS's port 1 & 2 so I would expect these to be mapped to /dev/ttyS1 and /dev/ttyS2 but this does not seem to be the case. If I try to connect to these UARTs using screen I simply get the message: - root@orangepizero:~# screen /dev/ttyS1 9600 [screen is terminating] I have tried searching these forums and Google but have not really found anything - any help or pointers in the right direction would be much appreciated. Hello, I have 2 Orange Pi Zero boards, one with 256MB RAM and one with 512MB RAM. Hello, My Orange Pi Zero was working during a few days. However after a few days it stopped working. Well it took me longer than i hoped but i have managed to forward port icenowys code for TVE on the H2+/H3 to mainline armbian. It seems to work totally fine, with a few caveats. First: Sample images of it in action -> https://imgur.com/a/vXQEM Second: the patch itself -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/tree/v0.0.11 Third a prebuilt image for Orange Pi Zero: -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/releases/tag/v0.0.11 Howto: just put the patch into userpatches for the sunxi-next kernel, and build. it should apply cleanly. Its for H2+/H3. I have only tried it on a orange pi zero, but it should work on all H2+/H3 boards. …

Hi Srs! I have problem in using Armbian 14 with orange pi zero .. I already used the Armbian system in my OrangepiZero. However, I reinstalled everything again and downloaded the latest version of the operating system here on the site. When I try to use onboard audio (both capture and output) does not work. I have already enabled the analog-codec and it still does not work. Remembering that I already used the equipment with the Armbian and used the onboard capture of the board perfectly. Thanks!

Hi, Sorry for the newbie question. Is it possible to configure Armbian/OrangePiZero such as it can bridge 2 wireless networks. i.e.: connecting to an existing SSID to gain access to the internet, and at the same time servicing as an access point using another SSID ? And.... how do I do that ? Thanks in advance, Richard

The Orange Pi Zero +2 H3 with USB hat will hard lock up on boot at "Starting Armbian Hardware Monitoring" when booting the latest (and at least one previous) available Buster (and Bullseye) images over HDMI console. Tested on multiple SD cards with the same result. (I will test with serial later, I do not have the time to remove it from the case at the moment; I figured I would post it now in case anyone had a chance to check before I could.)

So I have an application which requires 1Mbps UART and wasted a few days trying to debug my board thinking that was the issue (was working perfect at 115kps), so I decided to scope the UART TX from the orangpi, and of course that signal was not actually working at 1Mbps. Scope is saying that its running at 750Kbps. Did some research and it looks like there is some sort of UART scaling frequency set in the driver, which excludes certain bitrates from running (check here https://github.com/jernejsk/linux/blob/master/drivers/tty/serial/sunxi-uart.c#L356-L381 ) Did some further tests and 460Kbps works fine as well as 1.5Mbps (so its not an issue w…

Using the latest FW Image https://redirect.armbian.com/orangepizero2/Bullseye_legacy the Orange Pi doesn't boot anymore or at least I'm not able to establish a ssh connection. If I use the the archived previous version the board behaves completely normal until I perform an "apt upgrade". After upgrading it also doesn't boot anymore.

Hello, I'm new to this forum and Armbian. I've got an Orange Pi Zero 2+ H5 running the Armbian_5.34.171121_Orangepizeroplus2-h5_Ubuntu_xenial_next_4.13.14 image. I have my Orange Pi Zero flashed correctly (I think) with the green light solid and the red light flashing on every so often. I've got the unit plugged into a charger that provides sufficient power. The devices SoC warms up hinting that it is actually booting. When plugged into my network the activity LEDs do not flash nor does my router detect it. I'm considering connecting my keyboard to connect it to wifi blind. If I plug it in after boot nothing changes. What should I do? How can I connect it to my wifi blind? I do not have the shield for video out.

Hi everyone, I'm new to Orange Pi Zero 2w and Armbian. I'm trying to use the image on the zero2w. Installing on the SD fits and works so far. Unfortunately, there is no image on the screen via the HDMI port. Could it be due to the image? The old OrangePi image with the 5.x kernel works so far. Do you have an idea? Best regards

After many days spent wondering why is my OPI Zero2w 1.5GB not booting some Armbian images (xfce desktop version for example), I have found there is a "bug" or difference in uboot models 1.5GB + 4GB vs 1GB+2GB. Fix that might work for Zero2w is here https://forum.armbian.com/topic/31654-orange-pi-zero-2w/ (planning to test it soon) Can somebody confirm Opi Zero2W 1.5GB has still this issue with some Armbian images ? Armbian minimal boots without aby issues. Not sure why it works and desktop doesnt.

