Hi there, after upgrade Armbian today the Device (banana-pi) doesnt come up again telling that the root fs couldnt be mount because mmcblk0p1 is not available. After checking SD Card everything seems ok, filesystem is there and doesnt have any error. But still no boot. Then after applying a backup things are fine again. Started the upgrade again and same error like before. When applying those two updates there is repeatedly a dead system afterwards. Tested on different devices now. root@gluster01:~# apt list --upgradable Listing... I installed Armbian 4.5 Debian Jessie 3.4.109 and added XFCE desktop, but there is no audio on 3.5 jack (I cannot test HDMI audio output). I built my own Debian Jessie 3.4.109 selecting Banana Pro and including XFCE desktop without any other change, and also in this case there is no audio on 3.5 jack. Some useful information to solve the problem. I run a cubietruck with armbian jessie/legacy-kernel. I used it as a owncloud- and tvheadend-server. For the tvheadend-server i use 2 DVB-S2-USB-devices (TeVii S660 USB). I had problems woith one of them and want to replace one of them with a Technotrend TT-connect S2-4600. I could not compile the needed driver, so I tried to use the vanilla-kernel, because the newer kernel has support for this DVB-card. I could use the Technotrend-device with vanilla. But both devices stutters when displaying or recording a stream. Is this a known problem? When switching back to legacy, the old Tevii-device runs smooth again, but there is no support for Technotrend. What can I d…

I'm trying to get audio out work on Orange Pi Lite using HDMI. aplay -l lists sndhdmi as card #1 and I have set it up as default in ~/.asoundrc. aplay -v shows it being used, but my AV receiver doesn't recognise the Pi nor output any sound. The same cable & receiver works fine with e.g. Macbook Pro. Should the HDMI audio output work in the legacy Jessie server image for OPi Lite? If yes, how could I debug more why it doesn't seem to work?

Hello all, The board has a 2MB NOR FLASH chip what would be enough for storing u-boot and booting the system over network. Unfortunately u-boot says there is no ethernet. Is there anybody who knows how to enable ethernet on this or similar board like OPi PC2 or Nanopi NEO2? Is it just a matter of configuration or is RTL8211E as PHY generally not supported on H5 chips? Thank you very much for your help. --DieHackbeere

Let's say I'm deploying hundreds of warehoused devices employing an H5-based Orange Pi Zero Plus, and I need a reliable distinct identifier for each. In another application we're using the MAC address, but that seems not to be EEPROM-ed on the OPiZ+. So, okay, SOC Unique ID has been mentioned elsewhere (MAC generation on the OPiZ+), but where is it available? cat /proc/cpuinfo does not include "Serial". lshw has a "serial" but I'm not sure that's reliable (I've got a Beaglebone that doesn't show one - and it says /proc/cpuinfo Serial: 00000000). So what's a good low-cost (i.e. not by launching Perl scripts) way to obtain the unique CPU identifie…

Hi guys, In order to increase the CPU frequency on my Orange Pi Zero Plus I need to run the 4.17y kernel: I downloaded the prebuilt image from armbian which only includes the 4.14y kernel. Is there any way to download the newer 4.17y kernel, rather than having to build Armbian from scratch? Sorry if this is a newbie question but I'm not a linux expert. I appreciate any help in advance

Hi. After 2 years uptime it disconnected from wifi and was unable to reconnect even after reboot. I suspect my AC adapter has degraded. Can this SBC measure the voltage? Upd: saw this post: https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/112122/wifi-not-connecting-depending-on-power-supply I use NetworkManager and when it starts it usually cannot connect to wifi saying that the pre-shared key is wrong, marking the connection as failed and not re-trying. In particular, the log contained a failed "asking for new key" message. Re-starting the service or manually activating the connection worked. As a workaround I created a *.conf file in …

My cubietruck mac address which I am assuming is auto generated is invalid. Though one would think it should work, other software on routers will not accept the mac as valid, and thus I can not add configurations to it. We probably need a layer somewhere to create 'valid' mac addresses. 02:C2:07:C0:B7:C7 is the generated mac that my cubietruck is currently using which software claims is invalid.

Hi guys, first I want to thank you for your marvelous work. I've learned much... I've ordered a Nano Pi Neo Air and two Nano Pi Neo from Friendly Arm which arrived last week to build some squeezelite clients and drop them around the house. At the moment I'm just using some cheap USB-C-Media Soundcards but plan to invest in better ones, if the multi-room solution I have in mind is used enough. The Nano Pi Neo (not Air) does exactly what it should using the Ubnuntu Xenial Image from the download page. Cheers! For the Air's I've used the Debian release, don't know really why ;-) At first I've bootet it from a SD-Card after a direct eMMC-Flash using https:…

Hello everyone. My OP-PC is dead, with NO HDMI signal, NO console output, NO network output (LEDs off), only 1 LED is on which indicates SD card inserted (if SD card removes, it off). when use newly created SD card with Armbian, SDcard OS partition not resized. when connect to power supply, I can hear current noise. before it dies, it runs armbian server image with mainline kernel (4.14), it doesn't look like thermal fail, due to it runs very well during summer. I guess it is shorted some place, but I can't find where! so which hardware test point could I use to detects hardware failurtes.

