I have Armbian_4.5_Cubietruck_Debian_jessie_3.4.109 running from NAND on my Cubietruck. Boot, reboot and shutdown are very slow. I assume that this is caused by this bug: As I do not need WIFI and Bluetooth ... Is it possible to remove WIFI and Bluetooth completely? How? Would that help with the mentioned problem? Is it ensured, that the WIFI and Bluetooth hardware modules are shutoff / power save when disabled? P.S.: great work Igor

All, So in this example, let's use SMB, however it does seem to apply to any transport method i use. I seem to have an issue when writing to the Pi whereby the throughput will peak to 50MBps then drop right down and float around 9MBps. <a href="https://ibb.co/fSXXRG"><img src="https://thumb.ibb.co/fSXXRG/write.png" alt="write" border="0"></a> Local disk test shows shows circa 450 Rear and 50MBps write. I get the same results if i make use of the onboard flash or attach an SSD to the SATA port. Does anyone know what's happening here? it's not the source device that is causing this, It appear…

Hey everyone... I have an Orange pi zero Plus2 h5. The SD card load and boot is working fine. However, i just realized i have no way to connect a keyboard and mouse to it to finish the setup. Is there a way around this like possibly inserting the armbian formated sd card into a linux system and changing config files?? If not, how can i attach a usb port to it?? Thanks.

I'm trying to get a csi cam from aliexpress to work on my orange pi one running Armbian_5.10_Orangepih3_Debian_jessie_3.4.112. I've modified the fex and tried modding the gc2035 kernel driver, and tried several different applications. Everything has failed so far. Are there any resources that describe what I need to do to get it to work? All hardware is new (with a 3a power supply too). Armbian seems to be the best distro to use, and I think I'm running the latest armbian version which includes many fixes. I've also updated and upgraded the os once installed to include anything fixed upstream. This is the aliexpress cam I got for the orange pi one: http://bit.ly…

Hi there I wanted to ask if anybody got HDMI-CEC to work with their Orange Pi Lite. The data sheet says its supported, but I can't get it to work with Armbian. What I tried till now is installing cec-utils with all dependencies and running "cec-client -l", hoping it would work out-of-the-box: root@orangepilite:~# cec-client -l Found devices: NONE Tried different cables and HDMI Ports. CEC is enabled in the TV (Samsung). After a bit of googling (and trying some stuff applying to the RPi) I am now thinking that maybe the kernel hasn't got CEC support compiled in...? root@orangepilite:~# uname -a Linux orangepilite 3.4.112-sun8i #10 SMP PREEMPT Sun Oct 23 16:…

I know, using an old Banana Pi M1 for desktop doesn't make sense at all. I would prefer having help or/and advice clearing the problems I've encountered, instead a discussion why I'm testing a desktop environment on a BPi M1. Tested with Armbian 21.08.01 Buster / 5.10.60 After the initial boot nano or / and armbian-config doesn't work. A reboot solves this issue. After the second boot I changed verbosity to 7 and console to serial. All other changes where made throu armbian-config. Changing Pi's name works, but changing console's layout doesn't. Never mind, that is a minor problem, which can easily solved by hand. So I did "firmware upgrade" and rebooted m…

Hello everyone, I encountered an issue while using SPI with my Orange Pi 3 LTS, and now I'm going to share some solutions. Perhaps the Armbian Team can assist me in resolving the final problem. These tests were conducted on Armbian 23.02.2 Bullseye with Linux 5.15.93-sunxi64. The initial step I took to ensure the appearance of `spidev` on the Orange Pi 3 LTS was to include these configurations in `/boot/armbianEnv.txt`. overlays=spi-spidev1 param_spidev_spi_bus=0 param_spidev_spi_cs=0 Note: If `spi-spidev` and `spi-spidev1` are added together, it will not work, and the `spidev` will not appear when using the `ls /dev/sp*` command. …