Hello Armbian community, Firstly, thank you for the amazing work that you do. Having Armbian has made the setup process so simple, and I really appreciate that I'm completely new to the world of SBCs and Armbian (but not Linux), and this issue had me stumped for a long time. I wanted to share the solution for those who are in the same position as me, as I only found this on Raspberry Pi resources. Sorry if this has already been covered elsewhere in the forums - my searches didn't show any answers from here, and additionally, I keep getting time-locked (forced to wait 30sec) for every forum search. The model of OPI I have is the Orange Pi Zero 2…

I need some help with this LCD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CMD7Y55M?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share, i bought it since i verified whith the always unreliable AI GPT if it would work with my Orange Pi since i want to use the screen in my klipper 3d printer. Now im stuck since the available driver from the manufacturer are only for the Arduino and RP2040. I verified evrywhere and could only find one github but that one did not work for me and there are no tutorials of how to work with this. Does some one have any idea of how to make this run or work?. Just in case my wiring is as follows:

Yesterday, I tried to use the digital IO in my opi zero3, with the Python GPIO package from https://opi-gpio.readthedocs.io/en/latest/ by Richard Hull It depends on having sysfs files in /sys/class/gpio/ My original opi zero has these files and it works, but my opi zero3 doesn’t have these files I learned that /sys/class/gpio is created if the linux kernel is configured with a specific option ON, as suggested in the documentation: https://github.com/rm-hull/OPi.GPIO https://linux-sunxi.org/GPIO Also, a developer has made a change on the opi.GPIO project to support opi zero3 https://github.com/rm-hull/OPi.GPIO…

I'm trying to configure the CS (Chip Select) pin on my Orange Pi Zero 3. I added overlays=spi-spidev to the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file, created my own dtbo file, and tried all possible methods suggested by ChatGPT. I've been struggling for two weeks with no success. I haven't been able to switch the CE1 pin to alt4 state; it only stays off, nothing else. Is it even possible to work with SPI on this board?

Hi! So the problem is when I configure wifi hotspot using hostapd, isc-dhcp-server, and ifupdown, I'm able to start the AP, connect to it, and ping. However, the moment any device connects to the AP the serial console gets spammed with this message around once a second: protocol 0000 is buggy, dev wlan0 This happens on the unofficial Armbian build (from the Armbian OrangePi Zero3 page), DietPi, and the official OrangePi Debian build. The wireless band doesn't matter. Kernel version: 6.1.31-sun50iw9. I tried to set up the AP with NetworkManager, but couldn't manage to connect to it. Probably DHCP issues that I couldn't resolve. I haven't …

Before I came to armbian I have tried the vendor-supplied debian and arch images and could not get hdmi output on any of them, so it might be that my micro-hdmi adapter is faulty or that the hdmi-port on the device itself is faulty, but over the weekend I cannot replace any hardware so I thought I try here to see if anyone has an idea on what to try. Can the opi zero decode anything above 1080p? I want to decode a 3MP h.264 stream (2048*1538) and re-encode it to 1080p and serve over RTSP. do I need to get an H3 for that? the wiki says http://linux-sunxi.org/H2%2B#Variants Is that HDMI specific or lack of GPU power for decoding? Will that be pushing it too much even on an OPI PC?

Have not been able to confirm if it is possible for the Orange Pi Zero to act as a virtual mass storage device. I would like to be able to plug this into a device and have that device treat the Pi Zero as a USB drive, and write to the on board SD as such. I believe this requires USB on the go so that the device can be USB slave. Any input on the topic is appreciated. I know the Raspberry Pi Zero W supports this, but I think i will have better luck with the wireless having an external antenna on the Orange Pi Zero.

I don't know it is correct but works for me. The input mic is very sensitive and must be lower value to have good quality sound I don't know why is displayed option for MIC2 , the orange pi zero has only one microphone input

I'm trying to set up one of my Orange PI Zero to be a MPD Player and in parallel to play streams from other devices over network. The streams are provided by a Ubuntu desktop PC and and a Librelec PC. The Orange Pi Zero is running Armbian 5.38 with Kernel 4.14.18. I tried the last days two solutions: ALSA dmix plugin playing everything except network streams and Pulseaudio for nework streams Playing everything through Pulseaudio in system mode The first solution failed as the dmix plugin in ALSA has poor performance and causes regularly high CPU load resulting in broken audio playback with MPD The second solution seemed to be better s…

Hi friends, I am trying to downclock my OPi Zero and set/disable unused cores 1,2,3, limit DRAM speed, limit max cpu core frequency, put voltage down. Is this possible on Opi Zero? I tried e.g. but when I cat /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu3/online is is always 1. Any idea please? Some advice how to do all of this is highly appreciated. I am trying to downclock Opi Zero to push produced heat down.

Hello, I have OPI0 with Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS with Linux 5.8.6-sunxi and I would like to set 240 MHz as minimum frequency. cpufreq-info shows that available steps starts at 480 MHz but on older kernel 240 MHz and 120 MHz were available too. I also tried to "force" 240 and 120 by editing /etc/default/cpufrequtils but no go. Lower reachable frequency is 480 MHz and what I see are a bit CPU higher temperatures. cpufreq-info cpufrequtils 008: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2009 Report errors and bugs to cpufreq@vger.kernel.org, please. analyzing CPU 0: driver: cpufreq-dt CPUs which run at the same hardware frequency: 0 1 2 3 C…