I'm using Armbian 23.02 Bullseye CLI. I didn't want the HDMI to show the boot system log and TTY1 login screen. Hi Igor and all, after running armbian on my A20 lime2 for a long time, I decided to switch to armbian on my A10 lime, too (from jessie with a eewiki-based self-compiled kernel). So far it works as perfect as the A20, but there are two small and funny things with the Armbian_5.00_Lime-a10_Debian_jessie_3.4.110.zip image I used: After login the nice armbian banner stated that my A10 lime is a cubieboard . I have a cubieboard, too. So I double checked... The problem is located in /etc/init.d/armhwinfo, There all "sun4i" boards are simply "Cubieboard". I had to adapt the LED check which is used to detect Lime and Lime2 a bit and added the Lime A10. I ch…

when i triaing change monitor in NANO PI M1 from HDMI to DVI ( H3disp 1080p ), then i cannot start system in a DVI monitor. After changed HDMI monitor is also blocked. Then you have to delete into another computer in sd card your scirpt bin file and rename script.bin.back to script.bin to return to HDMI monitor. DVI does not work at all . maybe it is producer error not software.

I'm sorry for the lame question, I just don't wanna regret anything before buying this fan, so I'm talking about this fan (3cm x 3cm) Spoiler I want to mount this fan right below the board by just screwing it in. Do the holes fit perfectly with the holes of the opiz board ? I've asked this before on facebook but someone suggested me to just glue the fan directly onto the board but I'm afraid it'll damage the board instead.

[Apologies. There seem to be a number of posting close to this subject. Trying to get a definitive view] So, with the 3.4.113 kernel the gc2035 driver fails when trying to identify the sensor. Hello guys, I trying to make my ili9431 to show early stage of boot console. Everything works great if I load from /etc/modprobe.d/fb_ili9341.conf but if I load from armbianEnv.txt nothings happen. I suspect that I am trying to load the device before the driver is loaded. I had got a OrangePI One Plus (H6) on a few day ago. I had a problem with HDMI to VGA Converter that it do not work with my OrangePI One Plus. I guess it maybe about the Power of that HDMI on OrangePI One Plus was not enough for HDMI to VGA Converter's operation. Then I fix it by replace regular HDMI to VGA to be HDMI to VGA with 5V external port. And Yeah, it's work fine!!! but I had OrangePI One (H3), OrangePI PC2(H5) and OrangePI Prime(A64) too which All of them had no problem with HDMI to VGA Converter. I feel wonder with this problem on OrangePI One Plus.

I would like to set a GPIO to output-high during the boot. In this case, the GPIO is PG0 whose number is 192. The device tree overlay is /dts-v1/; /plugin/; / { compatible = "allwinner,sun50i-a64"; fragment@0 { target = <&pio>; __overlay__ { gpio_out_override_hog { gpio-hog; gpios = <192 0>; /* PG0 */ output-high; line-name = "PG0-gpio-hog"; }; }; }; }; However, after the application and reboot, I do not see any init information in "/sys/kernel/gpio" about GPIO 192. There is no "/sys/class/gpio/gpio192" folder existed after boot either. Is there anything wrong in the overlay file?

I'm trying to setup a GPS-based time server on an Orange PI Zero 3, running Armbian 24.8.0-trunk.495, kernel 6.6.43-current-sunxi64. I have the exact same hardware setup working fine on a RaspberryPI 4b, running RPI OS / Debian 11 (bullseye) , kernel 6.1.21-v8+ #1642. On the RPI4, gpsd recognises the (cheap chinese "M8N") GPS module as u-blox and keeps working in a stable way root@rpi4:~# gpsctl /dev/ttyS0 /dev/ttyS0 identified as a u-blox SW ROM CORE 3.01 (107888),HW 00080000 at 9600 baud. the /boot/config.txt has these two lines for the UART config enable_uart=1 init_uart_baud=9600 On the OPIZ3 I configured /boot/armbianEnv.txt for UART5…

Orange Pi Lite - Armbian 5.14 The desktop shutdown (or shutdown -h now) shuts down the desktop, the system starts shutting down, then the desktop starts again, then disappears and the system shuts down. Its not a disastrous problem, but just annoying. I've traced it to the fact that 'nodm' is seeing the desktop stop, and then restarting it. Apparently either 'nodm' isn't getting the shutdown signal, or ignoring it, or getting it too late. Any guidance on what 'nodm' config, or some other config might help me to fix this? /K

I'm trying to figure out why Firefox-esr crashes form time to time on my Olinuxino-Lime A20. I also have a Banana PI (also A20) and on that board Firefox never crashes. On both boards I use the legacy kernel, and I use uBlock adblocker on both boards. The Olinuxino has 512 MB RAM and the Banana Pi 1 GB. Googling around I found out that crashreports could be viewed on "about:crashes" or on ~/.mozilla/firefox/crashes. However, there is no such file. Do youi have any suggestions on where to find crashreports? Thanks in advance and much appreciation for your continuous work on the Armbian distribution!

