Hello everyone, I'm having some isues with my olimex board. It boots fine on the images supplied by olimex. But the Armbian legacy images wont boot. I have a serial connection to the board it hangs on the following line: <6>axp20_ldo2: 1800 <--> 3300 mV at 3000 mV. http://pastebin.com/nEHAiZHa I need legacy for i2s support so mainline isnt an option. I use the following board(tried 3 of these): https://www.olimex.com/Products/OLinuXino/A20/A20-OLinuXino-LIME-4GB/open-source-hardware I used the following armbian image (jessie and wheezy give the same error): http://www.armbian.com/olimex-lime/ Building the image myself also doesnt work.…

I have recently been trying to get my spi ili9341 working under kernel 6.6, having gotten it working previously. I checked to ensure there were no changes in the overlay required by the newer kernel. I confirmed that the pins were configured correctly and that the ILI9341 DRM module had loaded.. Despite this I was met with a white screen. Think I must have missed something I swapped out my SD card for another using an image based on kernel 5.15.88, where I was able to recieve a display. Looking back over the dmesg log, I noticed a slight difference in behaviour with the older kernel. firstly we can clearly see that the SPI driver is requesting to use gpio 34 as…

Hi all, I need to enable rts/cts on my OrangePi Zero with Armbian buster with Linux 5.4.26-sunxi installed. I added the "param_uart2_rtscts=1" (I'm using /dev/ttyS2) to the /boot/armbianEnv.txt file On mi code I use this initialization of the port. xxxxx.c_cflag |= port_parity | port_bits | port_stop | CLOCAL | CRTSCTS | CREAD; Not only rts/cts but also the tx and rx pin aren't working now. Has anyone managed to enable the port on this board? Am I doing something wrong?

I've had an Orange Pi Zero Plus 2 H5 for a few months, and it is driving me crazy. I can easily boot into the useless Android distro included on the eMMC. I can run most of the distros on the OrangePi website, although they seem to all be missing features or not working 100% in one way or another. I would LOVE to run Armbian on this board. Each time I try, I have huge problems. My video signal is often garbled or at best full of artifacts. I get segfaults every few minutes, and it seems like the filesystem is corrupted. I've tried running it with multiple power supplies (I have several Canakit 2.5amp ones), as well as several different gen…

Hello, on Cubietruck, until I upgrade my ARMBIAN server from Jessie to Stretch with kernel 4.13.16-sunxi, I could use the VGA output for display. After the upgrade, I don't have any display from VGA. Hello, I've purchased a 2e recently, in order to replace a RPI3 with a more powerful device (and get graphics acceleration, be able to watch youtube videos, etc). I've tested multiple builds, and even on the legacy kernel, there is just no way to get it to work properly. The board, when it sits completely idle, is between 48 and 52°. And if I move a window on the desktop, it's all laggy and the cpu jumps to 60+° --the same with a mainlain image in fact, in headless mode... frequently the console would freeze for a couple seconds while the temperature is very high for no reason. It seems there is no hardware graphics acceleration, ever. Curr…

Hi forum, I ran an apt-get upgrade a few days back and here linux-image-current-sunxi:armhf was updated from 21.05.6 to 21.08.2 After reboot my SATA was gone. There was nothing in the logs which would have indicated that something is wrong. After I reverted back to 21.05.6 apt-get install linux-image-current-sunxi=21.05.6 apt-get install armbian-firmware=21.05.8 apt-get install linux-dtb-current-sunxi=21.05.6 everything worked again. Has anyone experienced something similar ? Regards Volker

Hello; My OrangePi PC HDMI port is dead, it throws no input signal, and I've read that this board has no ESD protection for HDMI, so I assume it died because of it. What I want to get is video working through analog TV out, but I can't seem to find the solution for this. I guess it should be simple task, but I never did it before. Hopefuly somebody can give me the solution. Thanks!