Hello, on Cubietruck, until I upgrade my ARMBIAN server from Jessie to Stretch with kernel 4.13.16-sunxi, I could use the VGA output for display. After the upgrade, I don't have any display from VGA. Looking for recommended LCD screens for NanoPi Neo and Orange Pi Zero. I have some IoT ideas I want to explore. Does not have to be touch, and I'm pretty flexible on screen size. Actually, would like a couple of different screen sizes but bigger than an 128x64 OLED (I have that). Must be color. At least 320x240, preferably something 320x480. I just got two Orange Pi Zero systems today and want to create a couple of IoT devices along with the two NanoPi Neo systems I got recently. Performance does NOT have to be ideal, just reasonable (not going to game on it or watch action movies). The Zero means HDMI is not an option; given that, what interface is best - …

Hi All, I am having no luck getting my OP PC+ to boot the Armbian_5.20_Orangepipcplus_Debian_jessie_3.4.112_desktop.img. I have followed https://docs.armbian.com/User-Guide_Getting-Started and after writing to the sd card then trying to boot the monitor remains blank, both lights on the lan socket stay on and the green light stays on. I have tried two sd cards, both of which I have tested with f3write and f3read. I have been able to boot with both sd cards using the OrangePI_Jessie_Xfce.img from https://mega.nz/#F!wh8l2BjK!OBep3nMldBletvNNwkH2Jg I have noticed that this Jessie image puts a boot partition plus the linux partition on the sd card and the…

I have a orange pi pc (H3). I connected a thermal printer which has a TTL interface so I connected the TX wire from the printer to 8 and RX to 10 to orange pi. I change the serial port in my script to /dev/ttyS0 and tried a test print but it will not print. I have tried this in raspberry pi 2 and it works. Any tips how to connect the thermal printer to orange pi.

My Orange Pi Zero (rev 1.4) has a SPI flash module soldered to the underside. I can see the devices /dev/spidev0.0 and /dev/spidev1.0, and I can write to them and read from them (with dd), but the data I read from them is always just null bytes. Obviously then I can't create a filesystem on them. Is it possible to create a small filesystem on the SPI flash to add files? If not, how is it possible to store data on the SPI flash? I'm running Armbian 5.30 with kernel 3.4.113-sun8i.

Edit: Nothing was wrong with the Orange PI. I turned out to be my switch. Hi All, Firstly, Armbian is just fantastic. Secondly, this issue is highly likely to have nothing to do with Armbian, but just the cheap crap you'd expect from a cheap SBC. Essentially, after much pain and anguish having bizarre Ethernet connectivity issues with a shiny new Orange PI PC I bought a couple of days, which was: 1. When OPI was connected my network switch (which has four other devices connected to it: two Ethernet and two WiFi), none of the other devices can reliably 'ping' or SSH to the OPI... 25% to 100% packet loss. 2. When connecting the OPI physically directly to ex…

I have the Orange Pi Zero - working using last week's nightly build which has the WIFI intact and I've since updated using the usual apt-get upgrade. The WIFI is awful - wired is fine - I'm using Xenial - nmtui to setup - and I have two issues - despite turning off WIFI power management and being no more than 3ft away from the (new) access point - WIFI is so sluggish you can tell when typing into a terminal!! Also despite what nmtui should do - if I turn off the access point (simulating an issue with say power) and back on, the Orange Pi Zero will NOT reconnect even minutes later without rebooting. Anyone have ideas as to (a) how to improve the WIFI to make it us…

I just wanted to share some instructions on how to control all GPIO pins on the OrangePi Zero Plus 2 board. These instructions are meant for newbies but it can be extremely helpful if you are new to Armbian, OPI and GPIO. At least it would have been for me. There is a total of 17 different pins to control according to the schematic below. These pins are highlighted in blue numbers that indicate what GPIO port they are available at. Use these numbers in order to know that pins to control. Look for instructions further down. First off some basics: Activate a pin by exporting it. For example. In order to activate IO-0 run: echo "…