I installed bananian (the first distro that I found on internet) but after a week I switched to armbian trying to create my own image from scratch. Very well, I like to have control over things. The question is: I should connect a lipo battery to the board so that when the main power goes off a daemon script syncs sd and then shutdown, but when the main power is reconnected the board must do a reboot automatically. It is possible to do this? Where should my daemon sc…

Thanks for the hard work on Armbian. I finally got the EmulationStation GUI to run under OpenGL ES @ ~88fps on OrangePI PC. The trick was mostly building SDL2 from source and not installing it with apt-get per the instructions. Really want to avoid anything "mesa". IIRC, I configured SDL2 with a similar command before making: ./configure --host=arm-linux-gnueabihf --disable-video-opengl Then building EmulationStation from source using: cmake -DGLSystem=OpenGL\ ES . make make install FWIW I did symlink some shared objects into /usr/lib/ (like libMali.so) Next is sorting out libretro stuff.

I bought this board recently, it is my first board and i am very new to this, although i have decent Linux knowledge. Could you point out what i might have done wrong or if i'm missing something?

Hi, I wanna try the armbian for banana pi M2 but when i flash the image in the microSd card with Rufus (i'm on windows 10) the pi does not boot correctly, i.e restarting every 10 seconds. Afterwards the card is not easy to reformat, not accessible on windows. In Rufus I do (i tried with 2 different cards): - choose the .raw file - then the combobox is set to DD image - finally i click on start So is there something I totally miss? Thx

So, the Linux Kernel 4.6 is out. Supposedly it comes with a lot of new ARM processor support. I'm excited about this. I'm not too knowledgeable when it comes to kernel development, especially with ARM devices. I guess the question is, what's it going to take to move the devices that use these supposedly newly supported chips up to 4.6? I'm somewhat keen on updating to a kernel that isn't approaching EOL.

Hello, I leave in a place where we occasionally get really heavy storms or the power gets cut for some reason. This most often does not happen more than five minutes, but there has been longer cases. Now, this poses an obvious problem with my headless server (Orange Pi PC btw). I went on a week trip last month, to discover the development board I needed was completely down. I called a friend and the power had indeed been cut off in my neighbourhood, but my server would no longer respond over SSH. I hard reset the server by power cable and tried restarting sshd (after getting home a week later), just to get warning that the action of the service was queued and afterwards w…

I remember there where a problem before, shutdown leads to reboot. But now it's the opposite - reboot leads to shutdown. Both gui button or: sudo reboot reboot sudo shutdown -r now sudo init 6 from terminal, or ssh, behave the same. This is on Armbian_5.25_Orangepipc_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop / Armbian_5.25_Orangepione_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113, from download section and self built.

Hey folks, I'm hoping for some advice on achieving decent graphics for my application. I've got a prototype running with a custom board hosting the NanoPi Neo Air and a bunch of my own hardware. The biggest issue right now is getting reasonable graphics performance. The difference between mainline and legacy support has had me confused and switching back and forth trying to find a useful solution. Here's what I've learned so far: Mainline feels like the future, so that's my preference. My application uses fbtft over SPI for the graphics. I achieved 72MHz SPI on mainline which gives almost reasonable performance. On legacy the SPI driver seems buggy and …

Hello and hi everyone. So I've got a Cubietruck with the NAND replaced by TSD eMMC. The TSD behaves like an SD card, and previously tested to run OK using Cubieez-TSD. However, I need to run Node.JS on the Truck, and the Cubieez Debian Wheezy Node.JS support stops at v6 (now we're at NodeJS v8). Ubuntu Xenial will still have NodeJS v8 support, so it's good excuse to change to a new OS. I'm using this image to successfully flash my SD card: Armbian_5.31_Cubietruck_Ubuntu_xenial_default_3.4.113_desktop. First time booting the CT from SD, I got the usual prompt, then the desktop loaded. First problem: The screen is misaligned. https:…

Hi, I have a problem with the wifi connection of the Orange Pi Lite when I connect a HDMI device and switch it on. It is not possible to get the wifi working. I have the same auth. error message like many others here too. But the wifi works well without HDMI device or when the device is off. I have tested the last debian and ubuntu server version and mainline. Thanks for helping

Hi, Good people of Armbian-land! First of all, thank you all for the awesome work you've been putting into Armbian. I recently purchased an Orange Pi PC, for which I'd like to use the Ubuntu desktop image, since I need the HW acceleration features. I tried using Mainline briefly but after confirming that the performance is just not there without the Mali drivers (as suggested by the description, so no surprise there), it seems Legacy is my only viable option. Which would be fine, but the monitor I'd like to use with my setup doesn't work with legacy (it works fine in Mainline). Also a sidenote: I connected the monitor using an HDMI-VGA converter. I set th…