Dear forum, When looking at the Orange Pi Zero schematic V1.1, the OSC-RTC box is empty. Does this mean that there is no crystal for the internal RTC? The internal RTC cannot be used at all? When just checking the time register, the RTC is running too fast. Thanks, Arjan

TRYING TO CLONE EMMC FROM ONE NEO CORE INTO ANOTHER. I found this link below : https://github.com/zador-blood-stained/fel-mass-storage I still don't know if it works since i had to enter FEL MODE which i could not. maybe i am trying in a wrong way. SO how could i get a clone EMMC of nanopi neo core (taking into consideration it might not have FEL mode)? but if it does then how to enter this mode? and how to run this clone on another nanopi neo core?

Hi Dear Friends! I'm having trouble using the onboard analog soundcard from my OrangePi Zero +. I already enabled analog-in in armbian-config, but when I try to run some application that uses the sound card, it has an error. In this example I'm trying to use the direwolf app that serves to decode FSK audio. The error also repeats when I try to use svxlink.

I have Orange PI PC Plus with GC2035 camera module. Upgraded to 4.13.6 sunxi-next mainline kernel and noticed that GC2035 camera driver is gone! Why is it so? Maybe someone forgot to include this driver to the kernel? People are still using these cameras and need them! If it was a conscious decision to remove the GC2035 camera from the sunxi-next tree - then, well, it was a horrible decision that should be reversed. Please return this driver. https://github.com/avafinger/gc2035 Earlier it was at ./drivers/media/video/sunxi-vfe/device/gc2035.c location, but now the directory structure could be very different...

Hello, it seems like there are no dts files to add support for i2s. How hard would it be to complete this task? The documentation from h6 references support for i2s, and the same in the user manual from Xunlog : http://dl.sumnic.com/download/OrangePi-One-Plus.pdf Edit:After some reading, i2s is not working for now and there's no proper driver yet. Thanks to martinayotte, SPI is working.

Hi all, some days ago I successfully built the image mentioned above (Build environment is Ubuntu 14.04/64 bit). The only remarkable issue was the ever-repeating "firstrun" script, which was easily solved with the method mentioned here: http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1100-post-install-scripts-on-every-reboot/#entry8509 (may be ALL of the scripts should be changed this way?) But today, after checking out the actual "master", I see a lot of failed copy and sed commands until the debootstrap-ng script finally fails at Mali-libdri2. The 1st occurrence of an error was during installation of "ramlog". I've inserted a breakpoint and looked into the imag…

Edit: Price seems to be $17.99 Just FYI: FriendlyARM is preparing another H3 board: NanoPi Air somehow related to NanoPI NEO (same low default DRAM clockspeed let me believe this). Hi, I have quiet a problem getting ipsec/strongswan running on my Orange Pi R1. IPSec is configured fine and it connects to my vpn gatway by establishing and ikev2 connection with the help of transform (xfrm) interfaces. After connection everything works fine, but not for long. When I transfer large amounts of data (e.g. iperf3) the whole Orange Pi R1 freezes suddenly. This occours almost immideatly, sometimes i get a couple of seconds a data stream, but mostly it freezes at once. Currently I use even the lates "Linux orangepi-r1 5.9.1-sunxi #20.08.14 SMP Tue Oct 20 23:01:54 CEST 2020 armv7l GNU/Linux" Kernel, and I upgrade…

Hello there, I tried to use on OPC3 bionic the ttyS1 for communcation with a serial device and didn't get it to work. ttyS3 works fine. Configuration is done for both. But now I need to communicate with a second and possibly a third serial device. So I hoped for updates. But now I can't find a download of the bionic version and i have to make decision how to go further on. Does it make sense to switch to buster or stretch? Is bionic only temporarily or finally offline? Whats the reason? Any idea when there is a chance to get a stable release. Possibly with 6 Months or surely not within 6 months. Which version is more likely to …

Hello. Some facts: 1. Boot with image based on legacy kernel cause shutdown after some (less than 10) seconds after power on. 2. Boot with image based on vanilla kernel always ok. 3. If i try to boot without SD card, than power off Cubie with button, then insert SD and switch on with button - it will boot OK with lagacy kernel! Which logs can help to find the problem? I ought to use legacy kernel - i need internal soundcard and both USB. And I see that it is not my own problem - http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/1593-armbian-cubieboard1a10-desktop-with-legacy-kernel-wont-boot-just-shuts-off-cubieboard/- i think we can help to find the bug.