Using Armbian_20.02.1 with 5.4 kernel on NEO2 board, I'm running into an issue trying to get the USB OTG working with the g_ether module. When I run modprobe g_ether I see the following in dmesg: [ 490.490582] udc-core: couldn't find an available UDC - added [g_ether] to list of pending drivers I've also tried compiling my own img using the Armbian builder but it looks like all the correct OTG options are already selected by default. I have a non compliant usb device that I want to work with my Orange Pi Lite board. I know how to make it work under Arch linux. For that I need to edit source for the usb generic hid driver (kernel/drivers/hid/hid-core.c), recompile the usb kernel module and reinstall it to intramfs (mkinitcpio -p linux). To recompile kernel module I followed this guide: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Compile_kernel_module What procedure do I need to follow under Armbian? One way is to set up a development environment on a PC, with Virtual Box running Ubuntu Xenial, etc. Recompile the whole armbian and copy the compiled kernel module over to Orange Pi Lite. Hello, I am looking for a dimensional (mechanical) drawing of the OPi Zero. About 3 months ago i bought the Orange PI Zero Plus Orange Pi Zero Plus I installed Armbian Stretch and started playing around. I noticed that it got up to 71c which was to much so i shut it down and went on the net to buy some 5v fans to cool it. A month ago I received the first fans and noticed now that Armbian Buster had arrived. Since I hadn't gotten far with the config of Armbian Stretch I started on a new image. But to my disappointment the ARM processor is now clocked to 1008Mhz and not the 1.2Ghz the device is set to by manufacturer. I can guess that it is because of the heat problem that it is now set to…

Hi there, I pulled the latest changes from github and created a fresh Debian Jessie Armbian Image for my BananaPi M2+. Specifically, I run: BOARD=bananapim2plus BOARD_NAME="Banana Pi M2+" VERSION=5.21 LINUXFAMILY=sun8i BRANCH=default ARCH=arm Through a lot of debugging and googeling, I found that the latest armbian Image uses a different BCM driver (https://github.com/igorpecovnik/lib/issues/484). Now I face the following issue: In order to use AP6216 with hostapd in access point mode, I added "bcmdhd op_mode=2" to /etc/module. I tried a number of things, e.g. using dhd instead of bcmdhd but without success? Any ideas where I can configure AP6216 in op_mode=2 (access …

Hello guys, soon I will receive this nice toy (512MB) and I want to be prepared for my project: a domestic vpn server (using pptp) serving 1 o 2 guests at most. For this project I just need the RJ45 socket thus I would like to switch off as much as possible (e.g. GPU, on board wifi and others if there). Someone can point me to some resources or list what I can do to accomplish this? P.S. I know that pptp is not as secure as IPSec (and maybe IPSec is heavier for such device) but for the purpose of my project it is enough. Thanks a lot Gianni

Hi all, I'm trying to understand how to make an infrared tx/rx module working. This is the module: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/5V-IR-Infrared-Remote-Decoder-Encoding-Transmitter-Receiver-Wireless-Module/32528109291.html Is there a way to make this works in userspace? Overlays? From the docs I was only able to understand how to enable existing overlays. I enabled cir, this is from my armbianEnv.txt: overlays=cir i2c0 but I don't know how to configure pins: which is rx which tx. Do I need to write down a new/custom overlay? I think that configuring pins is crucial to enable IR communication at some level but …

Having my Orange Pi One now for two weeks. I've compiled a new kernel with the great compile tool of Armbian. Now I have AppleTalk as module in the kernel ( 3.4.110 - kernel/net/appletalk/appletalk.ko) It seems that the Ethernet device or driver does not understand AppleTalk. Although Ethernet works... well IP does. If I use a USB Network device (as eth1 with dm9601 module) I have no problem, but the on board network card refuses to work with the AppleTalk software Netatalk. It start, but the OrangePi dioesn't see other AppleTalk devices. With the USB network card, it works fine. It is a pity, because the Orange Pi One is really the cheapest AppleTalk router …

as of some network release before the current (unsupported) 4.11.3 kernel, the networking has started having random value hw mac addresses on every boot. I suspect if you can do so and look @ your DHCP server, you will possibly see the orangepi (or whatever your hostname is) lurking there. Another way to do it if you have to, is to /sbin/ifconfig and get the HWaddr and look for that mac address on your dhcp server. I came by your post while trying to find a workable solution to assigning the mac on the orangepi zero 512 I am bringing up. Jim

I have been digging this topic and i wanted to share what i found and maybe validate if im right or perhaps i am not getting this well. 1. Video encoding and decoding in G31-MP2 is something separated from what Mesa and panfrost would do, so even if those work i cant get video acceleration with h.264 etc. …

I was running this Aruntu before, and never had this issue, which seems to show that this is not an hardware issue. Best, João