Hi, Please see my comments in the other thread: Essentially when booting a Neo Core using the current air/core mainline image, the onboard fast ethernet is not being initialised. At a guess its because this is not included in the device tree (dtb/dts) for the nano pi air image or in uBoot config - however, if the image is to serve both boards it almost needs to - or they need to be separated. Both are probably reasonable options. Right now i'm trying to understand where the board defs for ethernet are collected during the image build using the armbian build environment and try and get a functional image with fast ethernet for the core…

I got Armbian (Jessie desktop) working on Orange PI PC. I did "sudo apt-get update" and then "sudo apt-get upgrade" and everything was ok until it said "Compiling headers (please wait)." It has now been on this step for a very, very long time. Is it stuck or does this take a ridiculously long time to complete? Should I shut it down and start over or keep waiting? The green light is staying on steady.

Please give me a tip - what is purpose of /dev/mmcblk2boot block devices created? Quite small size - 4MB - ones, do they serve to something u-boot needs at boot time? Hi there, i just wanted to report my experience with Igor Pecovnik's debian 4.1.2 image - especially since he says that I2C is untested with Kernel 4.0 and above. I have a PCTV DVB-C/T2 USB Stick (Triplestick 292e) and could make it work with my Cubietruck. I had to use Igor's compile script from the project website in my ubuntu virtual machine on Windows 7 to get the kernel sources and compile the kernel with the required options (the offered SD-Card image lacks support for I2C Multiplexing). To use this stick, you have to compile the kernel with I2C Multiplexing built in, and build the i2c mux modules for the chipset (I compiled all i2c_mux drivers as modules si…

I am trying to control a relay board on OPI PC plus - armbian. I have used "orangepi_PC_gpio_pyH3" module in python before to control leds, buttons and an 16x2 LCD. This is the relay. To control the Relay module i connected VCC to 5V, GND to ground and IN to PIN 35 (Which is PA10 on my board). and used the code below to open or close the relay just to test but no luck. The code does not return any errors, it runs and finishes but no activity on relay. Both leds (Red and Green) on relay are on when connected. Any help would be appriciated.

Recently i have been experimenting with interrupts on orange pi zero plus2-H3 trying to capture data-ready pulses from an external adc on gpio PA19. The aim is to synchronize spi-read-data transactions with the incoming adc data-ready signal. First I tried to get it to work on legacy kernel 3.4 by adding the following section in to /boot/script.fex and compile the .fex file to .bin file using fex2bin: [gpio_para] gpio_used = 1 gpio_num = 6 .... gpio_pin_6 = port:PA19<0><default><default><1> This configured the pin properly as i had tested on other pins with some leds and it works. Hi everybody, I need some help because I can't make my OPIPlus2e working the way I want. If I understood well I have to install latest armbian, and copy/past script.bin, but sometimes ethernet is not recognized. I tried every distros on my orangepi2e, but I can't install things like kodi (refuses to start, missing libs), or making work hfs drive (can't mount hfs although hfsprogs well installed). I ended up installing openelec and it works great, but I would like to do a NAS with it. Is it still in active development or there is working ISO ? Thank you very much. Best regards, Poukin

Hi, I've been using Armbian with Banana Pi M2 for a while and I am very satisfied with performance. Recently I noticed that Teamviewer has been developed for ARM systems, officially only for Raspbian but it seems few people had success running it on Orange Pi too. I followed installation instructions and succeeded however once I connect to it I see only black screen. Did anyone else manage to get it working? Below is link to original thread: https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=144608

Hello After a couple of years, I took my "ancient" OrangePi board and found it working well with Ubuntu 18.04 (kernel 3.14.113). And I even did distr update to 20.04. So HW is ok. I found that Armibian support status of OrangiPi is changed to "Supported" and decided to try the latest image with modern kernel "Armbian_21.02.1_Bananapi_focal_current_5.10.12_desktop.img.xz" (shared image between OrangePi and BananaPi). XFCE desktop was loaded but USB was not working. And that was the known mismatch between OrangePi and BananaPi HW conguration. So I updated "/boot/armbianEnv.txt" with "fdtfile=sun7i-a20-orangepi.dtb". But after that video became OFF…

are the 1-wire modules built into legacy kernel ( 3.4.xx ) with debian jesse on an Olimex A20 LIME2 ( also the -SOM-4GB ) ? To use 1-Wire for DS18b20 temperature sensors on GPIO5 (from my fex file : gpio_pin_5 = port:PG04<0><default><default><default>) I added [w1_para] w1_used = 1 gpio = 5 to the aw_som_a20.fex file but I don't see any 1-wire modules or drivers loaded. I then used fex2bin ( in windows) to get the .bin file, copied it over and replaced the symlink from script.bin that was pointing to lime2.bin to point to my SSM_som.bin ( I changed the name of the edited one to my board name : SSM_som) Would I need to recompile the kernel t…

Hey there, I just build a fresh dev image for the OrangePi One Plus (Stretch, console only, 5.0.x megous sources, latest commit was https://github.com/armbian/build/commit/783c2d0e25ff4542876943cfef6a7ac2921d1262) and unfortunately it seems to be unbootable. I've built https://github.com/auto3000/RPi.GPIO_NP for the Duo running Armbian Ubuntu test image: cd /sys/class/gpio for i in gpiochip* ; do echo `cat $i/label`: `cat $i/base` ; done 1c20800.pinctrl: 0 1f02c00.pinctrl: 352 Has anyone actually got RPi.GPIO working on Duo? After watching a video tutorial on youtube I have attempted to use the build scripts to create a newer image for my Pcduino V2. I had been initially using an image that I found on the archives which uses kernel 4.14, this worked fine for the most part apart from shutting down which would fail 9/10 to shutdown normally. the only way I could ensure that it would shutdown was to do poweroff -f otherwise it just went into a state where most things such as the wifi and usbs would no longer be detected and i was greeted with the message failed to reach target.poweroff. from what I could find out about the issue suggested that it was some kind of issue with systemd, but I could …

A few months ago I dried one of my OPiPC with a 12V power supply and I have not had a chance to try and revive it. So I am looking to migrate the existing 128GB sd card to a OPi Zero. From what I understand, the following would need to be done Mount the SD card (ideally on a linux BOX or VM) Replace script.bin with a suitable file Sync Eject Enjoy Can anyone confirm? Do I need to swap the kernel as well, or is it ok to keep the existing one? As for the script.bin, what's the best way to get one? Download an image and mount it, use fex2bin to generate one? Any help is appreciated. Than…

I had to freeze my device on Kernel 6.1.92 & Bullseye to remain operational. Now trying to update/upgrade to Kernel 6.6.nn I run into following probs: 1) Using Armbian-config defreeze and subsequently switch to kernel 6.6.nn works OK 4me, but subsequent apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104. Armbian-config has changed significantly w/ No other Kernel available. 2) Using Armbian-config defreeze, only and going directly to apt-get update/upgrade throws me back to kernel 6.1.104 as well and from Bullseye back to Buster! Its a mess! Will this eventually be corrected and when? RGDS

For some reason the reboot command doesn't appear to reboot the H3. Is this because it doesn't have a PMIC in the same way that the A20's do or is it just a case of the correct assembly instruction not being called?

Hi enthusiast, Last few year I used Armbian 5.25, which allow me to echo cpufreq into /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/scaling_***_freq to choose the overclock freq. However, last week, I had to disconnect the power and the Banana Pi didn't boot again. So I decided to install a fresh updated version of Armbian, which is called Bionic. Hello all, just joined the forum since this is my first time using Armbian. So I got a NanoPi M1 and the dvp cam500b. From what I understand this camera uses the omnivision ov5640. I am having trouble getting this thing recognized in armbian. I get /dev/video0 to be listed by adding it to /etc/modules, but if I go to access it with any software it reports back 'no such device' or to the similar effect (this includes mjpg-streamer, fswebcam, ffmpeg). Researching around I find many forum posts of people saying one must modify the 'fex' file... to which I found out this is the decompiled version of the /boot/script.bin file using the sunxi-tools/bin2fex. Thing is, wh…