I have been searching the net trying to find out how to set up the WiFi interface on an Orange Pi or a Raspberry Pi 3B as an access point. I have to have an access point for a project I have in hand. I found the instructions by Lim Han Yang but they just failed entirely on two out of three candidate boards with the third, an Orange Pi PC Plus, producing a point that is visible to an Android tablet but refused to authenticate. I tried the create_ap procedure from github but that crashed on all three boards when dnsmasq hung. I tried ‘armbian_config’ on the Orange Pi PC Plus which was running the appropriate Armbian image. That didn’t do anything usable. Reasonin…

So I've gone ahead and got an Orange Pi PC. I've already been using a few Raspberry Pi boards, as well as the Odroid C2. I wanted to see what the Orange looks like in comparison. It fails to boot properly. I've read a few things around the web, tried the official as well as a few of the Loboris images, including the Raspbian, Jessie and Slackware ones; used the newer script.bin and uImages, etc. But still no go. The board isn't dead, the power LED and the other 2 LEDs near the ethernet port light up. I get activity through the debug serial port, but that's about it. No image through the HDMI, no DHCP request to my router (I connected it through a wired connection…

Can you power an Orange Pi Zero or Orange Pi One from the 26/40 pin header ? I am pretty sure the answer is yes as the OPI Zero expansion board has a power jack. But is there any information regarding how to do this ? Do you feed the +5v or the +3.3v Is it the same for all of the RPI compatible headers ?

Hi, I'm using the 3.4.107 kernel at the moment and I have also attached an HDD. Now I have the problem that the CUbietruck get's unresponsive once every 1-2 weeks and because of the ramlog I have no logs to see what the problem is. All services stop working, but power is still "on". My only idea is to replace ramlog solution by "normal" logfile writing (and because I use an HDD it's maybe better to directly write on HDD in any case) to have infos when the machine crashes the next time. What I do need to do for that (I'm not really a linux expert ;-) ). Thanks for help. Ingo F

Hi, I have an Armbian image that uses the DTB for the Banana Pi R1 aka Lamobo R1 device. That same image boots fine also on a Banana Pi M1 device, but still needs the DTB be switched to the M1 device. Hey everybody. I'm quite new to allwinner, my first experience was with the A13 (sun4i) from olimex. I wrote a kernel driver for the sunxi kernel, which uses the spi and some GPIO. It talks to an SPI RF chip and works just fine. I want to port my kernel driver for the Orange Pi Zero, but have some issues. My main question is: how do i access the fex file, how do i manipulate the gpio and spi ? In the sun4i there are helper functions in the arch/arm/mach-sun4i/sys_config.c file. #define PIN_DIR(handler,dir) gpio_set_one_pin_io_status(handler, dir, NULL) #define PIN_SET(handler,val) gpio_write_one_pin_value(handler, val, NULL) #define PIN_GET(handler) gpio_rea…

Hello, I'm running a Cubietruck with legacy kernel (3.4.113) since a long time. The use of the legacy kernel is mainly due to the fact that I'm booting from onboard NAND and this was not supported by the mainline kernel for a long time. Meanwhile Armbian's mainline kernel became Stretch in its server flavor and I'm thinking about migrating. However I'm suspicious this will still break NAND boot, despite the fact that the documentation claims plus "missing NAND support" is not listed under "known issues" for the Cubietruck. Can anyone confirm or deny that mainline kernel meanwhile does/does not support booting from NAND on Cubietruck? And if…

Hello everybody! There was a problem, my OrangePI R1 with the Armbian Stretch OS running works in the access point + bridge mode (hostapd & bridge-utils), and when the client downloads a large file from the network, the RTWHALXT process loads the CPU by 100% and rtw_xmit_thread by 20% (watched using top) as a result, the processor freezes. How to fix it? Thanks in advance, sorry for my English I am from Uzbekistan.

Secondly I am sorry if the problems that I describe here have been already discussed. I have not found anything alike. So I am a proud owner of the OPi PC board. Everything seems to be OK, except some fan issues. What have I done until now: 1. Installed Armbian Jessie Server with RPi Monitor 2. Added a. heatsink on the SoC and RAM chips b. Pi Fan with the case The problems: 1. The fan does not work if connected to the second and fourth pins BUT it works using pins 4 and 6. a. It is extrem…