Hi, ALL! Have anybody success story with an Armbian and Kodi? With Armbains 5.05...5.10 I installed (apt-get update ; apt-get install kodi) kodi 15.2 from this repository: Quote as described here and allways (in all Armbian releases) has a problems with a sound: sound level very low ans high level noise starting even no video - beginning while kodi GUI started (permanent noise in menus). Film sound also exists while film started playing, but sound level near noise level and very low both (btw, kodi volume regulator not working, only mute mode working in kodi). Hi, After running the default image with legacy kernel for a few weeks, I am now trying the run a fresh SD card with the latest build of the mainline image. However, the MAC address of my device appears to be changing after each reboot - and I am running about of ideas to fix this issue. What I've tried so far: - Edit script.bin & add MAC address in the [dynamic] section - Edit armbianEnv.txt - Define an address in /etc/network/interfaces So far, I have not been able to solve the problem. Your help is much appreciated. Any suggestions on possible fixes for the issue?

Hi, Initially this started by trying to have proper capture and playback in PCM/I2S port, but it looks like that ALL H3 audio drivers got the same problem, they cannot capture at 24bits, they cannot do HiFi recording despite the Allwinner's datasheet that they do have 24bits in plain audio port and up to 32bits in PCM/I2S/HDMI. I made a very simple test in another thread here and anyone with any H3 board without anything else can do it too -> http://forum.armbian.com/index.php/topic/759-tutorial-i2s-on-orange-pi-h3/?p=17595 Then it popped to my mind to do the most simple of the tests, in the included/onboard audio codec, wich according to datasheet it is w…

So I have a question... I'd like to manage Li-Ion battery operation on SBCs using the AXP209 power management chip (especially the Banana Pro, as that's what I have...) I soldered a connector to the battery terminals on my BPro for portable operation, and it would be nice to have some kind of solution to raise an alert at low battery charge (like via the onboard LEDs), and automatically call system shutdown at a certain level. Googling has shown that the AXP209 has an i2c interface for sensors, and there are a few scripts for reading battery status here: http://hardware-libre.fr/2014/11/banana-pi-axp209-battery-power-monitoring/ My current plan is to pro…

The other question is about the tested 3rd party hardware which include various LAN and WLAN adapters. Have those indeed tested with the current experimental images and working? Or is the network support disabled in the current builds at all? Best regards Werner

Hi, https://www.armbian.com/orange-pi-pc2/ states: "Following features should work:" ... "SPI+USB boot" . I was trying to load u-boot from the SPI (but without success). I followed the instructions in u-boot/board/sunxi/README.sunxi64 : $ ./sunxi-fel spiflash-write 0 spl/sunxi-spl.bin $ ./sunxi-fel spiflash-write 32768 u-boot.itb Booting from SPI ends with an exception: U-Boot SPL 2017.09-armbian (Sep 13 2017 - 12:23:18) DRAM: 1024 MiB Trying to boot from sunxi SPI "Synchronous Abort" handler, esr 0x02000000 ELR: 4a000000 LR: 125cc x 0: 000000004a000000 x 1: 0000000000000000 x 2: 0000000000007000 x 3: 000000007…

Hi, I'm still experimenting with different "Linuxes" on that boards.. to get an LCD Display (LVDS) and the Ethernet part working. It cost me days to figure out that there seems to be an ugly glitch. with the stone age "cb2-dvk-sdcard-lubuntu-lcd v1.0.img" I get an working X11 Desktop with 800x480 ..but Ethernet doesn't work. I've checked those fex files (script.bin, script.fex) but couldn't figure out what's going on. I think that doesn't interest someone besides me, ok., got that. Now I've tried the actual "Armbian_community 24.5.0-trunk.667 Jammy with Linux 6.6.31-current-sunxi" that I've downloaded from somewhere here (…

Hi, do you remember my issue with 2 opi1? Well, today I burned again an armbian image with etcher and connect either of the two opi one, to a usb-ttl converter (an arduino). ok, when I put the power on the result is what you see in the attach... the two freeze on DRAM: always. the power is a xiaomi power adapter 5v2a (double checked with a multimeter) and a handmade cable (checked with the multimeter too, 4.8v/4,9v always) so...can I finally tell that my two board are faulty? or there is something I could do? thank you in advance

[EDIT: The solution to this was realizing I'd been handed Banana Pi's (which have no WiFi), not Banana Pro's (which do have WiFi). I wasted a few days on this.] Hey guys, I'm sure you're sick of hearing this, but I have no WiFi with latest Banana Pi Pro image. No errors in dmesg, lsmod shows "brcmfmac" is present, but no device in iwconfig.

I don't know if this is something I have broken or not, but I have a \var\log and a \var\log.hdd both identical and both being updated. Where should I be looking to rectify this duplication? ARMBIAN 5.25 stable Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i OrangePiZero

Why not to add lirc_gpio support to NanoPiNeo Air ? Even if it is not planned, I try to use this patch : https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/blob/master/patch/kernel/sun7i-default/0050-lircgpio_and_raw.patch Kernel compilation is ok for me : apt-get -y install git git clone https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib --depth 1 cp lib/compile.sh . ./compile.sh I try to apply this patch now : ~/crosscompile/lib/patch/kernel/sun7i-default/0050-lircgpio_and_raw.patch I expected to have a lircgpio.ko somewhere, but nothing. Is there a procedure or a tutorial or some help to build a driver ?

Hello, I have a problem with uboot, during its scan of USB buses, it blocks for several tens of seconds, displays an error, then boots. Sometimes it blocks completely and it takes several ON/OFF attempts to get it started. I'm using Nano Pi Core LTS with the mini-shield, I have over 20 and it's happening on all of them. This is what is displayed when it finally starts : U-Boot SPL 2020.10-armbian (Aug 08 2021 - 15:18:24 +0200) DRAM: 512 MiB Trying to boot from MMC1 U-Boot 2020.10-armbian (Aug 08 2021 - 15:18:24 +0200) Allwinner Technology CPU: Allwinner H3 (SUN8I 1680) Model: FriendlyARM NanoPi NEO DRAM: 512 MiB MMC: mmc@1c0f000: 0, mmc@1c11000: 1 Loa…

Hi I own since a while an Orange Pi One Plus board that I have been unable to use till now (OS images supplied by manufacturer are just a joke !). I wanted to give it a test with ARMBian as you offer now some Beta images. As both Bionic and Stretcher are offered, is there one of them more stable or more near something finished ? Did someone have tried the board with one of these ? and did it work ? Thanks Vincèn

Well it took me longer than i hoped but i have managed to forward port icenowys code for TVE on the H2+/H3 to mainline armbian. It seems to work totally fine, with a few caveats. First: Sample images of it in action -> https://imgur.com/a/vXQEM Second: the patch itself -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/tree/v0.0.11 Third a prebuilt image for Orange Pi Zero: -> https://github.com/stevenj/h3-tve/releases/tag/v0.0.11 Howto: just put the patch into userpatches for the sunxi-next kernel, and build. it should apply cleanly. Its for H2+/H3. I have only tried it on a orange pi zero, but it should work on all H2+/H3 boards. …

Hello all, I'm going to preface by saying that I am not experienced with Pi, Pi clones, or linux, but I know how to google stuff until my fingers bleed and can navigate around a terminal window well enough. I have an Orange Pi Lite, which is running OctoPrint primarily, but does use a few other uses. I am using a prepared Armbian image file. Upon SSH login in the terminal displays the following: Welcome to ARMBIAN Debian GNU/Linux 8 (jessie) 3.4.113-sun8i System load: 3.17 Up time: 39 min Memory usage: 72 % of 494Mb IP: 192.168.0.250 CPU temp: 36°C Usage of /: 99% of 3.6G storage/: 1% of 3.8G CPU is a…

I am trying to use fbtft on the Orange Pi Zero, seems broken. Looks like an issue with the SPI driver itself. My skills are not enough to debug this. I am doing something like this: modprobe fbtft_device custom name=fb_ili9340 gpios=dc:3,reset:0 speed=32000000 busnum=1 rotate=90 The LCD functions but stops updating after a couple of mins. Linux is still running but dmesg shows a crash.
